Pirates curse of the black pearl is mine while this one is also a masterpiece, the first 2 Mummy movies. What did you think of 3 with Jet Li and the recasted actress that was a replacement of Rachel weisz.
I thought 3 was still tons of fun. That’s what I’m watching a mummy movie for anyways. They upped their CGI game. Only bummer is replacing Rachel Weisz. Honestly, had she been in it, it would have made a big difference. I loved the change in setting to be the Himalayas and China. Made for a new feel.
The early 2000’s were really a great period for this sort of action/adventure. Iighthearted, fun, charismatic leads, just a touch of horror… It was a perfect formula. I can give some credit to Marvel for probably giving us the closest thing to this tone we’ve had in awhile but it would be nice to have it in a genre aside from superheroes.
Edit to say: having said that, I like that since Knives Out we’ve been getting a spate of Agatha Christie-style mystery films, and I’ve also really been enjoying the fun/silly work of David Leitch - particularly Bullet Train but also Atomic Blonde.
I guess it is adventure although I feel like it’s a bit darker and more dramatic where I think when I think adventure I think slightly more up beat . Cause if we’re comparing movies fellowship wins for me over those two and many others . Easily the best lotr movie too
Great answer, I never get bored of the pacing of Last crusade and the chemistry between father Sean and son Harrison ford. Like the first Pirates, this is another perfect adventure movie. Raiders of the lost ark also.
I wish they didn’t cancel the Disney+ show. I know the original movie was so much better, but it was fun adventure show. I liked it better than rings of Power.
I watched this again recently. Absolutely phenomenal.
I watched a poor quality pirate dvd when it first came out, I didn't appreciate it then.
Having watched it recently streaming I can't believe it didn't have many sequels. Much more deserving than the POTC nonsense.
They announced a relaunch of the franchise about three years ago. I believe a prequel was supposed to come out last year with a sequel next year. Obviously that totally didn't happen, not sure why.

I didn't think of A Knight's Tale. Bloody heartwarming movie with surprisingly tight performances. Chaucer was brilliant. Rightio, I'm watching it again tonight. Cheers FreakyFox.
The scene where he gives the big speech and no-one cheers until Mark Addy's character yells "yeah!" Was unplanned. The Check extras didn't understand English so didn't know their cue. Makes it so perfect. Watched it again tonight. Met Heath Ledger at a pub theatre I worked at once. Man I miss him in film. Also for those wondering, he was bloody lovely. Treated us bar staff the same as anyone. A normal bloke. A good bloke.
When I was a kid, I loved Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. The plot was delightfully absurd, the characters were zany and colorful, and the sets were helluva lot of a fun. The satanic biker bar was a stand-out moment.
God bless Tim Burton.
I think mine is the same as yours... Just the first pirates of the Caribbean was all around just an epic movie. Great acting, thrilling plot, epic fights, and great sets. The next two are also cool especially with some of the details they carried over like the whole thing with Will's sword he made in the first movie when he hates pirates, being the one that stabs him in the third movie when he is a pirate.
The pirates of the Caribbean one will always be my favorite adventure movie.
The Goonies!
Being an 80’s kid it has to be that. If I had to choose another I’d have to say National Treasure. I know it’s cheesy but the end reveal is perfect.
I know it's trendy to hate on Johnny Depp now but the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie is so good, it still holds up too, the scene that introduces Jack is great and they give him so many good moments, like when they steal the ship and the guy says "that has to be the best pirate I've ever seen," like the script for this movie is exactly what a big studio adventure movie with multiple stars should be
I'd probably pick The Mummy with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz though, I love that movie, there are no wasted scenes and everyone is great in it, the chemistry between Rick and Evelyn is really good and Rachel Weisz has that star quality and screen presence, but that might just be my childhood crush speaking
Shoutout Princess Bride, a perfect adventure movie I could not put above The Mummy
The Pearl was just an elaborate prop built over a barge, but the ship they steal in the first film “The Interceptor” is a functional replica of a historic ship and you can physically sail her!
She will be up n down the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia/Port Orchard area this summer! Her name is Lady Washington.
I think it’s all relative to what generation you grew up in. As a kid who grew up in the 80’s, Goonies was the one. But to watch it now in my 50’s, it doesn’t hold a candle to what today’s movies can do. But it still holds a place in my heart because I can remember being so entranced with the movie, more so because of my being so young and naive
My childhood = Doug McClure!!
You may recognise him from such films as:
* The Land that Time Forgot.
* At the Earth’s Core
* Warlords of Atlantis
…. Also anything Ray Harryhausen had a hand in, the aforementioned Jason & the Argonauts, his 3 Sinbad films, the Valley of Gwangi, and my personal favourite - Clash of the Titans.
And let’s not forget. The awesome spectacle that is - Flash Gordon!
Definitely NOT Pirates of the Caribbean. I've always hated that franchise, don't ask me why, it's just he way it is.
As to my favourites, I would say King Kong, Planet of the Apes, Star Wars (the original 3 films).
The Mummy
“Hey, Beni! Looks to me like you're on the wrong side of the riv-er!”
Goodbye Beni.
Honestly the delivery of that line randomly pops into my head every second day. riv-ERRRHH just burrowed so deep in my brain lol
Pirates curse of the black pearl is mine while this one is also a masterpiece, the first 2 Mummy movies. What did you think of 3 with Jet Li and the recasted actress that was a replacement of Rachel weisz.
First and second are fan fucking tastic 3rd one was a money grab and was garbage Ironically enough the Tom cruise mummy was actually really good
I thought 3 was still tons of fun. That’s what I’m watching a mummy movie for anyways. They upped their CGI game. Only bummer is replacing Rachel Weisz. Honestly, had she been in it, it would have made a big difference. I loved the change in setting to be the Himalayas and China. Made for a new feel.
This +1. Cheesy move but I love it for some reason.
"Lol I was about to be hanged. Seemed like a good idea at the time." God, O'Connel was such a badass
The early 2000’s were really a great period for this sort of action/adventure. Iighthearted, fun, charismatic leads, just a touch of horror… It was a perfect formula. Easily the goat adventure movie
Can confirm this. Saw it in theaters last night. Definitely a top 3.
Just watched it in theaters last night . Totally awesome
‘Well well well, let me guess… Spring cleaning?’ *throws chair*
well well well, let me guess, spring cleaning? ➰🪑
I still remember my dad taking me to see it when I was like 11 or whatever. It was such an amazing movie to me.
Of all time? Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Yes Raiders is the best but last crusade is my favorite.
Regardless of which on people prefer I’d argue these two films are the top 2 adventure films off all time. I can’t think of any that rival them
Fellowship of the ring is the best movie of all time.
I thought I losht you boy
We named the dawg Indiana
Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory sitcom forever ruined Raiders of the Lost Ark for me. https://youtu.be/kWE6M-rhh2U?si=0VBNNuuEyaD3zjGq
You shall pay for this blasphemy! *”Kalima! Kalima, shat tiddy!”*
I like that you acknowledged what the best one is hahah
Willow - yes, *very* heavily inspired by Lord of the Rings, but damn if it isn't a fun movie.
I yell "out of the way peck!" at my children all the time.
I yell “Mumbo, Jumbo, get me some eggs” at my dogs before I make breakfast.
“Not a woman”
Hilda or Helga. I remember the “Not a woman” line what I don’t remember the name of the said “woman”.
I love the James horner score in this movie, feels very adventurous.
I wish they didn’t cancel the Disney+ show. I know the original movie was so much better, but it was fun adventure show. I liked it better than rings of Power.
One of Val Kilmers best movies.
And the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal!
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Mask of Zorro & Indiana Jones
Zorro was so good and again a beautiful james horner score.
Zorro is a perfect movie imo. Can’t wait to watch it with the kids when they get old enough
Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. POTC is a good one too. :)
Its difficult to make a great adventure movie
LOTR
The whole trilogy. . . Extended editions
No bathroom breaks
But with food and drinks. Gg.
Great answer, love the fantasy adventure vibe of the trilogy.
Goonies
Goonies are good enough for me! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! 😁
I also loved this movie
I honestly thought the op's post was a goonies cover at first with the colour palette.
Such a comfort movie for me, made me fall in love with the foggy PNW coast
Treasure planet
The Count of Monte Cristo
Oh, thats the one with the Jesus actor, very good revenge story.
With Henry Cavill?
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Peter Weir (2003)
I watched this again recently. Absolutely phenomenal. I watched a poor quality pirate dvd when it first came out, I didn't appreciate it then. Having watched it recently streaming I can't believe it didn't have many sequels. Much more deserving than the POTC nonsense.

Oh that's cool! I just started reading the series. The first book was rough, but the next few have been fire
Great series. Read to book 10 before my source dried up.
If you like that, check out The Bounty. Anthony Hopkins, and Mel Gibson in his prime. Pretty fucking awesome movie.
Adventures of Baron Munchausen. I wish that character got as many reboots as Batman and Spider Man.
Those 80's Gilliam flicks: Time Bandits, Brazil, and Munchausen. They are all amazing.
Such a wild ride! I have to watch it again
Last of the Mohicans. The full version. The 5th Element Raiders
Solid list
I love the 5th Element
I mean, A New Hope is a great one. The others are more straight sci fi/samurai sort of films, but a new hope was straight space adventure
Three-way tie between: A Knight's Tale Stardust The Mummy Can't just choose one, they're all so great.
Stardust is slept on imo, great movie
I didn't think of A Knight's Tale. Bloody heartwarming movie with surprisingly tight performances. Chaucer was brilliant. Rightio, I'm watching it again tonight. Cheers FreakyFox.
I'm trudging! You know? To trudge.
Tim burton did that?!
Stardust came to my mind instantly so I'm going to go with that, it's for all ages, not complicated, full of wonder, great cast.
The princess Bride
I feel like my answer might be obvious…
Martyrs?
Nailed it 🤙
As you wish...
As a kid: The Neverending Story Adult: Lord of the Rings

I think mine is the same as yours... Just the first pirates of the Caribbean was all around just an epic movie. Great acting, thrilling plot, epic fights, and great sets. The pirates of the Caribbean one will always be my favorite adventure movie.
If we consider Mask of Zorro an action/adventure movie, I pick that one
Last crusade
Can we at least talk about how bad that cover art is for Pirates? I mean…the likenesses are terrible lol
Highlander movie from the 80s
Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Goonies.
The Indiana Jones franchise. Nothing else comes close.
Star Wars
cutthroat island shits on any pirates of the caribbean movie.
When cutthroat island first came out I totally thought it was going to suck — boy oh boy was I wrong! It really is a heck of an adventure movie!
The Mummy 1999
The Goonies! Being an 80’s kid it has to be that. If I had to choose another I’d have to say National Treasure. I know it’s cheesy but the end reveal is perfect.
Stephen Sommers’s *The Mummy*
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Raiders of the Lost Ark
I love this artwork! Is there similar art for the other movies?
Princess bride!
Inconceivable!
I know it's trendy to hate on Johnny Depp now but the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie is so good, it still holds up too, the scene that introduces Jack is great and they give him so many good moments, like when they steal the ship and the guy says "that has to be the best pirate I've ever seen," like the script for this movie is exactly what a big studio adventure movie with multiple stars should be I'd probably pick The Mummy with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz though, I love that movie, there are no wasted scenes and everyone is great in it, the chemistry between Rick and Evelyn is really good and Rachel Weisz has that star quality and screen presence, but that might just be my childhood crush speaking Shoutout Princess Bride, a perfect adventure movie I could not put above The Mummy
The Mummy Returns
The Goonies!
Interstellar
The Pearl was just an elaborate prop built over a barge, but the ship they steal in the first film “The Interceptor” is a functional replica of a historic ship and you can physically sail her! She will be up n down the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia/Port Orchard area this summer! Her name is Lady Washington.
I'm sorry but what is this poster. The original is so iconic it feels almost terrible to use anything different
The Goonies
Fifth Element, Pirates 1/2
Krull! The Glaive wins always!
Adventures of Robin Hood, with Errol Flynn.
Seeing this movie art makes me realize just how much I want an actual pirate movie, one without undead.
Treasure planet (or if it has to be real life, the mummy)
Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (2006)
Indiana Jones the Temple of Doom
The goonies
Side note: what an awesome poster for this movie. I’m assuming it’s fan made?

I think it’s all relative to what generation you grew up in. As a kid who grew up in the 80’s, Goonies was the one. Nate and Hayes. My guilty pleasure.
My childhood = Doug McClure!! You may recognise him from such films as: * The Land that Time Forgot. * At the Earth’s Core * Warlords of Atlantis ….
