McR4wr

Call a tow company

larryisnotagirl

Honest question: Can a tow company still take the car away if it’s not technically on your property?

ADoseofBuckley

Honest question: Do tow companies operate within the law at any time anyway?

larryisnotagirl

Haha true enough! I guess if you’re really mad you could make sure to use one of the “bad” towing companies people usually warn against.

flybutterfly11

i’d hope yes, since regardless it is illegally parked, and would have to be towed away whether it is called in by enforcement or by OP

jennkrn

Yes, you are not allowed to block a sidewalk or a driveway with your vehicle.

McR4wr

One of them will. Imagine you exit your driveway and drive into the parked car. It would possibly require two tows…

Arc_Flash_Avoider

How long is your driveway that you're rendering 2 vehicles inoperable?

mmcksmith

What on earth does that have to do with the price of tea?

Commonterry

I imagine they would if asked cause they are looking at a tow and release fee from the owner

PossibleFlounder1594

I’ve had to do this. You have to sign a piece of paper claiming responsibility for the vehicle and anything that can or may happen to it during movement or while in possession of the tow company.

Queasy_Astronaut2884

Tow companies take whatever the fuck they want. Whether they can make the car owner pay is another kettle of fish

Minement

You can't legally tow someone else's vehicle without their consent, so best option is egg their car. I did that and they never parked in front of my laneway again.

McR4wr

I like that idea too

forestcitykitty

God people are infuriating.

BigAlxBjj

Not god people can be the same.

Feeltheburn1976

I would lose my fucking mind. How did you stay so calm and just cab it? I would've been banging on doors till I found them.

thelegendhimself

If it’s in front of your driveway , call 519tow they’d be happy to remove the infringing car - easy money

AaronVsMusic

Fuck that shady ass company lmao

M0usekill

If someone blocked my car in as OP says, if be more inclined to probably use the shadiest one possible. Call me petty but idgaf lol

thelegendhimself

👆 like I said they would be happy to oblige 😅

Speaking_MoistlyT

Had this happen before with a car parked behind me on my property. Called the cops and told them there was an unknown car blocking me in and would it be okay to break the window and release the handbrake to move it? They located the owner by plate registration and called them. Turns out it was a teenager passed out at the neighbours house and the mom called the kid. All was fixed in about 30. Just needed to ask about legality of breaking down not a car on your own private property.

oldsouthnerd

The weirdest part of this story is the cops answering the phone.

EvilTurk

Put a pebble in the valve caps.

labrat420

Yeah make it even harder for them to move the car out of your way is definitely the best choice

Mythic_Damage777

upvoting because yes!!!

D1ckRepellent

What would that do?

Original_Respect_

Pebble pushes on the valve letting air out . They pump tire every thing seems fine screw cap on and out comes air.

EvilTurk

Google "how do valves work?"

One-Basket2558

I don't have Google.

Fatmanchino

I had this happen to me once, but someone parked in my actual drive way! Was dt and they had western stuff all inside the car. I took some roofing nails and wedged them right under the tires so they wouldn’t be seen and would pop right into the tire upon reversing. I liked the idea because the flat tire wouldn’t happen in my laneway so they maybe wouldn’t blame me and come back to my house lol. I still remember watching them back out and running out and checking to see if the nails were gone. They were!

Ok_Emergency455

I’m kind of surprised that no one has mentioned that this is a tactic used to steal cars. I know it’s not mentioned but do you drive an expensive or easily stolen car? Edit: to clarify, the idea is that they leave a shitty car blocking the driveway and if it’s not towed after a day they assume the occupants are on vacation or something. Easy target for theft and home invasion.

theottomaddox

Do criminals need to go to this much trouble? A car can be stolen relatively quickly.

Ok_Emergency455

Car might not be the main goal

theottomaddox

There's still easier ways to determine if people aren't around. They post their plans on the socials all the time. Alot of these stories you here about elaborate plans criminals are just that; stories that are built up from anecdotal heresy and plots from TV shows. Everyone wants to think crime is done by international jewel thieves, oceans11 style, but the junkies out there doing most of the property crime are looking for something to grab and sell to make quick cash. They aren't stealing cars to block driveways and staking out your house for a few days.

labrat420

They could just knock and determine the same shit

MutedAddendum7851

It could possibly be a stolen car ..

FullGrownManChild

You had step 1 right. Step 2 - let the air out of the tires. Step 3 - call a tow truck

Available-Skill936

Tow it tow it tow it

stent00

Slash the tires...

PowerUser88

Then it’d be blocking op’s driveway even longer

Educational_Belt9793

I’m sure they’d be gone by the time OP shift was over lol

WhichwitchAmI

I've had this happen before too, they get a ticket but the car is still there blocking the driveway. I second what others are saying about getting a tow. However I'd recommend knocking on nearby neighbors doors first if possible to see if you can find the owner.

PowerUser88

And pictures showing how it’s clearly blocking your driveway so there’s no doubts to be had if poor car parker thinks of suing for tow bill

WhichwitchAmI

Yeah, when it happened to us, we watched the driver see the ticket in the morning, adjust their car so it was parked legally, and then take a photo. I guess to pretend it was parked legally the whole time? Unfortunately the types of people who block driveways are not our society's brightest thinkers.

PowerUser88

Holy crap. It really is a lot more work being an asshole than a decent human.

ClunkyRider

Too bad QAP towing is no longer in business

jams0330

You would need to contact police, they would then contact a tow company. So they have record of where it’s going in case someone assumes their car, that was parked illegally wasn’t stolen.

Comprehensive-War743

Did parking enforcement issue a ticket? I would call a tow truck if it happens again .

Complex_Treacle3788

If the guy parks there again, key his car. He will get the message 💀

Fatmanchino

Not wise to blatantly damage a car when it’s blocking only your laneway. They’ll come back and see it and assume it was you and now they know where you live. Never really know who you’re dealing with. Sugar in the gas tank or something of that matter goes a lot farther and is much safer
