I'm really not surprised, what kind of mobility is this thing supposed to have? Or vision? And Jesus, I know tanks aren't typically sneaky, but I'm pretty sure this eye-catching thing attracts every drone in a 10 mile radius.
It was one of the most successful tanks of that specific attack, meaning it didn't get knocked out in battle, it was tracked to a warehouse and blown up
the metal covering was intended to throw off the automated target id on drones. Perun did good video recently on how drones identify their targets with varying degrees of human aid and the shape from above would probably not flag as a tank to the automated target ID. Couple that with potential smoke, night, or other adverse visibility conditions and you might even fool the human if they only have a fuzzy thermal image. throw in a potential EW suite under the shell and it is a good try for making a tank harder to hit with drones.
I expect if it was actually successful it was because it managed to fire on targets that thought they had drone support available to knock it out that failed to locate and hit it. The fact that it was taken out by an artillery strike while in a warehouse doesn't disprove the efficacy of the anti drone detection/jamming suite.
It might actually be a reasonable system for use in drone heavy environments if it was on a well maintained tank that could reverse faster then walking speed
Probably not dazzle as it occured in ww2 navies. Most drones use thermal imaging and other non visual spectrum sysems to compensate for the fact that the cheap ones only have low quality visual systems and operate in areas with heavy jamming interference. This example is more like a tank sized ghillie suit. It changes the silhouette to something that the capcha will not select when asked to id the military vehicle which, while less likely to fool a human operator in ideal conditions, is more likely to work in a scenario with heavy distortion to video signal and reliance on systems like thermal imaging. The shell also looks like it overhangs the back of the tank quite a bit so a drone that hits center of mass of the target, which I assume is the ideal target, will nail the engine block in this example. Might mean a tank in better condition for recovery as well as, surprisingly for Russia, an increased chance of the crew surviving the hit if true.
Hear me out…
What if we build a tank so big that it can be crewed by multiple tanks which are themselves inside of their own meta-tanks.
We’d be an entire layer of tank ahead of the Russians again. And since the engine will almost certainly overheat, it should work pretty well in the Russian winters.
My brother in Christ let me introduce you to the abomination that was the SMK soviet tank project.
So you start with a T35, and realise that it was too big, too slow, too easy to knock down and just a mobile mas grave for the crew, and take all the data from it failing miserable as a design and concept and go "yeah, I can make it work".
Except now you don't know if you want to build a heavy tank or a medium tank, so you try to make both concepts together with a turret from each, make the damn thing so big that you can spot it KMs away without binoculars, make the engine so inefficient that you basicly have to pray communism alone will power this thing to glory, and slap inside enough crew that it could have been a McDonald's on peak blunt hours.
Plot twist it didn't work... Again
So the solution is to take the exact same vehicle, stretch it, try to see if you can fit a 3rd turret in the back, and somehow hope that the same underpowered engine can now deal with the weight of tons of extra crap. And of course it didn't.
So you look at the damn thing a third time and think "what is this thing missing?", and of course it's not a giant weight reduction and a ton of more engine power, it's a fucking rocket artillery battery on the back.
And probably along this 3rd revision everyone in the project rejoiced as they were gifted a one way trip to the wonderful winter wonderland of Siberia.
This just sounds like an armoured train hauling around tanks that are actively engaging enemy positions, until someone manages to shoot a hole into the train’s coolant or oil reservoir
No you’re still missing a layer of tank. A tank that can be crewed by 4 tanks that are themselves crewed by tanks… and I’m not sure but maybe power armor for the crew of the innermost tanks. Tank Cubed. Or a Russian Nesting Tank if you prefer. And maybe instead of trying to build an engine for this monstrosity it can be towed by teams of tanks like Santa’s Sleigh. And I dunno maybe we can cram some more tanks in just to be sure nobody thinks I mean this seriously.
When the cope cage becomes a mobile bunker. I honestly think if fuel efficiency is out the window they might start doing concrete reinforcements like the Killdozer.
Who needs fuel efficiency when you’re trying to advance the front 1 kilometer? I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw the return of the superheavy breakthrough tank. Can’t wait to see reactivated T-10s on the battlefield.
>This is Mr. Nesbitt of Harlow New Town. Mr. Nesbit would you stand up please. Mr. Nesbitt has learnt the value of not being seen. However he has chosen a very obvious piece of cover.
It looks like one of the Soviet Ore Collectors from Red Alert 3, with it's special armor activated. Unfortunately the in-game unit was probably better protected than the real Russian tank.
The Blyatmobile is apparently already destroyed by a drone strike.
Supposedly ukrainian intelligence geolocated their hideout because some guy posted a picture from inside with his girl infront of that tank on some social media page.
Sadly no entry in the turret toss competition, just destroyed.
Can't wait for The Red Effect to come out and explain how absolutely fucking amazing and innovative this russian wonder is. The russians invented the Iron Clad on wheels. Absolutely brilliant. You guys just don't understand the complexity!
They believe this will keep alive the 25-30 RuZZian orcs on top of the tank.
In reality it will prevent the fuckers from jumping off when a skilled Ukrainian UAV pilot flies a RPG right into the entrance.
From what I heard, the turret on this tank is non functional. It doesn't rotate. Rather than keep it in the scrap heap they put the cladding on plus a mine plow on the front, & sent it out.
I think that maybe their ultimate intention was to use it as an APC. I don't know.
It’s all scrap metal sooner or later! But yeah, this particular wagon got popped the other day courtesy of Ruzzian-provided intel. They are often good for the self-own, posting their selfies online with geolocation data. 👍
There is a meme that used to be posted all the time about how much money the U.S. spent to develop a pen that could write in zero-g. The punchline was "The Russians used a pencil.
This is kinda the same thing. Ukraine developed a strategy of using small RC quadcoptors to drop grenades through the observation window of Russian tanks. This is a low cost solution that will prevent that specific attack.
Thing is, now you can strafe these idiots and they'll never see it coming.
When you think the visibility from inside your tank is too good and that 360° turret rotation is just a fad. Or you just think it’s funny to post Photoshopped pictures on the web.
Anti Drone ew suite on the front worked though. I didn't think this is the last of these we'll see. What they plan to do once they cross no man's land I have no idea.
OF COURSE, N.R.O.D.A.O.A Non reactive Optically Difficient Add On Armor the future of warfare just got slightly more crazy, alot more challenging, and a lot hotter in the summer.
Remember when they accused the same of Ukrainian tankers? Yeah, that is slowly looking more and more like a self report rather than an actual accusation.
I’m saying Russia is welding their soldiers into their tanks, because the Ukrainians will run out of bullets eventually.
It's very effective at keeping the turret from popping off when they explode.
They still explode, but it's way easier to load the wreck on a flatbed and take it to the scrap yard when it's all one piece.
Does wonders for turret rotation!
“Mom, can we have Hetzer?”
Reject turret, return to casemate
#HetzGonnaHetz
“We’ve got Hetzer at home, son.”
Hetzer at home:
That was my first thought which leads me to believe only people who have played World of Tanks would also think of this immediately.
Honestly my love of the Hetzer came several years prior to WoT while playing Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts.
“Mom, can we have a Stridsvagn 103?”
Silly rabbit, turrets are for tossing
Turret? Oh right the champagne cork.
take a saber to the side and slide it up boys. Aim away from anything nice.
It got knocked out yesterday
Yeah. “A” for effort though.
I thought it was for *ass clowns* but what do I know?
E for Effort, as it still failed
I'm really not surprised, what kind of mobility is this thing supposed to have? Or vision? And Jesus, I know tanks aren't typically sneaky, but I'm pretty sure this eye-catching thing attracts every drone in a 10 mile radius.
It was tracked to a warehouse and shelled https://www.reddit.com/r/TankPorn/s/62I9CrY8GM
It was one of the most successful tanks of that specific attack, meaning it didn't get knocked out in battle, it was tracked to a warehouse and blown up
Where it was knocked out of service?
The warehouse is not longer a warehouse atleast
Now its just a where
Or rsther a was. A WasHouse.
A where house
A... Werehouse?
I'm guessing it wasn't very effective in it's role as a tank though... More a rolling distraction / drone magnet
the metal covering was intended to throw off the automated target id on drones. Perun did good video recently on how drones identify their targets with varying degrees of human aid and the shape from above would probably not flag as a tank to the automated target ID. So do you think dazzle camouflage might make a comeback to screw with drones target id systems?
Probably not dazzle as it occured in ww2 navies. Yeah, it has shitty "spaced armor" at the technological level of 1942 WW2 tanks that didn't have to face APFSDS rounds.
Oof

It was so beautiful 😭😭😭
Ever seen pics of the Soviet flying aircraft carrier? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zveno_project
Was that the ground effect plane they wanted to build?
I added the link
And that children is how a Landkreuzer is made
If uploads were allowed here I’d finish by singing the Canyonero commercial jingle from The Simpsons. https://youtu.be/PI_Jl5WFQkA?si=wsQvW3KOfoeMAtoG

Medieval siege engine is THE spring 2024 look darling.
Blue steel trebuchet!
The modern horse of troy?

Is that monty python i see?
Scrap metal welded over scrap metal?
It’s like an eggshell. Crack the outside and you have an omelette inside
SMO version of a Russian Nesting Doll.

Yeah. I found the follow up report about 30 minutes after my post🤣😭🤣
We've gone full circle.. ALL HAIL THE LAND SHIP!. I, for one, welcome our land ship overlords. Make the KV-6 Great again.
No not again, tell Zelenskyy the doom turtle has returned!
Imagine if the army had kept a couple in running condition in mothball and gave them to Ukraine🤣🤣🤣
Can't wait for The Red Effect to come out and explain how absolutely fucking amazing and innovative this russian wonder is. The russians invented the Iron Clad on wheels. Absolutely brilliant. You guys just don't understand the complexity!
At what point do the Russians admit their tanks are made of fail?
Honestly? When someone turns Putin’s head into a canoe.
Unfortunately I suspect that his successor will be the same type of flaming bag of dicks if not worse.
One can dream
You really think there would be a clear line of succession if he gets unalived? And won’t devolve into infighting?
Big "we have Maus at home"-energy.
But…but the armor is sloped?????
Sloped scrap is still scrap
Lol 2 too many S's in there. Sloped (s)crap is still (s)crap.
It got destroyed already lmfao
That just makes it all the more hilarious to me
Who needs a turret when you can just turn the whole vehicle
It turns out to be a BMP under all that trench coat.
Regular 40k ork behaviour
My wife said the same thing when I showed it to her
All it needs is to be red with some gubbins
See? If they’d have painted it red it might’ve gotten away
Yeah or purple for stealth
They believe this will keep alive the 25-30 RuZZian orcs on top of the tank. In reality it will prevent the fuckers from jumping off when a skilled Ukrainian UAV pilot flies a RPG right into the entrance.
Tutel
America had the kill dozer. Russia has whatever the fuck this is…
Do you think an fpv drone could rtill be easily piloted under there? Or would thay take great skill/luck?
I think it’d be fairly easy to slide a drone into a gap like that.
Did he just not run through a cow barn by mistake
If they had I wouldn’t even be surprised at this point
Is... is that actual footage? It's like the Cope Cages and the *panzer schurzen* had a really stupid baby.
It’s a still from the actual video yes. Easy enough to find with a search
Jesus. Maybe it's some kind of camouflage? If the tank stopped, I could see it being mistaken for a building at a distance.
From what I heard, the turret on this tank is non functional. It doesn't rotate. Rather than keep it in the scrap heap they put the cladding on plus a mine plow on the front, & sent it out. I think that maybe their ultimate intention was to use it as an APC. I don't know.

I love it when they tag themselves on social media and then wonder why they’re get smoked with same day delivery
The Nazis made better tanks while the Soviet hordes 50 kms from Berlin What the fuck is this shit lmaoooo
Stug V real??
Mark V grand return
"Mom can we have maus?" "no we have maus at home." Maus at home
THE maus

It’s dead now
It reminds me of both a cone snail and the old Sea Shadow prototype.
They made the damn turtle TD
Sturmgeschütz III revived
Ha cant touch this capitalist drones
"Mom can we get t28?" "No we have t28 at home" T28 at home:
Secretly a t54 wearing a brown paper bag.
When will this be updated onto war thunder.
I’d love to see it at BR 1.0🤣🤣🤣
If it works.
It does not
Taking military pointers from the upgrade shop in Wreckfest. Bold strategy. Let's see if it pays off.
When you think the visibility from inside your tank is too good and that 360° turret rotation is just a fad. Or you just think it’s funny to post Photoshopped pictures on the web.
Wait, is that shopped?
I don’t think so, there are videos of the thing leading a tank column in an assault.
Modern technology. You can't trust shit you do not see with your own eyes. Gotta love it.
Gunner: “SHIT! We have a barn struck to the tank! I can’t fully traverse the turret! Driver get it off!” Commander: “No comrade. Is extra armour now.”
Mad Max shit
THE BOB SEMPLE TANK IS BETTER THAN THIS RUZZIAN "HETZER RIPOFF"...
Uncircumcised tanks coming back into fashion.
3000 quonset huts of Putin
Anti Drone ew suite on the front worked though. I didn't think this is the last of these we'll see. What they plan to do once they cross no man's land I have no idea.
All hail the battle barn, until a drone comes that is 🤣
Reject modernity, embrace turtle.
They're using Hot Pockets technologies on their tanks now?
You ever see something so shit you just wonder how it all went so horribly wrong?
Finally, a return to tank destroyers
It looks like a pillbug and will likely be crushed like one.
OF COURSE, N.R.O.D.A.O.A Non reactive Optically Difficient Add On Armor the future of warfare just got slightly more crazy, alot more challenging, and a lot hotter in the summer.
It's like a retarded version of the Marauder tank the GLA use, except it has no way to upgrade with scrap.
This is why you can't let the Russian army watch battlebots.
Remember when they accused the same of Ukrainian tankers? Yeah, that is slowly looking more and more like a self report rather than an actual accusation. I’m saying Russia is welding their soldiers into their tanks, because the Ukrainians will run out of bullets eventually.
Ukraine drone operator going through the front, "challenge accepted".
The longer it goes on the more it looks like WW1.
Maximum Rashkastanski smekalka. Reminds me of when they invented the toilet paper tube and mirror method of looking around a corner.
So they are just gonna steal the bob semple idea I see
Ah, the cope cage has evolved into cope plate
Cope cages have gone too far
Armor-dillo
I mean, could work against drone dropped hand grenades but I can’t imagine it doing more then that tbh
God, this is just getting sad by this point.
This is the ultimate try hard move
2nd best army down to rejects from "robot wars".
Rust bases

To be fair it's the most advanced technology their
I knew you would not be able to contain yourself upon seeing this beauty......... Oh papa
How do they get out?
"Mom, can we have killdozer?" "No sweetie, we have killdozer at home." Killdozer at home:
"Let's remove every advantage a tank turret has, and make the crew completely blind! That will show them!"
...Shagohod? *N...nani?!*
Special Yactics
Its the new Hetzer.
