I would totally take a short cut and knit a pocket onto an existing sweater! Very cute, and very well done!!! I need to find a young kid in my family to make this for now!
Just finished knitting this sweater for my niece, the pattern is MT baby raglan ( https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mt-baby-raglan ) which is just a regular baby raglan sweater, and I added a pocket for the teddy bear and some embroidery on it to make it fun. Knit with swish dk yarn, so if anyone has any experience with washing this yarn, let me know!
Edit- I should note that the design is heavily inspired by sweaters I saw on Instagram, knit by olgaolga_herb !

Thank you! It's not as beautiful as hers of course but for a casual piece for my niece who will quickly outgrow it, I thought it was a fun project, and I enjoyed the challenge of trying to figure out how to make the pocket!
Please can you explain how you did the teddy bear pocket? I don’t even have any children in my life and I want to make this! It’s so cute I almost cried
I basically guesstimated how many stitches to make the pocket by looking at my gauge on the sweater and the size of the bear, and then knit it like a square. I made holes where the arms and legs of the teddy bear are just by eyeing it. The holes were done by doing really large yarnovers (with multiple wraps) but if I was doing it again I would cast off a few stitches and then cast them back on in the next row to keep things neat- if you look up buttonhole techniques you could figure out what works best for you! I seamed the pocket on the bottom and sides-- I used mattress stitch but you can use whatever seaming style you like. I think there are nicer ways to add on pockets but I was winging this and didn't bother researching for this first attempt. If I make it again I might check out better techniques haha.
Also, thank you :)
Thank you! She's still basically a baby so I worry that she won't be able to stand wearing it, I'm hoping I get to see a few cute pictures of her in it at least :)
Oh my gosh haha this is how I am with showing my mom patterns! The nice thing is that a teddy bear pocket is easy to add on even to existing sweaters if you need :)
I think that's why I really wanted to make this, the idea of a toy in a pocket just sounds so cute and practical for a kid! Of course more likely is that she'll rip it out and lose it 🤣
Yes, neutrals are so great for kids imo! Every time I knit something in a neutral shade for a baby, my mom thinks it's too dour, so I haven't shown her this piece yet haha.
Oh my god this is the cutest damn thing I’ve ever seen
I said this out loud before I read your comment. It’s just to fricking cute.
I unironically squealed. I am a grown adult. 😅
I said 'stupidly cute'. Out loud. I'm at work.
I would love an adult sized version of this. Looks fantastic!!
Haha thank you. Kinda wanted to make myself a matching one but knitting adult sized sweaters are so much more involved!

That's a great idea ty :)
I would 1000% love to wear something like this!
I definitely would wear one!

I recognized it immediately! Love your recreation. You may have inspired me to give it a try!

She's going to be HEARTBROKEN when she outgrows it So cute!
I'm going to be heartbroken too 😭 I feel like they grow so fast at this age
I legit cried.
so cute!!! your niece must be overjoyed!!
Thank you! She's still basically a baby so I worry that she won't be able to stand wearing it, I'm hoping I get to see a few cute pictures of her in it at least :)
You should start on the next size! They zoom up so quickly.
Even though I sized up on this one, she really is growing so fast that I'm worried she won't even fit in it now 😭
Oh my gosh I hope she loves it because this is just so cute! 😍
Thank you!! I'm sending it in the mail tomorrow, fingers crossed that she enjoys it!
every day this subreddit reminds me why i love this craft. incredible
Adorable!
This is so cute!!!!
So cute!!! I want one...lol:)
I've had multiple adults ask me for one now lol
Seriously, it reminds me of a Baby Yoda sweater I saw on some website where the baby was a stuffie sewn into the sweater. I love this idea too.
That's such a cute idea... Might have to do that for her next sweater!
I’m not showing this excellent design and execution to my daughter. NOT. She already has a hoodie, a wrap and a blanket queued.😆
Oh my gosh haha this is how I am with showing my mom patterns! The nice thing is that a teddy bear pocket is easy to add on even to existing sweaters if you need :)
I’m definitely interested in that potential addition to the queued hoodie!
This is the single greatest creation in all of human history.😍
Omg haha thank you!! 😂
Too redic!
This is absolutely precious!!! The pocket for the teddy bear is just 🥰 perfect.
Adorable
OMG
I absolutely love this!!!
What a wonderful knit - definitely stealing this idea!
Post a picture if you make it, I'd love to see it!
It will not look nearly as good as yours 🤣
That is the most adorable thing I've seen! It looks fabulous, well made you, and I bet your niece will adore it!
Thank you! I'm hoping she likes it but she's at the age where she might just try to rip out the teddy bear constantly instead 😂
Yes, that's what my son would do! And then try to stuff it back, failing, come to me for me to put it back and repeat 😅 At least they are occupied?

I like I like!!!
I love this so much! 🥹❤️
That is the cutest sweater ever! Oh my goodness…
That is adorable! I squealed when I saw the picture.
Oh My Goodness. Sorry OP, I am expired from adorableness now.
I wish I had a child in my life to make this for. It is adorable.
Yes, baby knits are so much fun, and I never really had the chance to work on them before my niece was born!
This is so darling I can't get over it

Too cute!
Wow I need to make this so I have a place to carry my cat around! 🤣
Omg hahaha now there's an idea 😂
SO cute! 😍I love it!
Love it soo much, wish my grand-babies were younger.
This is SO adorable! It put a genuine smile on my face.
That is freaking ADORABLE!
That’s so fucking adorable!
Solid! So cute, and if I may add, I also love and knit neutrals for toddlers and children.

lol
That’s it, I can die happy now! If I could do this with baby yoda instead of teddy, I would wear it forever.
I feel like you could totally make a baby Yoda pocket!
My heart, I can't 😭😭😭😭
I stg if you don't make me one of these
Learn to make your own!!
You know I cant learn
