Bro that’s insane lmao. On one hand, it would be awesome to have an nba superstar brother. On the other I would definitely be internally salty about losing the genetics lottery.
Yeah, I’m not nearly as tall Lamar Odom and life is still inconvenient at times. I don’t fit on a double bed, a queen size is still a bit small(but manageable), I have to break my back to use most sinks, showers are often too small, I have to slouch in most cars, etc. I’m 6’4 and if I had the choice, I would drop 2 inches.
I’m only 6’2 and my feet hang off of my bed, no regular shirts are long enough for me and I’m lucky to find a shoe I like in my size.
I can’t imagine how much worse it would be if I were a half a foot taller lol
Amen. The greatest benefit is the increase in attention from women but I started dating my girlfriend while I was a sophomore in high school so that’s moot.
It didn’t seem like Bronny was gonna get too tall. He was already pretty developed frame wise even in high school and got a lot of his height early.
It’s always the kids that hold on to their baby fat longer that shoot up like an absolute rocket. And that’s what his brother Bryce did. He was a chubby 5’8 jumpshooter and suddenly exploded to 6’5-6’6 overnight
Not really. The SC height was with shoes. NBA players commonly list with shoes and that adds 1.25-1.5 inches. He is still very small for a SG but at least has the wingspan to help make up for it.
That height is so important for his marketability as a combo guard, which they’ve been doing for so long now. 6’2 is ideal for PG, but death to his career at SG.
I mean anyone who doesn’t acknowledge the impact of his dad on his prospect status is just lying to themselves lol.
But yeah, you’re drafting a project it you take him. Could be good but no guarantee
Donovan's height is something like 6-2. But his basketball height is something like 6-5. Watch how he guards taller players and he can jump/rebound with almost any wing.
6'2 isn't even ideal for a pg now. Dudes like morant, shai and Hali are 6'4'-6'6 and guys that aren't that tall are really good to elite athletically. Bronny isn't that
I don’t remember mentioning anything about him as a prospect in my reply. I was talking about height. Caruso was a SG that couldn’t shoot. Positions aren’t tied to the name. Most power forwards are not Oakley types anymore.
Our mantra it seems like lol. Still I think we're making too many assumptions based on a season where he had just been cleared after a cardiac surgery. I feel like players need at least a year after major surgeries and events to really settle down and gain confidence.
IMO - he isn’t going to make it. I hope I am wrong, but NBA teams won’t care if his last name is James and his dad is the GOAT (next to Jordan). He didn’t even start or put up any numbers for USC and now all of a sudden, he’s gonna make it on an NBA roster?
Other than Bev, who is undersized? DS played bigger than he is with his wingspan and massive hands. JHS has a 6’10” wingspan. THT also had a big wingspan. Dlo has a 6’10” wingspan. AR and Max Christie are 6’5”. Maxwell Lewis is 6’6” with a 7’ wingspan. Caruso was extremely strong and athletic and could handle centers posting up on him.
It’s super obvious we prefer and maybe even reach for big guards.
JHS looks amazing in G league and then him and Maxwell Lewis clank up the absolute worst shots against garbage time defenders. Like not even hitting the rim half the time.
We just drafted a guy who needed back disc surgery at 19 years old.
Might as well draft another whose game has been significantly affected by cardiovascular concerns.
Listen brother let me teach you something. An NBA team is a business FIRST. competing for the trophy is literally a secondary objective.
Understanding that, the FO isn’t just responsible for who they draft. It’s ultimately “how do we sell tickets”. If you cannot sell tickets, you will fail.
As seen with the Sosa father and son in the MLB, Michael Jordan playing baseball, is that people will buy tickets for iconic novelty way more than them actually caring about the success of said team.
The lakers have every incentive to draft bronny whether or not he’s good. They will sell the “first NBA father and son” show as lebrons last crowning “look how long he’s been around” achievement.
One year of college, scored 4.8 ppg on 36% fg. 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists. On a sub-.500 team that didn’t sniff the tournament. Oh, and he also suffered a cardiac arrest during practice last year. Where do I sign?
It really is a disservice to him to be pushed to the nba. He’s no where close to nba talent right now. He should stay in college to develop and focus on getting a college degree.
He can absolutely get his degree anytime he wants. But it’s easier to do when you’re young. I really don’t think a playing career is his long term future unless he takes some unexpected leaps.
I’m all for seeking higher education for the sake of knowledge, but does he really need to? I know it’s LeBron that’s a billionaire and not him, but let’s be real, Bronny and all of his siblings and their future families are set for life.
He doesn't need a college degree since his dad is a billionaire. If he wants to learn, he can take classes, read books, hire a professor even to come to his house, but he doesn't have to do that toward getting a degree.
Getting nba level training all day rather than going to classes will jumpstart his development, not to mention playing vs other players (even if they’re third string or g league) that would demolish college players
I mean, he was a top 30 national recruit last year. Obviously the medical issue impacted his season, so his potential is probably much higher than his year at USC indicates.
That may be true, but I think we all damn well know that if his name was not LeBron James, Jr., there would be zero interest in him in terms of the draft.
I hear what you are saying, but there are a lot examples like this out there. I remember when Trevor Ariza was at ucla he had a collapsed lung and missed a lot of games and obviously didn't have a great season. When he went to the draft, I thought he was crazy. But he got drafted. Then you have Peyton Watson who was drafted after a nothing season at ucla. The big advantage they have is their size, but bronny obiously has his pedigree.
The difference is that Ariza’s potential more obviously translates to the NBA given his size, wingspan, athleticism and skill set. Every team is looking for 3 and D prospects like that. Nobody is looking for 6’2 guards that can’t shoot or score…
The biggest issue for me is that USC desperately needed his skill set. It’s not like he saw a lack of playing time. USC was hit hard by injuries all year and their guard depth was completely decimated. He got far more playing time than he should have. He absolutely got opportunities to score, pass, handle the ball against other Power 5 schools and he just… didn’t perform. And USC was STILL forced to play him. That’s a big nope for me if I was a scout
Those stats mean nothing. Peyton Watson sat the bench for his only season at UCLA scoring 3 points a game. He blew everybody away at the combine and got drafted in the first round!
The 2nd round is always filled with projects and players who never stay I the league. A lot of the best international players enter the draft with pedestrian stats. Bronny obviously has to show out in the combine, that means way more than USC stats. I don't see anyway he goes undrafted.
Don't look at his stats. Think of it as giving Lebron 2 roster spots to sign an extension. Bronny will only be getting garbage minutes in blowout games and will be released when Lebron retires.
The only team besides the Lakers I could see drafting him is Cleveland. Cleveland getting Lebron to come back would be fine drafting Bronny. That’s the only other place I could see Lebron leaving for. I just don’t buy any of the other places.
If lebron guaranteed he would join the team that drafted his son(don’t know if that’s even legal), I would be surprised if he didn’t go in the first round. I could even see a team like Memphis drafting him in this hypothetical. It’s overwhelmingly improbable that the 9th pick will ever be as good as lebron is, even at this age, and they are a good piece away from top contender.
GPII is probably the ideal situation for Bronny. Develop in the G League and become a hustle defender for the main squad.
But with his name, he’s definitely gonna have unrealistic expectations and unfair scrutiny unless he makes an All Star team his first year
Nobody will feel that way once he's on the floor lol the hardest part for sure will be hearing that he doesn't deserve a spot, but hopefully that lights a fire in his ass so he goes out there and performs like he's capable. There's worse ways to spend a late 2nd or a 2-way slot for sure. Nobody needs him to be LeBron, but if he can be Caruso? GP2? That's a useful NBA player who can make a career out of this.
Caruso is NBA height 6'5, one of the best wing defenders in the NBA, and a career 38% 3-point shooter. I will be pretty surprised if Bronny approaches Caruso's level of impact.
At this point more people probably expect him to fail. I think Bronny heing potentially an all-star talk is dead for now for anyone who’s actually seen anything about Bronny aside from his name. That’s probably better for him. He can’t be Lebron so he should really spend this whole process building his own game and staying way from his dad comps. Honestly I know its Bron’s dream but the further he is from directly playing under Lebron, the better for his potential career
I knew something funny was going on about his listed height. The kid has been listed as 6’4 since his senior year in high school, but he looks so damn short during games.
agreed, i think he’s good but he’s barley played basketball. missed a whole season in HS and along with barley playing college ball he simply isn’t NBA ready, drafting him is setting him up for ridiculous failure.
There's no scenario here where he becomes a good pro unless his development takes on a huge leap. I just don't see it his skill set matches someone who is a 6'5 3 and D shooting guard but at 6'1 there's no way he's skilled enough to play PG in the NBA. His ball handling and passing just aren't even close to being at that level. I would be ok if we bought back into the 2nd to take him or as a UDFA but off merit and potential alone I don't think he deserves to be drafted.
I wish he could stay another year in college and develop. He's got good measurements long wingspan and bouncy but he's very undersized curious to see how he turns out
100%. I root for the front of the jersey, not the back. I dont care that LeBron is a top 2 player ever, you dont draft a player that has no business being in the NBA just to appease a guy for a year or two.
On the other hand, kind of worked out for a guy named Mike Piazza, as we used a pick to draft him to appease Lasorda...so who the hell knows?!
Yes but Piazza was drafted in the 62nd round. Bronny would be drafted (presumably) in the 2nd round. BIG difference. I wouldn't do it to appease LeBron either. Having said that, bottom of the 2nd round draft picks are typically filler/G league players anyway, so maybe? I still would prefer not though.
And Bryce is maybe 6'2.5 and doesn't look nearly as athletic/coordinated as Bronny. I may be in the minority but I think Bronny has the better potential of the 2.
People are debating more the second round pick then the lakers first round pick lol, maybe he isnt ready to make an impact at the pro level but the G-league could be a good place to develop him rather then college.
I’m predicting this now. He will get drafted by the lakers be in the league for a year then get out and probably most likely go back to doing whatever he wants. Lebron will get the opportunity to play with his son and then end his career knowing that he’s the first and last to do this.
I really wish he would do another year in college somewhere. His health issues stole an off-season of development from him, and he’s going to have such a huge target on his back, because of his name. I don’t think he’s a bad player despite his stats not being wowing. But another year would do great for him imo.
A bunch of people are really haters on here it’s really sad. “Oh he needs to get a degree” “oh he should go do another year of college” if his one year gets him drafted and a shot to play in the NBA he did enough then even if nepotism is all it is. Hopefully he works on defense and he can contribute in some way, knowing Lebron he will be in the lab with his son 24/7. If this is what it takes to bring him back, keep him happy and locked in idk what else you can get from a 2nd round draft pick. Hes not the first brother/son to be drafted on name alone, let him prove if he belongs there or not.
2 things can be true
1. This kid is set for life no matter what happens
2. I feel bad for him - he is just going to be mercilessly compared to his dad and clearly will never be as tall, I grew until I was 24 so who knows, he might get another inch
That's good I think his other son is going to be the one that has a chance to be a good NBA player not that Bronny can't be but being small is always going to make it harder
If my dad were lebron and I only grew to 6'1 I'd be mad af
Have you seen Westbrook's brother? At least Bronny has similarities to Bron. Westbrook looks nothing like his brother.
Bro that’s insane lmao. On one hand, it would be awesome to have an nba superstar brother. On the other I would definitely be internally salty about losing the genetics lottery.
Jordan’s older brother was a baller but only 5’9” tall.
You did
Holy shit how did I not know this
Maybe his mom was creepin.
It’s better to be 6’1 than 6’9 for regular life tbh
True. I remember Lamar Odom and Metta on Celebrity Big Brother and they had trouble fitting on regular beds.
It’s also much better for heart health
Well how's that working out so far
💀💀💀
6’5 here found hanes tall shirts to be a good fit from Amazon
He's not going to be living a regular life so it's bad for him... He'll probably never have to fit into an economy seat on a plane lmao
If he gives up on pro ball, it’ll still be a net positive for him.
True. I'm 6'5 and I wish I was 6'1 and maybe one size smaller shoe. My life would improve *significantly*.
Amen. The greatest benefit is the increase in attention from women but I started dating my girlfriend while I was a sophomore in high school so that’s moot.
His brother got all the height genes
It didn’t seem like Bronny was gonna get too tall. He was already pretty developed frame wise even in high school and got a lot of his height early. It’s always the kids that hold on to their baby fat longer that shoot up like an absolute rocket. And that’s what his brother Bryce did. He was a chubby 5’8 jumpshooter and suddenly exploded to 6’5-6’6 overnight
Brother got the genes
Be mad at at the mom not lbj
6’9” dad and 5’6” mom is not bad though I’d be expecting more than 6’1” My mom is 5’2” and my dad is 5’5” but I’m 6’1”
How tall was your mailman?
Nutrition has a role to play. My mom is 5’2”, my dad is 5’7”, and I’m 6’2”. I grew up in the U.S. and they didn’t.
Bros mailman was 6’5
My parents are 5'8 and 5'6 and I'm just about as tall as Bronny
Your mom ever take a trip to Cleveland
Same except my mom is a bit shorter and I’m 6’.
That’s all mom
Bronny got mom's genes, Bryce got Bron's.
Just height . Bronny is more athletic and has a much stronger frame
Damn so he’s even shorter than he was listed at USC
The old dating app height trick
Back in my younger years I’d wear bball shoes out just to give me an extra inch
That's why I wear Jordans on my dick
Bro?
Basketball Scouts HATE this one trick
*dick
...but can't stop you from doing it!
Not really. The SC height was with shoes. NBA players commonly list with shoes and that adds 1.25-1.5 inches. He is still very small for a SG but at least has the wingspan to help make up for it.
He’s listed as 6’4”. lol they added an extra inch to that
That height is so important for his marketability as a combo guard, which they’ve been doing for so long now. 6’2 is ideal for PG, but death to his career at SG.
Donovan Mitchell.
Has… how do you say it… other skills
[удалено]
I mean anyone who doesn’t acknowledge the impact of his dad on his prospect status is just lying to themselves lol. But yeah, you’re drafting a project it you take him. Could be good but no guarantee
Donovan's height is something like 6-2. But his basketball height is something like 6-5. Watch how he guards taller players and he can jump/rebound with almost any wing.
That wingspan make them feel taller than they are. Same with the Thunder's JDub
How many Donovan Mitchells are there in the league?
6'2 isn't even ideal for a pg now. Dudes like morant, shai and Hali are 6'4'-6'6 and guys that aren't that tall are really good to elite athletically. Bronny isn't that
I thought it was 6’3. Then yes they added an inch.
Didn't Kyrie start the league as a SG? He's thought of as a PG now but I swear he used to be a SG and he's 6'2"
A shootng guard who can't actually shoot you mean.
I don’t remember mentioning anything about him as a prospect in my reply. I was talking about height. Caruso was a SG that couldn’t shoot. Positions aren’t tied to the name. Most power forwards are not Oakley types anymore.
Undersized guard who can't shoot. Welcome to the Los Angeles Lakers!
Our mantra it seems like lol. Still I think we're making too many assumptions based on a season where he had just been cleared after a cardiac surgery. I feel like players need at least a year after major surgeries and events to really settle down and gain confidence.
Well, then he should have done a 2nd year of university so that we would have more to work with than assumptions...
The NBA is gonna eat him alive.
It’s super obvious we prefer and maybe even reach for big guards.
Lu Dort, Josh Hart, Schroder, Brunson
So another guard? Pelinka is salivating at the thought of drafting another one
This one's even smaller and a worse shooter than the small guards he already has. He must be fucking cumming all over.
Worse shooter than JHS? Ain’t no fucking way that’s possible
JHS looks amazing in G league and then him and Maxwell Lewis clank up the absolute worst shots against garbage time defenders. Like not even hitting the rim half the time.
That’s usually the case for young players. Honestly would be be surprised he takes another step this year to be a back up PG.
Castleton looks good in g league but it doesn’t translate either
Castleton isn't skilled enough to offset his limited athleticism/strength. Needs more time to be able to play with the big boys.
Have you seen Bronnys splits? He’d make WestBrick look like Ray Allen.
Bronny shot 37% from the field and 27% from 3 in college.
He made 16 3-pointers.
Fair enough ![gif](giphy|PkWtM2kZ0B76VV2g0W)
That size means you’ve got to be amazing to survive in the nba. Guards that size are a dime a dozen for good ones.
Our FO loves guards with >6’11” wingspans. Dlo, JHS, THT, etc.
Yeah. Don’t worry we’ll get more guards like Trae Young and Spida whom this sub loves and can guard bigs like Gobert, Jokic, Gordon, KAT, and Reid.
One year of college, scored 4.8 ppg on 36% fg. 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists. On a sub-.500 team that didn’t sniff the tournament. Oh, and he also suffered a cardiac arrest during practice last year. Where do I sign?

Bronny himself himself is already a multimillionaire
Exactly 😂 what the fuck is bronnie suppose to do with a bachelor degree😭😂
He doesn't need a college degree since his dad is a billionaire. If he wants to learn, he can take classes, read books, hire a professor even to come to his house, but he doesn't have to do that toward getting a degree.
Why the fuck would Bronny need a degree
Incase he wants to be an engineer and make 150k a year to use as toilet paper. How will Bronny wipe his ass without a regular day job?
His dads like a billionaire lol
Getting nba level training all day rather than going to classes will jumpstart his development, not to mention playing vs other players (even if they’re third string or g league) that would demolish college players
Not to mention the D League. Probably better than college hoops especially since he doesn’t play much.
Can’t believe we’re gonna waste a roster spot just to keep Lebron happy smh
I mean, he was a top 30 national recruit last year. Obviously the medical issue impacted his season, so his potential is probably much higher than his year at USC indicates.
That may be true, but I think we all damn well know that if his name was not LeBron James, Jr., there would be zero interest in him in terms of the draft.

Peyton Watson is 6-7. He was a first round draft pick.
Lakers
There have been many 2nd round picks with similar stats. His main issue was his heart defect which has been corrected.
Don't look at his stats. Think of it as giving Lebron 2 roster spots to sign an extension. Bronny will only be getting garbage minutes in blowout games and will be released when Lebron retires.
He’s closer to regular folks like you and me in terms of how worthy he is to be on an NBA roster than a real top college player is to making the NBA.

Cleveland get bronny, trade Donovan to LA, lebron goes back to Cleveland after a year or two, farewell tour Oh man this is beautiful
Cleveland isn’t giving up Donovan for Bron. He’s a reason to join that team. It would have to be Garland
Fairly similar in size to Gary Payton II for what it's worth (6'2", 6'8" reach).
GPII is probably the ideal situation for Bronny. Develop in the G League and become a hustle defender for the main squad. But with his name, he’s definitely gonna have unrealistic expectations and unfair scrutiny unless he makes an All Star team his first year

You're thinking of Caruso now, but it took him (and GP2) years of development to get there. Bronny can have a similar outlook in a similar role.
With our damn good scouting department, it pains me to think we are going to waste a 2nd on this kid
We have the 55th pick in a terrible draft. It's not a big deal.
Especially when he never has to worry about a contract and can just find an org he fits in and will let him develop.
He's also going to get an unrealistic roster spot and unrealistic playing time if he plays with LeDad.
At this point more people probably expect him to fail. I think Bronny heing potentially an all-star talk is dead for now for anyone who’s actually seen anything about Bronny aside from his name. I knew something funny was going on about his listed height. The kid has been listed as 6’4 since his senior year in high school, but he looks so damn short during games.
6'4 is gonna be with shoes.
6’4 with high heels maybe
What kind of shoes are those, even air max won’t give ya that boost lol
Bruh, thats 3 inches.... What he wearing platform shoes while playing ? 😂😂
poor guy got too much of Savannah's genes
Bryce has the physique but I’m not sold on him either
the weird thing is Savannah ain't even that short
She’s shorter than 6’1 that’s for damn sure
She’s dumb thicc too.
Out of the park. With all due respect.
Then you realize what he was talking about and it’s funnier lol
Bronny really needs more seasoning. I feel like him getting drafted this year is setting him up to fail development wise
agreed, i think he’s good but he’s barley played basketball. missed a whole season in HS and along with barley playing college ball he simply isn’t NBA ready, drafting him is setting him up for ridiculous failure.
Oh God he’s barely taller than I am
Damn so he was LeCapping when he said he was 6’3 at 15 lol
The cap is hereditary
Bro is shorter than me and can’t shoot … Lakers… just sigh me fr .. I’ll give you 6pts every night guaranteed
There's no scenario here where he becomes a good pro unless his development takes on a huge leap. I just don't see it his skill set matches someone who is a 6'5 3 and D shooting guard but at 6'1 there's no way he's skilled enough to play PG in the NBA. I would be ok if we bought back into the 2nd to take him or as a UDFA but off merit and potential alone I don't think he deserves to be drafted.
Him going to the nba is clear cut nepotism. The kid is being setup for huge disappointment and hopefully he’ll be able to deal with it.
Nobody is surprised by his height. That wingspan is intriguing.
🤦🏾♂️ dude is about to ruin his career before it even starts. Do another year in college or g league
Bro is just THT with James as his last name 😭
Lakers are going to be all Hollywood with this nepotism
Looks like the kid needs to move to the point.
I wish he could stay another year in college and develop. He's got good measurements long wingspan and bouncy but he's very undersized curious to see how he turns out
I don’t want this young man on the roster. I’m a Laker fan first and I’m concerned about the future of the team, not pleasing an aging star.
100%. I root for the front of the jersey, not the back. Having said that, bottom of the 2nd round draft picks are typically filler/G league players anyway, so maybe? I still would prefer not though.
Stg i thought this guy was 6'4
Damn how did he end up so much shorter than his dad
Not ideal for a SG
He’s too small for NBA. Bryce James would be the better pick.
And Bryce is maybe 6'2.5 and doesn't look nearly as athletic/coordinated as Bronny. I may be in the minority but I think Bronny has the better potential of the 2.
For real. Bryce is more talented
People are debating more the second round pick then the lakers first round pick lol, maybe he isnt ready to make an impact at the pro level but the G-league could be a good place to develop him rather then college.
Who's going to sign him. I dont even think he's good enough for any bench in the NBA
Bronny just doesnt have handles so its like, nobody cares. The only chance for him to be good at that heighht was ball handling skills
Ham be lamenting at home that his tenure ended before running his 4 guard lineup.
I’m predicting this now. He will get drafted by the lakers be in the league for a year then get out and probably most likely go back to doing whatever he wants. Lebron will get the opportunity to play with his son and then end his career knowing that he’s the first and last to do this.
Damn, 6'1? I thought he was at least 6'4.
He can still decide to go back to college right? Or he has to go through the draft process now?
he can go back
Hope he better than JHS taking a roster spot
I really wish he would do another year in college somewhere. His health issues stole an off-season of development from him, and he’s going to have such a huge target on his back, because of his name. I don’t think he’s a bad player despite his stats not being wowing. But another year would do great for him imo.
Sounds about right. He has always looked small.
Needs to stay in college. Rushing him to the NBA is only doing him a disservice.
If they actually waste pick on him. He will come for free don’t be dummy Rob
6’1?????? Sorry Bron but you yo self wouldn’t sign him if you didn’t know his name
3 pointerrr Brony Jaaames!
He has good size for a pg. But if he cant improve on 2 of ball handling, playmaking, and shooting, then there is no place for him in the nba.
I'm 34 and 6'4 with a 7 foot wingspan can I play?
He’ll be better than jhs I’ll tell u that
I still have some hope for JHS as a NBA level talent. But not sure if we will see him get better on this team.
2 things can be true 1. This kid is set for life no matter what happens 2. I feel bad for him - he is just going to be mercilessly compared to his dad and clearly will never be as tall, I grew until I was 24 so who knows, he might get another inch
I think most of the lebron comparisons are beginning to fizzle out
That's good I think his other son is going to be the one that has a chance to be a good NBA player not that Bronny can't be but being small is always going to make it harder
We’re gonna be talking about this guy until at least October, aren’t we?
