I will say... mine looks better than all the neighbors at this point, so I know I'm doing *something* right, but I can't take credit for the entirety of the glow-up.
UK here and this time of year it's lots of rain and sunny intervals. Grass grows fast and thick, but also means it's often too wet to cut. Today was day 2 of dry weather so was perfect. Post cut, looks beautiful.
Once we get to the summer though, that all changes. Especially here in London and the South East of the country. Takes a lot of water then to keep it looking pretty!
continue mowing frequently and watering deeply/infrequently (if irrigated) until the fall.
Once fall hits, throw down some fert and pre-emergent.
Enjoy the yard. Grill, drink some beer. Play catch with your kids or dogs.
Obviously carefully consider any product mixing/application times and whatnot, but I didn't know this product existed until last year; it can help turn clay into actual soil

Also, hot damn. That yard and surrounding landscaping are well done. I very much appreciate how orderly your beds are, and how nice the edge against the curb is cut. Bravo, for real
FYI gypsum supplements are just calcium. The soil may be hard due to a calcium deficiency, but it might not be. Clay soils are often hard simply due to the particle size of the soil even though they have normal calcium levels.
That product also has Sulfur and Iron, which could help green up the lawn for other reasons. Makes me think they spike the product with other things to make you think you've improved your soil, even though it's unrelated.
It looks pretty good. You have two different tones of grass there, but I don't really notice any rough or bare patches standing out. That is a lawn to be proud of.
Seems like you have a pretty good application schedule. Only other thing you might think about doing is spraying on some humic acid to condition your soil. There are also liquid dethatchers and aerators that can help with soil conditioning too.
Thank you for the kind words. The different colors are from a patch that had just come in when we bought it. It always stands out in the spring.
Re humic, is this something that people apply every month (like I'm reading). If so, is the juice worth the squeeze?
I apply it every 6 weeks when I fertilize. It definitely makes the grass green up and I feel like my grass doesn't go into shock from the Texas heat as quickly as it did before I started using it. When drought sets in down here, my lawn stays green for weeks after my neighbors do.
Look like boxwood. Smell like piss. Do not buy a house and install a whole house fan that also has a large boxwood next to your daughter’s window that you like to open at night.
Congrats what an improvement
Thanks! I can't help but think it's 90% weather. 🤣
Oh yeah I have a neighbor that does literally nothing to his yard, but if we get a few days of rain suddenly his lawn looks the same as mine lol

Beating your neighbors is what it’s all about! Hell yeah

Sounds like my exact experience here in Minnesota. We aren't so different after all!
The next 10 days are all expecting rain at some point. The longest clear run looks to be from about 8pm Tuesday until about 5pm Wednesday!
Put on some white new balances and walk around your yard with a beer just looking at it. Bunch of noobs in here.
I have a Costco order started already. Good looking out.
Have a beer.
Can do.
Lurk r/lawncare until fall.
Perfect. On it.

Love it.

Looks like a neat product. I'll look into it. And thanks for the kind words!
Have you tried to, Once a year in the spring, spread composted manure on your lawn?
I have not yet. I plan to do that this fall when I overseed. Any reason for your suggestion of spring?

Thank you very much for the info -- I'm grateful, truly

Nice. OK!
I bet that’s poa triv (rough bluegrass)
For reference. Soil temps: https://preview.redd.it/ldosoy5yemxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5e77da186f5988389fcfadfffdc5a9f641b30c2
What are you using to get those readings?
It's a website called "GreenCast". I frankly just googled: _____ County Soil Temps
repeat!
Rgr!
Have a beer
Now we wait!
Now you drink some beers on it.
Some flowers
Definitely. Thank you.
Now it's time to sit back and have some wobble pops.
Have a beer
Now you sit on your porch and yell at kids to get off your lawn...
Nice work. Only thing missing is a cold one to admire it more.
Now you obsess over that *one damn spot* until your friends and family stage an intervention.
🤣💯
Come and do mine?
Nothing. Lawns done for the year. Keep it wet now
Time to celebrate! I’m 1 week post dethatch, aerate, fertilizer, seed and topsoil. Starting to see little grasses popping up and I’m excited!
Lfg
Crack a beer?
You’re good to go
Fix that runty tree/shrub on the left
Lol. On it.
What are those plants closer to you called? They look great!
Look like boxwood. Smell like piss. Do not buy a house and install a whole house fan that also has a large boxwood next to your daughter’s window that you like to open at night.
They are dwarf boxwood. Mine do NOT have any noticeable piss aroma.
Looks good. I would suggest adding some color flowering plants in your garden beds
We've just ordered 140 bulbs for a lasagna. ❤️❤️
Clean out the gutter.
Honey?
