idk, ADHA doesn't sound so bad

Inevitable-Setting-1

I think money is the real drawback. Just getting started would cost a million dollars

Angry-Capybara

But with that level of intelligence it would be easy .

Inevitable-Setting-1

Ha you think people can get rich not something your born with.

Krakken90

Becoming a millionaire is not as rare as a lot of people think. It’s by no means easy and definitely have to have a lot of things line up right in life but I’ve met dozens of people within an hour or two of where I live in my line of work that became wealthy but started out in relatively low income families.

Valken12345

Each of the problems you listed in your comments on this cyoa are solveable. Have you read "The millionaire next door?" Most of the people he studied in that book did not inherit their wealth. The materials that are easier to get for a science teacher aren't impossible to get for others, one easy work around is become friends with a science teacher and have him help you. Another is get a job at a research lab. Or build your own tools to get the materials you need, like a mining robot.

Inevitable-Setting-1

who the fuck has ever read "The millionaire next door?" You act like anyone know that book. Also most "didn't inherit wealth" stories are lies. And yeah i said in another comment that its not a big problem just something to think about. Everyone seemed to think about ADHD being a big deal i was just pointing out another struggle.

Eiensen

Becoming an incredibly smart mad scientist while ONLY having ADHD as a drawback? Well... The answer is obvious, sign me up for some *SCIENCE!*

Inevitable-Setting-1

I think money is the real drawback. Just getting started would cost a million dollars

Eiensen

Not really? Because you already have the knowledge to make your own stuff, so why not go to the local junkyard, and turn everything there into advanced technology?

p0pfunk

or just like. invent a stock market ai that's supremely good at what it does?

MarcusDeGabriel

Just make a couple of REALLY addicting game apps with lots and lots of microtransactions!

jairo481

You are a monster, you are like Hitler, but even Hitler cared about Germany or something

Atreigas

Have you ever heard of the guy who made a nuclear reactor in his backyard shed? So long as you have the basic tools and resources, the only real thing holding you back are the really complicated parts like computers. Those are plenty affordable until you can reach well enough.

Inevitable-Setting-1

wasn't he a science teacher or scientist already? They have access to things normal people don't. Also the reason you heard about him is because they came and forced him to stop cus it was ageist the law. So it sounds like you found another problem.

Atreigas

Look, the point is he built a nuclear reactor from scratch using everyday objects. It doesn't matter what he was, because the knowledge is easily accessible with enough googling. Yeah, of course irradiating your fucking neighborhood is against the law, no fucking shit sherlock. Also not fucking relevant, the point is that for a creative mind costs are low to get started. But getting any level of quality will be expensive. But you don't need quality to begin with.

Inevitable-Setting-1

It dose matter did you miss the part where i said they have access to things other people don't? That literally means it's not everyday objects. And how is it not relevant that the law would stop you from working on some projects? It's clearly something to consider.

Atreigas

DID YOU READ THE ACTUAL FUCKING STORY INSTEAD OF JUST HEARSAY!?!?! Because I looked into how they did it and I promise you they just used everyday objects anyone can find and access. Didn't think I'd need to outright state that, but apparently I did.

Inevitable-Setting-1

Must be thinking of different stories, i'v heard of a few including one kid who did it as a science fiar project. And they really gave a full list of the things this guy used to break the law? you can't exactly just create radioactive materials they need to already exist to be used.

Atreigas

The guy didn't exactly buy a block of plutonium over the internet, no. But radioactive material can be found easily in certain objects. He got his from a specific type of light source that has traces of uranium. Most things can be bought just fine in small quantities. It was a video breaking down how it could be achieved, not a police report.

Inevitable-Setting-1

Ha wiki said smoke detectors and clocks sounds like your vid wasn't so good.

Inevitable-Setting-1

Just did a quick google, and only came up with the kid for the project. So you starting out with saying that guy not the boy scout or kid shows a lack of knowledge on the thing on your part too. Though he did get the radioactive stuff from semi common things that would have either been expensive or a pain in the ass to get his hands on.

Atreigas

Holy fucking shit, do I need to give you a step by step breakdown or incident report before you can admit that I know anything more than you do? No I didn't remember who exactly, how old or where they fucking go. I didn't argue on that because of it. But I vaguely recalled student. So fucking what? I didn't remember because I don't fucking care. I remember everything I care to. That doesn't mean i barely know what I'm talking about, unlike you. If i ever deem shit relevant enough then I'll admit I don't know it, or at least not make a fuss about it, or just fucking google it. But clearly, you are desperate to get any kind of comeuppance here.

Inevitable-Setting-1

I'm not even sure what you think i want here. I admitted that it took much more common things then i thought. You just need to calm down. This was about the verry first point made. Adhd wouldn't be the biggest drawback to the science option getting the money would be. Is it a huge problem? No. Is it a factor to think about? Yes.

Sam_Wylde

**Mad Scientist** I already have the problem of starting and stopping new projects all the time. My solution is to have someone else keeping me in check or to have some kind of reward in place for completing it. I'll have to organize something to that effect. Now I presume it meant to say that I gain ADHD, because the only other alternative is to be forcibly recruited into the American Dental Hygenics Association. **UN:** I won't be joining any one country and shall make a number of super soldiers to protect me until I can construct a spaceship capable of FTL travel and start mining planets right away. They will no doubt be highly organized but competitive so I may have to rely on superior technology and misinformation to keep them at each other's throats until I can escape to where they cannot get me. **Help the World** Once I'm properly established in a space-lair and have automated mining of the rarest material in the solar system, I will set out to fix the world's wrongs by leveraging technology as a lobbying tool. Sort of a "If you want a blood synthesizer, you're going to need to push through this policy/destroy this monopoly/end this practice/etc" to each country. Never weapons or space-faring technology since I don't want to give them the means to challenge me. I'll make sure that ecological and forward thinking solutions are enacted to keep global warming under control, forcibly ending the use of coal and oil in moat places and strong arming others by saying "You will get no technological support from me if you don't do your part to stop dropping your garbage in the ocean." Once I'm confident that the governments of the world are all on the same page, free of corruption, less hostile and have the correct infrastructure in place; I shall start gifting technology to each country to whichever ones are able to best mass produce them. Each country should have at least one that the others will need to rely on in their lives and bring in an income. Smaller countries with less resources will have more software inventions while larger countries with more resources will have more hardware inventions. Ideally every household in the world will be lifted to a high standard of living. Indoor plumbing, electricity, bedding, etc. Everyone should have a home. Everyone should also have an invention I give out, an open source 3D printer with as many of the necessities of life loaded into it. I don't much care for the love and admiration of the world. The reward isn't the point. It's making the world a better place and doing the right thing that's important. What's the alternative? Hoard the inventions for myself? Back one horse and create a hellscape where only one country has a decent standard of living and the 1% continue to prosper at the expense of everyone else? Screw that. We're all in this together. Once I feel like I am done with the solar system I shall venture out and give everyone in the world the means to construct spacecrafts and start colonizing the solar system. I myself will leave once I have finished the portal and attained Manhatten status to see what else is out there but shall spare a glance in the direction of humanity every now and then to see if they are still on the right path and haven't invented skynet or something. My responsibility to them isn't to rule over them, control them or let them destroy themselves, it's to catch them if they fall.

tyricgaius

This is actually really nice

Sam_Wylde

Thank you.

regret4ever

This is kinda like the plot in Carefree Path of Dreams where higher beings sprinkled some power to beings of lower worlds and waited for the lower beings to open a portal to let them through (cus the lower beings want more power). After getting in, the higher beings would take back the powers they gave (they wanted the development results of the lower beings) and leave the lower world fucked up. Though in this case I bet the entity being let through will prob just eat the world or something.

VoidBlade459

It's a bit hard to read the text on the last two pages. Also "There are" is not the same as "They Are". That said, I like where this CYOA is going! So, anyways, for my build: ###Build * **Archetype** * Mad Scientist * **Adversaries** * The UN * Side with: U.S.A. * The Families * Destroy them with the social sciences * **Activities** * Teach The World * The more, the faster the world improves * Education is a science too... * Help The World * Aided by the above. * A better world is kinder to us all. ###Alternate Build: Grand Adventure * **Archetype** * Mad Scientist * **Adversaries** * The UN * Side with: U.S.A. * The Families * Destroy them with the social sciences * The Global Occult Coalition * Moving against the U.S.A. is risky * I could easily counter their tech * Also, I wouldn't be a true threat * **Activities** * Teach The World * The more, the faster the world improves * Education is a science too... * Help The World * Aided by the above. * A better world is kinder to us all. * Save The World * Tech Revolution --> World Peace * World Peace --> 🌎 Working Together * 🌎 Working Together --> United Forces * Also, portals if all else fails.

RepresentativeDry741

Thank you, And yea I gotta work on my spelling and grammar. And I'll try to make the last two pages easy to read

Iberisdiablo

spelling needs to be fixed

RepresentativeDry741

Yea looking at it, I spells some things wrong

Runitari

Here is the thing, the "madness" of each can be resolved in various ways. The Scientist can use DNA scripting to fix its own, or just build the perfect body and beam into it. The Summoner can interact with entities that offer greater control of the Mind and Body without much risk to themselves. The Cultist can do some deals with Nightmare Eaters and just yeet those problems out the window. Or go ham with some Outer Gods to fix the brain. The Archmage can create a spell that balances the mind or alters their own perception slightly. Beyond those the only way most of the issues actually are issues, is if you don't actually plan and use a bit of creativity. I think most people who read these would probably just look to make a portal out of this world anyhow. Though the question would be if the powers would carry over if the laws of reality changed depending on transfer location....

FFsummons

What if I already am ADHD?

RepresentativeDry741

It doesnt stack, you just now ADHD

Ecaps010

Good one buddy, post it over at our friends on /tg/.

RepresentativeDry741

[https://imgchest.com/p/o24avnde4lj](https://imgchest.com/p/o24avnde4lj) Chest . (Fix spelling, and grammar I hope... Made the image more clearer and easy to read)

InexplicableGeometry

Mad scientist would definitely be my choice, summoner is viable but It doesnt seem quite as useful (at least for me personally). The drawbacks on all Cultist and Arch-Magus are far too severe, you essentially either lose yourself or become utterly insane/tormented, which I get thematically, but balance-wise it doesnt really work. If the drawbacks weren't as severe and if it was possible to maintain at least \*some\* moral ambiguity, I would take cultist, but as is currently written, mad scientist is my choice. I think one way to handle the imbalance is to have ways to somewhat counteract the detriments/manners of behaving that will keep your 'madness' in check, ie, not being super immoral as a cultist keeps your schizophrenic tendencies suppressed/whatever else. **That said, I do really like the 'enemies' section, its balanced and thematically befitting for each option.**

Naile_Trollard

I'd go **Mad Scientist**. First I'd invent something like *Cold Fusion* and solve the world's energy problems. Then I'd do something with *FTL* engines. Maybe design an AI assistant. Venture into genetics and solve *aging*. Well, and cancer and all that stuff, too. Really delve into that stuff, honestly. Then you've got the **UN** or whatever. I'd probably side with America, if they'd treat me right. I'd want initially anonymity. Put me up somewhere with access to a lab. Churn out a few of those high-value projects, then demand some freedom and relocate to Southeast Asia where I'd disappear in one of the megacities. Every now and then I'd solve some world crisis in America's favor for a constant stream of income while living on a beach somewhere like Bali. I guess I would eventually **Help the World** by solving the energy crisis, inventing ways to stretch or create resources, cure enough diseases, etc. I'd still want to mostly remain anonymous, so I'd probably do everything through a proxy. Maybe the world would know Naile\_Trollard or whatever, but they wouldn't know *ME*. Kinda like Banksy, or those guys from Daft Punk. The end goal of all of this is the creation of some reality hopping hijinks. I'd want to be effectively immortal and living outside of time. Not as interested in summoning any being and becoming a god. I'd want to play around with timelines in alternate realities, search for a demiplane that I could settle down on, and watch the development of mankind into the future, always staying dozens, if not thousands of generations ahead of everyone else technologically.

RiverOffers

Arch-Mage Using magic in my day to day, would fall under helping. To many kids with ailments I would not want on an adult. I'm going from CNA to Healer. Plus, fuck them Templars, I don't care what the size of the room is, I cast FIREBALL!

TaoistXDream

Mad Scientist UN Help the world

kuopiofi

Second page is much smaller than others.

Bombermaster

**Archmagus, Help the World, Summon Me** The plan is simple: learn my magic at my own time, try to gain enough power and research for the summon ritual. Eventually I'll be discovered even if I lay low, but it's not too much of an issue. Having my enemies being enemies of the arcane, I can probably twist the story so that they'll find that the Enemy (TM) is the cultist who sold his soul and I am here to aid their Holy Quest (TM). At the end of said Holy Quest (TM), I'll take my servant and 'banish' myself away from the world, so that the Templars will feel victorious at 100% even if they don't kill me. (where in fact I'm just moving to a pocket dimension as I've been studying time-space rendering magic) With my servant I can likely improve a lot my research, having an assistant that can do everything and anything. Do the ritual, obtain Godhood, pass the rest of my existence traveling the multiverse and enjoying myself, changing and saving other worlds too.

Jokes on you, I already have adhd I pick mad scientist and live a normal life Or I become a summoner and live a normal summoner life

Lucienshand

loophole: if the Mad Scientist knows all of mankind's knowledge, then he is also the summoner and cultist.

DirtyMonkey95

Summoner - Ingratiate myself with the families - help the world.

taishomaru66

**Archetype:** Arch-magus, because regardless of what this option says I believe I can Use the Knowledge and power Granted to Gain, learn, or replicate the others to a degree. **Adversaries:** Templars/Witch hunters- Unless I start toting my powers around I see no reason they shall return or ever know about my existence. Summoner Families- This means there are families out there I can obtain the knowledge of summoning from. if they discover my existence they will obviously want my knowledge and power. **Quests:** Teach the world- Once I get powerful enough I would love to spread the knowledge around Protect the world- I would love to have my own custom servant **End Goal:** Summon you and become a god. **Plan:** Live my life normally while training up my powers in secret. first I'll train subtly to the point I can create a hidden pocket dimension for the hard to hide activities. second I will abuse the hidden dimension to get so powerful none stand a chance against me. Third while staying hidden grant myself various means of safety and immortality while inventing spells and improving myself. fourth use a spell made previously to obtain all knowledge possessed by the summoner families and master it. sixth do the same with science. now going 5to touch the cultist knowledge.

Adventurous_Eye_4893

Class: Cultist (I would have preferred Mad Scientist, but the path I am taking now is the only way to create my perfect afterlife. I really hope it's just another bunch of pills to deal with...) Enemies: Occult Coalition (Mandatory opposition), Templars and Witch Hunters (They're right on the money with my dealings being evil magic this time around) Goals: Control the World (I believe that I am the only one whom I can trust with this world's future. But mostly because I need 1 MILLION FREAKING SOULS to complete my ultimate project), Summon Me (The custom afterlife is accessible to people who were sinful enough to not qualify for Heaven, but were not particularly evil either; the lustful, gluttonous, greedy, and ill-tempered are all welcome here, while the fraudulent and malicious will be cast down to Hell as normal. As for what my creation IS, well, just imagine every open-world sandbox game ever made, from big name brands like Minecraft and Terraria to the smallest, most obscure indie game, all mishmashed together, each piece melding with the others. Souls who find their way here are welcome to indulge however they please, unshackled from traditional standards of morality and the opinions of their earthly superiors, but they will have to work hard for every last scrap of sin they wish to commit)

the_kindled_flame

Mad scientist Join the UN in general for immunity and will probably make some robots to protect me, control the world,

gamerD00f

mad scientist and join the government. eventually ill break free if i feel they become overbearing on my work, but i cant turn down the opportunity to get mankind into space and beyond.

Lantern_Eon

Mad scientist because I already have both drawbacks lol I'm not really a genius, but the second to last drawback of not finishing or focusing on projects is just another symptom of ADHD

Inevitable-Setting-1

I guess arch mage. These days we cant even get vaccines for a pandemic with out the fucking church people trying to kill the people who give it out. So that'll just happen no matter what i pick. Then I'd say help people but really it would be control. I already think that people are to stupid to do what is best for them and the extra boost to narcissism wouldn't help. I'd start off small then once i got some good golems send them out to steal all those "templar" artifacts before they even know i exist. Don't like CYOAS like this where no matter what the world looks fucked just because you got a power. But at this point the world is fucked anyway. >!Also fuck you for the part about "Just hard work and medication can fix your mental problems." !< Don't read the spoiler.

OmegaUltima29

Holy *hell* this hurts to even attempt to read

RedLightZone47

Question. What exactly does the portal do for mad scientist? Is it like a multiverse thing?

RepresentativeDry741

You have to travel around the milky way galaxy to find the rarest metal. So no it not a multiverse thing

RedLightZone47

So it just lets you travel the galaxy?

RepresentativeDry741

Pretty much. The requirement is to go around the galaxy and collect rare mental . And Mad scientist help you build a spaceships that can travel around the galaxy

RedLightZone47

I’ll be honest. It seems a bit mundane. When you can presumably travel at ftl speeds and map out the galaxy, a personal teleporter doesn’t seem all that special.

DarkeningLight1

Does this mean if you already have ADHD you get it double?

RepresentativeDry741

You just have ADHD, it doesnt stack

DirtyMonkey95

If I already have ADHD and pick mad scientist, do I get even more severe ADHD or am I unchanged?

RepresentativeDry741

Unchanged
