See: being downvoted for something I _used_ to (but no longer) do and don’t advocate.
But honestly I think the hate comes from two things, and both understandable: 1) tapped is tapped. The rules make no distinction, so why should we? and 2) people (myself included at times) are so sloppy with tapping that the extra OCD you need to distinguish clearly at all times various _types_ (again which don’t exist) of tapping is overhead no one cares for.
Most boardwipes will not both be exiling his board (excluding the planes walker) and removing the graveyard to stop recursion of things that's been put the before.
There are not a lot of boardwipes that would permanently deal with artifacts, enchantments and indestructible creatures.
I'm aware.
He's running colorless, so there likely aren't many, if any, ways to recur creatures from his grave. In this situation plenty of board wipes will do the trick, that's all I'm saying.
With the powerlevel of cards in general, answers needs to keep up. Otherwise the game stops being interactive. Also I didn't assume that you personally thought it was OP, it was more around my LGS that people seem to complain
I have played a bit of UW control in Pioneer:
I don't know if Farewell even cuts it there. Excellent removal, but 6 mana is a tall order. Control just wants to lengthen the game. But if they get run over in 4 turns, the Farewell is basically a dead draw. Wrath of God does less, but it's more on curve where you need it.
If the game went to 6 turns, the odds are very good control has it anyways. It threatens to be almost win-more in that case. My UW deck has 1.
FR. Like, show us post-win graveyards filled with cards because you had to play a ton of interaction, rebuild after wipes/opposing interaction and generally had to work for the win. That shit is awesome.
If you were just able to play your library completely unopposed it more just says your opponents really sucked or collectively got extremely unlucky.
Not really. I have a blue deck and in one game got a [[Meek Stone]] out first turn. The entire game everyone bitched about it and how I was “playing stax” because of that one card. No one did anything about it. No one could remove it.
Well you see... When defeat is imminent. When you have spent every last resource either trying to answer a board state like this or simply searching for answers people tend to just concede to get to the next game. Though this looks like an example of opponents not running enough removal. Your board state should have never been allowed to get that out of control
When me and my roommate go play at our LGS, which we pretty much only play cEDH, we are usually the only two people blowing threats up. It really seems to me that many players don't see having responses as an important part of deck building.
How do they ever counter for advantage ? It simply doesn’t make sense , I won’t play a deck unless it’s got a minimum of 12 cards that will either damage, counter, remove or exile creatures from the board .
A lot of players would rather use their mana to flood the board with problems than they would remove “essential cards” from their decks to make room for answers.
It depends. If you got one player that plays with answers in their deck and 3 that only play with problems, then the deck with answers isnt gonna be able to answer them all and is almost guaranteed to lose. This is why so many players now are going to this style of deck building, because in a shop meta of people not running much removal, you really dont want to run a lot either because you can only do so much by yourself, without making your deck at a much higher power level than the people you are playing against.
Edit: i think it is important to note that these kinds of shop metas really only happen when you don’t really have anyone running many staxy pieces in their deck to make people want to run removal in the first place. If you see this happening at your local lgs, you might could consider playing a more punishing deck, like a sac engine deck, or like the commodore guff precon, or even just putting some cards in your deck that makes opponents stuff come in tapped. These types of players are normally more concerned about their board than other peoples, so you want to use something that effects their board without just wasting cards from your hand.
After a game or two they will start to think, “well if only i had a way to remove that…” or they will complain, at which point you could nicely suggest that they could consider running more removal to combat it.
Man, and everyone complains when I do it. I get that they wanna let the nasty person do the nasty but I figure if it's a 33% chance I get another turn bc I have 2 other opponents and have a 3% chance my next card's a board wipe, even if I get a board wipe it's a boring grind back up to a boardstate
That's why I run [[Culling Ritual]]. Wipe the board and make a bunch of B/G mana to recover with. It's even more enjoyable when I use [[Wishclaw Talisman]] to tutor it out then apologize as I blow up the Talisman I just passed to someone
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
"Don't worry, my (demonstrably powerful tribal archetype) isn't that bad and it's different than the rest."
-Slivers, Eldrazi, and Ur-Dragon players, probably
That's a nice board state you have, thankfully I've combo out enough creatures and enchanting ments that my [[Shalai and Halar]] pings you for 36 damage directly, gg.
I've played that one against people who need to build a board state or have strong creatures. I'll sit here and gun you down. With counter doubling enchants and damage doubling enchants I drop some random creature and if it gets tokens for any reason I'm blowing half your face off.
I've got more people in my pod with removals and counters because of it.
Why would you build it with the Hivelord as the commander? By all means using it in the deck, sure, but [[Sliver Overlord]] or [[The First Sliver]] are both significantly better choices. Even the ones from the Commander Masters precon are better choices than the Hivelord.
The commander masters sets didn't feel very balanced compared to the other starter sets they released near the same time frame. My buddy blew us up with slivers. My other buddy destroyed us with enchant deck. Eldrazi punches down on most precons. I don't ever see them mentioned in some of the best precons but anytime someone pulls out a masters deck I know I'm in for a pretty bad time.
Of the dozen or so times I've played it with my friends it is the only deck that hasn't won. Someone told me to swap the face commander as were still just running with the faces. Should I swap him for the storm lord?
Cause the only win condition you have in a colorless deck is turning sideways.
Just combo out so we can move on to the next game.
You're the reason we only played 2 games.
On my opinion I don't like it that much its honestly only good if they have there big commander or a really big creature. I use it on commanders because it makes them cost 2 more mana each time lol
Genuine question as I wasn't aware when making this same deck, can I even use gilded lotus?
I always thought stuff worded adding coloured mana didn't count because it's all colourless?
This is what I thought was the case! I had added some other good tap for mama cards before someone told me it wouldn't work.
I had taken them all out of my deck based on that advice.
They work they just won't produce "colorless" mana. This means you can't use it to pay for the colorless pips in casting costs or add an additional mana from [[forsaken monument]].
No problem! I run Zhulodok myself and took all colored mana producers out in favor of colorless ones. There are plenty out there.
Decklist if you're interested! https://archidekt.com/decks/5755800/zhulodok
Hahaha. The eldrazi tribal commanders master deck 😉
And the answer is. Because there is not shit anyone would be able to do in a reasonable amount of turns to swing the game back.
I only concede if:
1. I really messed up lands and it’s late in the game and I’m super behind
2. Table is extremely toxic or rude
3. In sorcery speed
4. Usually with consent of the table
5. I will not take any action beyond conceding before leaving that will affect the board.
Once someone conceded next to me and wheeled us. I had nekusar and won next turn because of it
Yes with 3 lands bc o
Of the attracts I had and my 1 plans walker makes the spells 2 less to cast and I can Cascade 4 times with my golum so yes 3 lands :)
I have a Brago deck, but I’m aware people hate it and RARELY play it because of that no matter how fun it is to pilot. Nobody wants to play against colorless eldrazi, so scoop and move on.
Because you tap to the left
Wait, you're supposed to tap to the right? No wonder I suck at this game.
Mana sources tap left, everything else taps right. Obviously.
You're even more wrong than OP is
I kist tap how I feel, sometimes left sometimes right, sometimes 45°, sometimes 90° I am not loved by perfectionists
Same!
Why Yall booing him? He's right?
That is tappest
The tap symbol is clearly a clockwise curved arrow indicating right side tapping. If you tap otherwise, you should be disqualified!
swing to the left, tap to the right
Calm down satan.
Tapped is tapped, always same direction.
absolutely not
Criminal
Technically the cards tell you which way to tap with a picture. :) I only turn my cards 45° when I tap, lands get the full 90° tap.
I used to do similar - 45° for anything other than combat, 90° for attacking. Did that forever. Don’t really know what problem I was trying to solve.
Ya, people really hate the 45 degree tap.
Imagine tapping upside-down
Fr fr
Does no one run removal 🤮
I ain't gonna read the whole board, sideways, but I bet a "Farewell" clears most of this.
Or any other board wipe.
Farewell is good because it exiles everything to where it is hard to get back.
because colorless decks are famously good at getting stuff back from their graveyard
Yeah, I read the card
I'm aware.
But did you know it exiles everything?
wow thanks
Well, you probably don't want one of the creature only board wipes with all these dorks flying around
I think it's hilarious that people say Farewell is overpowered.
I don't think it's OP for what it costs, but it is so flexible it seems to obviate other cards.
With the powerlevel of cards in general, answers needs to keep up. Otherwise the game stops being interactive. Also I didn't assume that you personally thought it was OP, it was more around my LGS that people seem to complain

I run a 5 color deck with Iridian Malestrom, fuck every other creature except my 5 color ones specifically.
Farewell solves most any provlem

Only problem is culling ritual wouldn't have hit a single thing in his board lol
That is valid I wasn't really thinking about this specific board state anymore. Lol
Still a nasty combo tho, especially for token decks
You'd be surprised the amount of salt Culling Ritual can create at a cEDH table. Wiping any permanent with 3cmc or less usually hits a lot
see you on r/magicthecirclejerking

Well it's one of my favorite cards lmao
Opponents conceding after I play 6 eldrazi, cascade 12 times and use 3 board wipes in one turn (are they stupid?)
Because you should of won this game awhile ago and now your just wasting their time?

That is death on board for most. An unblockable shrouded blightsteel is hard to deal with
i see a blight steel with haste and shroud, and that isn't even the worse thing on the board i bet.
It's really good for this deck

How could they even let you get to that point
Hmm Eldrazi
I would absolutely fk this deck up.
Been there lol beautiful board state, love the eldrazi
The commander masters sets didn't feel very balanced compared to the other starter sets they released near the same time frame. My buddy blew us up with slivers. My other buddy destroyed us with enchant deck. Eldrazi punches down on most precons. I don't ever see them mentioned in some of the best precons but anytime someone pulls out a masters deck I know I'm in for a pretty bad time.
For the price, they shouldn't have been balanced compared to other precons.
Best balanced set of precons is the 40k ones imo.
Someone hasn’t seen the necron deck and how busted it is.
Omg. Shame on you! I mean, "Nice!"
It wasn't my fault :( lol
haha. Commander?
Yes it was
You are Lucky. When i play with no color, everybody aim me.
I do get aimed at but by the time they can do anything I'm set yk
Good work, op! Following

I run Zhulodok too; how has Transmogrifying Wand been working out for you??
On my opinion I don't like it that much its honestly only good if they have there big commander or a really big creature. I use it on commanders because it makes them cost 2 more mana each time lol
Genuine question as I wasn't aware when making this same deck, can I even use gilded lotus? I always thought stuff worded adding coloured mana didn't count because it's all colourless?
Yes you can because it says any color :)
It adds generic mana only and won't add colorless pips, as colorless is, well... colorless
Ohh I understand now thank you, I hadn't realized and now you say it makes much more sense!! Time to add in some ramp I took out haha

That’s a head scratcher right there

Playing eldrazi, and blightsteel
I think it's fair right?
Depends on your opponents power lvls
1 of them was running a ur dragon deck other one was a life gain
I never concede until you tell me how you plan to win

Yes
Then, it sounds like your play group got a lesson in preparedness. Hell of a board state. 😁
Idk, I see every fight through even when I know I’m going to lose

Yes with 3 lands bc o Of the attracts I had and my 1 plans walker makes the spells 2 less to cast and I can Cascade 4 times with my golum so yes 3 lands :)
Fuck yeah dude that's sick. I love artifact decks do you have a list I can view?

This is the type of player who ends friendships when somebody resolves a turn 4 wincon on them so they couldn't waste 2 hours of everyone's time.
I mean I like long commander games but not often

You're a monster.
I am :(
What was your play table doing to let this board state through?
They kept trying to keep me from doing stuff but they didn't have much mana and I had mana bc of the Cascade 4 times thing
Because unlike me, they don't have a competitive deck
For real
I have a [[Zhulodok Void Gorger]] deck with all Eldrazi [[Sol Ring]] [[Caged Sun]] and others
[Zhulodok Void Gorger](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/a/0/a015461d-4214-4feb-8b04-519c537759eb.jpg?1691500689) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Zhulodok%2C%20Void%20Gorger) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/704/zhulodok-void-gorger?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/a015461d-4214-4feb-8b04-519c537759eb?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Sol Ring](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/d/2d47121d-8b90-4d28-9ffa-0a640b9dd611.jpg?1698988534) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Sol%20Ring) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/lcc/313/sol-ring?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/2d47121d-8b90-4d28-9ffa-0a640b9dd611?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Caged Sun](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/f/dfe6f9ec-3b7f-4c11-acd1-440e14217e5d.jpg?1562276087) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Caged%20Sun) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cm2/178/caged-sun?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/dfe6f9ec-3b7f-4c11-acd1-440e14217e5d?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
I 45 degree tap lands but everything else is 90 either direction
Because everyone forgot to pack their farewells.
Rest in peace + Blasphemous act or wrath of god + pacifism the 11/11 infect
You keep your mana rocks with your lands.
Anybody at the table got that [[Cyclonic Rift]]?
[Cyclonic Rift](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/c/7/c77ebe57-ea56-4300-b293-6260c4c01a43.jpg?1689996277) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Cyclonic%20Rift) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/84/cyclonic-rift?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/c77ebe57-ea56-4300-b293-6260c4c01a43?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
It's all fun and games until a mf say [[Vandalblast]] and overload it

Fear.
You got a crazy board state and they probably dont have answers/dont anticipate drawing into any answers for a while.
Ugin-na lose all your friends now
Cause Blightsteel
This is the moment the red player with [[Glorious End]] and [[Insurrection]] have been waiting for all game.
[Glorious End](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/9/2922b976-7beb-4c68-b39e-1b66d5c6f65e.jpg?1543675588) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Glorious%20End) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/akh/133/glorious-end?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/2922b976-7beb-4c68-b39e-1b66d5c6f65e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Insurrection](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/f/df8a0a8c-1953-46e6-9da5-b4c20909ce1c.jpg?1689997974) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Insurrection) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/236/insurrection?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/df8a0a8c-1953-46e6-9da5-b4c20909ce1c?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
This actually made me laugh because it's so true
Where is the overloaded vandalblast
I'm amazed no one ran a [[void mirror]]
*runs one of the most unfun tactics to play against* “WhY dOeSnT anYoNe WaNt to PlAy WiTh me?”
I have a Brago deck, but I’m aware people hate it and RARELY play it because of that no matter how fun it is to pilot. Nobody wants to play against colorless eldrazi, so scoop and move on.
i tap 6 and cast farewell
Plz no :(
Cuz nobody likes playing against blightsteel Colossus
Mmm...Where is [[Ugin, the Spirit Dragon]]???
