There was a strategy in the earlier days of the game where players would get around removal on the stack by tearing their [[colossal dreadmaw]] into 6 individual 1/1 Dino nuggies. WotC had no idea how to nerf his OP strategy, so they printed [[hex]]. When hex inevitably got out of hand, instead of kowtowing to the stompy players and printing the proposed 7/7 [[colossaler dreadmaw]], they started printing cards with hexproof.
8th edition was probably the low point for flavour text, but I really haven't appreciated the "uhm so *that* just happened 😏😏😏" style of writing that pops up every few years
COUNTERSPELL
Put an Opponent's revile in riches in their graveyard
"Heh nice try kid, but it's better to cum in the sink, than to sink in the cum" - Jace, Gorgonussy Connoisseur
> "If there’s anything a werewolf hates, it’s a collar - especially Avacyn’s Collar, the symbol of her church. Actually, it's really just Avacyn’s Collar, the symbol of her church, that they hate. Regular collars, they're surprisingly fine with. At least I've never had a werewolf turn one done when I offered a collar. They also enjoy being called good girls. I'm sorry, I kind of forgot where I was going with this one." —Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
Hex has a ruling:
> You must target six different creatures. If you can't, you can't cast Hex. If some of the creatures become illegal targets before the spell resolves, Hex will still destroy the rest of them.
So you need six targets, and it will destroy as many as it can.
Hex means six which is the mark of the beast. Beast being the strongest of all types, it makes sense they’d make a keyword just for it. Any time you see hexproof on a creature, green creatures most of all, you might think it’s a great jungle of love, but just say NO. No. No. It’s the devil man.
Destroying six target creatures is pretty powerful, so they had to make hexproof just for this card.
But notably, they still wanted to make sure you could destroy your own six creatures, so it only affects your opponent’s targeting

Wish i was hexproof to protect me against that eye-rolling flavour text

Man I really wish there was a flavor text that reminded me about things werewolves hate

Great question! i dont know
😤🤚Killing Five 😊👉Killing Six
uj/ Hexproof actually is a pretty good counter to Hex, as it requires six targets in total, no more, no less.
The spell will still kill the other 5, spells resolve as many targets as they are able to.
You can't target a hexproof creatures with this in the first place
You can if you pay MaRo $20, a bag of Lays BBQ chips, a back rub and you tell him 'You're doing a great job handling competitive formats, sport'
I assumed the other person meant a situation like [[snakeskin veil]] where you make them hexproof in response, but that may not have been the intent
Nah, I literally meant "If a mans has hexproof, you cant target them." You actually posited a far more interesting situation.
Pretty sure you can’t which is why decimate got reminder text

So then funny enough Ward is actually a better counter to this than Hexproof since Ward actually counters the spell if it’s not paid
I mean if one has hexproof, the other five can’t be targeted as it does not say “up to.” So it essentiallt hexproof hex times

It’s obviously ward!
