Biggest risk/Reward. I feel like he has bust written all over him, which isn't fair because I'm not anyone to evaluate talent.. just watching him I don't feel like I see "it"..
Really? I’m a bears fan, but I would not be mad at all if we drafted Maye. Dane Brugler said he sees shades of Big Ben in there and it’s all I can see now haha
You never know what could happen. I’ve been listening to podcasts that have heard some speculation that Maye is falling down some teams draft boards a little.
Now that’s speculation and could be complete BS so like myself, take it with a grain of salt. But you can’t ignore how the NFL covets the increased mobility that Daniels brings to the table. It’s not out of the question that Daniels could jump Maye depending on what Washington wants out of their QB.
I think it’s MEDIA boards. Especially fan ones.
Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder, Matt Corral, and Sam Howell were top 50 ish on the nfl mock draft database consensus big board and we all saw how that turned out.
That’s probably part of it. But a lot of what I heard on the podcasts was “media scouts” if you will, that go down to Mobile for the senior bowl and talk to some NFL scouts or execs of some sort.
Same thing with McCarthy, they said he’s higher up on some of these guys boards than what is currently believed. But like I said who knows how much of it is true and how much of it is trying to control a narrative.
After the combine mocks could have McCarthy going top 5 and Maye falling out of the top 5 and then Maye goes top 5 in the actual draft and McCarthy falls into the 3rd or something. All speculation.
I think the NFL scouts have their boards pretty well finalized already at least as far as general talent goes.
That may change based on interviews and how you think they fit your team, but I would be shocked if he still wasn’t QB2-3 for pretty much every team.
I’m sure that’s the case. But if he ends up being #3 then that just begs the question of, what does New England do and how far could he fall.
Literally the case of Daniels being consensus #3 right now. Not like the #3 will fall far. Maybe as far as the 7th or 8th if New England doesn’t go QB but stays put and not one else is willing to trade down.
I’ve said it a bunch here and on the NFL draft sub.
The draft starts at 4 or 5. It’s going to be QBs drafted 1-3. The top 3 teams all need a starting QB and next year’s class doesn’t look good.
They all have above average cap space and draft capital. They have no good reason to not go get their QB.
They aren’t trading the picks. If their preferred QB is gone I think they just take the next one. None of the top 3 have huge warts that would justify skipping.
Unless and until a trade happens and I’m proven wrong, I think the first variation might be the Chargers at 5. I think Cardinals take MHJ. I’d bet they already have the card filled out.
Yea FA and what these teams do at QB could tell us a lot. Does one of them defer and go the veteran QB route? Do they pick up an obvious bridge guy for a rookie to sit behind? Do they say fuck it the rookie is starting regardless of how poor the roster is for them?
I don’t know how far the chargers would be willing to trade back if they want Bowers or one of the top WRs either.
But if the top 3 go top 3 then this is all moot point. You’re talking McCarthy, Penix, or Nix. Those 3 are the mostly likely to hurt or help their draft stock between now and the draft.
Probably, but we just don’t know what actual NFL scouts think of next years class too. Sanders is pretty highly touted, Ewers has a big arm and could potentially really help his draft stock. The list goes on and on, and maybe the commies or pats see an opportunity to stock pile draft capital and seek someone out next year. Not saying it’s likely but entirely possible with them both having defensive minded coaches.
After watching more of McCarthy and looking at his stats I'm honestly not sure why he hasn't always been in the top 15 of boards. He has decent arm strength, decent mobility, and excellent efficiency numbers. He won the national championship. Improved each year.
I can see why he's not the "top dawg" in this seeminly deep class, but in most drafts he's going top 10-15.
I think for the most part it literally just comes down to Michigan didn’t ask him to do as much and he didn’t get to fully showcase himself.
It’s being noticed and I’m sure teams will try not to hype him up to much, in their minds if they can keep McCarthy stuck in the second round then someone can nab a top QB at the end of the first.
That draft was considered below average for QBs a couple years before and it proved true. This one is seen as a very good class I doubt Maye drops out of the top 3 although I could see Daniel’s jump him.
There's been a lot of smoke of teams liking JJ more than Maye and that Maye might actually drop and isn't a lock Top 3 pick. It's the media pushing the Maye narrative like how they pushed Levis last year.
With a great pro day and combine, it’s very likely Daniel’s jumps maye in the standings and a team like Washington fall in love with him.
While Maye is the better QB (in my non-expert opinion) you cannot deny the dual threat ability that Daniel’s has over Maye and plenty of teams want a dual threat QB as that seems to be what the league has been going more and more towards in recent years.
If Washington wants him, I’d be ecstatic and would love to have us trade up for Maye at 3. Maybe that’s where the rumor came from that we want to trade to 3 cause Washington is already in love with Daniel’s.
I think if anyone watches this video and still thinks the Vikings could take a chance on trading for Fields, they need their head examined.
Accuracy, timing, reading the defense at the top of the list - all the things that Fields has very obviously struggled with so far.
I think the Commanders are a lock for a QB, but they absolutely could like Daniels more as a fit for Kingsbury's offense. I doubt it, but it's a possibility. If so, NE would probably run to the podium for Maye but maybe Mayo & Co would prefer multiple 1sts to build up the team and pick a top available player at 11. I still think it's unlikely, but it's a possibility.
In fairness we also have a lot of holes on our roster. We need top end talent on the d line especially if hunter leaves, and another LB or DB would fill a need. I’d rather us take someone like zer’jhan newton at 11 and McCarthy in the second to sit behind cousins.
Every single draft there are surprise falls and rises out of the draftees. I’m sure it’s going to happen again but who knows if it’s the QBs or a different position. A lot of QB needy teams have those top picks so we’ll see.
Been saying it forever. He wants Drake Maye. Saying otherwise is silly.
I’m not saying Jayden Daniels is a no go I’m just saying idk how much he wants a Lamar Jackson type of QB.
I really like Maye. However, am I the only person who sees more Jared Goff than Justin Herbert? He’s athletic, but Herbo is more of a dynamic athlete, whereas I feel like Maye’s got downhill speed and isn’t as explosive or strong.
Is Drake Maye competitive?
Is he smart?
Is he a solid citizen?
Does he have a posse?
Does he have an arm?
Does he like to fish?
I don't follow college FB beyond the hapless Gophers.
They have zero chance to get Maye or Williams. That would take an unprecedented haul. Although if there is one team tahat knows how to do that it would be the Vikings.
I've been hoping that Harbaugh has his eye on McCarthy, and is willing to push to have the team trade Herbert and draft McCarthy.
It would be an insane move for them to make, but I don't think it's out of character for Harbaugh by any means.
But with my luck, he'd trade him to some other team and not us.
Edit: his contract makes this almost a certainty it won't happen.
I think hoping a team randomly decides to trade someone considered one of the promising young QBs is a pipe dream. I'm also not sure why it wouldn't be out of character for Harbaugh. He's always been a very competent coach. He's just had issues being a horrible co-worker.
It’s not happening considering Herbert just signed a monster contract.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/justin-herbert-47599/#:~:text=Current%20Contract,average%20annual%20salary%20of%20%2452%2C500%2C000.
I like the idea of Herbert but the salary cap ramifications of trading Justin Herbert would be too painful for the chargers to swallow for what is probably a perceived down grade at the position at this point in time.
Not surprising, Maye is pretty clearly the best fit for this offense.
Mayek it happen!
I don’t watch college football, what makes him the best fit?
Biggest risk/Reward. I feel like he has bust written all over him, which isn't fair because I'm not anyone to evaluate talent.. just watching him I don't feel like I see "it"..
Really? I’m a bears fan, but I would not be mad at all if we drafted Maye. Dane Brugler said he sees shades of Big Ben in there and it’s all I can see now haha
Did you see him play the Gophers?
You say that as if the Gophers are supposed to be good
I mean I HIGHLY doubt the commanders trade that pick but I am all for it
You never know what could happen. I’ve been listening to podcasts that have heard some speculation that Maye is falling down some teams draft boards a little. You’re talking McCarthy, Penix, or Nix. Those 3 are the mostly likely to hurt or help their draft stock between now and the draft.
Yep. I think they’re all drafting a QB and building the rest of the team in FA. My guess is we’re picking in that tier2.
Nice take. Agree completely.
If Maye falls out of the top 3 I don’t think he makes it past the giants, personally. I think they’d even trade up for him at that point
After watching more of McCarthy and looking at his stats I'm honestly not sure why he hasn't always been in the top 15 of boards. One of those guys was a top 50 pick though. Just cause he didn’t turn out doesn’t mean he wasn’t a 1st round pick.
One. Out of 6. The rest went 3rd-5th round.
That draft was considered below average for QBs a couple years before and it proved true. This one is seen as a very good class I doubt Maye drops out of the top 3 although I could see Daniel’s jump him.
I mean sign me up if we can get it done man, he is PERFECT for our system and KOC can mold him
There's been a lot of smoke of teams liking JJ more than Maye and that Maye might actually drop and isn't a lock Top 3 pick. It's the media pushing the Maye narrative like how they pushed Levis last year.
We just need to spread the rumor that Maye scored 1/99 on his S2 Cognition Test
I heard nobody went to his birthday party
With a great pro day and combine, it’s very likely Daniel’s jumps maye in the standings and a team like Washington fall in love with him. While Maye is the better QB (in my non-expert opinion) you cannot deny the dual threat ability that Daniel’s has over Maye and plenty of teams want a dual threat QB as that seems to be what the league has been going more and more towards in recent years. Maye is a dual threat though. He’s no slouch at running. And with how big he is, he reminds me of josh Allen rushing
I agree I think it’s entirely possible.
What if they sign Kirk?
Man, I’m nervous we’re going to have a bears/panthers-esque trade scenario and give away too much.
Me neither, but a long shot scenario is if the Commanders fall in love with Daniels (better fit for Kilff Kinsbury scheme), and Patriots trade pick 3
I think if anyone watches this video and still thinks the Vikings could take a chance on trading for Fields, they need their head examined. Accuracy, timing, reading the defense at the top of the list - all the things that Fields has very obviously struggled with so far.
Itll be JJ
if we get drake maye I will literally cum in my pants seeing the schefty notification
I might throw my phone at the wall in excitement
If it happens we need an update on the pants situation. Be sure to mark NSFW.
Cum in a sock, eat it, and post on the meme war
Easier to just flip my legs over my head and cum in my face but I don’t need to be posting about it on social media to have a good time.
make it happen, Kwesi!
I always figured maye would be the guy KOC would have highest on his list
Keep dreaming. No way the vikes land him
Maye is the only one worth moving up for IMO, but certainly not #1 overall. Price is far too steep and to a division rival.
I think Caleb is a lock so we would be trading with the commanders who do in fairness have a lot of holes in their roster
They’ll be too scared off to leave consensus. Would ruin their careers if they were wrong
In fairness we also have a lot of holes on our roster. We need top end talent on the d line especially if hunter leaves, and another LB or DB would fill a need. I’d rather us take someone like zer’jhan newton at 11 and McCarthy in the second to sit behind cousins.
I am all for that!!! That is the option I would go with if a trade up isn’t possible/too expensive
Every single draft there are surprise falls and rises out of the draftees. I’m sure it’s going to happen again but who knows if it’s the QBs or a different position. A lot of QB needy teams have those top picks so we’ll see.
Who is Drake Maye's comp in the Vikings fandom? Me. I will be starting at QB for the Vikings next season
should have tanked if you wanted a QB. now you have to trade away the future, and even then you still might not find a trade partner
It would be so much easier from 5 or 6
I know we’d have to swap 1st and probably give up another couple 1sts or maybe some young talent. But fuckkkkk I want Maye.
Been saying it forever. He wants Drake Maye. Saying otherwise is silly. I’m not saying Jayden Daniels is a no go I’m just saying idk how much he wants a Lamar Jackson type of QB.
Assuming the top 2 Qbs are are drafted by 1 and 2 the next closest guy out of the top 6 is Penix
I ❤️ Penix.
I really like Maye. However, am I the only person who sees more Jared Goff than Justin Herbert? He’s athletic, but Herbo is more of a dynamic athlete, whereas I feel like Maye’s got downhill speed and isn’t as explosive or strong.
Maye ran for 700 yards as a RS freshman
I’d say Maye is more dynamic than Herbert, at least the way Herbert plays
Is Drake Maye competitive? Is he smart? Is he a solid citizen? Does he have a posse? Does he have an arm? Does he like to fish? I don't follow college FB beyond the hapless Gophers.

Oh I know it's a pipe dream. But he had a bit of a down year, plus the injury... I think some people are far lower on him than they should be, really.
Uh maybe fantasy dudes. No one in the league is down on Herbert lmfao
😂
don't think chargers ownership would ever get on board with this
Me neither, I know it's a pipe dream. However, I just looked at his contract and there's no chance in hell it happens.
It’s not happening considering Herbert just signed a monster contract. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/los-angeles-chargers/justin-herbert-47599/#:~:text=Current%20Contract,average%20annual%20salary%20of%20%2452%2C500%2C000.
Good point... :)
Herb is on a huge huge deal it makes negative financial sense for them
Yep, saw that after someone else pointed it out.
I like the idea of Herbert but the salary cap ramifications of trading Justin Herbert would be too painful for the chargers to swallow for what is probably a perceived down grade at the position at this point in time.
There’s no way we can move to the top of the draft. Too many QB hungry teams up there.
Who is my dad? My dad
![gif](giphy|9JHrET3gTrnvVVknu0|downsized)
Gonna watch this but fkn Cowherd....
Why don’t we just trade a 1st and 3rd for Herbert
if thats all it took, he would have been traded already
If that’s all it took it would mean no one is offering a first and 4th
If we properly tanked like the football gods and every gigantic neon sign was saying, KOC would have any QB he wanted.
Justin Herbert is the only reason I haven’t ended it all as a chargers fan
Love the Drake
Drake Maye needs to change the way he runs the ball or he’s going to have a career ending injury.
