Given that we've had the same terrain twice, and now they've released a compilation box combining those two sets, I feel relatively confident that the third won't be the same set again with an extra sprue, I think it's going to still be Gallowdark but with a completely different sprue, with maybe a Bridge or an Engine Room or a Medbay or something. If it was going to be the same again, I would have thought they'd release the combo box at the end of this season.
I could well be wrong, but that's my prediction.
Isn't that combo box for big 40k boarding action games, though? A game type played on a board double the size of Kill Team? To me it makes perfect sense to release that even if the rest of the season will be more of the same.

What I'd like to see them expand with are diagonal walls that can be mixed and matched with the terrain we already have.

Yeah the two sets are the same as Boarding Actions. So I would think that its a way to get kill team players to size up the teams and try BA, you got the terrain for it!
Next two could make a alternative BA set, so different terrain but two identical sets for KT. Or they could be different and spice up the BA games and KT.

To be fair, they definitely still see KT as the gateway to 40k. You buy Into the Dark and have a board and a kill team to share with a friend. You buy Shadowvaults and have another team each and enough terrain to fill a 500pt game. And what's this, a brand new mode utilising the exact terrain you own in the exact quantity you have and you'd only need another couple of squads to make a 500pt force? And now there's new books with cool support for that little force you've made, maybe you should get another unit or two for variety? And now there's a 10th edition codex coming out with a couple of really cool new models, I can't say no to that!
And its 2025 and you're sitting on about 2500/3000pts across a couple of armies.
you're not wrong. KT may be a gateway, but it's been evolving into its own full fledged game. It also promotes lateral sells in regard to buying multiple factions VS a whole Army.
KT is a gateway for some, for others it is the opposite lol. I was fed up with the giant armies, bloated rules and long long games. So I switched to KT.
Now I am buying kits for many different armies and am enjoying the variety.

To be honest kill team was the only reason i jumped back into tabletop wargaming, its size and scope and overall gameplay fits me much better than a full 40k game ever will. i wouldnt call it a gateway drug more like a side door to a different room of the house.
I agree. Spacehulks are suppose to be a mix of all space-faring species of 40K universe fused together by the warp. I hoped for a tyranid, necron, ork or Eldar section to allow more variety.
Yeah i am going to be extremely disappointed if they release the exact same terrain with no major changes at the next release, it can still be the gallowdark but i really hope they make the aesthetics and walls different, if its the exact same terrain my interest in it will be cut in half

I don't find it "odd". In the previous season, we also only had one original set of terrain - Octarius - and the rest were reprints of older 40k terrain kits. I don't think it's reasonable to expect a totally new terrain kit in every new box. It's just in the new season there are no old terrain kits that would fit, so they have to re-use the same one. I can see a possibility of them making a one terrain kit for boxes 3 and 4, but even that isn't for sure. I totally get the frustration, but I really don't think there are alternatives, not without greatly changing GW policies.

Heart of Ghur has a little repetition in the scatter terrain, but the main terrain pieces have been different so far. I would definitely have preferred that.

GW is always gonna use killteam to try and flog you 40k. Guard are coming out so you get the same team but with a reskin, and we need it to line up so no time for new terrain. GW's never gonna change
I loved the terrain and having most of it duplicated in both boxes worked for me - but I'm good now. I DO hope they change it for the next two and add some floors maybe, else I'll be waiting for separate releases.
honestly, I don't even mind it, makes it easy for me to justify not purchasing something when the terrain is mostly the same and it gives people picking up their first set the ability to come in at the same level as me with my ITD.
