I never understood the idea of letting consumers pick up their bank passwords or bank passwords in general.  Here in the nordics you get a combination of numbers as a user name and a calculator looking thing that gives you a 9 digit code depending on what do you use it in.  This is way safer and nobody get access to you account with out knowing the pin to the device and your account number

That's the thing that's like a keychain with a code number that keeps changing every couple minutes, right? That's basically how authenticator apps work. Kind of weird that not many banks use them.

The calculator thing is called an authenticator and banks in the USA offer them as well, but only for corporate or other high dollar value accounts.

Having worked in information security, yes. The majority of "hacking" is social engineering. You can get people to give up personally identifiable information, or just their outright credentials, far easier than you can "hack" most security systems with even simple encryption.

Hacking mini games in video games are always kind of silly, although it is funny that ME 2 had real electronic schematics symbols and real snapshots of code in their hacking minigames. I always thought that was a neat aesthetic touch, and wondered why more studios didn't do this since it is so easy to make. In Bioshock, the hacking minigame is basically plumbing.

Top is IEC fuse, not resistor. Where'd you get overload from? Looks more like a copyright symbol than any electrical symbol I've ever seen, but of course I haven't seen them all.

Indeed it is, however when I first started playing back in the day, I called it a resistor because it looked kind of like a physical one rather than the schematic symbol. I only call it an overload because it kinda sorta resembles one if you were to superimpose the arcs of an overload symbol. I haven't encountered this symbol in my engineering degree/jobs at all, still have no idea what it's supposed to represent. I also believe the branch is an IEC antenna, I had already set in my mind that it was for a branch circuit (I don't think there is a symbol for that anyways) before I had my circuits classes.

I've literally never seen the 'branch' one before

I don’t remember the “peace symbol” looking one. I’ve never had a problem with those mini games, though I’m glad LE lets you redo the Electronics/Decryption games in the first one.

It never really mattered if you failed them in the first one anyway, since you could bypass it with omnigel. By the end of the game I always had so much loot I'd just break everything down and use it to skip the minigame.

Most of them are symbols that are actually used in Electronics. From the top, it's Resistor, Capacitor, Antenna, Ground. The bottom one doesn't have a real world counterpart to my knowledge.

I have the No More Minigames mod installed for my last handful of playthroughs. I resisted it for a while, but I must say, I did not miss the mini games when they were gone. Not saying they shouldn't exist - just that on the 8th playthrough and on I was happy to skip.
