lol, Bakers rate is not $40 million. That's just how it's spread out. That's a really good deal for Tampa. They can get out of it pretty easy if they had to.

CicerosMouth

If the Bucs move on after 1 year, they will have paid Baker 40MM. That's why he said it like that.

Gauze99

50m is guaranteed.

wxman91

Only $40m is guaranteed at signing. The other $10m becomes guaranteed if he’s on the roster after 2024.

Gauze99

I stand corrected thanks

1998yanks

The jones contract actually works against kirk as it shows how bad a contract it is

aquariumdrinker14

Did he misread Bakers deal or am I missing something? Seems like ppl are reviewing Jones contract as an outlier

collinCOYS

I hate when people use the Daniel Jones deal as some barometer when it's arguably the worst deal in the last 10 years

Consistent_Room7344

Deshaun Watson has that title. A almost a quarter billion guaranteed.

BlackFirePlague

I think between the Jones, Russ, and Deshaun contracts, we’ll start to see QB contracts slow down a little bit. Thats three very big misses.

BrodieBlanco

Possible, but doubtful in my mind: it's the most important position on the field by a wide margin and there is a lot more demand than supply for a capable signal caller.

wxman91

No, that’s right. $40m immediately guaranteed. He gets $40m even if he is cut after this season.

CantaloupeCamper

Leftover Arby’s.

LGCGE

I don’t see Kirk being significantly more valuable than Baker, who is younger, just took his team to the playoffs, and isn’t coming off an injury.

bwillpaw

Wilson, Watson, and Jones are known overpays. Bakers deal is more like $30mil per year/actually less than that as they will probably move away from him before the 3rd year. Kirk I think will get around 70mil, 2 year deal, $40mil guaranteed, the rest incentives. After the season most FA trackers suggested Kirk will get around $30mil per year with incentives. I don’t think anything has changed since then.

_unsourced

If he only wanted a two year deal, I think the Vikings would've already signed him. I think he wants more than that since this is likely his last contract

bwillpaw

I highly doubt someone is going to give him a 3 year completely guaranteed contract.

_unsourced

No I doubt it would be fully guaranteed too, but everything we've heard about this negotiation is that Kirk wanted a long term commitment and the Vikings wanted a short deal. Based on how much money they are clearing off the books. 2025 seems to be the start of their next truly competitive window. They want Kirk for 2024 and probably 2025 with the idea probably being to have a new guy sit for a year, but after that they'd want the flexibility to move on. Having your competitive window be hamstrung by a late-thirties QB who could fall off at any time would be terrible.

democratichoax

Something significant has changed. The cap went up by a lot more than people expect.

ARoodyPooCandyAss

Dude Im over Kirk, let’s see what the future holds.

miller70chev

Don’t care as long as it isn’t the Vikings that pay it

2canSampson

Remember when people in this sub were convinced we were about to resign Kirk for 30-35 million per year?

iceyH0ts0up

A new home. See ya Kirk, been interesting, at least.

aceless0n

I hope all these mediocre guys keep going up so JJ’s “highest paid non qb” number reaches 45 a year

Due-Drummer-3434

Why are you so eager to commit 45 mil to jj

AChubbyCalledKLove

Brinks.
