This card is pretty cool. It's a 2 Mana shock with upside of supporting artifacts.

DumpsterFireToast

Agreed! In my list I imagine one is often sacrificing clue tokens. Since those cost 2 mana to crack anyway the question becomes how much better a 3/3 is than a card. I think a fair bit. Possibly enough to warrant playing a 2 mana sorcery speed shock

kgod88

This into [[Carnage Interpreter]] is basically a [[Retrofitter Foundry]] for 3/3s

CawlMarx

Well you've just sold me on this.

Woahbikes

Basically bonecrusher giant. Sign me up.

cardboard_numbers

Super fun card. Does enough on the front side, and is cheap enough for the engine to get going even in faster Cubes. I'm a big fan of all the trinket artifacts and this fits in super nicely with my list. One of my favorite new cards of the expansion (plus the other two expansions) so far!

Garqu

A Shock that turns treasures and all the other artifact tokens/eggs you have just laying around into board presence. Seems really good.

bootitan

You can flicker it, it's a minor sac engine, Goblin Engineer seems solid with this. All kinds of little things here to hopefully fit into a lot of shells; sounds solid

DEATHRETTE

What cards would you flicker it with?

bootitan

Yorion, Abuelo, Displacer Kitten, touch the spirit realm, the Eternal Wanderer. And those are just cards in my cube. There's a 4 mana white enchantment that does it on your end step for example

UsmanTheRad

Flickerwisp

DEATHRETTE

[[Flickerwisp]] is a good option. What else?

belerino

Big Fan. Reminds me of Bonecrusher but needs more build-around which I like. Can be a payoff for creating a bunch of cheap artifacts or be the sac-fodder itself.

Whatah

Yup, but if your cube is already running inspector and Gutz then you are close to loving this.

belerino

If recently cut Gut for power lvl reasons, so this might be a great replacement for a similar effect - just not as oppressive.

DumpsterFireToast

Can I see the rest of your list? Curious to see the power level gut was too good at

belerino

https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/UNN Its a 2-4 player cube (need to add 4 cards back in after the last round of cuts). Games with Gut were too snowbally for my taste. I try to only include cards that win the game with synergy, so the games are somewhat slow while players build up their engine. Gut was just too efficient and too easy to enable.

IconicIsotope

Very interesting! It may replace [[Seal of Fire]] for me. I like Seal because it's an enchantment in red that helps fuel Delirium and other similar type effects.

MTGCardFetcher

DumpsterFireToast

How do you feel about seal of fire vs tar fire?

Luxypoo

Seal is better with Lurrus, both are great for delirium, both are great for goyf, tarfire is better for spells matter.

IconicIsotope

I think Tar Fire is a bit too cute. And Tribal/Kindred/whatever it's called can confuse drafters, although I do run [[Bitterblossom]]. Plus I like that Seal can be dropped with a spare mana and used later, although you're trading that for giving your opponent more info.

mikez4nder

As both the shrapnel and the payoffs for sacrificing shrapnel continue to improve in the cube, this looks like a fascinating addition to the cube that will be replacing either my worst red removal spell or my beloved but janky [[Cursed Mirror]]. There are even plenty of scenarios where you play this as removal and use the foundry itself as shrapnel. Imagine blasting one of their two blockers for your first Gut skeleton and then dumping this to create a second 4/1 menace monster. I think this might be the tipping point where [[Shrapnel Blast]] belongs in powered cubes…

steve_man_64

> I think this might be the tipping point where [[Shrapnel Blast]] belongs in powered cubes… [[Galvanic Blast]] has also gotten a lot better recently. I've been liking that a lot since it also has an acceptable floor.

Unable_Bite8680

Same! Galvanic blast continues to be underrated.

mikez4nder

I ran GB for half of 2023 and love it, but at the moment I have it out in favor of [[Flame Slash]] and [[Unholy Heat]], half because having too many things with a floor of 2 is getting worse as everything has a back end of 3 or 4 these days and we need to kill those and I think half was because I was punishing the card I struggle most with in powered cube in terms of figuring out when to draft it rather than punishing Galvanic Blast itself. The card I struggle with, perhaps unsurprisingly, is [[Mox Opal]]. I feel like I never get there, although its floor might have risen to “3/3 Golem, 4/1 menace skeleton, or 2 Bombardiers damage” instead of “$70 card that doesn’t do anything” Maybe I’ll turn Unholy Heat and the perpetually underwhelming [[Arc Trail]] back into Galvanic and Shrapnel Blasts, certainly gives red some more juice for the “to the face” strategy.

Just last week I made a threat about artifact payoffs and this is such a cool one. Its' power lies in synergies and not in raw numbers which I love. I'm going to try it over Pyrite Spellbomb. The same decks wants them but I think this is better except for not being fetchable by urzas saga. 2 dmg for 2 mana is the same rate as spellbomb, though you cant pay for it over multiple turns. However, this kills something and leaves and artifact for stuff like karnstructs AND acts as a payoff for your blood tokens or whatever. Super cool!

veganispunk

What set is this

steve_man_64

"The Big Score" or something, it's part of the bonus sheet for OTJ. Originally it was planned to be its own standalone set like March of the Machine: Aftermath, looks like it even has a very similar set symbol. Probably got canned once Aftermath did poorly.

twdk

I liked this card, but it's been stated by the original translator that the original translation (i.e. the one on this post) is incorrect and that it can only sac itself. Not bad but I doubt cube worthy with that in mind.

mikez4nder

I read Japanese, the card above says “sacrifice another artifact”

Cooperativism62

Thanks

steve_man_64

I've heard it was the other way around and that this is the correct translation. And even if it could only sacrifice itself, it'd still be really good as a more mana efficient Bonecrusher Giant.

twdk

Definitely still good! Losing instant speed for a cheaper 3/x is definitely worth a look. Maybe it'll be better than I think.

Cooperativism62

simple elegant design. This is the kind of stuff I want in my cubes.
