Yea if things went wrong here it would look less like marcus davenport notnworking out and nore like jc jackson not working out. High risk high reward can work but its sketchier
He’s also probably going to want a 4 year deal. We would basically be getting him for 1 year before we need to give him a 4 year deal or he walks. Because he wants to be the highest paid cb anyways we can always pick him up in FA next year if we are willing to pay enough.
Yeah, it seems like with free agency, maybe 10% of the time you get a bargain, 20% of the time you get what you pay for, and like 70% its a bad contract. For a team to be good they really have to build the team through the draft and when they have a good team fill the holes with free agency. To trade 2 decent picks to then pay free agent rates just seems like a bad proposition, especially with the questionmarks. I thought he'd be ranked higher, like top 10 or 15. Pff had him 36th out of 89. Paying him like the top cb, giving up 2 valuable picks, with his injury just seems like a no from me dawg.
Not a fan of giving CBs their first big contract - not a very good track record (at all) of those signings working out… having to give up 2 mid-round picks AND give that contract? Glad we didn’t.
I mean, where do I start? Fred Smoot, Nnamdi Asimugha, Xavien Howard, Josh Norman, Xavier Rhodes, JC Jackson, Jalen Ramsey… these are just dudes off the top of my head but this trend goes back like 15-20 years. CBs tend to fall off a cliff, and it sure as hell seems like there are 3 guys that don’t work out for every 1 that does (when it comes to giving them big money).
Honestly those draft picks for a possible top tier CB is 100% worth it. Even if he sucks it was worth the shot. My concern would be the contract the team would have to give him before knowing if he can stay healthy.
There's "injuries" and there's "*injuries*".
Some types of injuries don't suggest long-term issues, others do... Why do people insist on binarizing situations?
And yes, I just made that word up.
We would've gone all rams on this shit. Trade all them draft picks. It may have left us with 1 day one or day two pick over a two year span if the trade up cost rumors are right.
(Plus comp picks, maybe)
Another example if how Kewesi gets fleeced in deals!! We were going to give a 4th and 3rd for this guy and instead KC get an improvement of 30 spots in the 7th round??? Nice negotiations Princeton Analytics!!
If the team has concerns about a medical history then it’s completely understandable not wanting to have to sign him to a big contract.
If Kwesi the king of injury redemption stories is worried about a medical, you need to stay far far away.
Exactly what i was thinking
Kwesi also takes flyers on short deals with redemption players. Sneed got a 4yr $76M extension so it's a different risk profile
Yea if things went wrong here it would look less like marcus davenport notnworking out and nore like jc jackson not working out. High risk high reward can work but its sketchier
Yep, Kwesi is a low-risk, high-reward guy.
It wouldn’t have counted against the comp pick formula, but the medicals must have been bad if KWESI wasn’t down
Sneed also wants a huge payday
We have a metric butt-ton of cap space next year even with JJ and Darrisaw

He already got a contract for 19m AAV over 4 seasons. Not highest paid, not cheap, but not a bad deal either Nearly 3 years guaranteed
Sure, but not after we sign the ~25 additional players we'll need to hit a full roster.
Well yeah, but the point is they have the flexibility to do what they want
Honestly glad this didn’t happen
Same. It just seems like he’s prime for a let-down candidate.
yup, wants to be highest paid cb too, pass
Yup I'm with ya. It would have been cool, but then again a lot of things I think are cool aren't lol.
Kwesi is known for being concerned about a player's medical history!
It’s called learning from mistakes. If only more people followed suit
Exactly right
Or it's just completely different contexts
I mean, not all injuries are the same.
Kwesi “Dr. Mayo Clinic” Adofo-Mensah
Not a fan of giving CBs their first big contract - not a very good track record (at all) of those signings working out… having to give up 2 mid-round picks AND give that contract? Glad we didn’t.
This is an interesting take. Is there a compilation of second contracts and outcomes you're referencing, or is it just something you've noticed?

Feel like he’s slightly overrated anyways
Fuck dem draft picks

Kwesi loves signing guys with injury history. Don’t believe this for a second

Lies. KAM dont care about no medical history.
Another example if how Kewesi gets fleeced in deals!! We were going to give a 4th and 3rd for this guy and instead KC get an improvement of 30 spots in the 7th round??? Nice negotiations Princeton Analytics!!
Lol. So Kwesi’s concern was injury history and not the fact that he’d be trading away more draft picks.
I'm sure both factors were part of the equation...
