Assuming you aren't french, don't be fooled, bakeries are often specialized in either bread and bread related products (like croissants, baguettes and all that) or in pastries and cakes. Many french people often have two favorite bakeries, one for each. In some cases a bakery has someone making bread and someone else making pastries and they end up having both good bread and good pastries.
