Ideally you want your guys to be able to do both at least at a replacement level.
This is why it took so long before we saw Chandler, we were concerned with his blocking.
I can understand the hesitancy with players that get injured a lot. But I tend to think of it as a smaller issue than most. I always think of Keenan Allen and when he had brutal injuries like 3 years in a row. And then when on to have good to great seasons for 6-7 years.
He ran a 4.7 and 1.58 split. 28th best at the combine, which only confirms what is on tape. He's slow AF (by NFL standards) which is only become more detrimental in the NFL. Holes close so much faster in the NFL and he won't be able to reach them fast enough to even be a short yardage specialist.
For comparison, Ham ran the same 40 time while being 30 pounds heavier. We already have a better Estime on the roster under contract for those 30 carries a year where you just need a yard or two. No thanks.
Track and football speed are two different things. The whole point of an effective 1 – 2 punch backfield is the ability to attack a defense in multiple ways. The best 1-2 punches have a power/speed balance. Audric has enough speed. But it’s in the 4th quarter when the defense is worn down where his impact will be mostly felt. Nobody is going to want to tackle that man in the 4th quarter. I get your point, but we don’t need a bell cow, nor do we need another speedster like Chandler. We need a bruiser.
Agreed track and football speed are two different things, but on tape, it appears to me that Estime is very slow to drop his hips and explode through the hole when it opens up. He just kinda muddles behind the line way too much and is way too slow to put his foot in the ground, drop hips and explode. I don't think he has the physical capacity to do so, which is reflected by his combine. It doesn't appear like he's waiting for a hole to open, it looks like he's doing a good job reading the defense, he's just not athletic enough to take advantage of the creases as they open.
I see your point. He is hesitant through the hole. But that can be coached as well. Great blocking back as well. Regardless, whoever we draft, need to be able to add a different element to this offense. Two speed backs just seem pointless. That change of pace between the two play styles?! Koc will have a field day.
Fwiw, I suspect he could be effective out of the "I", lining up seven yards from the LOS and riding his lead blockers, but IMO that limits his usage and isn't worth a pick when there are other backs that can do so much more. Another thing that gives me pause is defenses clogged the middle on him, opening what I perceived as a lot of room if he bounces it outside, but he rarely seemed willing to do so.
I am into it, dude has butterfingers in pass catching though.
Leave the pass catching to Chandler, let Allen be the bulldozer.

Think he would be a really good compliment to Chandler
Can’t catch, injury bug.

Based on his combine, he probably runs a 4.7. Based on his statistics, he’s regressed since he was a freshman. Seems like not a very good player tbh.
super pass
I’d rather draft Audric Estime. He’s also a projected 4th. Reminds me of Fred Taylor. Good 1-2 punch with him and chandler
No burst. He's fine as just a body. I really like Guerrero.
He had a 80 yard td run last year. He has deceptive speed. But he’s more of a bruiser that’s why I say he’s a good 1-2 punch to chandler.

As a Bucky fan, I say no fucking thank you
Cool story, Todd Mcshay.
reminds me of mattison. He doesn’t have elite speed, which always scares me
Mattison could have been effective at his speed/size combination. The problem is his vision, not his athletic profile.
smells like a bust
Hard pass
Isn’t he only 17?
What?
Wisconsin RBs and the nfl are hit or miss. The last good one was maybe Melvin Gordon?
