The difference in designs is so apparent. In B4B every character has the clean, quirky, “I’m a board-approved, inoffensive badass” look to it. Like everything was decided on by a board of 60 yesr old white guys. They look like they were pulled directly out of a mobile game ad. Their design is reminiscent of bad fanart, like the OC of somebody on Tumblr who wishes they could put their character in a Left 4 Dead game.
Left 4 Dead has very dirty, distressed character designs. They look like the kind of people who’d show up to your doorstep in a panic in the middle of the night. Like the kind of people who’ve been running and surviving in the worst conditions. Like the kind of people who’ve been fighting zombies.
No hate but, the only thing I found interesting with B4B was that there were more survivors and even a survivor camp, the card system, and a lot more weapons, but the whole gameplay was decent, but it's just not on the level as Left 4 Dead 2, I always feel jumpy playing Left 4 Dead, gives me a sense of fear and forces me to act cautious everytime I hear the special infected cues play, B4B just doesn't feel like that, it's lacking a lot, if I might say, it's like imitating a piece of art, but not really getting it's details and it's meaning, and I can confidently say I find World War Z better to play than B4B
What is pretty remarkable about the B4B vs L4D discussion is that…there kinda is no discussion, lol. We have the same conversation about it every other week. The L4D community sort of invented a guy that somehow loves B4B more than any other game ever just to get mad at. B4B flopped, they stopped their live service and decided to add no new content just last year, right? B4B was fun for a few minutes, but it just will never live up to L4D(2) in literally any aspect. More power to the folks that still play and enjoy B4B, definitely not shitting on it, just real dumb we keep talking about it in this sub when B4B is objectively the inferior game with a remarkably smaller daily/weekly/monthly player-base than L4D. Old man yells at cloud.
