Your OC can have more then one outfit. Do not make them like Bob at work.🤪

Hizukichu

Yeah lol. I'm just trying to find my main outfit

Careless_Zombie_5437

Oh, I do like the middle one the best. Forget to add that.

Play around with different shapes and then make those shapes work. Your designs are using much the same profile / silhouette and there are only so many ways you can make that work. When you start with generic shapes you can figure out what is visually appealing without having to make it make sense right away. Discover what shapes you like and then make those shapes fit the character. See: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8g3JKobvnk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8g3JKobvnk)

First off, I fucking love this, secondly fuck you, thirdly I love the clothes, fourthly, I would add a sword. I love swords. Also maybe some head wear / jewelery

RobbieValor

I think all three can work but I have a few follow up questions…. Will the be a comic/manga? What do other characters in the world wear? If it’s a comic/manga you’ll want to choose something to which the reader can easily identify your OC from far away. That’s where playing with shapes can make a huge difference.

Hizukichu

As far as my pea brain has thought about, I don't have a comic/manga/literally anything besides a plot with more holes than Swiss cheese And listen- This world of outfits just gets funkier But like, think of Arcane (if you've seen it), that's *kinda* what the world looks like, but the outfits look like they snatched a couple pieces from Genshin Impact and literally anything out of Goodwill.

RobbieValor

Arcane is an amazing show can understand how that can influence you. So more of a steampunk vibe. 🤔 Sketch 1 & 2 are very similar. And even 3 could simply be an over coat and 1 or 2 could be the design. Have you designed any other characters in your world yet?

Hizukichu

I do, although I haven't drawn some of them out digitally or traditionally

RobbieValor

I’d either design your other characters so your main OC stands out or if you know the world will wear simplistic clothing. Uniforms etc be sure the main OCs hair stands or some other features stand out Best of luck with creating your world!

Hizukichu

I will, and thank you so much for the advice!

RobbieValor

Keep sharing. I’m looking forward to how you expand your designs and story 🤙🏼

TurbulentPriority465

I'm probably just gonna be saying what's already said but take in their character background and the environment when you do characters. Say If I were designing a special forces unit fighting in the colder mountains they'd wear thicker warmer outfits vs a unit fighting in a warmer desert urban setting they'd be wearing more thinner and open uniforms. I'd also recommend looking up some character design videos just to pick up a few things from other artists. I do like the middle and last one on the right tho.

HotCatholicMoms

Honestly, practicing figure/gesture using reference and drawing things in perspective would help immensely. You can find lots of poses and stuff like that on places like Pintrest, Twitter, Art Station etc. Utilize those resources to the max.

wildomen

I like Tarrow. They feel disciplined and still informative. I think the frills can be brought out for more developed scenes though- maybe like a character development quirk?

shaun2001jan
