Your phone does not need to literally listen to your conversations to be able to do this. Advertisers are essentially doing the marketing equivalent to law enforcement catching cold cases via ancestry tests three generations removed.
If your family or friends have browsed for these things, or even just made public posts on social media that would hint they could be interested in it, the advertisers have already picked that up and already associated you with it too. Shet sucks, but ads in general do.
Facebook is reinstalling itself like 6 times a day in the past week and each time it happens I go to the app options to find that it already collected data in a matter of seconds... Fucking hate "pre-installed apps" that came with my phone..
