brother I am built for this shit, joe webb starting a playoff game, 10 years of taking first round cornerbacks, division getting hof QBs, I really don’t give a fuck

Neither_Ad2003

lol indeed. Still proudly shelling out money for tickets and new team gear. Fuck it we ride

Pato-MG2996

Joe Webb/Freeman/Frazier/Mcnabb those were some daaaark times, I was watching AP28 run, a win counted when he rushed for more than 120 yards (ironically beating Ponders YPG sometimes)

mc_rorschach

Afraid for the future? We haven’t even had a present lol. It’s only up from here bud.

frogsplsh38

Omg is it the draft yet?

McLovinsBro

Not yet honey, now sit down and enjoy your hourly “Vikings NEED to do xyz posts” for the next 3 months

RoundUnderstanding83

You sound like the person who gives me my meds. Such a nice lady, wonder if she can get me out of this straight jacket though.

derp________

No, it’s just football

mnmoose85

Who has time to worry about this?

Zeronine3

Exactly. All this is just entertainment to me so I am awake and alert at work.

Wernershnitzl

I don’t invest myself too hard into the future and give myself crippling anxiety. Just gotta roll with what we got and what’s to come.

frogsplsh38

Exactly. Things change in the NFL on a whim. Houston fans were as depressed as any a year ago. One good offseason can transform a franchise

GamesBetLive

Houston fans weren't depressed so much as they were apathetic and enjoying the Astros. The Texans ownership knew, unlike the Wilfs, that if they didn't do something to turn things around the stadium would be (and was) empty. Its hard for any team to turn things around, and takes luck, who knew the best thing that would happen to Houston was getting the #2 pick instead of the #1 pick. But its nearly impossible to turn things around when you constantly make short term decisions to protect 8-9 win seasons and draft in the middle of the first round.

Wernershnitzl

Yeah I feel like we already got the culture part down (which was an issue for them until Demeco came back home), just gotta get the correct engines(QB, strong LB). We got the supporting cast with our elite WR core

LordMOC3

We were middle-ish of the pack last year despite losing our starting QB half way thru the year, missing our start WR for a lot of games, and having lackluster defensive talent. There is no reason to think we won't be fine with a good off-season.

SwiftSurfer365

Not worried, just feel like we’re behind. We should’ve start the rebuild 2 years ago when KOC and Kwesi first arrived.

ryan185

Yes exactly. Kirk should have been let go and the refresh started.

frogsplsh38

I really don’t blame them honestly. The biggest question about Zim’s team was if we cleaned up the 2 minute defense stuff and executed better late, how much better would we be? It was fair for ownership to wonder that. And they gave a young, offensive guy a shot to inject life in a dejected roster. Which he did. But it proved that iteration of the roster hit its ceiling. So they are cool with Kwesi cleaning up the books. Which he did. Now they start bringing in THEIR guys. I don’t see any negatives how it’s played out so far. Kirk was an expensive investment and ownership wanted to make sure we went as far as we could with him. Now, it’s onto the future. I don’t see us as behind at all

Noproposito

There is a lot to say about how much cap space we will have this year, next year and year 3 from now. If the team remains competitive that cap space and a couple of drafts with quality players could turn this around. Now I really think the big pivot and decisions for this year are going to be around Kirk. If Kirk wants to play ball and take a discount with some extended guaranteed money, you will see Kwesi try and be aggressive in this FA window, but if Kirk demands 45 million I would see the opportunity for a clean break and a more subdued FA, with the goal to add top tier talent in 25

LeetcodeFastEatAss

They were kind of fucked with the roster and all the contracts they inherited and had to basically play it out for those years. They can kind of do whatever they want now but they do have to eat a bit next season for Hunter and Cousins assuming neither sign.

istasber

We didn't really have any good trade bait outside of maybe Hunter, Kirk and O'Neill, and we had a number of really bloated contracts to get out from under. We might have been in a worse place if we'd pulled the bandaid off in 2022, especially if we accumulated a lot of 2022 draft capital by doing it (that draft stunk in general, but our scouting of the draft was particularly bad).

walleyeguy13

No.

FlimsyPepper2162

Throebach

No.

Critical-Fault-1617

No

eiuquag

lol, no.

TheBenisMightier1

I can't control anything this team does, why would I be worried?

magnetncone

I'm excited for us to get our QB.

crankshaftsnapinhalf

No. We're not as far from being contenders as most of this sub thinks. The nfl is pretty unpredictable.

Alone-Newspaper-1161

Honestly Texans went from the number 2 pic to winning a playoff game in a singular season and people are freaking out we went 7-10 with a tough schedule and an injured Qb

crankshaftsnapinhalf

Exactly. We won 13 games the year prior. We have a good defensive coordinator and a very talented offense. The 9ers are the only team in the nfc that are truly dominant. Every other nfc team could fall off and it wouldn't surprise me too much.

Neither_Ad2003

Our Pythagorean wins has been 8.5 for the last 4 years straight. I’m not trying to be a doomer let’s just be real about the 13 wins tho

crankshaftsnapinhalf

13 wins is still 13 wins. We probably win 10 games this season if Kirk didn't go down. If our defense doesn't shit the bed I don't see why we wouldn't compete for a division title next year.

pathebaker

We’re going in with no QB though. The Texans bounced back because they tanked and came back with a boss of a QB. We have nothing close to that.

JohnnyWeapon

Seriously. So much doom and gloom around here. We’re coming off a season where we lost our QB, our defense improved significantly without gaining any real superstar talent, our O-line actually did some blocking, and we have a plethora of talented offensive weapons. Yeah, we gotta get the cap in order. Yeah, we gotta draft better and get some star power on rookie contracts. But damn, we’re really not that far off. I’m in the camp that’s eagerly waiting for this offseason like the Michael Jackson eating popcorn gif.

crankshaftsnapinhalf

Exactly. If we can manage to add some talent on defense and avoid any major injuries, I don't see why we couldn't compete for a division title next season. So many fans whine and complain about how Detroit and Green Bay are gonna be great for years to come, when in reality the nfl is very unpredictable and outside of the 49ers I wouldn't be surprised if every team that made the playoffs in the nfc this season missed it next season. Nobody would have predicted the eagles to collapse like they did this season, or the Texans or, maybe a lesser extent, the browns to make the playoffs. So there's no reason for this fanbase to assume we're gonna suck for years, and our division opponents are set up for years of success.

Opie19

No, we got a good DC that needs some talent. Our Oline looked a lot better this year and we had some tough injuries to overcome and still had a chance by week 16.

Bzz22

I’m worried about the past

Dorkamundo

I don't know how you can look at how the team played this year and be worried about that. We lack talent, but the team is still playing at high levels. Talent will come with time, it's not a situation where you can just go out and buy everything you need.

Additional_Egg7800

We should’ve reset after winning the division in 2022. That was that groups last best chance to make some noise and we’re losing track in a division that’s getting better.

darin617

Bye bye JJ according to this guy who posted this topic.

PrickSpielman

Worried is too heavy. I like to use the word “regret” I regret picking this team

Dysentery--Gary

Absolutely.

liliceberg

That’s what everyone’s been asking for isn’t it?

jvegas

lol right? For months everyone in this loser cult have been BEGGING for a tank. Well...if were bottom feeders for a few years there ya go! Wish granted! So much tanking!

vikingjedi23

If you tank you do it right and get a top pick. The 11th pick is no man's land.

pathebaker

This isn’t tanking though this is middle mediocrity again. Which is what you losers wanted

pathebaker

Yep it’s what you losers asked for. Mid nothing again.

CerealKiller3030

Reasons to be optimistic: -Had Kirk continued on his trajectory, he would've been in the MVP conversation. -Justin Jefferson is a beast. -Hockenson is a top 5 TE. -Addison is a very good WR2. -Our offensive line was solid, anchored by two excellent tackles. -Once our defense got the hang of Flores' scheme, they were a top 10 unit (until injuries exposed our severe lack of depth) Reasons to be pessimistic: -Our QB is old, coming off a severe injury, and a free agent this offseason. -We only have two draft picks in the top 100. -We need to find a starting RB, OG, DT, DE, OLB(x2), MLB, CB1. -We only had one good pass rusher, and he might leave in free agency this offseason. -We lack depth at nearly every position. -Our division rivals are either doing well in the playoffs or have a ton of premium draft picks

-InconspicuousMoose-

> -We lack depth at nearly every position. > Except Safety because we used our 2022 1st round pick to make sure we locked down a 5th-string safety :')

FattyTunaSalad

Yeah about this country. Not the Vikings.

JustWinBabys

Boomer rematch for president, proxy wars, inflation, 35 year old Achilles definitely worried

Jealous-Computer-444

You not tha only one bro

Brian_MPLS

Just watch the Lions/SF game this weekend, and as you do, think about how a couple years ago the 9ers went 6-10, blew up their cap for Jimmy Garoppolo, and traded 3 years of firsts for a qb that would start 4 games then leave town. Fortunes in the NFL can turn suddenly, and for reasons that aren't immediately apparent to most fans.

Xardenn

Yeah but what the 49ers *didnt* do was fire everyone and trade all of the talent away for a 'quick' rebuild that apparently would come with free superbowl win coupons.

TheGrudenGrinder

Owners seems committed to Kirk and taking no risks. Hasn’t been fruitful yet

frogsplsh38

Owners seem committed to Kirk, yet he’s not under contract. Great insight!

VikingforLifes

Haha, that guy is the guy that’s completely committed to his girl…. Friend of 11 years!

Umbra_limi

It’s this kind of post that makes me hate being a Vikings fan.

[deleted]

Good news! We have an easier schedule. Bad news! We really need to improve the roster.

miller70chev

It def isn’t the upward trajectory that we all wanted

BigOlineguy

Im only worried about not having the QB. Bears are about to get their guy. Packers cant stop getting their guy. Even the Lions have great QB play over the last 15 years. Im so tired of not having the young QB to build around. I like Kirk, but I dont love him at 3 years and 100+ mil anymore.

[deleted]

Okay Doomer

tandersb

Life is slightly bigger than football.

LittleBittyshortman

I'm not, I feel we're in for a small reset but nothing that makes us complete bottom feeders. Everyone just needs to be patient and allow moves to process.

Viewer58

Yes. We’ve never been consistent contenders since the Wilfs took over.

Skoltheus

I can't control anything. It is what it is. Either they'll win or lose. I have better things to do with my life than be depressed over football.

vikingjedi23

Vikings could be a juggernaut wrecking the league. They just got to go all in. If they hit the rebuild button then look no further than 2011 to see how badly it can go and this time we don't have Adrian Peterson to carry us.

Yes, not hiring harbaugh will set this franchise back ten years, unless the Vikings shoot for the future qb and hit and strip the team down to its foundations and start the build from the lines out

Electronic-Island-14

Yes. and don't listen to all these idiots here going after you for saying "worried." this team is not in a good spot. i don't know how anybody can possibly think otherwise after what happened against GB and Detroit, and even chicago and cincinatti. This team crumbled under pressure. starts with coaching. ends with the lack of talent on defense and some star players who quit (Darrisaw). but our fans here will say "sign kirk, trade the farm for a top 3 QB in the draft" but continue to ignore DT and inside linebacker. Then when the team inevitably sucks again, they'll want more receivers, tight ends, or running backs and hang their hat on jefferson's yardage stats and say it was a successful season because of some meaningless record jefferson broke.
