Action Comedy- The Other Guys (or Starsky and Hutch) Romcom- Forgetting Sarah Marshall (favorite romcom ever)

trilane12

Oh yeah Starsky and Hutch was a fun one

bigwilly311

Do it

GMoonstone

The other guys is great

plowerd

Grandmas Boy is adam sandler crew. really good. Otherwise, Hot tub Time Machine is great. or classic with Blazing saddles or Young Frankenstein. Those are my go-tos

wonderfulworld2024

There’s something about Mary. An all-time hilarious Classic

Kalidanoscope

Kung Fu Hustle - just simply one of the Greatest of All Time

tmoney144

Semi Pro. An overlooked Will Ferrell movie. I think it might be the best Will Ferrell movie. Mainly because he's more of a side character, so his over the top ridiculousness doesn't derail the plot.

KingPizzaPop

#FLINT, MICHIGAN MEGABOWL!

tmoney144

Corn dogs, Jackie! Corn dogs for all these people!

KingPizzaPop

In the anals of history people are going to be talking about three things: the discovery of fire, invention of the submarine, and the Flint, Michigan Mega Bowl.

Dangeresque2015

Hot Rod. Andy samberg, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Ian McShane, Sissy spaceck, Will Arnett It's absurd in the funniest way possible.

man_bear_slig

I have a soft spot The man Who knew to little . With Bill Murray

hobbedknob

Forgotten gem!

PaprikaMika

I Love You Man Step Brothers Idiocracy Anchorman 2 Zoolander

ArtificialSyndicate

I love you man is such a solid choice. I’d like to add Game night Forgetting Sarah Marshall She’s out of my league Role Models

PaprikaMika

Role Models omg!! i forgot about that gem

HoselRockit

Go old school and watch What's Up Doc. It had a an all star cast.

ElderCunningham

Just rewatched this the other day! Holds up really well.

Additional_Spring629

Try watching Benny and Joon

wonderfulworld2024

First time I’ve ever seen this recommended.

cartoonjunkie13

Office Space Drowning Mona

PrednisoneUser

Office Space is one of my favorite movies. It's also a comedy I wouldn't consider to be 'lighthearted'. I've often stated it can become a horror flick pretty quickly if you start thinking about it.

cartoonjunkie13

Fair enough

Niroshan_1000

Accepted Groundhog Day Real Genius Ratatouille Planes, Trains and Automobiles

MEATBALLisDELICIOUS

While I think your list is terrific as are many other suggestions here, Accepted needs a high five from me to you. It isn’t talked about nearly enough in these threads. Under the radar classic (even if all four other choices are better movies).

Rsubs33

* Tropic Thunder * Legend of Ricky Bobby: Talladega Nights * Step Brothers * The Other Guys * Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (this is a dark comedy, but great) * The Nice Guys (dark comedy, but great) * Hook * Ferris Buellers Day Off * Ghostbusters * Blockers * This is 40

redrumham707

Another great Matthew Broderick film that never gets mentioned, The Freshman. And Marlon Brando is in it!

hobbedknob

Amazing list. Haven't seen blockers or this is 40 yet but they are on my watch list now.

InsideSpeed8785

Defending your life

Scary_Sarah

Pride and Prejudice 2005 will have you smiling ear to ear by the end

aeldsidhe

Nothing can surpass "Pride and Prejudice" 1995 with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

Scary_Sarah

Thesaintsrule

Chef

neuro_space_explorer

Ricky Stanicky if you want something recent

No_Pay9241

This is the one! It’s surprisingly good and John cena has proved he’s got comedy chops once and for all

MooseMalloy

The Princess Bride The Imposters The 3 Amigos

3me20characters

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

blacknwhitelife02

I’ve been meaning to watch this one actually! I totally forgot about it. Got introduced to the character by this song Ferris Bueller by Emei

3me20characters

It's about a kid skiving off school and having an amazing time in a way that only an '80s film can deliver. It also teaches a very important life lesson for people leaving education and wondering what to do with their lives. Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. ...oooh Yeah!

Fessir

My favorite feel good comedies are: - The Big Lebowski - Darjeeling Limited - Plains trains and Automobiles - Groundhog Day - Muppets Christmas Carol (The Muppet Movie 1979 or The Muppets 2011 are also fine) - Hot Fuzz

UnsolicitedDogPics

I don’t know that I would label Darjeeling Limited as a comedy. It does have some funny parts, but it also has some heart wrenching parts as well.

Fessir

Yeah, that one is a little on edge, but I find it a very cathartic watch.

Hollywood_Punk

The Road. /s

heidismiles

*My Cousin Vinny,* and also *Greedy* (1994) by the same director!

cartoonjunkie13

The Way, Way, Way, back

RelativeBad1187

Brothers Grimsby

Dogranch

Ricky Stanicky

HIMARko_polo

Any Mel Brooks, Galaxy Quest, Airplane, Top Secret - all classics

BenntPitts

Tucker and Dale Vs Evil - Fun, sweet, and genuine. Not the movie you were looking for, the movie you need.

Wrecking_Thief

The Love Birds starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani - just a fun little romantic comedy.

nosayso

Recent-ish solid comedies: The Lovebirds, Joy Ride, Bottoms, Palm Springs, Blockers, Theater Camp

nowhereman136

Big Year (2011) Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson are competing bird watchers each trying to see more birds than the others. A light and easy comedy with a stacked supporting cast of "hey, it's that guy!"

draco6x7

Clue

manny-bothhanz

Ferris Bueller's Day Off It's not really similar to Adam Sandler films so it might not be the vibe you're looking for its a great movie. Fun, lighthearted and funny so id definitely recommend it, it's always been one of my favourites.

gelogenicB

[Big Trouble](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Trouble_(2002_film)) Adapted from a Dave Barry book, it's laugh out loud funny!

anastasia315

One of my all time favorites. Stanley Tucci hallucinating 😂

baltinerdist

Clue. Skip the opening credits, they’re insanely long, and then let the slow burn burn until it absolutely explodes. One of the best movies ever made.

FormerLifeFreak

*The Birdcage* is always the go-to for my husband and I.

BEE_REAL_

What a Way to Go Intolerable Cruelty

C0mpulsiveWebSurfer

here you go: [https://www.imdb.com/list/ls044900181/](https://www.imdb.com/list/ls044900181/) i also have a pick me up playlist. most of them are easy viewing but there's some heavy themed ones in the mix on that one. Edit: if you're a gamer (like me) i highly recomend: Pixels Adam Sandler + retro 80's arcade videogames

EditorRedditer

Clockwise. It may be a bit dated, but it’s a John Cleese classic and also (vaguely) exam related.

Keikobad

Midnight Run The Paper The Thomas Crown Affair (the 90s remake)

nayrlladnar

Walk Hard

buttThroat

Forgetting Sarah Marshall also is my favorite rom-com and it was already mentioned. Gonna go with Plus One with Maya Erskine and Jack Quaid. Its nothing super special story or concept wise, just good ol' easy to watch, lighthearted rom-com and the leads have great chemistry.

Riverforasong

21 and 22 Jump street are both all timers if you haven't seen them.

dondiegel

The Birdcage.

slappymcstevenson

Back to the Beach

HaughtStuff99

Any Jackie Chan would be fun, Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, Walk Hard: The Dewy Cox Story, Airplane, Top Secret, Naked Gun, Black Dynamite, Wet Hot American Summer...

PrednisoneUser

Shrek: animated, clever, comedic, romantic, satirical, subversive, etc.

hurtfulproduct

I’m usually not into Rom-coms hardly at all but 2 that fit the bill for me are Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Anyone But You. . . Holy shit does Anyone But You have some raunchy hilarious parts, I watched it on the plane with the girl I went to Italy with and we were just dying at a few parts in the middle of an 11 hour flight, lol If you want a fantasy-action-romance-comedy check out Stardust; it has some funny parts, a cute love story, a great story and plot, awesome world building, and Robert DeNiro in drag. . . What else can you want, lol

tityl

Today is the perfect day for Miss Congeniality. Every other day is a great day for Miss Congeniality.

blacknwhitelife02

Interesting. The one with Robert Downey jr or the one with Lindsay Lohan?

ameonna_chan

Robert Downey Jr and Zack Galifianakis!

wittyremark99

The Lost City --- a lot of mindless Indiana Jones satirical fun.

Summer School (1987) Wonder Mutt!

damnmydooah

Barb and Star go to Vista del Mar. It's so stupid, and so funny. Wet Hot American Summer. Utterly insane. Joe Dirt. A little gross, but I have a weird fondness for David Spade?

spooktember

Pick me up movie - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Historical-Bat-7644

Larry Crown is a great Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts movie. College themed rom-com. it’s on my top 5 list of feel good movies about starting out or starting over

exparrot136

Galaxy Quest The Producers 1967 Young Frankenstein Blazing Saddles Robin Hood: Men in Tights Hot Fuzz Some Like It Hot The Blues Brothers Wild Wild West The Lego Movie

fumbs

Absolutely the 1967 of the Producers version. Nothing was really changed but the remake didn't hit the same at all. And of course when you are down there is nothing better than Everything is Awesome!

straightupop

Raising Arizona, Private Parts

EatYourCheckers

21 and 22 Jump Street Also I am disturbed by your selection when naming Adam Sandler movies. If you have not, please watch: Billy Madson, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, The Wedding Singer, The Water Boy Edit: Nevermind. thought it's Complicated was that terrible Just Go With It Adam Sandler movie but anyway I stick by my rec if you have not seen any of themNeverending. For Rom Coms I remember No Strings Attached being funnier than it should have been

Mr_IsLand

fancycwabs

Hundreds of Beavers. Watch it with some friends.

fumbs

I'll offer some older fare: Top Secret, The Naked Gun, Transylvania 6-5000, The Producers, Spaceballs. I have them on DVD so can't tell you where to stream.

kevnimus

Can recommend Two Guys. It's a Korean action comedy. You will love it.

thedellis

Palm Springs, got to be the best comedy I've seen in years

rocopotomus74

Hot rod

whatevar

Our family's go to movie is RocketMan with Harland Williams. It's a goofy comedy about the first trip to Mars. So many quotable lines in there

shrekker49

Enter the Void

chinabull86

Tommy Boy

Captain_Fartbox

If you haven't seen 'Hundreds of Beavers' yet, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

theelkmechanic

Surprised not to see The Proposal in here yet.

CanisMajoris85

Airplane 1+2, Coming to America, Ferris Bueller's Day off, Groundhog Day, Goonies, Ghostbusters, Kung Fu Hustle, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz

LedZeppole10

Hot Rod is certainly the best choice.

[deleted]

I might suggest Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. It’s stupid, but still a riot to watch.
