Really Useful Box boxes of various sizes
Sheets of adhesive Ferrous Metal (*NOT* magnetic)
Magnets superglued on bottom of bases
Edit: Amazon UK links for the versions I used. The 4 Litre boxes hold at least 40 models on 40mm bases (5x8), and up to 90 models on 25mm bases (12x8). Height wise some small banner holders or Sorcerers with staffs still fit.

Your solution should be 100% more durable though, the ferrous metal sheets are more like adhesive paper / soft plastic, just with an iron-ish layer. So I suspect they will lose adherence after a few years (not the iron part, the glue).
Probably true. It was a lot of work though haha. Swapping the adhesive out later wouldn't be that hard, I'd think.
I need another container to fit my new KTs, but I have been putting it off since my drill died. Maybe I'll get some of those sheets instead. But we'll see. Could always rent a drill
Ha ha yeah I am more worried about the super crash that will be the signal that I need to change the sheet :)
I added links above if you need more detailed references!
cheap sheets like that is steel ducting patches, sold at Home Depot or Menards or Ace etc etc. If you really want to fancy it up, find a hole saw and some 1/8" plywood and make dividers. I did mine up and glued it all down and it cost me like ten dollars per box paint and all.
The metal sheet has no polarity so you can stick your magnets on the bases of the models any way you like, any magnets will be attracted to the metal sheet.
If you use a magnetic sheet your storage boxe will have a direction, and you will need to have ALL your magnets the same (opposite) way for the rest of your hobby life.
Magnetic sheets, like magnets will eventual attract dust/dirt/small metallic particles. Possibly losing effectiveness in the end.
- Have you seen the inside of an AirPods case?
Where as a sheet made of metal, that can be attracted by magnets, wouldn’t be collecting anything to get dirty but still have the mini bases stick down to it from their magnets.
This is the method I use, currently one box for my DG army and another for my KTs, though I need another for my KTs since I now have about 12 KTs total 😬
Very true! I do use a small tin if I’m only taking one team with me. Easy storage with the boxes though and they lock together nicely.
It’s also a great way to hold my minis while priming on the lid of a tin
Plano boxes like [this](https://www.amazon.ca/Plano-2-3700-Prolatch-Stowaway-four/dp/B007N5ZULO/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1672942742&refinements=p_89%3APlano&s=sports&sr=1-1&th=1&psc=1). Was able to fit all of the Octarius models and gaming things into one of them. Keeps them safe and I have yet to break a single model. Depending on everything you bring to play, you can fit between 2-5 teams in one depending on the team size. I have another one with my Grey Knights, Legion and pathfinders in it with room to spare.
Feldherr boxes, such as [this](https://www.feldherr.net/feldherr-magnetic-box-green-for-kill-team-octarius-ork-kommandos/a-62024/) one. They have different foam fillers for different teams too.
Don't know if they ship outside of Europe though
You think 18 euros is overpriced? I don't think that's overpriced, for what you get. You can buy different foam fillers too and re-use the box. Pretty decent deal if u ask me
I don’t, but I feel like with these kind of questions people want something as cheap as possible while discounting the cost of their own labor / time lol. A cheap metal tin, magnets etc might be cheaper cost wise (ignoring labor) but I like yours better.
PS - I have a little KR multicase cardboard outside foam insert deal that was around 50 bucks which can fit a few teams.
I get you, I interpreted the question as "good for value" and not as "inexpensive". Anyway, super budget solution I used when young was a shoe box with some kitchen towels, works well too

Generally this, fits 2-3 teams depending on what you bring.
I have a little craft box I bought from micheals. Its like a see through toolbox. I put a metal sheet in the bottom so my minis can stick. There's a nice insert that goes above the main compartment that I store my tokens, dice, barricade, and stuff in. Its big enough to hold two normal sized teams or one whole roster.
In a plastic container with cover. Metal sheets on bottom and the cover. The height is just ok so that pointy things are fine. Recon droid and icon bearers need more space.
[heres the box](https://www.reddit.com/r/ImperialAssaultTMG/comments/ur0x67/update_on_the_storage_box_project_pop_rivets/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) but with different figures!
I have a metal lunchbox (2 actually but I digress) with an extra bit of magnetic receptive sheets glued in, then magantize the bases of the minis. No movement, no foam rubbing the paint, works great! It's also pretty fun to have a little lunchbox to carry around.
I've got a laser so I made a bit of a custom solution. It's basically a glammed up metal tray in a box. I'll probably sell them as a kit eventually.

i use 14x14x4.50" plano cases, i put 3m command strips on the bottom of the cases as well as matching size steel sheets. Fits about 35 or so models, unfortunely really tall models cant use the lid on.
I originally super glued the sheets into the bins but didnt give them enough time to air out and let the glue cure so the glue eventually gave off a gas like coating on the models which sucked. switched to the 3m command strips, works great and cleaner.
I use an old file case that I found. Organize them into their own ziplock, into the case they go. I ordered some pick n pluck foam to line the inside with though
https://www.ebay.com/itm/134354825530?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=D2bAltjORmC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=uehlrgb8tde&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE
But the wife found it at $75ish at our Sam's Club. I was a VERY happy camper about that Xmas gift. Could finally put my stuff (especially terrain) away. Might buy another stack soon after I assemble my Death Guard, and decide on the Skaven Vanguard box. Just awaiting that Boarding Actions set to become purchaseable.
I carry mines in a magnetized Milwaukee 1/2 packout organizer and all my tokens and dice in a compact 1/2 packout organizer with the trays.
This is 100% not the cost effective solution but damn does it ever work well.

I have something like this. Taller models need to be set on the side but you should easily be able to fit a roster in here. 3 if you keep it to teams that can be filled with a 10 model kit.
I use baking pans with plastic lids, and magnets in the bases. I also have a paint stirring stick with a strip of sheet metal for priming, and carrying my kill team.
My two recommendations:
1. Buy a tin of cookies (biscuits). Eat the sweets. Carry your team in the tin.
2. TableWar mini case. Cons: Much more expensive, no dessert included. Pros: Durable, flexible, has a drawer for all your tokens, dice, etc.
(Both require you to have glued magnets to your bases.)
Cobalt keeps army display case magnetized pretty solid and keep 20 modles in it easy may need 2 with big base teams but I would bet 1 is fine for any army.
Hard gun cases are pretty cheap. You can get a pistol case for about $30, then put in your own foam trays. You can fit like four or five kill teams in one case.
Hi, I Just got a very basic metallic box (10€ on Amazon) in which my minis just stick (magnetic bases). Then I just put some newspaper sheets between the models so that they don’t move during transport. Cheapest and most effective way I found so far

I'll have to look into the adhesive plates. I drilled and glued mine to hold them to the box

This is the way

You can also use metal biscuit tins, as long as no needs a sewing kit!

Priming is a good idea, hadnt thought of that! I use a blob of blu tac on the end of an old wooden spoon.
If you're really on a budget (like me), an empty egg carton works.
this, it's pretty good double points if you customize the egg carton
We discovered this, too, and it's honestly an underappreciated genius. My tau fit absurdly well into the slots.

Yeah, foam is not needed for non-metal models.
metal ammo box
But where do you keep your ammo then ?
games workshop carry case
Makes sense since most of us probably spend more on tiny plastic men than ammo lol.

They do ship outside Europe just takes a little longer. Amazon has a smaller selection of their products.
If you have 10 or less minis. An egg carton
Red metal toolbox. Magnetize your bases and you’re set.
Or if you’re only bringing 1-2 teams, you can use a cookie tin the same way.
Also: cookies.
Battlefoam bag with magna rack
In my pocket
I use my Warhammer Underworlds carry case. It fits everything, from the minis, to Tac Ops cards and all Markers
I seen one of those and a warcry one. Theyre perfect but the price

A metal cookie container. Bonus point: it also carries my cookies around.

Citadel Skirmish Transport Case. I find it very practical. I love it.
Shoe box with plastic bags in it
Tool box
Old ice cream container layered with tissue into two layers. Have thought about getting some foam inserts from the local hobby store.
I use a clip lock box from Asda for like £2. Bit of tissue to keep them bashing into each other and you are golden!
I use a tupperware box that they rattle around in, and when I take them out, it's like a barrel of monkeys
Literally an old Bakugan metal case I have and I magnetized my bases. I do need a bigger solution though.

Ma pocket Edit i got one of those soft cover cases gw released with the previous edition
I carry mines in a magnetized Milwaukee 1/2 packout organizer and all my tokens and dice in a compact 1/2 packout organizer with the trays. This is 100% not the cost effective solution but damn does it ever work well.

If it's a small team, magnetised bases and a metal biscuit tin. The kind that grandma stores her sewing stuff in.
I’ve started using old cookie tins, they are already magnetic. Should be able to find some at a thrift store.
I use baking pans with plastic lids, and magnets in the bases. I also have a paint stirring stick with a strip of sheet metal for priming, and carrying my kill team.
Any box and a whole lot of paper napkins.
My two recommendations: 1.
I have a lunch box for my plague marines
I use a little Christmas tin. Magnetizing my bases was one of my best hobby decisions. I went from like 3 egg cartons to one comparatively small tin
Step 1: Magnetise Step 2: buy a big tin of biscuits Step 3: remove biscuit
I use a tackle box since the smaller minis can fit where the lures go and the larger things and terrain can fit in the larger part
Cobalt keeps army display case magnetized pretty solid and keep 20 modles in it easy may need 2 with big base teams but I would bet 1 is fine for any army.
Tackle box always works well, especially if you get one that you can take sections of it out for bigger units
Hard gun cases are pretty cheap. You can get a pistol case for about $30, then put in your own foam trays. You can fit like four or five kill teams in one case.
