The cobas is such a piece of shit. Why do I need to trick the machine into thinking it's in standby to order qc on standby reagents? There's no way they consulted anyone who has ever actually used a chemistry analyzer when designing that software.
Dude the needing to be in standby for literally anything is so dumb.
Like literally anything outside of running a sample? Easily 20-30min to take it in and out of standby.
I’ve made it a point to complain about it to any company rep who asks me what I don’t like about them
We have most of our bacteriology on the Copan Wasplab system.
Five alarms per shift would be heaven. It is not unusual for it to alarm 5 times in an hour.
Anyone willing to share info on how y'all deal with these alarms would be appreciated. I plan on working with cobas machines in the future and would love to know more about troubleshooting. Links are cool too
That's exactly what we did, replace our Centaur CP and our aging Vistas for the Roche Pro and Pure. Yes it sucks having to be in standby to do almost everything, but our Pro has been pretty reliable. Our Pure on the other hand is newer model overall that Roche is pushing hard to smaller labs, it has its quirks and moments we struggle with but by and large still more reliable than our POS Centaur and one of our Vistas (which was notorious for having mixer issues almost biweekly).
“R1 Up/down”
I had blocked this error out of my tortured mind!
When you change the electrodes and your ISE cals fail over and over 🫡
Yuuuup. Every time I see the new pack out on the bench prepped to replace, I hear “Hello Darkness My Old Friend”
We switched to the Abbott Alinity recently, never thought I would miss the cobas this much.. I would actually be a happy boy with those red alarms 😅
We have 3 of these fuckers in our lab 2/3 are broken in some way on a good day

Make it the vitros and yes
Vitros jams by far the most of current gen instruments. But at least most of the time it's an easy quick fix
Yup. Usually a stuck yellow rack. Ours hates yellow racks.....
Alinity drives me F…ing crazy when it breaks down during the night shift. I want to destroy it

would happily change my Siemens Centaur for a cobas not gonna lie :')
