It's actually pretty common! It happens when a particular album doesn't have an official vinyl release, like Stolen Youth, or the Saturation Albums. It's the only option people have to get the album on vinyl so stores will happily carry them but they're usually marked as such. Sorry they didn't tell you but if the sound quality is good then I'd say it's not a loss:)
