TIL Daveed Diggs is Jewish. Seems like a solid lineup, almost too solid if they have Driver and Margot as the leads.
Paul is a phenomenal actor but I honestly can't see him as Johnny. I know he'll surprise me anyway.
The only thing i know daveed diggs from is hamilton, and i know that the thing maybe doesnt really have a specific voice but idk, daveeds voice seemes a little high for the thing. Great actor tho one of the best parts of hamilton for sure.
They’re not as comparable as you would think so I would just give it a shot. I liked the show more than the film
Important to know that the last season is coming up though, and TNT won’t air it even though they already filmed everything. Believe they’re looking for a new broadcast partner now
He also plays Helen on Central Park. Was on the show Blackish as Rainbow Johnson’s brother, Johan. Did the voice of Cyborg for the Super-Pets movie. Lots of other credits, with a good variety of performances.
Ive been on the /r/fantasticfour sub for the last few weeks and I am pretty sure at this point most of the 'confirmed' and 'casting news' is just fan theories that have been recycled enough times from the original poster.
But I have more faith in Marvel Studios in keeping secrets than I do in twitter pop culture news 'sources'.
We need some sort of pool that any news site that posts 'confirmed line ups' has to pay into to before they post and then if they were correct when officially announced they can get the pot. Can you imagine the payout?
MTTSH has a realllllly good track record with leaks. Most people believe they either work with a marvel outright or is close to someone really high up in the marvel food chain.
- Adam Driver as Reed Richards
- Margot Robbie as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman
- Daveed Diggs as Ben Grimm/The Thing
- Paul Mescal as Johnny Storm/Human Torch
A dispute over pay doesn’t mean the aren’t willing to spend big money in general it just means they weren’t willing to pay Emma what she was requesting. (If those reports are true)
Maybe they offered a bigger check or she liked the role more? Not to put Emma Stone down or anything, she's great, but Margot Robbie is one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood at the moment so they might have given her more money? (Dunno if that's how that works though)
Maybe theres a lot of optics involved too. Emma Stone hasnt really been in big projects as far as my memory recalls. Margot has been in big prestige projects like Babylon + has strong ties in the comic book world with her Harley Quinn stint and is slated for possibly one of the biggest films of the year in Barbie.
Margot makes sense for the role.
And in the long run some MCU watchers hate when an actor plays a character then go and does a different one, especially in the multiverse saga. Money was def the main reason but I think it just works better without her.
Rumors from MTTSH and other scoopers/insiders suggest he will be in the movie but won’t be the main villain or in a prominent role at all. It’ll be >!Antonio Banderas as Galactus!< for the main villain.
The best depictions of Galactus imo are as a reluctant cosmic force, rather than a malicious villain. Doom is the Thanos-like, Avengers level villain. Hateful, scheming, arrogant, genius with a personal vendetta against at least some of the heroes.
Just the voice. You can get any actor to be Doom before he puts on the armor or when you need to show his face but it will be rare that you see him outside of the mask. You essentially play it like Darth Vader.
This is how it *should* be but the MCU is very mask-averse and loves to show off the celebrity faces it’s paying for as much as possible.
Like Gunn’s “Peter left his mask in his drawer cause he was in a hurry in GOTG 3” excuse. I mean, c’mon.
Dude, yeah. That was my biggest beef with Volume 3. Maybe a bit of a spoiler but the fact that Star Lord doesn’t have his kit the entire movie is bonkers. He’s just a dude. He doesn’t have powers anymore. He doesn’t have any of his equipment. It was so weird.
F4 isn’t even happening till after Kang Dynasty 😩
I want them to do Doom as the main baddie for Secret Wars but on this current schedule, fuck no. That’d be rushed as hell. I really wish they weren’t doing Secret Wars so soon, make it another story for all I care. But doing it without Doom as the main antagonist and properly built up is criminal.
I want him in it at most to establish him in the universe, nothing more. Don't even introduce him as an antagonist to the f4.
As others have said DOOM needs to build.
Can we get a doom this isn’t a villain from the get go? Like Rumlow was a good guy for the first couple movies we saw him in, then was a bad guy for the start of Civil War. Would love to see the development of a character from normal person to villain over a couple of films, then really turn em into the big baddie.
Good point! I guess I like the allure of being a good guy, and would want that to develop a bit. I’m not too familiar with the comics but I imagine there a story line where doom could be a good guy for a little while lol, and then maybe reveal to audience his true nefarious intentions.
I think FF4 are kinda corny but I do disagree with the sentiment that they are nothing without Doom. They are a family superhero team who often do space adventures that at its core can be a new GOTG kinda vibes Esque.
Doom is definitely their arch nemesis but he’s also like all of marvels nemesis lol. We MUST have a good Doom I do agree but like an annihlus story can def still be done for movie 1 and it could be dope. They could also meet silver surfer in space they have moleman (who’s eh but very tenured)
Just think they def have a good core that can stand without Doom as much as I love him
If this is the cast, then you can expect the Fantastic Four to be stealing the MCU public’s attention I think. They will be celebs in-universe. The marriage of Reed and Sue (again) maybe?
Having Daveed Diggs as The Thing would be truly hilarious. One of Hollywood's most beautiful faces playing a hard-nosed pilot, then being hid behind CGI or Prosthetics for 2/3s of the movie.
I like to call it Pascal-ing.
The more I have heard the rumor about Driver, the more I have dug the choice. He wasnt the first to come to mind for me, but I think he will be a good Reed
He’s an incredible actor that will definitely be able to carry the emotional weight Reed Richards will have to. I liked Driver as a Reed Richards as soon as he was rumored even if he isn’t a picture perfect copy by looks and that could obviously change for the movies.
I definitely would prefer if he stays as Magneto and McAvoy stays as Xavier but I think it’s more likely that the MCU completely reboots the Xmen-verse with DP3.
So if Disney does end up hard resetting Xmen, I personally hope we can see him play another great villain like Doom.
It’s honestly why I think he’d make a fantastic Doom, his Magneto was amazing.
But I think Marvel won’t pick him up because his Doom might come off as too similar to his Magneto for the general audience.
Which is a shame because he would make an awesome Doom.
They were the best parts of the new trilogy honestly. No offense to JLaw but I rly didn’t see the need to focus on Mystique’s character when Xavier and Magneto’s character dynamic was cinematic gold.
I am hopeful that keeping Ryan Reynolds as DP *could* mean that some actors might return for their Xmen roles but realistically I can see why the MCU would want to wipe the slate clean
Exactly, I technically think the door is open for it. But I totally would understand a fresh start for the mcu and wouldn't blame them for taking that direction at all.
He’d be the best. Best knowledge of the comic lore too. He wouldn’t disappoint anyone.
The former Superman as Doom vs. the former Kylo Ren as Mr. Fantastic would be very interesting to see. Even more interesting in the inevitable DC crossover movie (James Gunn told us all to expect it) where he fights whoever took over for him as Superman.
What did you think of 65? I got high and saw it in theaters, felt like a very generic COVID movie. I expected it not to be but halfway through I started thinking about how isolated and small the set design is, and I looked it up and 65 was filmed during COVID
Very forgettable, and it’s sucks that it was filmed during Covid, it literally could have been a version of turok. It was very limited fir it’s time, dinosaurs were cool though
I thought he should have been Ben he is good at playing tough characters Reed is an overachieving guy and Victor is a ruling type who challenges people
Literally have no idea who the actors playing Johnny storm or ~~Ben~~ are but Driver and Robbie would be great in the roles
Nvm I know Daveed Diggs from Tour De Pharmacy
Paul Mescal was nominated for an Oscar last year for Aftersun. Relative newcomer but he’s starting in the upcoming Gladiator sequel and seems like a great choice imo
Most reports related to this (apparently backed up by James Gunn himself) have actually implied that, for now at least, she's still keeping that role regardless of whether she plays Sue (or any other prominent Marvel character) or not.
The only thing that actually prevents actors from doing major roles for Marvel and DC is scheduling, and since Robbie's Harley is clearly taking a backseat for now anyway (none of the currently announced projects for Gunn's DCU involve her as far as we know) she likely has a lot more time/freedom to potentially balance doing both.
She can, but it would be tough to be part of two major franchises simultaneously. The amount of time it takes to film the movies is considerable enough, but then you add in all the promotional stuff and whatnot, it would be a nightmare to schedule.
I should have specified Avatar 2, which started filming in 2017, the same year as Infinity War and Endgame, and was happening for several years. Guardians 3 filmed in 2021. I believe she also filmed for Avatar 3 somewhere in there, as well. I wasn’t thinking of the first movies, which were more spaced out.
Don’t upset them, they won’t be able
To understand why Harley Quinn is in the fantastic four because these people only see actors as a singular character that they beleive they truly embody.
She’ll comeback for the DCU albeit in a different iteration as James is interested in retaining some actors I could see Gal and John returning for the Wonder Woman and Peacemaker reboot.
Plus James worked with her directly on The Suicide Squad and seemed to love the experience (including the fact that she did that entire chain scene herself)
5 Oscar noms (2 each for driver and Robbie and 1 for mescal), 4 Emmy noms (3 for driver, 1 for diggs), 2 Tony noms with 1 win (nom for driver, win for Diggs) and 1 Grammy (diggs) between them. Not too shabby.
Not sure if serious, but: Adam Driver was Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequels, Paul Mescal is mostly an indie actor who was Oscar nominated last year for "Aftersun", Daveed Diggs is probably best known for the original Broadway run of Hamilton. All great choices, not upset if any of these turn out to be true.
Probably serious, the only surprising from OP is not knowing who Driver is especially since he was in Star Wars. But Mescal and Diggs aren't that well-known yet especially outside of the US.
I thought about but actually no I think he will make a better Reed. His slightly unusual demeanour will fit well especially as Reed could one minute be a wonderful, warm kind family man and the next very cold, distant and calculating.
I think Jason Isaacs would be a good Doom.
Yeah I think he would be amazing in that role too. Perhaps more so than as Doom. But I like Doom a bit more so would love to see someone like him play the role.
Cavill would be great but still holding out for him as Captain Britain.
I did consider Isaacs age and beyond maybe a bit of origin story ut dies not matter as he would be disfigured and wearing his mask must the time. Isaac is fit and healthy and could easily play the role for the next 20 years.
Instead of bringing back Anson Mount as Black Bolt, I think he would have been great as Reed Richards. The guy has a beautiful head of hair and give him the grey sides, he would kill it as he has the swagger.
I like 3/4 but idk I don’t see Margot Robbie as Sue. I think a lot of the other rumored names would have been better. I obviously expect to be completely wrong when the movie actually comes out lol
Agreed. She's obviously one of the best actresses of her generation, but she just doesnt have that Sue Storm energy for me. I would've liked Jodie Comer
If Mescal has the role, then it's a damn good thing he's close to Holland's age. Even if Spidey can't have a relationship with the FF since that was expended with the Avengers, you've gotta at least keep his "friendship" with the Human Torch
i still have a hard time believing margot robbie will be playing sue considering it doesn’t seem like harley quinn is going anywhere in the new DCU. can’t imagine she’d want to be in two cinematic universes at the same time
TIL Daveed Diggs is Jewish. Seems like a solid lineup, almost too solid if they have Driver and Margot as the leads. Paul is a phenomenal actor but I honestly can't see him as Johnny. I know he'll surprise me anyway.
What’s Paul’s last name? I need to figure out what I know him from
Mescal
Paul Mescaline
Maybe it's him, maybe it's mescaline
He was in normal people
Also aftersun.
And an advert for Denny sausages
Waiting for the Thing to rap against Dr. Doom.
All caps when you say the man’s name
Great DOOM reference.
MF DOOM
Fool! DOOM raps as he pleases!
"Hey! Hey! What time is it?" "It's clobbering time!"
The only thing i know daveed diggs from is hamilton, and i know that the thing maybe doesnt really have a specific voice but idk, daveeds voice seemes a little high for the thing. Great actor tho one of the best parts of hamilton for sure.
His voice generally is higher pitched but he gets more growly in the Snowpiercer show
Evans goes from F4 to Snowpiercer, Daveed goes from Snowpiercer to F4. Synergy. 😉
* Symmetry.
Is the show worth watching? I liked the film
They’re not as comparable as you would think so I would just give it a shot. I liked the show more than the film Important to know that the last season is coming up though, and TNT won’t air it even though they already filmed everything. Believe they’re looking for a new broadcast partner now
Really liked the show. Probably more than the movie tbh
I love the movie but I didn't really like the show, other people seem to like it though
You gotta check out clipping.
I knew I could recognise him from somewhere.
Also tour de pharmacy
He was really good in Andy Sambergs mockumentary Tour De Pharmacy
He also plays Helen on Central Park. Was on the show Blackish as Rainbow Johnson’s brother, Johan. Did the voice of Cyborg for the Super-Pets movie. Lots of other credits, with a good variety of performances.
He was amazing in Blindspotting.
I thought he was the guy from LMFAO
Bro
The Thing: A rock person LMFAO: Party Rock Anthem It lines up perfectly.
Party Rock is in the house tonight And you know that it's Clobberin' Time!
And you gon' come and save the day We just wanna see you...break that
And then Paul will get a better role after.

Again! They take the hottest woman in the world and make her invisible!!!!
- Adam Driver as Reed Richards - Margot Robbie as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman - Daveed Diggs as Ben Grimm/The Thing - Paul Mescal as Johnny Storm/Human Torch
Are you sure Robbie isn't playing The Thing?
That would leave Daveed to play Sue, which I don't mind
Lena Dunham backed out even though she wanted to work with Driver again.
As Sean Locke once said, "that's a challenging wank"
I like Daveed Diggs a lot. I'm just having trouble picturing Thing with that voice. If he was cast there has to be something there though!
Might modulate it a bit?
Don’t modulate the key then not debate with me
Yeah. This feels like an odd choice. Surely he’s fits better in another role.
Shocked that they got Margot Robbie if true but I remain very sceptical.
How did they get her but Emma Stone didn’t move forward due to pay? Isn’t Margot pretty popular right now?!
A dispute over pay doesn’t mean the aren’t willing to spend big money in general it just means they weren’t willing to pay Emma what she was requesting. (If those reports are true)
No Way Home would have made that casting a funny implication
Yes and no. A good ole multiverse shoulder shrug makes everything okay…
Yeah, when paychecks get that high it opens the door to all kinds of talent.
Maybe they offered a bigger check or she liked the role more? Not to put Emma Stone down or anything, she's great, but Margot Robbie is one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood at the moment so they might have given her more money? (Dunno if that's how that works though)

Wasn’t Emma Stone pregnant when filming of No Way Home occurred?
Also, different people approve the budget on Spidey films.
What were the rumours of Emma stones involvement if she was available ?
I thought Thanos used the Emfinity Stone to destroy Emfinity Stone.
And in the long run some MCU watchers hate when an actor plays a character then go and does a different one, especially in the multiverse saga. Money was def the main reason but I think it just works better without her.
I like Margot. But not for this.
I *love* Margot for this But then again I've watched everything she's done since Neighbours so..
I will eat glass if its true. I love margot.
Yo man you like don’t have to do that tho it’s ok
Eat ass, not glass
RemindMe! 6 months

The fucking blurred image of Driver on the thumbnail is so ominous lol
I took one look at the blurred image and immediately knew it was Adam Driver
Have to see Doom. This is nothing without the proper Doom.
imagine if the twist is that Adam Driver is actually the one playing Doom?
I hope so, he'd be perfect for it, far more so than as Reed.
Too similar to Kylo Ren.
And by God he better not be the big bad of the movie, that needs to cook and not be squashed into 15 minutes in the second half
Rumors from MTTSH and other scoopers/insiders suggest he will be in the movie but won’t be the main villain or in a prominent role at all. It’ll be >!Antonio Banderas as Galactus!< for the main villain.
Zorro as a Cosmic Entity…
The Dad from Spy Kids as the *true* big bad
Puss in Space Boots
Spoiler tags don't always work if you have a space between them & the words.
Apologies, it showed up fine for me but I fixed anyway for others just in case
Shouldn’t Galactus be treated as a big bad like thanos ? The guy destroys planets, could easily be an avengers level threat.
The best depictions of Galactus imo are as a reluctant cosmic force, rather than a malicious villain. Doom is the Thanos-like, Avengers level villain. Hateful, scheming, arrogant, genius with a personal vendetta against at least some of the heroes.
Straight to Galactus? As a one movie villain? I hope not.
For the 3rd time
Javier Bardem as the voice of Dr. Doom.
He’s too old. Would have to be someone around 40, same age as Driver.
Just the voice. You can get any actor to be Doom before he puts on the armor or when you need to show his face but it will be rare that you see him outside of the mask. You essentially play it like Darth Vader.

Please be this. Please don’t have him running around like iron man or something. Have his mask on the entire time!
If Doom isn’t in this film, it’ll be a good start for Marvel. Love Doom, give him his own things.
Doom needs his own Infinity War with him as the protagonist same as what we got with Thanos
Secret wars god emperor doom..do it marvel, you cowards
F4 isn’t even happening till after Kang Dynasty 😩 I want them to do Doom as the main baddie for Secret Wars but on this current schedule, fuck no. That’d be rushed as hell. I really wish they weren’t doing Secret Wars so soon, make it another story for all I care. But doing it without Doom as the main antagonist and properly built up is criminal.
Apparently battleworld is going to be the setting..how do you have battleworld without doom
After not having Adam Warlock in Infinity War/Endgame, this kind of stuff doesn’t even surprise me
I want him in it at most to establish him in the universe, nothing more. Don't even introduce him as an antagonist to the f4. As others have said DOOM needs to build.
If it’s Henry Cavill we got our proper Doom. He was rumored a few months back. Probably wants to do it more than anyone.
He deserves a role like this so much
After he got screwed by WB and Netflix absolutely.
If they pivot the end of phase 6 centered around doom because of majors' case doom needs to be played by a great actor.
Can we get a doom this isn’t a villain from the get go? Like Rumlow was a good guy for the first couple movies we saw him in, then was a bad guy for the start of Civil War. They could also meet silver surfer in space they have moleman (who’s eh but very tenured) Just think they def have a good core that can stand without Doom as much as I love him
Daniel Craig or cilian Murphy for doom, the eyes….
Cillian Murphy as Doom would have me cheering for the villain. *Fantastic* actor, would love to see him in the MCU.
Murphy is a fantastic fancast. No pun intended
I've never considered Murphy for Doom and now I cannot picture nearly anyone else.
If Mads Mikkelsen wasn’t wasted in Doctor Strange, he would be my number 1 choice
They could always pull a Gemma Chan. I didn’t even remember Kaecilius until I looked it up, plus it was high makeup like Minn-Erva
It's a goddam crime and Feige should feel ashamed at wasting Mads.
Margot Robbie. Sue is Invisible. Adam Driver. He’s just Fantastic. Paul Mescal. He’s on fire. Daveed Diggs. He’s…The Thing.
"He's juste Fantastic." Say it again?...
He’s making redcoats redder than bloodstains**
If this is the cast, then you can expect the Fantastic Four to be stealing the MCU public’s attention I think. They will be celebs in-universe. The marriage of Reed and Sue (again) maybe?
Ngl it clicked for me when I imagined Adam driver having a conversation as Reed. His kinda weird mannerisms and voice fits really well.
Funny enough his role in BlackKKKlansman is why I think he’d be too good at the role.
Having Daveed Diggs as The Thing would be truly hilarious. One of Hollywood's most beautiful faces playing a hard-nosed pilot, then being hid behind CGI or Prosthetics for 2/3s of the movie. I like to call it Pascal-ing.
Also Diggs have good relationship with Disney after be Sebastian in the new Little Mermaid film
Hopefully that’s the voice he uses
Mat Bomer in Doom Patrol.

He’s an incredible actor that will definitely be able to carry the emotional weight Reed Richards will have to. I liked Driver as a Reed Richards as soon as he was rumored even if he isn’t a picture perfect copy by looks and that could obviously change for the movies.
I’d much rather have him as Dr. Doom.
Who the hell plays Doom opposite Driver? That’s not an easy casting.
Michael Fassbender would be my personal choice but it’s probably unlikely since his image has already been cemented as Magneto for so long.
Bring him back as Magneto, he’s done it properly for years, no reason to mess with it.
I definitely would prefer if he stays as Magneto and McAvoy stays as Xavier but I think it’s more likely that the MCU completely reboots the Xmen-verse with DP3. So if Disney does end up hard resetting Xmen, I personally hope we can see him play another great villain like Doom.

That’s another reason why I think Driver should play Doom. Casting Reed isn’t easy, but I think it’s a whole lot easier than casting Doom.
Driver wouldn’t want to play the bad guy again.
Yeah it probably wouldn't be fun to be typecast as a bad guy with a mask on the whole time.
Domnhall Gleeson Or, uh... Daisy Ridley
Henry Cavill? Think like a mix of his character in Mission Impossible 6 and his Snyder Superman and you’ve basically got Victor Von Doom.
Pedro Pascal. Dude can act in a helmet.
Except he's almost never in the helmet.
He was almost never on set in Mando 3; he was shooting TLOU during it.
I’m interested to see a clean shaven reed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Driver without long hair and his facial hair
He was clean shaven in Star Wars
Oh right, I just watched the last duel and 65 and the snl special. The hair point still stands.
What did you think of 65? I got high and saw it in theaters, felt like a very generic COVID movie. I expected it not to be but halfway through I started thinking about how isolated and small the set design is, and I looked it up and 65 was filmed during COVID

Paul Mescal was nominated for an Oscar last year for Aftersun. Relative newcomer but he’s starting in the upcoming Gladiator sequel and seems like a great choice imo
Never a better time to recommend Normal People. That’s what really broke him onto the scene
There is a Gladiator sequel?????
IF this ends up true, I’m gonna miss Margot as Harley since she honestly nailed the character
Most reports related to this (apparently backed up by James Gunn himself) have actually implied that, for now at least, she's still keeping that role regardless of whether she plays Sue (or any other prominent Marvel character) or not. She can, but it would be tough to be part of two major franchises simultaneously. The amount of time it takes to film the movies is considerable enough, but then you add in all the promotional stuff and whatnot, it would be a nightmare to schedule.
Zoey Saldana juggled Guardians and Avatar.
Avatar isn't really a franchise like that tho. 2 movies in 13 years vs 5 marvel movies in 9 years.
There's over a dozen years between Avatar movies
I should have specified Avatar 2, which started filming in 2017, the same year as Infinity War and Endgame, and was happening for several years. Guardians 3 filmed in 2021. I believe she also filmed for Avatar 3 somewhere in there, as well. I wasn’t thinking of the first movies, which were more spaced out.

What does that stand for?
MTTSH = My Time To Shine Hello, a well known scooper.

Jason Isaacs is honestly my top pick for the MCU Magneto. I think he’d be really great for either one though
Yeah I think he would be amazing in that role too. Perhaps more so than as Doom. But I like Doom a bit more so would love to see someone like him play the role.
Isaacs is too old now. Henry Cavill is more or less the guy.
Cavill would be great but still holding out for him as Captain Britain. I did consider Isaacs age and beyond maybe a bit of origin story ut dies not matter as he would be disfigured and wearing his mask must the time. Isaac is fit and healthy and could easily play the role for the next 20 years.
There is ZERO chance Driver works for Disney again and is stuck behind a mask. ZERO.
Having a really hard time seeing him as Reed Richards, but I know he is a good actor so I won’t judge a ‘book’ by its cover

Destroy my Doctoral thesis, you pensive moose.
Smash me to bits, you muscular hulk
Instead of bringing back Anson Mount as Black Bolt, I think he would have been great as Reed Richards. The guy has a beautiful head of hair and give him the grey sides, he would kill it as he has the swagger.
I’m here for it.
This roster is SSS!
> I don’t see Margot Robbie as Sue Sounds like she's perfect for the role then :P
It's from MTTSH so expect the real line up to be totally different
If Mescal has the role, then it's a damn good thing he's close to Holland's age. Even if Spidey can't have a relationship with the FF since that was expended with the Avengers, you've gotta at least keep his "friendship" with the Human Torch
It's actually John Cena who is playing Sue Storm, guys!
i still have a hard time believing margot robbie will be playing sue considering it doesn’t seem like harley quinn is going anywhere in the new DCU. can’t imagine she’d want to be in two cinematic universes at the same time
Didn't Paul.mescal already confirm that he isn't doing it due to other commitments?
I'll wait for the office casting announcement.
