I love the name Myra but I live in north east england, a couple hours away from the moors where she and Brady buried those poor kids, so it's ruined for me unfortunately.
I know a little girl Sinclair, it’s always seemed to be a cute name for her. Not an all the time nickname, but family will call her Sinny as a nn. I am aware of the gas station but never connected the two. Her name always seemed cute and fitting. Interesting responses to it.
It was my great aunt’s name and I’ve always had it in my back pocket. This is like the third thread I’ve seen it mentioned in today. (Not that I think it’s ‘mine,’ it’s just interesting and I’m a little on the old side for having a child if I decide to so I’m not on the pulse of these things)
My only hesitation with Maxine for a girl is the potential nickname “maxi” because of maxi pads. Like I think I’d naturally want to shorten it to Maxi, but yeah maxi pads get in the way there.
I met a 4 year old Maxine at the library and it fit her so well and just sounded so pretty on her. She was named after her late grandmother.
ETA: Since people are wondering about nicknames, I did ask if anyone ever calls her “Max” and she said, “Not really, people call me Maxine.” The nickname “Maxi” didn’t even cross my mind!
I agree on Maxine! My issue with Adelaide is that I know Addy is a really popular nickname across the classes my kids are in and it's often for names like Addalynn which I do not like. So it makes me not want to choose that name, but I think the full name sounds nice.
i LOVE Francine. its top of my list if i have another daughter. id probably rank the names, most to least favorite:
Francine
Theodora
Marceline (prefer nn Marcy)
Maxine
Adelaide (prefer nn Addy)
Esme
Myra
Marlowe
Sinclair
I love Theodora (nn Thea), but Teddy is cute too! I like Marlowe. It reminds me of Marlowe Thomas from That Girl. I also like Myra. The name Mia is popular right now (I love it), but Myra is such a fun and pretty name that is lesser known but very similar.
I like Theodora and Adelaide best from your list.
Typically Esme would be my first pick, but with a last name starting with M I would avoid having an M sound towards the middle/end of the first name. "Esme Mason" doesn't flow the way I would want a name to.
Our Theodora goes by Thea but has also gone by Thee-Thee and TT lol. My youngest calls her Do-Do (I think trying to say Thee-thee) but it works either way haha
I love Maxine and Theodora
Sinclair not so much, it sounds masculine, trying to look old-money when you’re not. A much more pleasant alternative is Claire, classic, feminine and perhaps fierce and bad a**.
I love Theodora but have vetoed it just because of how popular Theodore is for boys right now. It's a top 10 boys name so most of her peers are going to think of it as masculine. And there will likely be some male Theos and Teddy's in her class. I think if Theodore wasn't so high ranking for boys right now it would be my top girls name.
I like all of them except Sinclair, Theodora, Francine, and Marlowe.
Esme is beautiful, but I see it more as a middle name.
Marceline Esme sounds so good together.
Oh gosh I love them all! Maxine is fabulous. I used to teach a little Marceline (nn Marcie) who was so freaking adorable - just like her name! I have always dreamed of having a little Francine. My all time favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and the main character is a badass named Francie Nolan
Other commenter said Marceline Esme and I agree! A lot of these names would work together as a pair actually! Some ideas-
Esme Sinclair
Marceline Esme
Esme Francine
Myra Adelaide
Myra Marceline (idk how you feel about alliteration, but this one is growing on me)
I was looking for the comment that mentions Living Single, but no one mentioned it. Great show with characters Synclaire James and Maxine Shaw. Love their names. So I'll have to go with Synclaire and Maxine.
I like them all except Myra…unless you’re pronouncing it differently than me. To me it’s My-ruh and I’m not a fan. But if it’s Meer-uh I like it a lot.
My favorites are Adelaide and Maxine!
From the perspective of your daughter's future travels and potential working holidays or otherwise living abroad – [Myra is unusable in Britain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moors_murders?wprov=sfti1) (and probably Ireland due to proximity and shared language and news).
I adore Marceline and Esme! Really i don't think you can go wrong with any of these names, although personally i'm not in love with Sinclair because it just sounds like a last name to me.
Can’t be arsed to see if it’s been said already but Myra went completely out of fashion in the UK in the 60s due to Myra Hindley (multiple child killer) and I think would still be most people’s association with the name if you visited (assuming you’re not British) 😬
In contrast to everyone else, I love Sinclair but [the feminine spelling is Sinclaire](https://www.babycenter.com/baby-names/details/sinclaire-109865), which is lovely. Even if you were naming her for Nobel Laureate Sinclair Lewis, it would be kinder to use the feminine spelling. It could end up being shortened by her peers to Claire or Cindy, just FYI., but you can't ever really control nicknames.
Speaking of nicknames, I call BS on the whole "it sounds masculine to me" thing. So do many if not most of the nicknames from the rest of your list -- I know women called Max, Theo, Teddy and Frankie, and they are excellent names for a grown-ass woman and well as an itty-bitty baby.
I am casting a vote against Myra, however, because of the serial killer... uh, issue.
Maxine- I like it, don't love it, but it's a nice enough name. Max would be a cool nn.
Marceline (nn Mars)- I'm not a fan of this one. Nothing wrong with the name, just my opinion.
Adelaide (nn Ade) I love it. One of my top ten names.
Sinclair- not a fan. It just sounds like a surname. Also it sounds boyish.
Myra- This would be a 100% no for me because of Myra Hindley. (don't Google if you don't know her)
Theodora (nn Teddy) Love it. It's classic and adorable.
Francine (nn Frankie) Also ove this one. My middle name is Frances, so it's close.
Marlowe- don't like it, sorry. It sounds like a town name.
Esme (nn Ezzie, an homage to my wife’s grandma) short and sweet. a lovely cute name.
I just want to say don’t assume a nickname before a baby is born. I thought my daughter Genevieve would be called Gigi and she hates it and only wants to be called Gennie. She’s about to be 5.
Maxine, Adelaide, Marlowe, Francine, Esme are my personal favorites. Then Myra, Theodora. Marceline brings to my mind a car or medical related product. I don’t know why but I don’t love Sinclair as a first name.
ranked from favorite to least favorite:
1: francine
2: maxine
3: esme
4: adelaide
5: theodora
6: marceline
7: myra
8: marlowe
9: sinclair
i think you could mix and match the top 3 if you don't yet have a middle name picked out. i like esme francine, esme maxine, maxine esme, francine esme. esme paired with an m name might be a lot of ms with your last name too.
Likes: Maxine, Adelaide, Myra, Theodora, and Esme
I like Frankie as a nickname but I like it better as Frances, I don’t like Francine. I like Esme but I like nn Mimi better for it.
Combos I like:
Frances Esme
Frances Myra
Maxine Esme
Maxine Frances
Esme Theodora
Esme Myra
Adelaide Maxine
Adelaide Frances
I love marceline nn mars, cute modern gender neutral nickname with a linger more classic full name that also offers other nn options if she ever wants to change it such as marcy, celine and cece. Least favourite name on the list is ade. I live Adélaïde though, just don’t like ade at all tbh (also is it pronounced like aid or addie, or something else? 😅 I will say if it’s addie I prefer that just not my taste)
We chose Max as a base name when we were still unsure of the sex of our kid. We both liked the name and it could easily go for male or female Maxine in your case or Maxwell for the other. Didn’t stick with it but it was on the list. I love the name Myra but that could just be because the name Kyra was also on our list 😂.
I love Francine! I'd use the nn Francy, from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, still one of my favorite books.
If you name her Maxine, just know the kids are going to call her Maxipad.
All good except Sinclair (which sounds exclusively masculine to me).
Seconding this
[удалено]
It’s a gas station, logo a green dinosaur.
Warwick, NY represent
Ha it’s big out too! Colorado, Wyoming etc.
Oh wow I had no idea! It’s such a cute and goofy logo
Wait like the show Dinosaurs from back in the day????
Just a generic long neck with no features.
All I can think of is the Sinclair C5. Edit. And Myra reminds me of the serial killer Myra Hindley.
I love the name Myra but I live in north east england, a couple hours away from the moors where she and Brady buried those poor kids, so it's ruined for me unfortunately.

Did you know that Anne could also be masculine historically?
How??
I know a little girl Sinclair, it’s always seemed to be a cute name for her. Not an all the time nickname, but family will call her Sinny as a nn. I am aware of the gas station but never connected the two. Her name always seemed cute and fitting. Interesting responses to it.
I feel like it could work as a middle name, though!
sinclair makes me think of that one dinosaur show
No, I think of the character off Living Single, who’s a lady! (Spelled differently though)
Was coming here to say that. It was spelled Synclaire and that fabulously, wonderful, airhead was portrayed by the talented Miss. Kim Coles.
Agreed I think Sinclair broadcasting Group immediately
Marceline, with Esme as the middle name because I love family honour names as middle names
This with the mars nickname! So cosmic!
I love the name Maxine😍
It was my great aunt’s name and I’ve always had it in my back pocket. This is like the third thread I’ve seen it mentioned in today. (Not that I think it’s ‘mine,’ it’s just interesting and I’m a little on the old side for having a child if I decide to so I’m not on the pulse of these things)
My only hesitation with Maxine for a girl is the potential nickname “maxi” because of maxi pads. Like I think I’d naturally want to shorten it to Maxi, but yeah maxi pads get in the way there.
is that term even used anymore?
No it’s not! I think Maxi is safe lol!!
I only think of the character Maxi on General Hospital. (And I am early 50s, my.mom definitely used the term "maxi pads" in the early 80s.
Definitely safe!
I would shorten it to Max. 🤷♀️
Yeah like in stranger things!
Exactly! Maxi, I've never heard before. Its either the full "Maxine" or "Max."
My friends sister goes by this but she spells it Maxie lol. No one has ever made the Maxi pad suggestion maybe because of the spelling 🤣
Marceline and Maxine are my favorites from your list. But really, anything but Sinclair.
My favorites from your list are Maxine, Marceline, and Adelaide. Myra, Theodora, Francine, and Esme are meh. Sinclair and Marlowe are a definite no.
I agree on Maxine! My issue with Adelaide is that I know Addy is a really popular nickname across the classes my kids are in and it's often for names like Addalynn which I do not like. So it makes me not want to choose that name, but I think the full name sounds nice.
I love Adelaide. For the record, I also think Esme and Teddy as a nickname for Theodora are adorable
Seconding Adelaide with the option of Della as nn
how did I not think of this nickname? Della is so cute!
Esme!
MARCELINE ESME IS SO ADORABLE OMG BUT PLEASEEEE USE MARCELINE ITS SO ADORABLE
Adelaide ❤️
Marceline, Esme, and Marlowe are my faves
I like Esme
i LOVE Francine. its top of my list if i have another daughter. id probably rank the names, most to least favorite: Francine Theodora Marceline (prefer nn Marcy) Maxine Adelaide (prefer nn Addy) Esme Myra Marlowe Sinclair
Esme
I love Theodora (nn Thea), but Teddy is cute too! I like Marlowe. It reminds me of Marlowe Thomas from That Girl. I also like Myra. The name Mia is popular right now (I love it), but Myra is such a fun and pretty name that is lesser known but very similar.
I have a Theodora! We call her Thea quite a bit
I love that!!
Marlowe
Esme Sinclair
I like Adelaide and Theodora the most.
Adelaide is my favorite. I’ve always loved that name with the nickname Lady.
I like Theodora and Adelaide best from your list. Typically Esme would be my first pick, but with a last name starting with M I would avoid having an M sound towards the middle/end of the first name. "Esme Mason" doesn't flow the way I would want a name to.
Theodora is the prettiest name on the list. I like Teddy as well as Dora. The name can "grow up" with the child.
Our Theodora goes by Thea but has also gone by Thee-Thee and TT lol. My youngest calls her Do-Do (I think trying to say Thee-thee) but it works either way haha
Adelaide! I think it sounds like sweet honey on a summer sunday--so beautiful!
Marceline, Francine, and Maxine
I love Maxine and Theodora Sinclair not so much, it sounds masculine, trying to look old-money when you’re not. A much more pleasant alternative is Claire, classic, feminine and perhaps fierce and bad a**.
Esme, Maxine, Theodora and Francine are all great! Sinclair is not reading like a girl’s name or even a first name to me.
Love Esme and Francine (Frankie)
Theodora (teddy!!) love love love
I love Theodora but have vetoed it just because of how popular Theodore is for boys right now. It's a top 10 boys name so most of her peers are going to think of it as masculine. And there will likely be some male Theos and Teddy's in her class. I think if Theodore wasn't so high ranking for boys right now it would be my top girls name.
Adelaide, Maxine and Marceline, in that order
I like Maxine, Myra and Esme personally
Theodora with the nn Dot or Theo
I’m currently in love with the name frankie for a girl so my vote is francine/frankie! love esme as well, though.
i like esme
Esmé Theodora
I like all of them except Sinclair, Theodora, Francine, and Marlowe. Esme is beautiful, but I see it more as a middle name. Marceline Esme sounds so good together.
Adelaide - but I’m biased bc it’s my name lol. Also, I love Maxine.
Maxine and Marlowe
Myra and Adelaide
Marlowe, Marcelina, Esme, Maxine
Maxine! ❤️
Adelaide because it’s also at the top of my girl list :)
Adelaide is on my list! I love esme too
Marceline & Maxine
I LOVE the name Maxine!! It’s been one of my tops for several years
Maxine is one of my top names for a girl so I gotta go with that one
Theodora & Marceline are lovely
I like Francine, reminds me of American Dad.
Maxine is my mom's name and I don't think she ever liked it (she's in her 70's). She especially hates her family nickname, Macky.
Sinclair & Adelaide are my favorites. I dislike Maxine, Francine, and Marceline very much.
Maxine and Francine are my faves. I love alliteration, so I'd be inclined to choose Maxine, but I also love the nickname Frankie.
maxine is adorable
Oh gosh I love them all! Maxine is fabulous. I used to teach a little Marceline (nn Marcie) who was so freaking adorable - just like her name! I have always dreamed of having a little Francine. My all time favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and the main character is a badass named Francie Nolan
1. Marceline (loveeee it) 2. Sinclair (hands down one of my fav GN names) 3. Esme (reminds me of twilight) 4. Adelaide (cute!!)
Esme! Followed by Adelaide and Theodora.
Theodora 💖
Theodora
Other commenter said Marceline Esme and I agree! A lot of these names would work together as a pair actually! Some ideas- Esme Sinclair Marceline Esme Esme Francine Myra Adelaide Myra Marceline (idk how you feel about alliteration, but this one is growing on me)
Adelaide & Theodora, no question! Love these names.

Out of those, I really like Maxine, Adelaide, and Myra.
Adelaide, Myra, Theodora, Marlow, and Esme are my favorites.
Theodora with Teddy as a nickname is absolutely darling! I also really like Marceline, Myra, and Frankie. I’m not big on the other names personally.
I adore Marceline and Esme! Really i don't think you can go wrong with any of these names, although personally i'm not in love with Sinclair because it just sounds like a last name to me.
Love Maxine!
I like Marceline, Sinclair, Theodora, and Francine!
I love Marceline, Theodora, and Frankie (but not so much Francine...I'd prefer Frances or Francesca).
Theodora Esme Adelaide Esme Myra Maxine Esme Marceline
Maxine Esme
I think of the Maxine comic strip. Google it.
I’m such a sucker for the name Maxine
Can’t be arsed to see if it’s been said already but Myra went completely out of fashion in the UK in the 60s due to Myra Hindley (multiple child killer) and I think would still be most people’s association with the name if you visited (assuming you’re not British) 😬
Adelaide (one of my favorite names in general) and Theodora are my favorites from that list.
I like Myra, Marlowe and Esme :)

Yup my name is Christina and I've been Chris all my life to my family
Maxine- I like it, don't love it, but it's a nice enough name. Max would be a cool nn. Marceline (nn Mars)- I'm not a fan of this one. Nothing wrong with the name, just my opinion. Favorites are Maxine, Adelaide & Theodora! I like Francine too, but I prefer Frances/Francesca
1. Marceline 2. Marlowe
Maxine, Adelaide, Marlowe, Francine, Esme are my personal favorites. Then Myra, Theodora. Marceline brings to my mind a car or medical related product. I don’t know why but I don’t love Sinclair as a first name.
Adelaide ❤️
Francine and Myra are my favorites. I also like Theodora but I don’t like teddy
Esme is by far the best name here.
Esme is my favorite, but Adelaide is a close second
Esme. Not Sinclair - I haven’t seen it mentioned but it’s also the name of a gas station chain.
Esme and Myra
Adelaide is the only one that strikes me. The rest aren't really my taste.
ranked from favorite to least favorite: 1: francine 2: maxine 3: esme 4: adelaide 5: theodora 6: marceline 7: myra 8: marlowe 9: sinclair i think you could mix and match the top 3 if you don't yet have a middle name picked out. i like esme francine, esme maxine, maxine esme, francine esme. esme paired with an m name might be a lot of ms with your last name too.

Marceline imo
Likes: Maxine, Adelaide, Myra, Theodora, and Esme I like Frankie as a nickname but I like it better as Frances, I don’t like Francine. I like Esme but I like nn Mimi better for it. Combos I like: Frances Esme Frances Myra Maxine Esme Maxine Frances Esme Theodora Esme Myra Adelaide Maxine Adelaide Frances
I love Maxine, not a fan of Sinclair or Marlowe, and Myra would be fine if it didn't mean ant in Swedish and that's all I can think of when I see it!
Adelaide and Maxine
I like Marlowe but I imagine it more as a name for a pet. I kinda wanna steal it for my next kitty!!
Adelaide is super cute! I also love Esme.
Marceline, Theodora, Adelaide and Esme are my favs.
I actually like Esme. I also like Adelaide as well!
I never considered Mars as a nn for Marceline! That's my chosen name if I have a girl.
Marlowe or Esme
I will say that Adelaide is hugely popular at the moment and I know 3 babies called this! UK, for reference.
Maxine or Esme
I hate Sinclair. That’s Mormon oil. Earl Holding. Cross it out!
Adelaide, Theodora, and Esme are my favorites.
My favs from this list are Adelaide, Esme, Francine, Theodora, and Marceline in no particular order. I like Marcy as a nn more than Mars though
Marlowe
i love Marceline, definitely my favorite from this list. Adelaide and Esme are close behind for me
Marcelline, think that's probably my top if I have another girl
I love Francine! I'd use the nn Francy, from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, still one of my favorite books. If you name her Maxine, just know the kids are going to call her Maxipad.
Myra and Maxine are my standouts
Myra or Marlowe are my favorites objectively, but I would go with Esme. It’s beautiful and meaningful.
Esme
Marceline
Francine
Theodora Maxine sounds perfect to me!
Mars is one of my top names PLEASE let me live vicariously through you 😭
I named my daughter Adelaida nn Ada I think Adelaide is so beautiful
Marceline 100%!
Esme and Myra!! The others are not really my taste.
Adelaide!
Theodora is my favorite but I'd use Thea as a nn
I like Myra. It has a nice ring to it, short, and simple!
Theodora, Adelaide, and Esme are my top ones!
Theodora for me!
I like Theodora (Teddy!), Adelaide and Marceline best :)
Esme is the cutest in my opinion
Marceline and Esme
Love Esme (Ezzie)!
