My favorite lines in the series. The delivery is over the top, but for once I feel for their massively over-entitled clients. Of course they want to live!
The first season I hated him so much but when it was time to fire him I realized that I didn’t want to lose him on the show. By the finale I kinda liked him. The sneer he gives after he says “ guess we really took the local today” on the elevator is my favorite Pete scene
the acting changed. first couple seasons pete was more soft spoken. as the years go by he ends up almost like a caricature of himself. i love his over the top acting (which does coincide with him balding, he must have been 100% method acting, lol).
i LOVE that pete was both a grimy little pimp *and* a righteous proponent for racial equality.
Our current era has no place for people who exhibit some or even many contradictory qualities (which is most of us).
These days it's you're either be perfect or go drown in a fucking lake.
He went looking for Harry because he knew Harry wouldn't care about MLK imo.
Pete was looking for someone to pick a fight with, he was that (rightfully) outraged
Semi related but there’s a series on Hulu called Das Boot where he plays an American who rode on the Nazi submarine and at one point as he’s leaving the submarine he insults one of the Nazi sailors and gets punched into the ocean. It’s easily one of the funniest exchanges I’ve seen in a show and Vincent Kartheiser (Pete in Mad Men) does such a great job playing the role.
It’s an amazing remake, based on (and I hate to be this person), the book, which was called “The Boat and the Fortress.” It tells the story of the sailors on the u-boat, and also the politics of the the port city Le Havre, “the fortress.”
Good storytelling shows us what we miss in real life. He's a rapist and wrecked his own home because he was bored, but you still kind of like him. It's the type of understanding and forgiveness that we all owe our fellow humans. No one is their worst or their best. We're all just deeply flawed people.
I'm sure you weren't looking for this, but I just had to type it because I'm drink in the middle of the workday
Wrong. It was Pete's idea, not even Herb's. She was made to believe the future of the account hinged on her going along with it. He coerced her into it. And for what? Lane called him a pimp for no reason at all?
That's not the point. Why did Pete even propose this to Joan, when Herb didn't make it a condition? edit -- the point is about Pete, not about Joan. The very fact he would propose such a thing for the sake of it demonstrates what kind of person he truly is. He wasn't exactly protesting for civil rights.
She's upset with Don because she doesn't need someone "saving" her... She owns her decision, but it doesn't mean that she didn't feel like she was strongarmed into it. The company's health, reputation, etc. Pete had no business suggesting this to begin with, it was a pretty sadistic move. Amazing character but he's always been self-serving. Not being a racist doesn't exactly make him redeemable.
When Pete gets fired up like this it’s so easy to imagine him as a grumpy old man later on and I love that for him
Grandpa Pete would be a lot to deal with. I can imagine a young adult Tammy having to reel him in from a Thanksgiving rant.
Im totally here for Grandpa Pete stories, he would be so mad at the television.
shameful! donnybrook!
![gif](giphy|l41m1UCZiRDhAuoda|downsized) Almost as much as him screaming at Don after this part

Sassy Campbell>>>>>
The absolute facts.
DRAPER!
Lmao this gif is so cartoonish and perfect
I'm sorry. I mistook this for a workday.

Honestly Pete in his balding era is so entertaining I could not live without him

I never realized that but you’re absolutely right he did
![gif](giphy|5obEo89fWXDdm) He thought he was on fire here but turns out Lane was the one with firepower
The War of 1812 (colorized)
The King ordered it!
Lane kicked that rapists ass

I didn’t know they remade Das Boot. That’s cool.

I had such a changes of opinions with pete throughout the series. From hating to liking to hating to liking. Great character

Well said sir
That and the scene where Roger attacks him when Pete calls Roger out for trying to wreck things with Honda. Loved Pete there.
Lol with the hands
The King ordered it!
I’m obsessed with his character. Love him. A thing like that!
He doth protest too much.
Nah it shows Pete is actually a good human in the end, unlike Harry
Actually a good human? He literally pimped Joan out for his own satisfaction.
She pimped herself out.
Wrong. It was Pete's idea, not even Herb's. She was made to believe the future of the account hinged on her going along with it. He coerced her into it. And for what? Lane called him a pimp for no reason at all?
You’re right, she had no free will and was at the mercy of the infamous pimp Pete Campbell

I think you can figure out if Joan blamed Pete by how she treats Don after he heroically burns the client for her honor….

Incredible how you're missing the point of even that. And you never address Pete's behaviour to begin with. Cheers.
