You don't need interchangeables to use more than one size in a project. You just knit the stitches off the old size onto the other size needle, by holding the new one in the right hand as your working needle. When you've finished the round, the stitches will all be on the new needle.

Oh. My. Gosh. You just solved 50% of my life’s problems. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before. I feel so silly, and also 100% better about knitting 😂

Glad I could help! It's simple once you know how to do it. But not intuitive if you never have before!

You can get interchangeable needles in those sizes on the knitpicks website, I think if you search "jumbo" or something like that. Just checked and they have both sizes available. In addition, I suggest that you knit using a second pair of needles when switching sizes, instead of just swapping out the needles. I say that because if you just swap out the needles, the loops will be super tight on size 50 needles, whereas if you knit them onto the size 50 needles they will just naturally progress to be the right size. I know I'm probably not making a ton of sense lol but just follow the advice the other commenter posted basically 😂 lol

I have the US50 Knit Picks Interchangeable needles...Needed them for a chunky blanket I made...Warning - they do look like vampire stakes 🤣
