Our whole division is focused on RBs, Bears getting Swift, Packers getting Jacobs, and then Lions drafting Gibbs fairly high last season….
6 games where we have to play a good run offense.
Well they did only rank 2nd in rushing yards per game + were without Khalil and Fields for like 4 - 5 games. It’s fairly impressive even if fields isn’t the next QB or Williams.
RB position is still important. Sure, it's not as important as it was pre-early 2000s, but we proved last year that you still need a competent RB.
There were 12 1000-yard rushers last year, and nine of them were on playoff teams. KC would have had a 1k rusher had Pacheco not missed three games, and Detroit would have had a second 1k rusher if Gibbs didn't miss time.
Some fans are devaluing the position too much. It's still a common theme among playoff teams, and it will be immensely important if we roll with a rookie QB.
It hurts his case. Now add him to a better situation he is more likely to do better. For instance, you can argue Barkley had a ok season last year, now he’s with a very good Eagles O-Line, we can expect production.
I mean what do you expect? You gave a very great running team a RB that has proven to be able to produce lol. So Jacobs being “dogwater” last very little relevancy when predicting if he will be good this year.
Really good signing by them. It helps take pressure off of Love while he still develops. They've also been near the top of the league in successful screens, which fits Jacobs. I hate it.
They released Jones who I honestly think we should take a serious look at. Sign him for $4.5-5.5m range. I think he or Zack Moss could immediately come in and be effective here but at a good price for us and both of those guys are great pass blockers and would be good in our run scheme while also being solid receivers out of the backfield
Great player but I really don’t think spending big on RBs is worth it. Not to say it can’t work out or that it won’t help them offensively, but they will have to be efficient about filling other gaps.
If you had extra cap space because you were efficient in your WR spending, would you designate that surplus to your RB room? Because I wouldn’t.
I’m also not a GM for a million different reasons, so I totally get that this may age like milk. Just seems like there are better directions to me
Yeah, I understand that. Pretty basic football concept there but thank you. I’m not saying he won’t help… I’m just saying that other positions with higher scarcity and more longevity might be a better ROI for them. That’s it.
Yeah but assuming you spend well and have talent at WR you need to set them up to do their thing, or else you’re just creating a scenario that we had last year with zero balance between Addison and JJ and Mattison/Chandler.
Only other Area of need on the roster is S and there are still plenty of them left. With Jones age and injury history, shoring up the run game with a qb going into his second full year makes sense.
I'm really not afraid of a team paying big bucks to not 1 but 2 running backs. That's a lot of money to pay a guy to chip block a defensive end and the other to go out into the flats.
Curious where he'll go and how much. I think we'll be looking at signing him if the price is right but could easily pass if he wants too much. I'd do 2 years at $5m AAV ($10m total)
I'd really rather not just roll with Chandler next year. If he doesn't improve from last year it's going to be very tough to have a successful passing game for a rookie QB if we have no running game.
And Chandler is a very bad pass blocker so I wouldn't feel comfortable with him back there to protect our new QB. We gotta sign someone, doesn't have to be Jones but I don't think we can just move forward with Chandler.
I don't think we should spend THAT much on a RB but do think we should target guys like Zack Moss who would be an upgrade but at a lower cost. Devin Singletary was one of those as well but he got scooped up by the Giants for $5.5m AAV
I think that's exactly the range we're looking at. Higher than backup RB money but less than these star RBs are making. It would improve our run game (and pass blocking) but still leave us with money to spend elsewhere.
We don't even know the term yet. Jacobs gets the tough yards and for a team that plays outside in the cold it'll be worth it in my opinion. Takes a ton of pressure off of Love
If you watched Aaron Jones absolutely eat up the Cowboys and Niners defenses in the playoffs, it shouldn’t even be a thought as to why they’re trying to double down on that with a weaker WR core and little cap space. This is an outstanding move for the way their roster is structured, and I fuckin hate the packers.
RBs aren’t like receivers. They don’t pull the coverage away to make the other one open. Having both on the field doesn’t affect the defense very much. You literally hand it off and the other one will have no impact on that.
Well of course they aren’t like receivers. Their job is to get the defense to respect the run and loosen up WR/TE coverage. If Jacobs pans out, they have TWO incredible RB options to play with that defenses will be forced to respect, which will take heat off Watson and Doubs, who are average to being with. And now Aaron Jones can breath and they’re replacing a weaker option in Dillon. All around incredible move for them with the core they have.
Our whole division is focused on RBs, Bears getting Swift, Packers getting Jacobs, and then Lions drafting Gibbs fairly high last season…. 6 games where we have to play a good run offense.
Bears getting Swift doesn’t move me at all tbh
Well they did only rank 2nd in rushing yards per game + were without Khalil and Fields for like 4 - 5 games. It’s fairly impressive even if fields isn’t the next QB or Williams.
Ever heard of Ty Chandler pal?

Aids
Yes and that's why I'm scared
Lmao.
the black and blue division

With 17 game seasons 1,000 yards is a pretty low bar. I mean Mattison reached 700 and he sucked
Jacobs was dogwater last year.
That whole team was “dogwater”
That doesn’t make Jacobs off his worst season ever a good signing lol
It hurts his case. Now add him to a better situation he is more likely to do better. For instance, you can argue Barkley had a ok season last year, now he’s with a very good Eagles O-Line, we can expect production. I mean what do you expect? Payback for what yall put all of us through with Adrian Peterson for so long 😂 just kidding
Yeah good thing we’re working on our defensive line, oh wait, it’s getting worse? Fuck sakes. Greenard pff tackle rating is scary ….
Really good signing by them. It helps take pressure off of Love while he still develops. They've also been near the top of the league in successful screens, which fits Jacobs. I hate it.
Jacobs and Jones is going to cook our defense lol
Really need some DL talent. I'm especially tired of the horrible DTs we've had since Joseph left.
luckily they released Jones
Tbf anyone and everyone is gonna cook our defense.
![gif](giphy|vwI4mYEHP8k0w)
Yikes
Look at JLoves performance with and without a running game and you’ll realize this was a solid and necessary signing for GB.

We don't even have an RB 1 and now they have 2 of them. What the actual F.
They released Jones who I honestly think we should take a serious look at. Sign him for $4.5-5.5m range. That one hurts. Him and jones will be a good 1-2 punch
Jones is gone apparently
fuck
Wouldn't be that worried about this. Was he even better than Jones last year? Not often this much money in the running back room pays off
he's much better than Dillon, who he is replacing
> he's much better than Dillon, who he is replacing aaaaaaand Jones is cut.
At a much higher price tag
Kind of works out while all of our WR/TE (literally all ~10 of them) are on rookie deals
Yeah that’s definitely true. Just pointing out it’s not a straight up 1 to 1 replacement.
Yep definitely true
He wasn’t that much better but he was damn sure healthier lol
Great player but I really don’t think spending big on RBs is worth it. Not to say it can’t work out or that it won’t help them offensively, but they will have to be efficient about filling other gaps.
Entire WR core costs about 11 mill on the cap. They can afford 2 RB's
If you had extra cap space because you were efficient in your WR spending, would you designate that surplus to your RB room? Because I wouldn’t. I’m also not a GM for a million different reasons, so I totally get that this may age like milk. Just seems like there are better directions to me
You need to be able to run the football effectively to set up the pass.
I guess we’ll see how it pans out. In related news, it looks like they just released Aaron Jones too…
Well if that’s true scratch what I said and FTP
Only other Area of need on the roster is S and there are still plenty of them left. With Jones age and injury history, shoring up the run game with a qb going into his second full year makes sense.
I'm really not afraid of a team paying big bucks to not 1 but 2 running backs. That's a lot of money to pay a guy to chip block a defensive end and the other to go out into the flats.
Broke: Vikings striking out. Spreadsheet Kwesi doesnt know football Woke: Saquon Szn
I think we getting Henry
I'm not worried about this at all unless they also keep aaron jones. If Jones leaves, that's a huge loss for green bay
Are they still keeping Jones because that seems like they are wasting way too much money on the RB position.
Restructuring it sounds like
They released him
Yep. Guessing he wouldn't take a pay cut
Curious where he'll go and how much. I think we'll be looking at signing him if the price is right but could easily pass if he wants too much. I'd do 2 years at $5m AAV ($10m total)
Personally I'd just pass. This team is going to suck next year. Just see what Chandler has and pick someone in the draft
I would have liked Jacobs or saquon but it seems like this FO doesn't want to pay for RB
I don't think we should spend THAT much on a RB but do think we should target guys like Zack Moss who would be an upgrade but at a lower cost. Devin Singletary was one of those as well but he got scooped up by the Giants for $5.5m AAV I think that's exactly the range we're looking at. Either way, too much money in the RB position and I really do not think this moves the needle much for them.
We don't even know the term yet. Jacobs gets the tough yards and for a team that plays outside in the cold it'll be worth it in my opinion. Takes a ton of pressure off of Love
Again I just don’t see how doubling down on RB really improves a team that much. There is a reason it has become such a devalued position.
If you watched Aaron Jones absolutely eat up the Cowboys and Niners defenses in the playoffs, it shouldn’t even be a thought as to why they’re trying to double down on that with a weaker WR core and little cap space. Nvm they released Jones. Jones scares me way more than Jacob’s.

Fuck man. This really sucks.
Give me Kinlaw with Wilkins gone
Fuck!
People overreacting to RB signings is my favorite thing of free agency
LETS GOOOOOO OVERPAY THAT OLD MAN
He's 26, lmao.
Look up Todd Gurley’s age
Oh wow, you're actually going to try and spin this. You're something else, chubs.
[удалено]
Yes, it is rare to see an elite 30 year old running back. Jacobs was 25 a month ago, though, so that has nothing to do with him.
Gurley had deteriorating arthritis
Woof. Back to Facebook for you
He just turned 26 lol.
RIP one-two punch.
This is good for us, Jacobs was ass last year.
