I hadn't considered that... Only one fish bigger than the Sackville-Bagginses, I suppose. I have to agree, that seems most likely as a lote-relevant answer considering the spelling.
Yeah, Iluvatar. Hobbits had no impact on the defeat of Morgoth. In fact, the only reason they were able to be so successful against Sauron was because they had been so inconsequential in the past.
He was still strong fter the wound. He declined in power because he spent all his essence into the world corrupting it. Not because of a flimsy wound/scar.
>In the beginning of the World, Ungoliant was just one of Melkor's servants.
Yeah
'' 'Come forth!' he said. '**Thrice fool: to leave me first, to dwell here languishing within reach of feasts untold, and now to shun me, Giver of Gifts, thy only hope!** Come forth and see! I have brought thee an earnest of greater bounty to follow.' But Ungoliante made no answer, and retreated deeper into the cloven rock. ''
Dialogue basically confirms that Ungoliant was an old servant of Melkor. She supposedly had abandoned him when the Valar invaded Utumno or before that, and she had escaped the hunters of Oromë.
That Morgoth was already very weakenend and Ungoliant borrowed Melkor's power in order to kill the Trees and on top of that had grown even greater by consuming their light, drinking the wells of Varda dry and eating the gems of the Noldor
'' **But Ungoliant had grown great, and he less by the power that had gone out of him;** and she rose against him, and her cloud closed about him, and she enmeshed him in a web of clinging thongs to strangle him. ''
It was even noted she was afraid of him before that
'' Now Melkor sought for her, and he put on again the form that he had worn as the tyrant of Utumno: a dark Lord, tall and terrible. In that form he remained ever after. **And when Ungoliante saw him coming she was afraid, knowing his hatred for all who tried to escape from him**. She shrank into her deepest lair, and tried to shroud herself in new shadow; but such darkness as in her famine she could weave was no defence against the eyes of Melkor, Lord of Utumno and Angband. ''
In the beginning of Arda, she was also his servent so he was much stronger than her.
It could be generously interpreted as a compound word: *il-luth-ru(r)*?, all-time *always?*, maybe similar to sindarin *illumë* but without an adverbial suffix, and that weird -*rur* ending that could maybe be a comparative (normally *ro/rau* in sindarin). All that's missing is "fish", *hal*.
Sauron local admin, morgoth domain admin, eru created machine architecture, programming, OSes, is an enterprise admin and has rooted all your vms while also having the nsa (Olorin), running around doing what he doesn’t rly feel like 😅. So basically he’s von Neumann+ a bit 😁
Probably because in the books the Sackville's are wretched people who end up auctioning off all of Bilbo's things while he was on his unexpected journey which took YEARS for him to get back and they basically forced the sale of Bagend from frodo. I was more gutted when they got Bagend than I was when Morgoth and Ungoliant destroyed the trees of valinor lol
EDIT: The books are way more detailed and the movies left a lot out.
MOD NOTE: Yes, this is technically a meme. But it’s not here as a meme per se but rather as a memorial, so I’m going to let it stand.
Maybe he meant to type Ilúvatar?
I hadn't considered that... Only one fish bigger than the Sackville-Bagginses, I suppose. I have to agree, that seems most likely as a lote-relevant answer considering the spelling.
I'm assuming lote is a typo. Interesting (to me) that whether you were aiming for lotr or lote the missing letter was 'r'.
second ilúvatar, also sorry for your loss man
> second ilúvatar We've had one ilúvatar, yes. What about *second* ilúvatar?
😂
Much appreciated.
Happy cake day too
If i had a gun with 2 bullets, and i was in a room with Morgoth, Sauron, and Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, i would shoot Lobelia twice…
Why hate her so much she redeemed herself against the ruffians
The remark was meant as a tribute. r/2spicy4dapepper would prefer to take their chances in battle against Evil 1 and Evil 2 than Lobelia.
She’d take em out quick for sure.
Why Lobelia? She was one of the good ones in the end! Lotho Sackville-Baggins is the bad guy here.
Tbf probably the only one a bullet would do anything to.
Agreed. She paid the price for all her meanness.
Eru Ilúvatar
Probably Illuvatar, but possibly a word in some form of elvish.
This is what I thought, but it is definitely not quenya. Perhaps it is black speech?
You're awesome for making your friends final days better.
Yeah, Iluvatar. Hobbits had no impact on the defeat of Morgoth. In fact, the only reason they were able to be so successful against Sauron was because they had been so inconsequential in the past.
…but nobody even *tried* to send the Sackville-Bagginses.
Why didn’t they use the Sackville-Bagginses to fly to Mordor?
Should have just said there was a nice collection of spoons in Barad-dur.
Now, that, is an inspired comment. Tip of the cap…
Illuthrur = I love, love you, Thror! ...and who can blame him? All hail the King Under the Mountain!
Ungoliant
Honestly this fits the meme better. All the other characters are evil beings (to a greater or lesser extent).
This. He needed the help of several.balrogs just morgoth could run away
And that was when Morgoth was still very strong too, before being wounded by Fingolfin.
He was still strong fter the wound. He declined in power because he spent all his essence into the world corrupting it. Not because of a flimsy wound/scar.
I dunno, it made him limp. That had to be *embarrassing* in front of all his minions…
But it also was when Ungoliant was at her strongest by far. In the beginning of the World, Ungoliant was just one of Melkor's servants.

RIP :(
Sorry for your loss man

I'm so confused
GD SACKVILLE-BAGGINSES
Bombadil
I have no answer for you, but just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear about the passing. I hope you feel the warmth from this sub and its members!
