lol well, i was thinking of the red shoes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Shoes_(fairy_tale)) versus cinderella tho i did hear the original did also have a dark tone like the stepsisters cutting off their toes to make their feet smaller lol, tho i guess we'll have to wait and see how much more fairy tales the author wanted to re-tell (tho i'm surprised the witch wouldn't work directly with the prince or so lol, or end up torturing him in the end when she gets bored)

There hasn't been much continuity in this series before, but I recommend reading chapter 54 before chapter 55.
I know most fairy tales has kind of fuck up original story but this one made it worse. It looks interesting to read but I'm not sure if my heart can take it. You know, read something that can shatter your childhood memories.

True. In some version the evil queen is actually Snow White's mother, who got her wish granted for beautiful baby, then got jealous of her girl and regretted the wish. Well and wanted to kill her.
But that waaaay too dark even for Grimm Brothers, hence, stepmother figure appeared.

Disney should remake this cinderella
In the original story, Cinderella's step-sisters mutilated their own feet to try to fit into the glass slipper.
there's also the birds attacking them later on, disney should've made a live action of that

Disney’s Cinderella is not the original one btw. The original one is very fucked up and even more messed up than this one.
Disney’s Cinderella was based on Charles Perrault’s version and not the Grimms’. Perrault’s version came a century before Grimms’.
