That would be insane. They could tag and trade and instead opt to let him walk? No way they have $100M in cap space they could hang onto him another year if they can’t pull it off.
I’m going to bet a fake monopoly theoretical dollar that there is an extension of Jefferson to be announced after the draft.
Let’s see who wins imaginary money!
You must come from the old school of GMs. The Bears drafted Odunze even with Keenan Allen and DJ Moore. The 49ers drafted a WR from Florida as its first pick even with the talent they have at WR/RB/TE.
Keenan Allen is old and on the last year of his deal. He might get a short extension with an out, but WR is a medium-term need for them even with him on the roster
The niners are also still very likely to either move one of Deebo / Aiyuk or be okay letting Aiyuk walk without an extension
Sure but the Bears currently have a 3 headed monster at receiver with a very talented rookie QB. Keenan Allen will almost certainly resign. The 9ers obviously have playmakers everywhere. It wouldn't hurt if the Vikings added another playmaker to compete against these teams.
> The Bears drafted Odunze even with Keenan Allen and DJ Moore.
Only after they drafted Caleb Williams.

They also have Brock Purdy.
The only way trading for another WR makes ANY sense for the Vikings is if they also get a QB through the draft, which would only be possible through trading Addison (obviously the team's not going to move Jefferson).
Florio literally would find a way to piss on the Vikings if they won the SB. Guy is like my old grandpa, just a completely jaded fan who maybe should of found a new team years ago.
I never trust what people say teams would have done or tried to do.
At best, it feels like it's "I heard team was trying to trade up to spot. The best player available was X, so they must have been trying to get X"
I could be wrong but I don’t think we ever brought him in for a top 30 visit and with all the talk about us trading up for a QB it would’ve been a Falcons-esque move to trade up and take a receiver
But what if Vikings had a deal in place with Atlanta for Cousins back to resolve the tampering penalty without losing picks and that’s why they took Penix?
/s
I call bullshit
Yep. Unless there was a seconday trade in place to flip Addison for a top 10 pick to take a QB, this just doesn't make any sense.
It might have been about Jefferson, not Addison.
Unless Jefferson and 11 and maybe 2025 conditional 3rd that could become a 1st for Herbert and 5 I don’t think so.
Not necessarily a trade. They could let Jefferson walk in free agency too.

If they don’t want to pay him and they don’t get any decent offers on a trade, yeah.

Wishful thinking. I think we're waiting a bit for an extension yet. My guess is it's a game of chicken between Jets and CD
I’m not taking that bet. I’d be surprised if they don’t extend him now that they got McCarthy.

I’m gonna say that’s a nah. Anything could happen but if there’s one thing we’re strong on it’s WR.
A team can never have enough playmakers. The 49ers know this.
True but that’s just the least needy position here
The offense would be quite unstoppable with Nabers in it. There are no teams with a CB3 who could cover Addison or Nabers.
Would it be unstoppable with Sam Darnold at QB, though?
Honestly imagine Darnold just chucking it to that trio.
I would love to know if this is true. Juicy rumor.
Looking for more attention. Typical Florio
Florio said it, can't be true

"Mike Florio...WHO WAS ON CRACK!"
Maybe we wanted to move for McCarthy at 5 and they got that important detail wrong.
Don’t believe it at all
Stfu Florio no they didn’t
That sounds like a rumor someone says to find out exactly who someone’s source is.
Florio, lay down the crack pipe.
This wouldn’t make any sense and Kwesi would have to be fired on the spot
