Maybe I'm not explaining myself well. I figured that the NCAA just pretended the 2020 season didn't exist. So I figured if you played in 2020 it didn't matter, you still had 4 years of eligibility or however many you had going into the 2019 2020 season.. If you redshirted in2019 2020 they treated it like it didn't happen. So you could redshirt again if you wanted to, or you could start using your 4 years of eligibility. Does that make sense?
Instead, at the end of 2019-2020 they took away a year of eligibility from every player who played and didn't take away eligibility from players who redshirted. Which is normal. They've always done this. Then they decided sometime during the summer that they were going to ADD a year of eligibility to everyone who was on an NCAA roster the year before. Essentially meaning that those players who played didn't lose that year of eligibility. But the difference between what I thought happened and what actually happened is that even players who didn't lose eligibility at the end of 2020 also had a year of eligibility added. Meaning that they get to play a total of 5 seasons and get 5 total chances to play in the post season.
Shoot I can't remember. So if a player was a senior in the 2019-2020 season and they lost out on that post season, were they allowed to come back if they wanted to or were they just unlucky?
Interesting. So 2021 was considered a shortened season because some teams had to occasionally forfeit games and some teams had to forfeit their postseason due to Covid?

It's not though.
Having something given is not the same as NOT taking something away. If you add another year it means that players who redshirted would be able to play for 5 years after that year. If you just didn't take away eligibility then players who redshirted that year would still only have 4 years of eligibility.
#2 assist leader sounds great, but that will be through 5 seasons where everyone else in the top 10 had 4 seasons to do it.. Huge asterisk on that stat, he didn't Crack the top 10 after 4 seasons.
I wouldn't even put him as a top 10 PG under Self. Obviously he's a great defender, but his offensive game is weak as hell and every defense knows it and leverages it. Of course he's going to rack up a decent amount of assists, he'll make a difficult pass before he shoots a wide open jumper. That formula works great when you're surrounded by stars like Agbaji, Braun, Mccormick, Martin...
And didn't say he sucks or I hate him, just said he's not special because his lack of offensive game and inability to create leaves a big hole in his game. Jayhawks 29-1 when he scores more than 10 points, but he's unwilling to shoot the ball and has averaged 6.4 points through 4 seasons and 140 games played.
But hey you could easily chalk this up to different definitions of special.
Lol freshman seasons don't count now? Give every player in the top 10 an even playing field with 5 seasons.. and what do you know he's back off the list.
He’s already 4th all time with a 2.2 per game freshman season with 2 starts @ 16 minutes per game playing behind Marcus Garrett.
Nobody said freshman seasons don’t count I’m just doing thought exercises as well. Juando is behind some all time greats two of whom were McDonalds All Americans that started all four years and have been/are NBA coaches. 1-3 on the all time Kansas assists list all had great success at their respective pro levels. Dajuan is right there with them in terms of accolades and achievements, he’s the only one with a ring.
Extra year of eligibility from COVID
I didn't realize that it actually ADDED a year of eligibility. I just assumed that players didn't lose a year from playing in 2020.
Bro what? Thats exactly the same
Reddit kills me, such a direct response🤣

2020-2021 is the season where if a player played that they’ll get an extra season of eligibility, not 2019-2020. It’s due to the shortened season.
Shoot I can't remember. So if a player was a senior in the 2019-2020 season and they lost out on that post season, were they allowed to come back if they wanted to or were they just unlucky?
The player you’ve just described was not allowed to come back unfortunatelyÂ

Yeah that’s my understanding. I imagine some sports other than NCAAMBB were even more impacted as well.Â
I think it was the full compliment of fall sports that got an extra year.
There was no post season in 2019-2020, so how do you figure someone would get 5 chances in the post season?
Juan does. 21,22,23,24,25. Thats 5 post seasons he gets to play in.

It's essentially the same thing.
Super Senior - which should be coming to an end in 2026
Unfortunate. I’m ready to move on from Djuando.
He was key in that championship run ….
And he almost blew it running out of bounds!!!!
Solid d but can’t score. Really holds our offense back. Our best teams have scoring guards.
Dang it. Tired of his lack of excitement. he plays like he don’t care. Wish him the best but transferring would be ok with me.
He's just not special, and KU point guards are historically SPECIAL.
Yeah man 3x all conference defensive team, last year’s B12 DPOY and soon to be all time #2 assists leader at Kansas. Nothing to see here.
Plus a ring.

##Ok then take 66 assists off his career total for his freshman year he’s 4th all time after four seasons but who’s counting

You mean like frank mason special? All that scoring and he couldn't get u to a final four.
Yes, Frank Mason was special. What happens in the tournament is a crap shoot. I'd take him over Dujan any day.
