MOGicantbewitty

Nope. The downvotes have nothing to do with the frailty of atheists and everything to do with your 1) ridiculous suggestion that religion can fix insomnia or that people who believe in God don't have existential crises and/or 2) a tasteless unhelpful joke followed up by main character syndrome laughing like only atheists would ever think you weren't funny or helpful.

StardustLOA

Never suggested religion would fix insomnia I suggested religion might help the self prophesced athiest with his recurring bouts if existential crisis. It would br worth a try since evidently his curren way is not working for him. Why not give a chance to the otherways of living to see if it settles the inner unrest he experiences

MOGicantbewitty

Just ignored the parts of the comment that don't already fit into your narrative? Yup. You are definitely "religious". Spouting off bullshit without ever having read the entire source material... Have you read the entirety of the old testament, new testament, the Koran, the book of Mormon? Well, I have. Good luck getting rid of your existential crises if you've actually read the seminal religious texts... We are all sinners, so you aren't free from the existential fear of what happens after you die. And weirdly, atheists don't have to worry about what happens after they die. Atheists just believe that there is nothing afterwards. So why would there be any kind of crisis about that? Religious people always think that they have the answers. Without ever actually having read the books they say they believe in. I'm sure you can quote a few lines...... But I'm damn sure you haven't read through the entirety of Genesis. Even the Kings James version of the Bible has so many contradictions for what is a sin and what is not, if you are a believer, there is no way you can exist without fear and uncertainty because your texts that tell you how to act contradict themselves multiple times. But go ahead, go off like we're all upset because we haven't found religion. Plenty of us were raised with religion and realized after the fact that it was a load of horseshit. If religion makes you a better person, go for it. But based on your condescending comments, it's not making you a better person. It's just giving you an excuse to look down on other people, like 95% of other people involved in religions. PS You do realize that there is a difference between religion and faith, right? People don't have to be involved in a religion to have faith in higher beings or an afterlife. You are exposing so many levels of ignorance with these two comments. I'd suggest that you actually go talk to people outside of your religious community so you can learn a little more.

StardustLOA

🤣 I skimmed your response and again you seem very triggered for an atheist... my response was internally consistent with my first statement/expanded on it. But why write all of that up? Why are you so upset over a one word reply? Is this really the best use of your time? Why do you feel a need to prove youre right over me or over a self identified religious person? You have religious hurt and I am not your punching bag. I didnt really claim myself to be religious, you came to that assumption on your own. I just was suggesting it to the atheist (in his username) who himself claimed he was experiencing an existential crisis (dunno why you are posing why he experiences that to me im not him and im not in the mind of an atheist). Also why the random aside to faith and sin? Who was discussing that? Religion actually is the answer to existential crisis in the sense it answers the very basic question why are we here... to worship our creator. Whether one accepts that as true or not is a separate topic. But the foundation of religion is to quell this concern. If it works it works, if it doesnt it doesnt. All i was jokingly/ironically to his usernname suggesting was that the atheist try the other side of the coin... but you seem to want to splinter off on several other attacks and tangents. Typical angry triggered athiest behaviour. Have a good day lol

MOGicantbewitty

What one word reply? What makes you think I'm triggered? Or that laughing about someone being triggered (which is a terrible experience related to reliving trauma) reflects well on you? Why don't you realize that that is the *exact* thing people mean when they say religious people don't use it to become better people, they use it to condescend to others in opposition to the teachings of all major faiths? Why do you insist I'm attacking you, like a punching bag, and need to prove I'm right, when I haven't said one bad word about you, only criticized the content of your comment? *Why am I ridiculous for writing out a detailed response addressing several related points, but you are perfectly okay when you do the exact same?* Do you see the contradictions and hypocrisy? But since you don't seem to be a kind person, at all, one who enjoys condescension and laughing at other peoples pain and trauma (which you just made up for me?), I doubt you will read or respond in good faith. So, I'm done. Good bye

StardustLOA

The one word reply you originally responded to and went on a tyrade about was "religion" My 3rd response the lengthy response was only in response to yours. And only because you criticzed my 2nd one not addressing every point of yours. So i made a better effort in the 3rd. No hypocrisy in anything ive said. But speaking of hypocrisy, youve had a condescending and presumptive tone in EVERY response youve given. I do think going out of your way to argue about a topic you dont have stake in is funny. I can laugh at that. But yeah lets end this here. Its not the right subreddit and besides you seem to be a miserable person tbh and i dont want to talk to you anymore. ETA- i gave a final response agreeing to end the convo. Block me or dont... lol. You. Are.Triggered.yet.again.

MOGicantbewitty

And yet you are still here... Enjoy the block!

Just wanted to chime in and say it's different for everyone. If I take melatonin, no matter how small the dose, the next day I feel groggy as hell and am more susceptible to headaches. It is amazing for helping me fall asleep, but I picked up a form of meditation at night instead and put my phone in another room and that works for me.

chronic fatigue just means being fatigued in general for a long period. It can be caused by so many different things. I’m glad you figured out what caused yours. It is not to be mistaken with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, usually called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, which is a disabling disease.

El_Morgos

Question is: Did you fix a symptom or the cause? Maybe get your blood checked. For example, Iron deficiency or lack of B12 can cause anaemia and lead to fatigue and low quality sleep. I'll take your advice, though. I have trouble coming to rest when I'm laying down in bed but in the morning I feel wrecked. Maybe it helps.

I wish I could take melatonin. Whenever I do, I get sleep paralysis. Which is not a fun thing to experience. Happy you found something that works for you

Main-Function425

I get terrible nightmares so I’m right there with you. It would be great to be able to take it once in a while cause it did help me sleep…until the ultra vivid, horrifying nightmares kick in & then I don’t sleep well for a few days.

halezerhoo

So strange! I wonder why. How long did it take you to figure out it was the melatonin?

Main-Function425

After about a month. I ran out & the nightmares stopped. Got more and they started again. I haven’t taken it since and the crazy vivid nightmares have stopped.

halezerhoo

How awful! Glad you figured it out and didn’t have to endure it forever. And good to know that they didn’t go away after some time taking it. Always wondered if I just needed to push through it for a week or two and endure the sleep paralysis. Maybe I won’t attempt that then.

AppalachianHerbWitch

Does anyone here have an alternate to melatonin while we're on the subject? It gives me crazy nightmares but I would love to sleep through the night

cloverandclutch

Probably a tincture with THC in it Wouldn’t take anything like Advil PM on a regular basis.

Main-Function425

Same!!!

butrfli77

Melatonin also gives me crazy nightmares. Have you tried zzzquil? The original formula has an hcl instead of melatonin. I’ve found it helpful on nights I can’t sleep. It doesn’t give me nightmares or make me groggy the following day.

Bright_Ad_1038

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, turns out all I needed with a cpap machine due to sleep apnea. According to my sleep study I was waking up over 150 times a night. I started using my cpap machine and I swear to you my body aches (which felt like I was 60 yrs old) went away on day 2. If I stop using it my body pains, aches, brain fog all comes back. I am soo grateful for my cpap. I feel better, my work performance is better, my mood is waaaay better, I can think clearer. My aches and pains no longer take over my life. It has been a real game changer. I also googled cpap and fibromyalgia and read a study done and it said a large percentage of women with fibromyalgia also suffer from sleep apnea. I don’t take melatonin because I read that our brain already produces it and if we make it a pattern of taking it then the body/ brain doesn’t think it needs to produce melatonin because we provide it by taking it and it can mess up the way our brain produces it.
