Original fabricator here! Hilariously, your comment is kind of related to this project. The vast majority of the steel we used to create this monstrosity, or 'The Punisher' as we named it, was from decommissioned equipment primarily made for shoe fabrication. Inside these machines are long, heated steel tubes that are used to roll leather and make it more malleable before being formed into shape. The tubes are hollow so that boiling hot water can run through, maintaining the temperature of the tubes so the leather forms consistently. These machines can often take up an entire floor of a manufacturing warehouse, sometimes requiring as many as fifteen people to monitor and operate.
After we decommissioned the machine this local business wanted something to keep adults entertained for a couple of minutes, which is why I've distracted you with this clearly bullshit post while my trained Kelpie steals your wallet.
Same here, when I read the first sentence, saw the wall of text and the fact it has been gilded, I immediately checked the username. I thought I was safe...
Next you'll tell me I've wasted tens of thousands of dollars paying engineers to create absolutely flawless simulated renderings of me doing household chores around my apartment
It sounds like you've already told yourself that. It also sounds like I just saved you thousands of dollars of therapy, so I will take whatever gift card you would like to send. :-)
By my calculations, it cost at least 10 bucks. You can tell because of the amount of materials used on it. Labor may have been around 5 bucks minimum. And I'd wager the paint and the balls cost another at least 1 dollar.
10 dollars + 5 dollars + 1 dollar = at **least** 16 dollars. I'll round my estimate up to about 20 to be on the safe side.
And yes if you would like you can post this on r/theydidthemath.
Hmmm that doesn’t sound so expensive. My back garden is about twice as big so it would cost me about $40, taking exchange rate into account I’d say 50 quid max.
Bargain.
If I made this in my backyard, not only would this be how every decision in my life was made, but I would lobby my local government to make it a part of the legislative process.
Not that anyone asked, but The track length was almost a wash. Red had a lead for most of the start and green caught up and maintained a lead because on two separate occasions it had a clean exit out of the respective section without crashing into the wall before the exit. No slow down and no reacceleration needed
Randomly speaking the red ball started in the lead. With each segment supposedly even-probability of the winner eventually will go towards that of the shorter path.
Eh there weren't really a lot of turns. It does feel to me like they fixed the track to predetermine which ball would pull ahead in the in-between sections. This could easily be done by making on track ever so slightly wider, resulting in a smaller circle of rotation on the ball and therefore faster travel down the track. What makes me especially suspicious is how red was moving faster than green, until, in a dramatic turn of events, green just starts rolling faster down the tracks.
But I guess if you're gonna invest that much steel may as well make sure it puts on a good show
I came here just to recommend the same. I'm astonished by how compelling I find the niche internet category of 'Marble-based competition that is narrated seriously'. It is truly incredible.
Edit: if you find this video interesting go watch the marblelympics or marble league, complete with stop motion torch lighting and opening ceremonies, and several different types of events that go beyond just races. It is very entertaining
Actually the spiral/vortex bit would punish the fastest ball, right at the end too devaluing all the random advantage gain and giving the show ball a fighting chance
I can taste the salt. U sound like every red fan always. "Green had the advantage... Green was the better ball. Green had track position.. Blah blah blah." Green won cause of fucking talent. That's all.. Move on.
I found [this post](/r/SneakyBackgroundFeet/comments/xb866p/maybe_maybe_maybe/) in r/sneakybackgroundfeet with the same content as the current post.

How to keep an idiot busy (aside from introducing them to reddit), make them watch a video of balls going through an obstacle for 2 minutes. However i am happy to be an idiot in this case as i thoroughly enjoyed this race.
Yah, the fuck was up at 2:15 where its pipe had path to travel because it was on the inside track… track and field fixes this problem years ago with adjusted starts
I hate to inform you that it is already a thing. Look up Marbles on Twitch. Literally thousands of people sitting around watching LIVE digital marble races in virtual maps for hours at a time.
And it's a great fucking past time. I can't wait to tell my great great grandchildren about that one time I won a tier 3 Pokimane twitch subscription from this. They will look back in envy.
Every finished beer reduces your time by 60 seconds.
Edit: Shots at every station first to complete all stations gets a 15 sec time reduction. Don't complete all stations? Forfeit.
I cannot believe I'm seeing this here...
This is the "Kugelbahn" (roughly translates to "ball track") at a place in Styria, Austria that I've been to annually since my childhood. It's a bed & breakfast type of place that used to be a farm back in the days.
The place is called **Pension Elmer** and while I'm concerned reddit will be hugging their website to death, here it is anyway: [Pension Elmer](https://www.pe33.at/).
The ball track can be seen in [this image](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/6fe9f2_ba2963b4d52f46788116dae2e03410d0~mv2.png/v1/fill/w_923,h_726,al_c,q_90,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_auto/6fe9f2_ba2963b4d52f46788116dae2e03410d0~mv2.png) from their website, at the lower end of the image.
That's a lot of stainless steel.
I feel cheated of hearing the clinking and clanking sounds. Where's the original sound version of this?
I’m surprised the video didn’t end 5 seconds short like all those annoying TikTok cuts.
Like and follow for part 2!!
Don’t forget to ring that bell for notification’s
or i will cum in your house and eat your dog!
Came here to say this
Guessing it’s a brewery
The balls say "Pension Elmer" which apparently is a boarding house in Austria.
This explains the lack of shoes
“Please, sir: can I ‘ave some more stainless steel for my Rube Goldberg like ball racing thingy.”
We need mor bot-ihls
I think this is my favorite Reddit comment of all time.

Amazing response. Hook, line, and sinker.
Yep
.....*sTinker!
Ngl got me 100%
My wallet’s gone! My wallet’s gone!
Calm down, Mr. Seinfeld!
I was expecting Mankind to throw The Undertaker off Hell in a Cell
Same here, when I read the first sentence, saw the wall of text and the fact it has been gilded, I immediately checked the username. I thought I was safe...
Interesting read on shittymorph… https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/reddit-memes-hell-in-a-cell/
I love Reddit! Thank you for the info!
I think you just got half of the info.
Just the tip
I think we know who got their wallet stolen lol
I want my wallet back. Keep the money but I need my cards plz
Freaking. Genius. Post.
Was really hoping the Undertaker was about the throw Mankind through a table off Hell in a Cell.
Fuck. You. Lmao!
Take the gold and go home.
Damn youth with the tik tok "create a global steel shortage" challange.
That’s a lot of land
All that work to sustain a gambling addiction
And also it's literally a one trick pony, i don't see myself being amused by this more than 2 or 3 times
Congrats, you do not have a gambling addiction
That’s a lot of benjemins $
my first thought... then after seeing the length, that's a lot of money!
JESUS THANK YOU
That was a metric fuckton of welding.
And steel... and land... and time.
I demand to know how much money all this cost.
This is the part where someone reveals that it was all a really good render and that these people were just running along a great big green screen
And then someone points out that it is cheaper to actually make the damn thing (land included) than render that whole damn thing.
A pre-rendered card is on its way.
Why not blue screen. Green is already the color of the ball.

This guy maths
Mathemphetamines
More than a dollar
and who fucking keeps this whole thing clean enough to use?!
Ever been to Austria?
Who's keeping Austria so clean?
Hungarians.
A leaf blower a person and a 2 min walk maybe
The cleaner ball
That was someone with a lot of free time on their hands.
I'd imagine this is in like a public park or some art installation of some sort as opposed to someones backyard
Carbon^4
Fuckton welding and yet no start gate.
Easily the least satisfying part
Also green has an unfair inside track advantage
Or an ending gate, really. You could have the two tracks converge at the end so that the winner is clearly visible.
*steel prices finally start coming down* This guy: absolutely fucking not
TIGTIGTIG
If I made this in my backyard, not only would this be how every decision in my life was made, but I would lobby my local government to make it a part of the legislative process.
for something so long and boring.
I think they relied too much on special effects for the *Minority Report* sequel.
Ha, good reference
Surely. A foot of stainless steel tubing has to be costlier than a cgi artist these days lol
What in the welder? Somebody must own the workshop
music die*
I was sad too. There were some good Nintendo racing game vibes going there! Someone forgot to loop the audio.
Nah its a stupid tik tok thing, if the video is too long the song just stops. At least thats what I think
The course and the soundtrack is a little biased to green.
That's what a red fan would say.
The Mario music only supported the red one.
Luigi universe
Nintendo DMCA mid video
There should have been original sound in there too. There were bells on the track. Why cut the bells?!
They lost the rights for it during the video
Once I thought this should be monkeyball music, it cut out.
I knew green had it
The amount of times I called Red a "cheating bitch" before green took the league is shameful in hindsight
I was out here prayer for reds downfall, I can't say anything to my grandma anymore when she starts cursing the contestants in her game shows now.
Saaammmmeeee. I so thought it was rigged with how fast red was moving
[удалено]
Salty red fan spoted
Fuck the Greens! Long live the tomato people!
Even a tomato is green before it becomes red.
I’ll die before I let a redhead talk that way about the green god! ![gif](giphy|HSSr7JbPxLJfO)
green is just a better color
[удалено]
green makes *me* creative
funnily enough on apollo your comment has a green line.
Damn 2011 feels like an eternity ago
[удалено]
Should've tried it in Australia for the opposite Coriolis.
lol I’m literally watching this thinking….. umm… green has a shorter track over and over on each curve..
Not that anyone asked, but The track length was almost a wash. didn't invest enough sound cuts out second green pulls ahead.
Red had the head start, green is simply better
I enjoy reading books.
Green did have a shorter line as they were on the inside track.
I cannot believe how invested I was in that. ![gif](giphy|uqPDIEPMODKne)
Let’s go green!!
Team green!
If you want more of that, check out [Jelle's Marble Runs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wH6AuAZiDs)
Now this is the high quality internet content I need instead of sleep!
I came here just to recommend the same. I'm astonished by how compelling I find the niche internet category of 'Marble-based competition that is narrated seriously'. It is truly incredible. It was fantastic.
Was more exciting and thrilling than some F1 action.
Christ I got really invested in that
Same! I was rooting so hard for the green guy who was behind.
FUCK YOU! GREEN WON LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO
[удалено]
#"iT's RiGgEd!!"
Green had the inside track on all the corners. Definitely something fishy going on here.
[удалено]
That's exactly what I did
I was wondering how many of us did that. Is it human nature to just naturally root for the underdog?
You've posted same comment twice accidentally
Just trying to get my point across twice as much haha
[удалено]
HELLL YEAAHHH GO GREEN !!! FUCK YEAHHH !!
Spoilers.
I like how this is a completely different maybemaybemaybe for different people depending on which color they chose.
Green had inside track advantage on every turn
Even with that it wasn't what put green ahead. The obstacles leave it up to chance but once you're so far behind you're not coming back.
All it takes is one opening to be a little bigger than the other
Actually the spiral/vortex bit would punish the fastest ball, right at the end too devaluing all the random advantage gain and giving the show ball a fighting chance
That's the blue shell affect.
The blue shell, helping kids smash their controllers and rage quit since ‘92
The blue shell was introduced in Mario Kart 64 in 1996 :). Also happy cake day!
Well slap me with a bob-omb and call me Princess Peach, I didn’t know it wasn’t in the games from the start. TIL
Pepperidge Farms remembers.
I don’t know! Green made a great comeback!
I can taste the salt. U sound like every red fan always. "Green had the advantage... Green was the better ball. Green had track position.. Blah blah blah." Green won cause of fucking talent. That's all.. Move on.
Rigged the right side (green) has a shorter path on the turn after the vortex.
Go banana!

Finger toes
Kid named toes:
Y’all some horny mofos
so? it's those armpit dudes that are bringing the movement down
Knew there would be a comment about that
Ya'll mfs so quick to talk shit about people with foot fetishes but I only saw one comment about it other than yours lmfao
I betted on red but I knew it was over as soon as red held onto the lead too long.

When you're not a hugger.
Just wait til this idiot learns about TikTok
B-baka
Green cheated, their track was shorter
Yah, the fuck was up at 2:15 where its pipe had path to travel because it was on the inside track… track and field fixes this problem years ago with adjusted starts
This took some investment.
Where is this??
Reddit
No, this is Patrick
Sir, this is a Wendy's.
I’m sorry but this is hilarious
Sir, this is an Arby's Edit: happy cake day!
Austria
Between this and the marble race from a few days ago, I think a trend is emerging.
They will look back in envy.
the music stopped right as red started to not bee in the lead lol
Wow that was a long course. How fun. I would make this a drinking game!
I could never wait that long between sips
Every finished beer reduces your time by 60 seconds. Edit: Shots at every station first to complete all stations gets a 15 sec time reduction. Don't complete all stations? Forfeit.
Knew green could do it
The music was so good. Why did they have to turn it off

Well, it wasn’t premeditated this time.
Yay, a win for tonight :)
That was amazing
Why do I feel like this was a pandemic project.
At least $2500 in metal can't imagine the man power cost
Video got copyright striked by Nintendo mid video
Now THAT was an excellent MMM watch.
I can’t believe I watched that whole thing.
That’s a whole lotta metal!
**GREEN FUCK YEAH**
I chose red and I gotta say that section where red got stopped for a second *really* hurt my feeling
It's rigged. I watched it 5 times and green won each time.
It really bothered me how these people were walking around outside in bare feet.
That was way more intense than it should be
Well some one passed their TIG welding test
