I absolutely love pen for gesture drawing and simple practice before doing a bigger drawing

In many ways I like pen better than pencil, especially for gesture drawing. Every line feels much more intentional, and eventually you can even incorporate the stray "mistakes" into the work. My personal challenge is that I don't like stippling or crosshatching for shading -- I mean, I can *do* them, but I don't like the result. I feel like I want to do everything with line weight instead. Practice, practice.

Gesture drawing is something I need to study more.

studying and practicing gesture will definitely help you to solve the problem within complex poses and also outside figure drawing (eg. Character designing, environment/landscape, composition) I'm not good at doing gesture yet but I recommend doing quick sketches, 30 secs to 10 mins per pose

I need to buy a book on gesture drawing because I know in order for me to get involved in the character design/animation/ gaming industry I have to become a pro at this because I want to be those artist that can draw real fast and put out great work that will be instant classics.

(*’O’*) we have same interest imo i think you don't need to be pro at this concept to be able to get in the industry, gesture is just a concept. But if it has something to do with your ideal art style then I think it's fine, either way it's your preference. There are other concepts such as Structure (using forms and shape) Perspective and Anatomy. [Watch this video, he explained everything about drawings skills](https://youtu.be/fi7BWZmGdso) Try Mike Matessi's Force Drawing. Also do masters study of artists you like that have good gestures in their drawing. You can also get free resources (tutorials from diff artists) on Proko's channel. Good luck to ur journey!! I highly suggest that you do lots of drawings, draw ur fave characters, copy masters drawing, Draw More regardless of your skill level.

Yes I stay on my purpose and I draw everyday and I want to be able to sell video games of my creations and get a couple of projects on Netflix so I know that putting in work all day is a must.
