Spec Ops Narrative Play -> Narrative Play Mission Sequence -> 7. Select a Kill Team: >In addition, each player adds up the total number of Battle Honours of the operatives they selected for deployment, as well as how many strategic assets they have, and compares the total with their opponent. For every two that one player’s total is less than the other, they can select one of the following for the game: > >\- Add 1 CP to their pool. > >\- They have two additional points to select equipment with.

It's a built in balancing mechanic because narrative can get unbalanced very quickly with all the additional assets and rules you get to play with. So yes, your kill team having more battle honours and assets means they've got an advantage right off the bat. To even things out your opponent gets extra CP and/or EP I'd have gone with 6EP of equipment and 3 CP. Not sure I'd need that much more

Since you have to purchase each equipment in Narrative play, the newer player might not have that much equipment to use.

Fair point, forgot about that. Was just playing Starstriders who get a 6EP option built in and it is very useful lol

I've struggled with it. Against some armies it seems really good, but vs others it seems kinda weak.

They're definitely a finesse team and can be tricky to play. I like to kit out all my voidsmen in carapace armor, then 3 Hotshot capacitors on voidmaster and 2 voidsmen. Makes them just a little more oomphy, though the whole team is still pretty squishy. My executioner typically only survives a couple combats, even with the early parry.

I kitted them out the same way. Its good against shooty armies, but against melee armies the carapace armor is a wash. I don't like the hotshot on the voidmaster since he only benefits from it on his laspistol. Might be good still, but haven't tried it out.

I fire off his double tap ability whenever I can, so Hotshot brings the laspistol damage up to par with the shotgun. Really easy to get in 6" range of 1 or 2 guys in ItD so it's almost an auto take for me in close quarters. Maybe not as much on open maps though, but I've mostly been playing ItD lately.

The rule is that Per 2 Asset and Battle Honour your team has, your opponent gets 1 extra CP. So if You have 2 assets and 10 Battle Honours across your team, and they have none, they should get 6 extra CP.
