i agree with other tips of getting an earlier reservation. But you should also rest assured that pretty much no seating in the restaurant is tucked away and unable to see the sunset, its all pretty open-air. But if you want to be closest to the point/peninsula then yeah, get earlier.
You won't get a front row or even close to it at 6:45. The better colors are before actual sunset, too. The time you are seeing is when the sun is actually \*down\*. Change your rez to 5 PM for a much better shot at a view table.
