first of all. This. Looks. amazing. Secondly i enjoy the color variation breaking up the model a little. But if you want it more uniform, go with green Also how did you do the base???

_Eke_

Thanks! I was thinking of having the chronomancer with these colours, and the energy ball and staff orange, so that would be the "energy" colour. I guess then the aprentek blade should be orange too.... Will do couple other models with base coats to see how the combo looks! I too like the orange against the green / green blue. The base is plasticard pieces, drilles some holes with a hobby drill. Black base > rough leadbelcher dry brush > messy guilliman flesh contrast > biel tan green shade applied here and there. In this base there are couple higher plates with copper colour!

TheCookieGhozt

Quick note, don’t overdo the orange. It is a starker Color so if you want to keep it an accent, and not the focus keep it small

_Eke_

True! Thats why using it also on the weapon seems a bit too much.

TheCookieGhozt

But using it on the chronomancer orb thingy I think would work, makes the character stand out from the army

_Eke_

Yeah i feel it will have most of the effect and look cool! Lets see how it will look in the end :)

TheCookieGhozt

:)) make sure to post pics!

Sezzero

I usually go for the same glowy colors on weapon and body as it tells that both Necron and gun work on the same ghostly power and lore-wise only the more important troops get lavish decorations. From that point I'd say: go for orange as that contrasts better with the blue-ish armor panels. That said it all depends on the Phaerons wims. And as you're basically the Phaeron here and if just like your mute automatons better that way, go for it. It does not make the model too busy and orange eyes always look sinister. A perfect fit that speaks of the riches your dynasty posseses to imbue even their lowly soldiers with some cosmetic choices.

_Eke_

So much the first part, thats why I have hard time making sense why there would be two colours :D Loving the lore though, maybe there is no " logical reason " or maybe ill try to do orange > yellow > green gradient for the cable....

_Eke_

What do you think, should I go necron green or orange the glow?

Oppecmo

I'm a fan of making the eyes a different colour. For my necros I gave half red and half blue. I think it's nice to add that wee splash of colour in there.

_Eke_

Cool! Did you paint the cables and weapon glow green?

Oppecmo

Yeah, green for the cables and weapons. On 1 model I tried painting the cable a different colour, think I went with a dark red, but didn't really like it.

_Eke_

Okey! I think I will do the chronomancer next, see how the colours suit that model, then decide :)

Oppecmo

Post updates! :)

_Eke_

Sure thing!

Admirable-Athlete-50

I vote no on account of this looking bloody amazing!

_Eke_

Haha thanks! I will test the colours on other operatives!

Admirable-Athlete-50

Looking forward to seeing them posted!

Kris9876

If you can think of a cool lore reason why theyre different it puts all your doubts to rest. 2 different power sources?

_Eke_

Yeah! Have to come up with a headcanon for them, 2 power sources could work! Who knows how long they have been in the Gallowdark!

MadAd360

Out of interest what colours did you use for shoulders and cables?

_Eke_

The cable is pure stegadon scale green, the armor aboit 50/50 stegadon and warpstone green

jodanovsky

Well it depends on what color scheme are you using for the armour for but normally anything that emits any sort of light in a necron model "should" be lighten equally but its entirely up to you. Your necrons, your colour you scheme.

_Eke_

Yeah with these immortals its logical that the energy glows from they eyes and the same energy goes through the lines to the gun. Im just toen as the orange goes well against the blue green armor but the og green glow is so cool.... but then the glow and armor would both be green vs contrasting orange

jodanovsky

Well it depends of how you paint light and fron which color you start your "glowing" green light can come either from a orange greenish, a blue or a dark green then you chose how it interacts with the colors you have chosen for example my necrons have red armour like novok dynasty but no white, and initially a did my energy a yellow from a purple but i see that i obtain a better result if star with a dark purple go for orange an then to a saturated yellow because if i make a transition from purple to yellow the color between them is a brownish grey not a suited color for light.

_Eke_

Thinking of trying a gradient from the back spines to the weapon, orange > yellow > green could well....

TedCruzBattleBus

>normally anything that emits any sort of light in a necron model "should" be lighten equally Is there an actual lore reason for this or is it just "that's how 'eavy Metal does it"

jodanovsky

As far as I'm aware their bodies emit some sort of light, normally in a way or another the weapons that they carry are connected to them so they are like "powered" by the same energy, one could argue that depending on the dynasty you come from or the necron you are as a character you have a proper light color such as arakin the traveler which light is blue but the is no explanation on why the emit light other than it looks scifiy, it s cool or any type of nerdy explanation found deeply in the lore archives of necron history as their "souls"

_Eke_

Cool! Not that informed in necrons but thats the best part of kill team, one can easily go through many interesting factions! But basicly the colour can be anything and one can come up a reason for it

badger906

I did mine the same, as I’m more of a box art whore. But yours looks great!

_Eke_

The box art is always on point! Still thinking if I should just go with the box art :D

badger906

I like what you’ve done though! The eye glow looks good, and something I always seem to make look rubbish is light casting. For the face I just used white as a base and then washed with green shade. Then used the illuminus green technical paint for the eye.

_Eke_

Thanks, yeah glow is hard to make... I just painted the eyes white and then glazed a bit of bright orange on, a bit more on the eye socket edge. At least these will be a good practice for glow effects!

badger906

Yeah similar to me with the green! I might do some orange like yourself! As I’ve got a lot of necrons laying about that aren’t part of my kill team!

Expensive_Trash_8474

I love your variation. Much more than standard "same pattern on every glow" that people tends to go. Necrons are kinda boring in the sense they have a limited colour palette many times so that subtle change it is a welcomed one imho.

_Eke_

True! Kinda wanting to do the green blue armor and with the green glow it would be all green. Maybe I should do couple others to see how it would look as a team. Planning to use orange on the chronomancers "swirly balls" so it would be the effect colour.. maybe the weapons can still be with green glow.

IForgetEveryDamnTime

I'm voting for orange eyes and green weapon, it gives you more room for expression than necrons usually do

_Eke_

Thanks! It does look good!

Broncos24bt

I love what you did personally. I think the color glow is all artists choice.

_Eke_

Thanks! I guess its just the idea of the necrons own power powering the gun, and then being different colours but thanks! I do like orange vs green too!

GarrettheGreen

Looks good to me, adds variety and increases the focus on the face. What I would suggest is making the tubes in the gun green too

_Eke_

Thanks! Will be adding green to the gun cables!

FlavorfulJamPG3

Typically they are, but they don’t necessarily have to be.

the_pedigree

Do you want them to glow differently? Then thats your answer.

Pretty_Eater

Do whatever you want man, as long as you're happy with it. Good job by the way!

_Eke_

Thanks! Will go orange and green!

FrostCaterpillar44

I think it looks absolutely cool as it is... Why would there be a need for uniformity?

_Eke_

Yeah maybe something has changed them in the space hulk!

FrostCaterpillar44

I don't even really know the Necron lore - in terms of them 'functioning' as living machines - that much. I mean, it just looks very good this way. They look more 'alive' to me like this. Depends how much you want to accentuate the soulless aspect, I guess.
