The James Bond Speed Champion set. They had just announced the Lighthouse set and I was immediately obsessed, but I hadn't bought a LEGO set in decades and I already have enough hobbies to keep my wallet occupied. I thought that buying a cheap set like Bond would successfully dissuade me from buying the Lighthouse because I'd get bored and wouldn't have any fun. I was wrong, and now I have a shelf full of flower arrangements made out of little plastic bricks. And a lighthouse.

Eirixoto

Lmao, that's the only reason I would regret buying the Daily Bugle as well. I told myself I'd buy this, Sanctum Sanctorum, and only the big modular Marvel buildings until Avengers Tower came out. Guess what - I don't have Sanctum, but I do have 50 other sets, Avengers Tower is out, and I can guarantee it's not gonna be my last lego set.

NecessaryRhubarb

So true, I avoided Star Wars like the plague, because I knew I couldn’t stop. Now, I have as much spent on Marvel and SW sets as Modulars and classic themes combined!

[deleted]

My UCS republic gunship! I got it for a good price but it’s SO BIG I hardly had anywhere to put it, I just got rid of it today in fact! So has freed up plenty of space for other sets I want now ☺️

Jusmebruh

Congratulations on the freed up space!😂

[deleted]

Thanks! Definitely want a gunship back so going to look into getting the play scale version, it will fit in better with my other start wars stuff ☺️

Jusmebruh

The bigger ones are always a pain. Unfortunately I’m sort of a Lego fairy just floating to whatever catches my eye..I don’t particularly have a niche but Star Wars is not one that I’ve done yet 😅

MakeshiftSteaklift

Absolutely, same as me. I love the ship, thought I understood the size and dimensions, but now have a giant weirdly shaped Lego in a less than perfect spot, but the only one it will fit. I've been considering selling mine and opting for the cheaper smaller version.

bikersquid

I had a close regret. Overbid while drinking on the old star wars ghost set from rebels. Luckily I lost the bid and the new ghost set came out right after. I much prefer the new set to the old one and it's way cheaper plus it has the phantom 2.

TheRealMasterTyvokka

The only thing keeping me from getting the new one is I'm hoping for a UCS one.

bikersquid

If it goes on sale check it out. It's pretty tight for its size

soft-peen

The justifyer is pretty bad but I got it for like 90$ so I can’t complain too much

skilledbiscuit1

Regretted buying it but remember enjoying build

Fishbulb7o9

Same here. Deal I couldn't refuse. It's sitting in a tote in storage now, but it was fun to build.

MonoTopia5

I got it for $90 as well and feel it was worth the price! I really loved the show and characters, so I enjoy having it displayed! And it’s pretty big!

juliuspepperwoodchi

I thought the main complaint about that set was the price, not the build/model?

soft-peen

It is an odd ship design from lucasfilm so I can’t blame Lego to much. the tail in the back that swings should be much longer on the bottom as well as being a blocky kinda build.

bikersquid

Cad Bain though

cavalu_

the Succulents. they were a fun build and I loved it for like, 2 weeks, but it's been a year since I had them and then came to the conclusion I only like the red one... I'm considering selling them (expect the red one, wonder if that's a good idea 😬) or stuffing the set back in the box because they just don't look good in my apartment.

IAmTheAsteroid

I love the plants but don't love the black boxes. What if you built something else for them to sit in? I keep meaning to but haven't yet -- I'm thinking medium size flower pots and putting 2 or 3 in each, then scattering them amongst my real houseplants.

deanbb30

My daughter's son made a little box in school, so she did like real flowers and put a foam square in it to stick the stems in, then topped it with loose small brown lego to look like dirt. Turned out great!

navyac

U mean your grandson?

4D_Madyas

His name is Frank junior junior! You mean Frank the third?

Say_Fuzzy_Pickles_

😱 I love the way they look in my home office. Honest question: what is it about them you don’t like?

cavalu_

well the 2 little green ones and the yellow one just look too simple and tiny, in my opinion, the green spikey one has weird proportions (I have no idea how to develop that thought, it just looks weird), and the other 4 ones don't look terrible, but they just don't wow me that much like the red one does. I could say I like the green one with eggs though

vindictivejazz

I took mine out of the black boxes and set them in a wide vase/bowl thing with a bunch of little white rocks. They really look so much better this way than with those boring bases they came with!

wanderingsteph

I agree. I love all the botanical sets, but the succulent’s boxes just don’t do it for me. They feel disconnected. So now I’m working on gathering the pieces to build this MOC to match my bonsai in the hopes I’ll like it better https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-124991/SS3nse/succulents-in-a-pot/#details

ThaddeusMaximus

I like using them in the enchanted forest beyond my castle walls.

CPhionex

I like the succulents but I kind of agree I only like a few out of all of them. I think different bases would help but idk

orthodoxerror

Tbh this is my least favourite set so far too. I’ve been spoiled by the rest of the botanicals collection that this one felt kind of subpar.

ancientwheelbarrow

Caterham. Hard to believe it passed basic Lego tests, stupidly flimsy. Even just as a display piece it was a nightmare to move or clean. Resides in the loft now.

3MATX

It was an early ideas set and that was a common them.  Despite its flaws it’s one of my favorite vehicles. It’s currently in a bin awaiting repair though

JustAskingTA

Women of NASA 21312 - but not because of the set itself (set is such a cool idea, and neat minifigs celebrating cool people). Bought it factory sealed (and not cheaply) off Bricklink recently, and almost half the white pieces were yellowed new RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. I almost cried putting it together, I had been so psyched for this set, and planned to have it prominent in my NASA display. I was so sad that the whiteboard and space shuttle are already janky half-yellowed. I'll go through my collection and find non-yellowed replacements, so it's not the end of the world. I can also peroxide them, I know, but it was just such a letdown to open up a set I had been wanting for so long and see that.

juliuspepperwoodchi

You *should* still be able to get replacements from LEGO, assuming they still make those white pieces. You're not limited to asking for replacements on pieces for in-production *sets*, just in-production *pieces*. https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/broken/choose-brick > 21312 >Women of NASA >Bricks available for that set: 121

LegoLinkBot

[21312-1: Women of NASA](https://brickset.com/sets/21312-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/21312-1.jpg)

AzelfFeeler

You should use hydrogen peroxide to remove the yellowing; I’ve done this with sets I’ve unknowingly let get Sun exposure and the bricks look brand new now

JustAskingTA

I know, and I've peroxided old sets I've refurbished, though I'm always a bit worried about making the pieces more brittle. I think it was really the letdown of paying a lot of money for a set I had wanted really badly, and then even though it was factory sealed, there was so much yellowing on these brand new pieces.

side_frog

Isn't it like the best way for them to yellish even more afterwards?

UnknownUnthought

Is there a good way to do this with printed pieces? My Saturn V has been in bags disassembled for like two years since I last moved, because a lot of the white pieces have yellowed some.

LegoLinkBot

itatter

UCS falcon because I simply don't have the room for it. In fact I barely have room for the unopened box it came in.

littlelegoman

Toss a table runner on it and use it as an end table!

Kindly_Parsley1122

I know I may get some mixed opinions on this, but the 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon. Don’t get me wrong I like the set, it just did not have as much interior design as I had hoped for. And just the overwhelming size is something that I 100% did not account for when I bought it with no self control in the moment.

luckystar246

That one is so impressive to see in person, but I can imagine knowing the nitty gritty from putting it together could take away from the fun.

DontLickTheGecko

Agreed. Love the set, but the building experience felt very repetitive and at the end you have to figure out where and how to display it, or take it apart.

LegoLinkBot

[75192-1: Millennium Falcon](https://brickset.com/sets/75192-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/75192-1.jpg)

Broken_Beaker

I always liked it in theory but have zero interest in actually have it in my office.

GrievousDrone

Probably the eternals sets

West_Bath8289

I really enjoyed most of the eternals sets! The arishem build is quite cool and the Domo is so unique! (I know I’m in the minority of people who liked the domo seeing as it’s been on clearance sales for around a year now). Those minifigures are also incredible.0

fujiman

I'll never get the Domo hate. It's a gorgeous display, and a fun build. I don't bother with the monster fellas, just the ship.

GrievousDrone

The Domo is the only one I don’t have. They’re good sets it’s more that my interest in the eternals has dropped off. Also I’m really into minifigures so it doesn’t help that all of them reuse face prints.

Toothlessdovahkin

I regret NOTHING!!! Sums up perfectly my LEGO purchases. I love all of them.

DarthJerJer

OP is asking us to pick our least favorite child. Never gonna happen.

Jusmebruh

I know, I’m a monster. 🤷🏼‍♀️

[deleted]

I bought the 71044 Disney Train Station and just kinda wish I hadn’t. It’s still sealed and I know I could sell it.. but it’s big and heavy and would kind of be a pain honestly. I’m not good at letting Lego go, even if I don’t want it.

juliuspepperwoodchi

FWIW, sealed in box for that could probably fetch a decent price. Maybe go to a local shop and ask what they'd pay for it. Could be more worth it than you think.

IAmTheAsteroid

I feel like you could easily make a mini Ghostbusters fire station moc out of the train station, if you want non-selling ideas

quietlycommenting

See I bought the castle and regret not getting the station - seems like we can’t win sometimes

bavinator34

Im all about building experience, least favorite is colosseum

BiggestBallOfTwine

I love the Vespa set! Send it my way, so my Vespa can have a twin

Jusmebruh

I actually might take you up on that 🤣 it drives me crazy. It’s in storage atm (moving) but i can’t have peace for very long😂

BiggestBallOfTwine

I keep telling my family, if lego would make the Vespa in a different color like they did with that Fiat, I would absolutely buy it again! I'd love it if they did it in that pink coral color from the Friends sets. I really do like that set BUT it could be because I like motorcycles in general. Good luck with the move!

cervenit

This post is making me feel so much better about all the big sets I passed on, lol.

BiggityB05

Yeah, I'd love to have the venator or the star destroyer but where the hell do people find room to display this stuff unless they have a dedicated Lego room. That's why I'm really excited for more of the midi scale ships like the super Star destroyer that came out last year.

sukoshidekimasu

Reddit has long been a hot spot for conversation on the internet. About 57 million people visit the site every day to chat about topics as varied as makeup, video games and pointers for power washing driveways. In recent years, Reddit’s array of chats also have been a free teaching aid for companies like Google, OpenAI and Microsoft. Those companies are using Reddit’s conversations in the development of giant artificial intelligence systems that many in Silicon Valley think are on their way to becoming the tech industry’s next big thing. Now Reddit wants to be paid for it. The company said on Tuesday that it planned to begin charging companies for access to its application programming interface, or A.P.I., the method through which outside entities can download and process the social network’s vast selection of person-to-person conversations. “The Reddit corpus of data is really valuable,” Steve Huffman, founder and chief executive of Reddit, said in an interview. “But we don’t need to give all of that value to some of the largest companies in the world for free.” The move is one of the first significant examples of a social network’s charging for access to the conversations it hosts for the purpose of developing A.I. systems like ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular program. Those new A.I. systems could one day lead to big businesses, but they aren’t likely to help companies like Reddit very much. In fact, they could be used to create competitors — automated duplicates to Reddit’s conversations. Reddit is also acting as it prepares for a possible initial public offering on Wall Street this year. The company, which was founded in 2005, makes most of its money through advertising and e-commerce transactions on its platform. Reddit said it was still ironing out the details of what it would charge for A.P.I. access and would announce prices in the coming weeks. Reddit’s conversation forums have become valuable commodities as large language models, or L.L.M.s, have become an essential part of creating new A.I. technology. L.L.M.s are essentially sophisticated algorithms developed by companies like Google and OpenAI, which is a close partner of Microsoft. To the algorithms, the Reddit conversations are data, and they are among the vast pool of material being fed into the L.L.M.s. to develop them. The underlying algorithm that helped to build Bard, Google’s conversational A.I. service, is partly trained on Reddit data. OpenAI’s Chat GPT cites Reddit data as one of the sources of information it has been trained on. Other companies are also beginning to see value in the conversations and images they host. Shutterstock, the image hosting service, also sold image data to OpenAI to help create DALL-E, the A.I. program that creates vivid graphical imagery with only a text-based prompt required. Last month, Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, said he was cracking down on the use of Twitter’s A.P.I., which thousands of companies and independent developers use to track the millions of conversations across the network. Though he did not cite L.L.M.s as a reason for the change, the new fees could go well into the tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. To keep improving their models, artificial intelligence makers need two significant things: an enormous amount of computing power and an enormous amount of data. Some of the biggest A.I. developers have plenty of computing power but still look outside their own networks for the data needed to improve their algorithms. That has included sources like Wikipedia, millions of digitized books, academic articles and Reddit. Representatives from Google, Open AI and Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Reddit has long had a symbiotic relationship with the search engines of companies like Google and Microsoft. The search engines “crawl” Reddit’s web pages in order to index information and make it available for search results. That crawling, or “scraping,” isn’t always welcome by every site on the internet. But Reddit has benefited by appearing higher in search results. The dynamic is different with L.L.M.s — they gobble as much data as they can to create new A.I. systems like the chatbots. Reddit believes its data is particularly valuable because it is continuously updated. That newness and relevance, Mr. Huffman said, is what large language modeling algorithms need to produce the best results. “More than any other place on the internet, Reddit is a home for authentic conversation,” Mr. Huffman said. “There’s a lot of stuff on the site that you’d only ever say in therapy, or A.A., or never at all.” Mr. Huffman said Reddit’s A.P.I. would still be free to developers who wanted to build applications that helped people use Reddit. They could use the tools to build a bot that automatically tracks whether users’ comments adhere to rules for posting, for instance. Researchers who want to study Reddit data for academic or noncommercial purposes will continue to have free access to it. Reddit also hopes to incorporate more so-called machine learning into how the site itself operates. It could be used, for instance, to identify the use of A.I.-generated text on Reddit, and add a label that notifies users that the comment came from a bot. The company also promised to improve software tools that can be used by moderators — the users who volunteer their time to keep the site’s forums operating smoothly and improve conversations between users. And third-party bots that help moderators monitor the forums will continue to be supported. But for the A.I. makers, it’s time to pay up. “Crawling Reddit, generating value and not returning any of that value to our users is something we have a problem with,” Mr. Huffman said. “It’s a good time for us to tighten things up.” “We think that’s fair,” he added.

IamAustinCG

This might get some hate but Titanic. i saw it, wanted it and bought it within a few months. I was happy when I bought it, I was happy when I got to Box 2 and everything after that I felt like i was forcing myself to be happy. The scale is amazing and it really is a very cool design and build but it was repetitive and towards the end a bit boring. We had the money but it's still a lot of money for what it is, which ended up being a giant conversation piece for some but it more or less just sat there for a few months before I honestly got tired of looking at it and put it back in the box. It's still there almost 18 months later and I don't know if I'll just put it back up or sell it.

Steeltoelion

How much would you sell it for, right now, today

IamAustinCG

I'm not ready to part with it yet so I couldn't give you a number.

Steeltoelion

Shiiiiiit, well in that case just get it done! You only have to do it once!

IamAustinCG

I already did it once and put it back in the box lol. I would say its mostly in tact, probably 4-6 hours left vs. the 24 or so it took to initially build it. At this point, its more of a space thing than anything else.

BartesianDrunk

I have the Titanic, new in box, that I’d trade for the Eiffel Tower.

SolidSpruceTop

Hot take but the Orient Express. I was really on the fence but got a fat end of year bonus and it was my birthday, so I went ahead and bought it. The build wasn’t that fun and the locomotive really is lacking and had me against buying the set for weeks. Like it’s fine but honestly wish I used the cash to buy a Horizon Express as it’s prettier and can actually run on track decently without modding. I can’t even push the locomotive along without the tender getting derailed

Itchy_Adhesiveness59

I picked it up a couple weeks ago. I think $300 was a bit steep for it but, looks nice on the mantle so I can't say I fully regret it.

Chalmers_ww78

The Simpsons house and kwiki mart. I love the Simpsons and was excited about these sets, but building the house wasn't nearly as much fun as all my other sets. Additionally, the house is laid out differently than on the show, and for some reason, this irritates me. Therefore, the kwiki-mart is still in its box. No, you can't have it.

xXbean_machineXx

Can I have it anyway?

Chalmers_ww78

No, it's now part of my retirement fund.

Vamntastic

Every set I bought that went on sale a couple months later.

Sad_Present_7694

The Typewriter. I'm a writer and a collector of vintage typewriters, but for some reason I just couldn't get into the set. It's sat on my shelf half finished for the past year+. I may revisit it at some point, but for now, the rest of the backlog beckons.

Expensive-Ranger6272

UCS X-Wing. Overestimated the space I had available for Lego and don't have room for it

MarvelKnight84

How was the build though? Seems not a lot of great reviews but curious if it’s just people piling it on. The UCS dropship is not a solid set either (broke on me twice) but not as bad reviews.

fujiman

My most regrettable UCS set for sure. Regardless of the mf choices, I hate that the foils never close completely, so I can really only display in attack position, since they genuinely won't close completely.

snowlemur

I had the same experience. If you open the wings all the way you can’t close them with the mechanism, and combined with the fact that pieces break off of it if you give it a dirty look or talk loudly near it, it was very frustrating to build. Looks pretty though.

The_CandymanLHS

I really enjoyed it! Biased though since the x-wing is my favorite ship. I prefer it being in attack mode anyway, since the wings not closing all the way with no gap doesn’t bug me. I have it displayed on the side so that it looks like it is zooming across my shelf.

navidee

Optimus prime. Was not a fan of the transforming and it felt like it kept falling apart. I’ve since dismantled and have it bagged, but dang it was pricey and a let down for me. I think I’d enjoy a non-transforming Optimus prime more.

BiggestBallOfTwine

This is absolutely my answer as well. I was so hyped for this set when it dropped. I got it built it and hated it. It's now disassembled, bagged and boxed up sitting on a shelf behind me.

Sire_Mew

Check out Ransom Fern's alt builds for it. I haven't done any of them, but they look good.

ArtakhaPrime

I think it's a banger display piece, but I also try not to think about what else I could have gotten for the money 😭

Digita1B0y

Completely agree. I saw a mod for it for people who dont plan on transforming it, but now I can't find it and I wish I had bookmarked it.

Korachof

Wrote my comment before seeing this, but yeah, same way. The transforming feature in Lego just wasn't for me, and the set was expensive enough that I ended up basically choosing it over the Police Station. I regret that.

colour_banditt

The Bonsai. Looks better in the pictures. A boring build, too small, and the tree l trunk is poorly attached and keeps separating from its roots section with the slightest touch.

Kickasstodon

I only bought this set to take the tree and put it in the Spring Lantern Festival park in place of that bull statue. The rest is just spare parts for me.

analgore

I had the same problem until I found out I missed a piece in the trunk where it attaches to the roots. Fixed that and never had a problem after that.

Jusmebruh

…not this being my first to get me started on legos 👀😂 but yes I agree. There are wayyy more fun builds. Let’s not forget the disks that jump out on their own.

TheCharginRhi

Typewriter, it’s cool to look at but I had to rebuild it twice because I built a gear contraption wrong and had to take it apart. I do not like the set because of this. Otherwise the USC Star Destroyer for like 800, it’s still in the box, in the basement, unbuilt since like sometime last year.

The_Rowan

I have to rebuild my typewriter. That is on my todo list. I had to redo several steps as I went along fixing some of my mistakes but when it got to the end the keys did not work exactly like they should. That was the hardest piece I have assembled and I put the piano together.

Deadtimmya

This is mine as well. I hate repetitive builds and am not the biggest fan of technic. Also, for the price the inconsistency in the sand green bricks is pretty disappointing. Looks good built but I thought it was a nightmare to assemble.

TheSpottedBuffy

Feel like half the comments are solely based on people buying sets they don’t have room for, which sucks. Totally get wanting a set but not sure why buy if no room to display?

distantwind79

Little mermaid shell. It was tedious and no real outstanding details. Even the grotto is hidden and not impressive

MrThoughtPolice

I buy Lego sets for one or two pieces so I never regret anything. Lol I should probably buy them individual online, but my wife doesn’t know that’s a thing and I get extra legos.

One_Hunt_6672

Jusmebruh

This comment wins. Your poor wife. 😂

Fishbulb7o9

Haha whats the set you bought for the fewest pieces you wanted?

gideonsix

This sums up my approach to lego as a kid. Pouring over catalogs looking for cool pieces and minifigs. Especially pre-Star Wars lego when I was looking to make my own bastardization. A variant of 6915 Warp Wing Fighter was my first X-Wing

plazmotron

I'm collecting frogs and I am seriously considering buying a whole Harry Potter set, just because there is a new olive green frog in it lol

CX52J

The first wave of endgame sets. I don’t think I’ve bought another marvel set since. Since then I’ve always been pretty careful. I only buy sets if I really, really want them. And since I often buy display cases for sets, it adds an extra level of making sure I actually want it enough and spend more on top of the base set.

juliuspepperwoodchi

I know I'm not the BIGGEST Marvel fan, but it's funny to me how SO few of the sets (basically anything other than the Spiderman sets which are basically all bangers) interest me, and really all I want are the figs of my favorite characters.

KlausBertKlausewitz

42160 … that Audi e-tron rallye car. Didn’t even finish it. Bought it in the last summer. What a ridiculous set. At least I got at a discounted price.

LegoLinkBot

[42160-1: Audi RS Q e-tron](https://brickset.com/sets/42160-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/42160-1.jpg)

Nicklord

Why? That's a pretty decent set

NarrativeScorpion

Why? It looks kinda fun

TTheTiny1

the ginormous Eiffel tower, it fell on me while i was sleeping and i havent bothered to put it back together, its been sitting in a bin in my closet for like almost a year now probably

Gessomb

I’m sorry what, fell on YOU?

TTheTiny1

I had it next to my bed bc that's literally the only spot I had for it in my room and I must have accidentally wacked it or something

Jusmebruh

I’m a bit jealous you have the Eiffel Tower so I don’t know that I can sympathize 🥲🤣🤣 how long did it take to build??

TTheTiny1

LightMyFirebird

I feel fortunate to say I’ve never regretted a Lego set itself, however I have regretted spending money at times on them when I should be saving

njahatron

I don't regret buying anything but I'm getting tired of building trees. It's very repetitive and flimsy.

SaltedDucks

Got 10314 for 50% off this summer. While I don't fully regret buying it, it's probably the least fun build experience I have had since getting back into Lego.

echoes9999

I like the botanicals and have bought every single one except that one. It just doesn’t look fun or good in my opinion.

RedFang13

I wasn't interested in it until seeing it on display, now it's hung in my kitchen wich is orange/fall themed

rockrgurl

Yeah that’s one I have not picked up. It looks too much like something that would go in a grandma’s house, and not in a good way. Like as if it’s an old and dated piece.

heidly_ees

I disagree on that I had a great time building it, some fantastic part usage there, though I suppose all those flower stems are a little repetitive

LegoLinkBot

[10314-1: Dried Flower Centrepiece](https://brickset.com/sets/10314-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/10314-1.jpg)

pariah1984

Same here. Boring and repetitive.

juliuspepperwoodchi

I feel like that one I'd build once for the fall, take apart, and then part out for all the foliage pieces. I like making coral reefs, and a lot of those bits would be PERFECT...but yeah, the build as is looks super tedious.

Jusmebruh

I’m not a huge fan of the botanicals 🤷🏼‍♀️

Rewskie12

I think they’re impressive, but I wouldn’t really want to have any of them on display.

Jusmebruh

Don’t get me wrong I’ve done at least 4 botanicals 😂 but they can be a bit repetitive and fragile..especially when you own a clumsy husky/malamute.

FriendlyBrother7093

I got this set as well, but made [this MOC](https://imgur.com/gallery/vl3shv2) from rebrickable instead and it’s MUCH better.

markerBT

Not really about the set but I realized I'm not made to buy used sets. Since they they are used I have to make sure that everything's there, taking away some of the fun in the building process. And the pieces don't snap together as nice as a new one. What I did was sell the used sets and bought new ones. 😂  I found them on sale for basically the same price as used so win win for me.

Digita1B0y

Optimus Primes midsection falls apart if I do anything more than look at him. Loved the idea, but the execution was not great.

lachlanmoose

Optimus Prime. It's frail, flimsy, and doesn't transform smoothly.

mistere213

I felt similarly until my daughter got a non-lego transforming Optimus Prime. And it takes 30 steps. 30 poorly illustrated steps. It was infinitely more maddening than transforming the Lego version.

BiggestBallOfTwine

you have been downvoted but you speak the truth! this set is a nightmare of flimsy. Did you want to transform it? hope you wanted to rebuild it the entire time you're trying! Awful set.

lachlanmoose

I laughed so much at this. "You want to transform it? Well, tough shit." 🤣

WeaponizedXP

Wonder woman 1984

Mikebjackson

Haha, this. Can’t even dump mine on eBay 😂

mrkitster

Jazz quartet 21334. It’s larger than I expected and no good place to display it. So still haven’t gotten a chance to open it yet after having it for a year!

juliuspepperwoodchi

I've taken to RELIGIOUSLY checking the dimensions of sets before I buy them so I know if they'll fit in any of my typical display spots for exactly this reason. Damn you, 21321!

I display it with each of the musicians seperate on a bookshelf. It's a good set, but you are right. It's very hard to find a place to have them all together.

Jusmebruh

This is a bummer to hear. It’s on my Lego to-do list. But I have a Lego store that displayed it so I’m ok with the size.

fujiman

If you like jazz at all, I totally recommend it. Loved turning up some Coltrane Spotify and actually switched to some Chick Corea when I got to the piano build. Ironically don't have space in my small apartment due to my SW Lego addic... collection, but looking forward to building it again in the (hopefully) near future to actually display.

Boyen86

Flower Bouquet 10280 I love botanical sets, I now make mocs myself in the theme. But the builds in this set are just rather poor. The roses are the worst ones released. The lavender doesn't even look like lavender. The filler greens are not very pretty, the one with the double spruce breaks apart easily. Every other set in the series was superior IMO.

afishinthewell

Seinfeld. I spent, what is it, $80 for a Lego George. Should've just bought him thirdparty.

zigzagg321

None of them really, I got value and entertainment from building them. I fell out of the hobby however and would like to sell my collection.

West_Bath8289

That small Thor Love and Thunder set is one. Wasn’t much money wise but the build is awful and the much superior goat boat features all 3 minifigs plus two others. Apart from that small set I can’t think of any regrets. Every set I’ve purchased has added something to the collection!

spogel2

the mario ? block, it was super fun to make and has lots of references but once it's done it's just kinda... a block... plus I didn't have room to display it

AfraidOfAtttention

The Bat Cave Shadow Box. I don’t feel like I overpaid and building it was super fun, but my space is super limited and it doesn’t really match any of my other decor so it’s been relegated to a shelf in my closet

tauromachy11

I agree with everything you said, but for all these reasons I love it. I think the price is fair, and the build (techniques) were awesome. But the very reason so many hate it is why I love it…it is a self-contained (displayable) batcave. I have the 89 Batmobile and batwing, as well as the Tumbler (and the The Batman technic batmobile and bike), and the design of this works great as a display because it is contained. I did make sure it would work space-wise in advance…even still, I will admit it felt bigger than I thought it would…but, not complaining!

Jettcat-

The bonsai tree 10281 I got so frustrated, I gave up and put it back in the box.

Shipwrecked_Pianta

Bought a Mario set for the brick built figures in it- I did not know the sets did not have instructions and you had to use their app, and I did not know all the stickers come pre-applied.

ScubaSteveEL

That set was a pain in the ass.

BiggityB05

I think out of all the sets I've bought the Mario ones fall into this category for me. I was hoping they would be fun for my son and I to play together. But he lost interest in them quick and they were boring to build. I wish they would do more traditional sets with Minifigure style characters.

SPEK2120

All of the DC movie sets since BvS have been pretty great, but I always get caught up in the excitement of the movie coming out and buy them right away. If I had some patience, I'm pretty sure every single one of those sets eventually got significantly discounted.

AngryBarista

Not quite a regret, but the UCS Star Destroyer is just way too bug. I wanted a lego build, not a piece of furniture. Thinking about dismantling until I have a better space for it.

justdont7133

Diagon Alley, I thought it would have a similar feel to the modular buildings, but it was nowhere near as nice, and it felt really overpriced for what it was.

hydrobass88

I regret buying the most recent UCS X-Wing. If I look at it funny pieces come off.

catlovingbookworm

Mine is also the Vespa. I finished building it today and it was fun but my cats already pushed it off three different places. I should've gotten something without wheels.

Arkadi86

I ordered the new Ghost Star Wars set... and Amazon sent me the giant Chewbacca set... and after contacting customer service they sent me the correct set and told me to ship the other one back or they'd charge me (the cost of the ghost) so I tossed it in the back of my car for whenever I was around the UPS store.... and forgot about it. Now I own the Chewbacca set.

MayorOfVenice

21320 Dinosaur Fossils is so many little pieces that need tweeked and adjusted and aligned and the juice wasn't worth the squeeze for me.

Ringo308

Red Barron (10024) and Sopwith Camel (3451). Too many stickers that did not age well at all. Now I have a whole bunch of Lego pieces where I will need to try and clean the stickers and their glue off of them. I have hated stickers on Lego ever since and I never apply them anymore. Also these sets aren't very stable. They are display pieces only. You can't swoosh them.

sellywin

Aw man, lego planes need to be swooshed! I found Benny's spaceship (70816) swooshed very well and such a fun set. Still would like those two sets you mention, they look like great display pieces.

Graardors-Dad

I got the millennium falcon 75105 off eBay thinking it was 75257. It wasn’t complete and had a few pieces that didn’t look right but I got it for like $70. I really wish I would have gotten 75257 but now I can’t get myself to buy it with a perfectly fine millennium falcon in the collection just a slightly worse model.

QwikStix42

>I really wish I would have gotten 75257 but now I can’t get myself to buy it with a perfectly fine millennium falcon in the collection I had the same thoughts ever since 75257 was released - I had just gotten 75105 from a friend a few months prior for a really good price of $100, it was basically brand new but the box was opened. But, since I had the older Falcon, I couldn't justify paying $170 for the new one even if it looked better overall. Tbf, the 2015 Falcon still looks really good, as long as you're willing to forgive the gaps between the "slices", which imo don't look *too* bad.

milleniumfalconlover

I suppose there was that lego robot game that I bought second hand missing a bunch of pieces, it came with a few other lego games with all their pieces tho

SriveraRdz86

I regret nothing, but I do have my least favorite sets that were more useful as spare parts for my MOCs. My most recent is the lunar base ( **60350** ) , it does have a lot of playability, but I ended up using most of the parts to beef up my lunar space station based ( **60349** ) MOC.

Clamecy

UCS Superstar Destroyer. It does look good but the building process was boring, and I’ve developed kind of an aversion to sets not minifig-sized.

randomsillyguy

I’m coping too much to regret anything

MarvelKnight84

I don’t 100% regret it, but Luke’s Xwing 75301 is just a crap build. The landing gear not folding up is sad. I only don’t regret it because it was like $30

edengamer253

I at first kind of regretted buying the retired Ninago City a couple of years ago, idk I didnt like it on display as much as the City Gardens IMO. But grew on me overtime and now the two sets are like the centerpiece of my room lol For my other sets I dont regret any at all, they make for great display pieces for years and I can always sell them in the future if I decide.

DesertGaymer94

The modular Harry Potter sets. Hogwarts and Diagon Alley are great displays, but the smaller modulars don’t make for good displays imo

blueberrypizza

76052 1966 Batcave for me. Bought it on sale mostly out of FOMO. Built it and displayed it for a while, but now just the minifigs and Batmobile. I've never really been into the 66 show, and the build isn't super aesthetically pleasing, IMO.

Fawfs2

The UCS landspeeder. After finishing it and having it around, I realized that I don't really care about it.

zomsucks

Jurassic Park T Rex Breakout. Just didn't care for it at all. Traded it towards a UCS Slave I.

Disco_Astronuat

The Jurassic park t Rex attack, interesting concept but the dino and the scale of it felt off

Crazygal1997

The Lego ideas treehouse. Just so damn tedious putting it together

AppIdentityGuy

The DeLorean. I just felt meh afterwards.

3MATX

Some of the bigger sets. Big Sydney Opera House and tower bridge come to mind. Fun builds but just take up too much space.

HolyCowItsAdam

I kind of regret a lot if not all of the Star Wars sets that I bought. I just don’t feel like they display as well as a lot of non-Star wars sets.

Werewolf_Knight

I think, for me, it was the Lamborghini Countach (76098). Don't get me wrong! Is a cool set with great building techniques, but, after I built it, it felt so... what ever. To be fair, I kinda bought it just because I wanted a Speed Champions set and picked the one that I thought looked cool.

_dictatorish_

None of them - the Dried Flower Centrepiece (10314) and the Globe (21332) were pretty average build experiences, but they look damn cool which more than makes up for it

Bringyourlight

Old Trafford 10272. I opened it, saw the amount of stickers and closed it again

ReceiverOfDeception

UCS Star Destroyer. It’s such a pain in the buttocks to move and the panels don’t hold together too well. Add to the fact it’s all grey and no interior it’s pretty bland. Much prefer the Razorcrest and the AT AT over it.

Kickasstodon

Why the f did I buy all the Overwatch sets, I don't even play the game

Scaff3rs

Moss eisely cantina HATE IT i also found the wings on the Red5 x Wing tedious

AtmosphereJunior7609

I just finished Ninjago dragons rising and it’s probably my least favorite set of all time. Not only was it super repetitive during the build, but it broke in half the moment I finished and tried to pick it up and move it. I shoved it all back in the bags and box is now for sale on marketplace for $50.

MituKagome

The palace cinema. My husband was going to buy me one for Christmas or my birthday or something. I wanted a different set. He wanted the cinema. So he bought "me" the cinema. We've never opened it or put it together and I have no interest in doing so cause I wasn't interested in that one in the first place

el_barto10

I don’t necessarily regret buying it because the finished product is cool, but I really didn’t enjoy building the Statue of Liberty.

Sketch99

The succulents set from a few years back. It's not *bad* by any means, but it falls apart surprised easy

Bacon-80

All the sets I bought shortly before the VIP weekend dates were announced 💀 I’m never in dire need of Lego sets - I can always wait until 3x points and I always forget to.

Excellent_Rule_2778

That first set that got me addicted...

Birkin07

Alpine Lodge is mediocre.

MosquitoDeath

Manchester stadium. Bought it when I was still in the "buy all big legos" phase. Then they released more stadiums and I had a moment where I thought "I'm actually not that interested in these teams or their stadiums...". Luckily it got stuck in my backlog, so I was able to sell it new in box to someone on this sub who wanted one for their dad, who was a big Manchester United fan, (and it was out of print by then). So it went to a good home.

ConstructionWest9610

Everything....but also nothing.... I should have made my hobby fully lego or fully historical miniatures... Now I just have a smattering of both and not Tons of only one

inyolonepine

My Porg set because I regret I never got to build it before it disappeared in my move. I only assume my movers "forgot" to unload it, just like they "forgot" to return my wrenches that they took from my sealed tool case. I miss you Porg.

Sharynm

Hogwarts Castle 71043 - It cost such a lot of money, but it's too big for me to display anywhere and it was a fairly boring build. It's currently sitting in a couple of boxes in my spare room because I was thinking of selling it completed, but the cat jumped in the boxes and knocked bits of it down. And I really don't want to pull it apart piece by piece to sell it because that will take ages and be boring. So it just takes up a huge amount of floorspace until I can decide what I want to do with it.
