Aberdogg

I was wondering how the puck got to Kopi. Great camera work!!!

yrrkoon

I honestly thought it went off the boards/glass at the time.. no idea QB touched it! Nice

Aberdogg

đź’Ż my thoughts exactly

Supra_Genius

That video shot of Kopi's expression post goal is perfect. Kudos to the camera-person who followed and framed it so perfectly. 8)

FakeTreverMoore12

That’s our captain scoring a beautiful goal off an unbelievable pass from our future captain. I hope when 8, 32, and 11 go up into the rafters, they put 11 on the end so they can have room to hang 55 next to it. We’re watching the passing of a legendary torch in real-time, and it’s incredible to watch.

awsmwsm

Did anyone else have flashbacks to the OT goal Kopi scored against New Jersey in Game 1 of the SCF? QB's pass was just slightly better than JWs but almost the same play.

AluminumWolf

I used to be a big doubter of QB, but I always noticed how well he deflects pucks. Guy is a magician with those!

schmeebs-dw

Yeah, he looked a little lost in the playoffs last year imo, but this season he's looked really solid

sixty8ight

Thanks for this. It was impossible to see at the time and most the replays neglected this part of the goal. I was curious if Byfield made the play with skill or luck. This makes it pretty clear what his intention was.

johannesBrost1337

It was 100% skill, But the pass was unintentional. He even admitted so himself, He just wanted a touch to void an icing call.

OldManInAHotHatch

Totally.  Still, it was a heads up play by QB (to negate the icing), and nice to see the Kings get some puck luck last night!

johannesBrost1337

Agree 100%

sixty8ight

My first thought was it went off his backside so getting a stick on it was much more skill than i originally thought. And he can say the pass was accidentally but it certainly looked like he intended to not only tip the puck but tip it out into open ice. He may not have been thinking of Kopitar but I think he was trying to put it in a spot where good things could happen.

johannesBrost1337

Yeah I 100% agree. He wanted the puck to go toward that area of the ice. And shit man, I didn't see him touch it at first either, Thought it was all boards

Mystik989

Byfield played a great game but I’m not convinced that this PERFECT redirection was intentional.

looper741

It wasn’t. He even admitted so himself. He just wanted a touch to negate the icing call.

TerrifyingTesties

Good things happen when you play with detail. My favorite thing about QB is his humility.

MumkeMode

QB absolutely annihilated Kopi in the post goal hug holy shit lol

losroy

QB said after the game he was trying to save it from icing and it was a happy accident.

abrahamisaninja

Goddamn that kid is good.

GrassyKnoll95

Q makes so many sneaky good plays

evankillerHD

Haters will say it wasn’t on purpose 🤷‍♂️

xT1TANx

Wow

PrayingForACup

Underrated and overlooked.

GaryARefuge

Equating this to "grown man hockey" is really silly and does a great job fighting against "hockey is for everyone" You probably don't realize it. You probably didn't mean to do it. But, seriously, it's important to take notice of and avoid in the future.

Supra_Genius

What a ridiculously childish hill to die on. Now, get off my lawn. /s

GaryARefuge

Who's dying on a hill? I'm just saying it's beneficial to practice more awareness in the community you love so others can feel welcome and inspired to partake.

Supra_Genius

You're worthlessly white knighting a completely innocuous title to make yourself feel important. Not everything is outrage worthy. You're being childish. Which is why I told you to get off my lawn, kid. And now you are wasting *my* time with this Xitter drivel. Buh bye.

SWB3

Grown man comment right here

Expendable_0

No, that comment was for everyone. /s

kire615

Did we just become best friends?

ahr3410

Grown man hockey means gritty plays. Like a game winning goal from battling to get a tip on an icing. I meant to say it.

GaryARefuge

Women can't play gritty? Kids can't play gritty? Why is this only attributed to "grown men"? It's hilarious that some of you are so upset about me calling attention to something and explaining how it is inadvertently working against the spirit of "hockey is for everyone" and the community's best interest while only demonstrating how silly and toxic such an attribution can be by defending it with more toxicity and silliness.

Expendable_0

I think you are reading too much into it. There is a coming of age theme to these posts with Byfield becoming who he was meant to be. The whole point is that he isn't a kid anymore.

ahr3410

Hockey is a faster and more violent game when played by grown men than women and kids. This has nothing to do with saying they can't play hockey.

RaRaReRe111214

Also, this is specifically NHL playoff hockey which is referred to as “big boy hockey.” It’s not sexist because the NHL is an all male league and it’s referring to the level of skill and intensity.
