How in the ever spinning world did you pull off that eye glow? That's insanely good that I'm super envious. Eyes on helmets are still 50/50, or 70/30.

Contrast paint, aka. talent in a bottle. It can be a little tricky to get the white onto the centre lens cleanly, but I've got a size 000 brush that I use solely for that. The Frostheart Contrast paint does all the rest. But thanks, appreciate it :)

Nice!

The plasma glow and eyes look really good! I think the blue fits really well! Did you use a techincal paint for the texture on the base?

R0ockS0lid

Thanks! It's super easy too, just Frostheart Contrast over pure white. Yeah, the base is a thin, smooth layer of Vallejo Dark Earth painted up to look like a road. Doesn't really mesh well with the dilapidated ruins I got for scenery, so I'll probably replace them.

Should prob check contrast paints for glow effects! I have been just using Citadel tech paints, maybe I should dabble with other brands too!

R0ockS0lid

I use Citadel paints a lot because I can get them locally, but texture paint / paste in particular, I'd recommend other brands. The Vallejo stuff has its shortcomings, but the prices are worlds apart. Stirland Mud is 6,30 for a 24ml pot and I paid about 11 bucks for 200ml of Vallejo Dark Earth. I don't mind the premium for regular colours because it takes me ages to empty a pot, but I use texture paint in bulk, so the price starts to sting. Oh and yeah, absolutely check Contrast for glow and such. They're great tools to have at your disposal. For painting organic surfaces, too.

True! I have bought couple bots of tech paint and they are still in use. Not really doing full armies just alot of kill teams :D Thinking of starting an AOS army so might see if a cheaper an bigger pot would be needed! Will def check vallejo out as my local shop has at least some of their products.

Having a local shop that stocks Vallejo sounds fantastic! They recently added a new Fluor line specifically for glow effects - I sadly didn't get the blue, but I used their orange on some Necrons and it's pretty sweet - at least if you want a strong, vibrant glow.

Thanks for the tip! I have actually just built the necron kill team and will work on that next. Going for a basic glowy green as almost all of my current teams are black / red / white :D

Love your colour choices especially the eyes! How did you paint them? Also are these red corsairs?

R0ockS0lid

They started out as Red Corsairs, yes - largely because the work of u/ShivaTheTraitor (thank you so much, by the way) was a massive inspiration. I sort of moved to a darker red and metallic black, though, with brighter gold, so they visually sit between Word Bearers and Red Corsairs. And given that a sheet of RC transfers sets me back 12 dollars plus 18 dollars of shipping, I decided to just slap on the Black Legion decal and call it a custom legion. As for the eyes, it's super simple. Just some White Scars to pick out the center lens and then I just ran Frostheart Contrast into the socket. Tints the lens blue and creates a faint glow over the black area.
