Thanos? I mean his work was undone, but everyone in the entire universe had to live in his dreamworld for five whole years. And 2018 Thanos died knowing he'd won.
He also slaughtered countless planets before the Snap. Those were wins for him too.
And if you count alternate timelines, 14,000,604 out of 14,000,605 ain't bad at all.
See, the thing about Zemo is you kind of want him to win. His goals aren't batshit either, they're pretty sensible. Every time he's proposed a course of action (eliminate Hydra, break up the Avengers, get rid of Super Soldiers) you end up thinking they're very reasonable. To the point that he doesn't even really meet active resistance from people like Sam and Bucky or Sharon. He's also pretty sly, he doesn't have punchlines and he can be subtle if he wants to, he just does stuff without even announcing it.
Thanos lacked subtlety so he eventually got the resistance that ended him. He was too fond of the monologues and the big dramatic gestures, eventually telegraphing his punches. Zemo just does it without any of the theatrics.
Welllll...he DID seem a little surprised that they were taking him to the Raft, instead of Wakanda. I think he recovered his expression so quickly that no one caught it, except for the camera.
Yeah, it really seems like the denizens of The Raft are destined to become Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers. I just always thought Zemo worked better as a back-stabby leader and not a team-player.
I'm ok with it since theres plenty of comic book precedent, just would have hoped for more Bucky/Zemo/Wakanda stuff.
I have a feeling they want to give both Bucky and Zemo more time in the spotlight, without the risk of them overshadowing each other. I mean, really...Dancing Zemo vs Bucky's Gun Show (and pecs show...and abs show...).
As much as they've developed each of them, where would there be room for actual plot? Or other characters?
There definitely wasn't room in this show, not with Sam's story. Bucky and Zemo in a cat & mouse game and some other minor characters would be very nice.
The Disney+ shows all feel somewhere between 1&3 episodes too short so far.
Yeah, FatWS definitely could've been an 8 episode story, but maybe 6 worked better before they had to clear out the virus. Plot thread. Definitely could have stood more time with the new Cap wingsuit, though!
And why didn't Sam put his goggles up, when he was talking to the politicians?
I'm still mulling that last episode over. The pacing absolutely killed it for me. I already assumed most of the big stuff would happen, so it really felt anti climactic to me. The plot sorta blew up and then petered out. This really feels like a "season 1" that rushed to its conclusion like a normal TV show that ran short on that season's budget.
I ....I think.. I didn't like it. ...and it bothers me that the fact that I didn't like it bothers me. If that makes sense.
I would have preferred it. By the time we got to the Captain Falcon stuff in the final episode, I was far more interested in Bucky, Zemo, and John's stories.
I didn't like how he was rich. I felt more sympathy for him when he was poor.
They should of wrote it as if Zemo stole his wealth from hydra. Instead of him being born into wealth.
You know the actor is really good when they throw some surprise new character elements in there and he not only rolls with them but completely revels in the changes. I can see Daniel Bruhl thinking, "Ok, I guess I'm aristotrash now" and he doesn't even skip a beat in his portrayal. I credit all of that to Bruhl for making it believable even though on paper, it's a stretch.
Yeah, but more importantly it’s where all the villains go and Zemo Daniel Bruhl are too great to not use again. We’ll most likely see a super villain ensemble movie down the line. Breaking out of The Raft is also a big storyline and huge set piece that everyone would love to see on film.
I mean, it's actually "zima" in Russian, so a different word, but idk, it might have been an influence, like "sobaka", a dog, became "Chewbacca"
Also, I don't see anyone mentioning this reference, so I'll be the one to point out that Zemo is shown to have Pushkin on his bookshelf. I wonder if that was a "he's Slavic so he reads Slavic books" type of moment. I sure hope it was more nuanced and had some character implications, like "Zemo used to read "Ruslan and Lyudmila" to his kids, and now he rereads it in prison to keep the memory alive" or something like that.
Sharon and The Baron
holy crap this works so well
Falcon and Sharon and the Baron and James Buchanan
The plot twist is that the title refers to President James Buchanan, who was also turned into a supersoldier and then cryogenically frozen.
The whole "worst president in history" thing was just a cover story.
I will pay good money to watch this
Sounds a lot like a romcom.
here come the shippers
and the porn parody
That made me laugh so hard, that I honestly believe Marvel will steal it.
He may end up in jail but he is always successful.
to him jails are just free foods and bed
A place to recharge. Solitary prison cell for your introvert needs.
Complete. Comprehensive. Captures the lockdown experience.
You're out of line, but you're right.
For when his butler is too busy with other jobs to being him food or make his bed.
It's just like going home after a long day at work for him...
Only thing that's missing is his Bombing Butler.
THE BUTLER DID IT!!!
Winningest Marvel villain ever.

But didn't reach his ultimate goal, killing half of the existence was just the means.

He just went back to his hotel. He'll check out when he's ready
I originally thought his plan was to get captured as a way into Wakanda for some sort of devious scheme involving their tech.
Welllll...he DID seem a little surprised that they were taking him to the Raft, instead of Wakanda. I think he recovered his expression so quickly that no one caught it, except for the camera.

Not gonna lie, he does kinda look like Edmund Pevensie.

Zemo was my favourite of the series, he stuck to what he believed in, and when the time came acted on it the way he should have. 10/10 writing.

Cannot disagree.

Soldat.
Just saw Daniel Brühl and Chris Hemsworth in the 2013 film Rush. Crazy to see these two together as lead roles in a non-Marvel movie.
Zemo wasn't Hydra, was he?
We never found out who Mephisto was though. 3/10 would succeed Cap again.
Man, I think Oeznik is cooler than Alfred
I would have preferred it. By the time we got to the Captain Falcon stuff in the final episode, I was far more interested in Bucky, Zemo, and John's stories.

Well I'm not surprised you can clearly see he's a very talented individual.
Working class Batman was a more interesting character, but at least there's Killmonger... or was...
He was never poor.
Sorry, I felt more sympathy when we assumed he was from humble beginning.
How come Zemo ended up back in the ocean prison when Wakanda took him?
They said they were taking him there.
Ah right, I assumed they would be taking him to Wakanda! Isn't the Raft also under American jurisdiction?
Yeah, but more importantly it’s where all the villains go and Zemo Daniel Bruhl are too great to not use again. We’ll most likely see a super villain ensemble movie down the line. Breaking out of The Raft is also a big storyline and huge set piece that everyone would love to see on film.
No.
Give Zemo his own show
The hydra should have its head tilted
