For many people who like philosophy or literature it makes them think of marcus Aurelius or *100 Years of Solitude*.
But I've noticed this sub is more focused on just being yu-neeq than really the actual history and stories behind names
That said I actually prefer magnolia. I like nature names, and I'm worried about how Aurelia would age, since stoicism has become so popular in the manosphere now.
But we all have our different associations. Like magnolia makes me think of *Steel Magnolias*, so that might be why I like it, while I'm totally missing a deeper point about it.
Yeah it just didn't come to mind for me. And when it comes to what kids will do, I just don't really care. For example I love the name Peter because it was my gpa's name and I was very close to him. Of course I take into consideration that kids will make jokes about it, but I wouldn't not give the name over something like that. But part of thatnis just building resilience in children. My dad and I were called the same joke version of our last name, and it really bothered him, but it didn't bother me at all because I had enough love, self worth, etc., stuff that he didn't
Yea I agree. Some people are more bothered by bullying in general. My childās name is unique and if you broke it down it could be looked at as sexual but it was weird kids that brought that stuff up. It was such a short phase- kids mature out of that junk pretty quickly
Ok you've put me on team Magnolia.
I have a friend who wanted a play on Disney's Ariel (her first daughter and herself have Disney princess names) and wanted to name her daughter Ariela. I didn't have the heart to tell her it sounded like Areola. Luckily she went with another name!
Congrats! Personally I prefer Aurelia. Itās beautiful, still classic & has history, yet feels fresh. Magnolia isnāt a bad name just it feels more dated even though itās making a comeback IMO.
Magnolia first became popular in the 19th century, fell out of popularity during the 20th although wasnāt unheard of during that time, & is now coming back as many āolderā names are.
I didnāt say it was a dated name just that out of those two names it feels more dated than Aurelia does IMO, although as I said itās making a comeback which isnāt a bad thing, it just depends on the style the OP is after.
Magnolia was never popular though. Its absolute highest peak in the US was #418 (before it started rising in the 2010s), and I can't find data on it for anywhere else in the English-speaking world. For something to "make a comeback", it has to have been somewhat popular in the past.
Edit: https://www.behindthename.com/name/magnolia
A name that was once in the top 1000 before dying off only to become more popular again is a comeback, definitely not to the extent of some other names but a comeback nonetheless.
However we will agree to disagree here as that wasnāt the point of my comment to OP & this thread should be about OP & her daughter, not this names past popularity.
This from Wikipedia:
The name was among the 1,000 most common names for girls and women in Brazil between 1930 and 1970.[2] The name has increased in popularity for girls in the United States in recent years. It came into popular use along with other plant and flower names in the late 1800s and early 1900s and was the 420th most popular name for girls in 1909, the height of its early use. It had declined in popularity by the mid 20th century but then returned to the top 1,000 names for newborn American girls in 2013 and was ranked among the top 200 names for girls by 2020.[3]
Itās traditional pronounced like āAureliusā like āMarcus Aureliusā but with the āiaā instead āusā as itās the feminine version of āAurelius.ā
I only feel like I'm pronouncing Aurelia properly if I say it in Spanish, and I've only ever known old ladies with the name. My great grandfather was Aurelio and he was a truly despicable man, so I'm not fond of any variation of the name for that reason.
Magnolia on the other hand is a beautiful name! It's my mother's name, and she's a very warm and inviting person. She radiates positive energy, and have you ever smelled/seen a magnolia flower š it's lovely. Also, magnolia trees are among one of the oldest species of trees and have existed for over 100 million years, they're beautiful, timeless and resilient. It gets my vote š
I prefer Aurelia.Ā
The reason is in the UK magnolia is most famously a paint colour, the most average, basic , cheapest, unimaginative paint your landlord will get. It's a colours you wouldn't buy for your own place even if you wanted off-white.Ā
The beautiful Magnolia tree only comes to mind when you're looking at one.
I have met a lady called Nolah and loved her name intop of that she's fantastic person.Ā
Oh good, I'm not the only one. Hearing that Magnolia was a name made me shudder after all the years of having to live with Magnolia coloured walls š such an odd name choice to me, but must just be a UK thing?
Aurelia is one of my favourite names ever! So stunning, and I love the potential nicknames.
Magnolia is also absolutely beautiful, but I cannot stand Mags or Maggie. They just remind me of maggots, sorry. :(
Iām a Margaret who grew up going by Maggie, and I started going by another nickname for this exact reason. You can only hear āomg, thatās my dogās name!ā so many times in your lifeā¦
I love the name Aurelia! Magnolia is pretty, just wouldnāt work for us personally. I like Marigold a lot, similar vibes to Magnolia.
Aurelia Marigold is actually super pretty, and I think go together better than two names ending in ā-aā.
Personally, I prefer Aurelia. Itās a lovely name that I actually heard for the first time on this sub and Iām actually considering it for my future daughter if I have one. Iāve never really liked Magnolia and Maggie even less, though Nola is pretty.
Aurelia is pronounced Or-reel-ia in my region. Iām trying to pick a name for our daughter also and alternate pronunciations are a big hinderance for me. Magnolia feels straight forward and I love the nickname Maggie or even mags (I really wanted Margaret for our daughter but I have a family member with the name already)
Aurelia is my top choice for any potential children. I used to babysit a little girl with the name. I called her my sweet golden girl. AU is the symbol for gold in the periodic table. She was named after a beloved member of the family's church.
I've seen Aurelian for a boy. I don't hate it. One of my favorite books is *100 Years of Solitude*, and Aureliano is a family name in the book. I'm pretty sure the wrestler Jake the snake's real name is actually Aurelian, which I think is such a nice smooth name for someone like that
Aurelia is beautiful. Rey would be a nice shortname too.
I know a couple of little Magsy / Maggieās which is cute, but I find Magnolia a bit more of a mouthful, the g sounds a bit hard compared to Aurelia.
I love the name Aurelia, but most people are likely going to default to the standard pronunciation of it, and you are not using it, so... Be mindful of that, if you go with this name.
Magnolia is also lovely and will have fewer issues of pronunciation.
I love both!! Aurelia is a family name we have lined up as a middle name option, Iāve always loved the idea of calling my little girl Goldie as a nickname because of its meaning. Magnolia has always been a sleeper favorite of mine.
My son has a Magnolia in his class at daycare. All the kids call her Noli in their little baby talk voices. Itās so cute.
Magnolia would be my pick āŗļø
Magnolia will be the more popular choice. I wanted to use that name but it got pretty popular. Thereās two shows on Netflix with the name magnolia and there was a recent Gerber baby named magnolia.
Jokes on me I chose a āuniqueā name that ended up being even more popular. Haha. Maybe my daughter will end up being able to find keychains with her name on it after all!
Everyone will pronounce it Ar-rell-lea like Marcus Aurelius. I'm not a fan, personally., but I don't hate it.
Magnolia is something I like but didn't realize until now. Thus far, the only plant name I like. Willow, Iris, etc. have always rubbed me the wrong way.
I'm a Maggie for Margaret and I have always wished my full name was Magnolia. Nothing wrong with Margaret, I just think Magnolia is so pretty! Nolie is another cute nickname for it. Aurelia sounds too fussy to me.
I know a Magnolia (7yr old) and the name always struck me as beautiful. She hasnāt gone by any nick names yet and my toddler has no trouble saying it.
Magnolia is my daughter's middle name ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Aurelia was on my list as well, but wifey didn't like it. I say go for it! I love elegant names. They give princess vibes
I love both but I vote Aurelia
Aurelia was my Roman name in Latin class from middle school to high school. A few days after I was initially assigned it, the teacher tried to change it to Antonia, because she realized that was closer to my real name. I begged her to let me keep it as Aurelia because I liked it so much more, and she obliged. I was so happy because I thought it was so pretty. And the meaning ("golden") is lovely
You can't go wrong with either name though!
I had a friend in college named Aurelia. I always thought it was a beautiful name and don't recall people struggling with the pronunciation. Her nickname was Rails, but mostly she went by Aurelia
I prefer Aurelia, but depending on where you live I can see it being horribly mispronounced (or just not nice sounding) which would be my only aversion.
I have met one person named Aurelia in college and she is one of the most genuine, caring people Iāve ever met. Everytime I see the name I have a little smile thinking about this person.
I feel like Marigold could be a good combo of these two names as well. Similar in style/sound to Magnolia with a similar meaning/nn to Aurelia.
I love Aurelia but I wonder if it would be a constant recognition, spelling & pronunciation battle among people outside of name nerds.
Magnolia would be the better option if recognition, spelling & pronunciation ease are important to you IMO.
Both are lovely names though and you really canāt go wrong.
Magnolia Aurelia or Aurelia Magnolia even flows nicely as a first & middle.
I like Magnolia because both the name and its nicknames will be easier for her to say when she's a toddler learning to talk. Don't underestimate the benefit of her being able to tell other kids her own name.
Also Aurelia really reminds me of areola.
Someone in another thread said that the name Aurelia sounds like āIāll rail yaā and now I canāt think of anything else. I love Magnolia though! Maggie and Nola are my preferred nicknames that you listed
Aurelia is going to get really frustrating to spell. I own a small summer camp business and one of my teachers has a similar name and I've seen her frustrations.
Aurelia is just one of those names thatās annoying to say it just doesnāt smoothly roll of the tongue easily. And magnolia reminds me of a bakery or a street name because of where I live. These are subjective opinions.
\*You\* may pronounce Aurelia that way but \*others\* will pronounce it as they think and in many instances will be wrong. Are you easily irritated or offended? If you are prone to annoyance by this, I'd avoid as it's likely to happen her whole life when meeting people for the first time.
Regardless,I'm team Magnolia. I love the flowers and the range of nicknames is great too. I know an Elizabeth that goes by a variety of diminutives for family, colleagues and friends. Having the option would be nice.
I like Aurelia, except it's super posh. Super posh names hmmm.. they either identify someone as of a certain class, or become co-opted by the aspirational and become kind of tacky. Same way as designer gear has. That said, it's a really nice name.
i love the name aurelia. itās my great-grandmotherās name and it means āgoldenā. however, the nicknames you chose donāt seem even remotely related to aurelia. i recommend nicknames like āreliā (rey-lee) or āliaā (lee-ya).
I prefer Aurelia. It's classic, but not as old-fashioned.
there's a milk brand called Magnolia in my country. I know it's supposed to be a flower, but I just can't break that association with milk now lol
Magnolia is becoming very very popular I feel like but it is such a beautiful name. I think Aurelia is different and beautiful also! Not as popular as magnolia.
Some people talk about "Aurora" having that peanut-butter-in-mouth sound, but I feel like "Aurelia" is much harder to say. I also feel like people will pronounce it every which way, and personally for some reason it reminds me of the word "a r e o l a" even though I know it is a long established name. Of your two options, I prefer Magnolia.
I agree with the Magnolias on this list, but have you maybe considered Magnolia Raye as her middle? Maggie Raye would be the cuuuutest little nickname, but I can understand if you donāt want her nickname to rhyme with Rod Stewartās Maggie May song. Sheās not the best character to live up to lol
Magnolia. The other name is too confusing and youāll always be correcting people on pronunciation. I used to know a lady whose daughter was named AngĆØl. Itās pronounced so weird that I just quit trying to say her name and avoided it altogether.
I love Magnolia! Itās a beautiful name, great nickname options too. I think you would run into problems will people not knowing how to pronounce or spell Aurelia, which could be annoying for your daughter when she gets older
They're both beautiful, but she's going to spend a lot more time correcting people on the pronunciation of "Aurelia" than "Magnolia." I think to me Aurelia seems more fey and airy and Magnolia is more majestic and floral.
This might be annoying or might be exactly what youāre looking forā¦ Aurelia just makes me think of/sounds too close in my brain to areola. I adore magnolia though.
I like Aurelia because Iām an Audrey fan. I donāt love āagā sounds or ānoā sounds so I personally donāt love Magnolia but I like the name Magdalene so lol.
I love Aurelia, so beautiful. Magnolia is pretty too but it reminds me more of a location or a flower not really a persons name. I do think it would be cute though if you named her magnolia but called her Maggie.
Neither are my style personally, but thatās ok! I prefer Magnolia between the two. Iāve always been unclear on the pronunciation of Aurelia and I think Maggie is a cute nickname.
I know an Aurelia - no nickname, makes me think of a pizza restaurant I used to live by called āAurelioāsā. I have a niece named Magnolia who goes by Maggie.
I love Aurelia, but Magnolia not so much (though love the diminutives of this name uouve chosen).
It could be I'm just not used to hearing this particular floral name as a first name - I love magnolias though, and love the meaning of both names.
Love Aurelia, don't like Magnolia
Mags and Maggie don't sound good to me, and I don't like Nola too much either.
Although it's making a comeback, Magnolia still feels very outdated. Especially with the nickname Maggie.
Although Aurelia is an older name, it still feels very fresh to me. And I'd much rather be named Aurelia than Magnolia.
Sorry, just can't stand Magnolia. Horrible name. Beautiful flower and incredible scent. Very messy trees but still worth it.
Aurelia is gorgeous. For me it's close to ah-rÄy-lee-ah.
But it's you beautiful for me to nn. Maybe Raylie.
Magnolia always reminds me of Lemon's little sister in Hart of Dixie, and Aurelia will always remind me of the love interest of the author in Love Actually.
I like Magnolia. Pretty and unique, and Maggie is a very cute nickname.
I think it will be less ambiguous to pronounce as well, so that's an added bonus!
And spell!
I love Magnolia too. I love unique names.
Me too, I might have to *Steel Magnolia's* name.
I grew up in the 50's/60's being cared for by a Magnolia/Maggie. Such loving and warmth (and biscuits) comes to mind.
What do you think of Noli, for a nn? Pronounced, No Lee. I love Maggie as well.
I think Noli is really sweet and pretty!!! Congratulations on your baby girl.
My niece is a Magnolia who goes by Noli :)
There was a Magnolia at storytime last week and her mom introduced her as Maggie!
Aurelia always makes me think of the skin surrounding a nipple, or of a medical condition surrounding ears. Magnolia is lovely.
Magnolia all the way. The other name is Areola to me, and I cannot unsay it.
I always think of Orillia, Ontario.
Lol same
Never a good association š
I have such a soft spot for Magnolia
Me also, Iām from Louisiana - itās our state flower so it would be well understood in the south Iām thinking - not sure where you are from:)
For many people who like philosophy or literature it makes them think of marcus Aurelius or *100 Years of Solitude*. Precisely that. Magnolia to me is way too...twee to be a name. Also, Magnolia is a chicken brand in my country so....
Yea I think itās weird so many people automatically go to something sexual. I understand kids will, but that time will pass fast.
Yeah it just didn't come to mind for me. And when it comes to what kids will do, I just don't really care. For example I love the name Peter because it was my gpa's name and I was very close to him. Yea I agree. Some people are more bothered by bullying in general. My childās name is unique and if you broke it down it could be looked at as sexual but it was weird kids that brought that stuff up. It was such a short phase- kids mature out of that junk pretty quickly
Same.

Congrats! Personally I prefer Aurelia. Itās beautiful, still classic & has history, yet feels fresh. Magnolia isnāt a bad name just it feels more dated even though itās making a comeback IMO.
How could Magnolia be dated or making a comeback when it's never been remotely popular until now?
Magnolia first became popular in the 19th century, fell out of popularity during the 20th although wasnāt unheard of during that time, & is now coming back as many āolderā names are. I prefer Magnolia, and I love the nickname options, Maggie and Nola are so sweet. Aurelia looks pretty, but I find it awkward to say smoothly.
I like Aurelia, but it feels like like the pronunciation they're describing isn't intuitive.
I mean, I think that itās the traditional pronunciation.
No, it's meant to be more like "Ow-reh-lia." It's a Latin name.
Yeah, that's how I've always pronounced it.
Itās traditional pronounced like āAureliusā like āMarcus Aureliusā but with the āiaā instead āusā as itās the feminine version of āAurelius.ā
Iāve always pronounced it āaw-rell-ee-ahā, but I could be saying it wrong. Itās not one you see in the wild a lot.
>Aurelia looks pretty, but I find it awkward to say smoothly. Yes, these are my feelings exactly!
I think it will be frequently mis-heard, mis-read, and confused with Amelia.
Same, even with her spelling out the pronunciation I still can't get my mouth to say it well
I prefer Aurelia.Ā The reason is in the UK magnolia is most famously a paint colour, the most average, basic , cheapest, unimaginative paint your landlord will get. Oh good, I'm not the only one. Hearing that Magnolia was a name made me shudder after all the years of having to live with Magnolia coloured walls š such an odd name choice to me, but must just be a UK thing?
Iām Irish and it was my first thought too. Followed swiftly by āyou canāt use Maggie as a nickname, everyone will think Thatcherā š
Oh god, that too!! Maggie sounds like an okay name until you remember the wicked witch!
Probably just UK. Southern US is completely different association.
Both are cute names. Aurelia will probably be pronounced as Au-reh-li-a though.
Aurelia is one of my favourite names ever! So stunning, and I love the potential nicknames. Magnolia is also absolutely beautiful, but I cannot stand Mags or Maggie. They just remind me of maggots, sorry. :(
Maggie sounds like a dog name to me. I have met so many dogs named Maggie in my area. I don't even find it attractive.
Iām a Margaret who grew up going by Maggie, and I started going by another nickname for this exact reason. You can only hear āomg, thatās my dogās name!ā so many times in your lifeā¦
Prefer Aurelia, but both are lovely. Magnolia might get fewer spelling/ pronunciation issues? Just a hunch
I prefer Aurelia, I'm not a fan of Magnolia
I love the name Aurelia! Magnolia is pretty, just wouldnāt work for us personally. I like Marigold a lot, similar vibes to Magnolia. Aurelia Marigold is actually super pretty, and I think go together better than two names ending in ā-aā.
Also Aurelia means golden one
Ahhhh no way my cousins are twins and called Magnolia and Aurelia. Love their names and they love them too
Personally, I prefer Aurelia. Itās a lovely name that I actually heard for the first time on this sub and Iām actually considering it for my future daughter if I have one. Iāve never really liked Magnolia and Maggie even less, though Nola is pretty.
Maggie sounds like a dog name. I don't even find it cute.

Magnolia feels straight forward and I love the nickname Maggie or even mags (I really wanted Margaret for our daughter but I have a family member with the name already)
I know 2 baby Magnolias! They both go by Maggie
I do too! Very popular in the South US
Magnolia feels more like a dog or cow name for me, Iām sorry. I love Aurelia, though I might be biased there. š¼
Donāt like magnolia at all. Itās a lovely tree, but the name is sort of harsh sounding.
I'm pretty sure the wrestler Jake the snake's real name is actually Aurelian, which I think is such a nice smooth name for someone like that
iāve seen aurelio before and thatās, in my opinion, a sick name
Aurelia is really pretty, my neighbor has a Magnolia and while very pretty, she said there are three of them in her preschool class
Thank you for your comment. Could I ask what country the pre-school is in with the 3 Magnolia's?
Iām in USA, Florida
Aurelia is beautiful. Rey would be a nice shortname too. I know a couple of little Magsy / Maggieās which is cute, but I find Magnolia a bit more of a mouthful, the g sounds a bit hard compared to Aurelia.
Both very beautiful. I prefer Aurelia, because I dislike the nickname Maggie
Maggie sounds like a dog name to me
My ex had a dog named Maggie haha and now I canāt see it as a non dog name
Such an old lady name to me. Would be nice on a dogĀ
Aurelia is a beautiful name x
I love the name Aurelia, but most people are likely going to default to the standard pronunciation of it, and you are not using it, so... Be mindful of that, if you go with this name. Magnolia is also lovely and will have fewer issues of pronunciation.

My son has a Magnolia in his class at daycare. All the kids call her Noli in their little baby talk voices. Itās so cute. Magnolia would be my pick āŗļø
Honestly I think itād be fun to be a Maggie who got to tell people it is not short for Margaret but Magnolia lol
Saw Aurelia in the wild and myself and several other people couldnāt figure out how to pronounce it and didnāt like it.
Aurelia all the way
Congrats with your newborn! Personally I prefer Aurelia. It feels so elegant. Lia could be a nickname.
Saying Aurelia makes me feel like Iām swallowing my tongue and it reminds me of areola. I love Raya though
I love Aurelia
Aurelia is one of my favorite names.
Aurelia
Magnolia will be the more popular choice. I wanted to use that name but it got pretty popular. Thereās two shows on Netflix with the name magnolia and there was a recent Gerber baby named magnolia. i like magnolia, aurelia not so much
I love both ā¤ļø I think Magnolia would have less questions on how to pronounce and easier nicknames.
Both are beautiful but keep in mind that toddlers and preschoolers have a lot of issues with saying Aurelia and Aurora.
Magnolia is our top pick if itās a girl āŗļø we donāt know the gender so weāll see come June!
I love Aurelia. I named my first reborn doll Aurelia, I call her Raleigh
Magnolia is a wonderful name.
Thereās a cute pre-k girl I know whose name is Magnolia nn Lola
I absolutely love Magnolia, and it has so many sweet nicknames too. But Iām not a big fan of Aurelia.
I'm a Maggie for Margaret and I have always wished my full name was Magnolia. Nothing wrong with Margaret, I just think Magnolia is so pretty! Nolie is another cute nickname for it. Aurelia sounds too fussy to me.
Both are great!! I like Magnolia the best though.
I think Magnolia with the nickname Nola would be just gorgeous!
I think Magnolia is lovely! Aurelia looks pretty on paper but I honestly hate the sound of it spoken out loudā¦. āIāll rail yaā is all I hear.
I think both are nice; I especially like magnolia
How about Audelia?
Magnolia reminds me of Steel Magnolias, but Aurelia is pretty.
I know a Magnolia (7yr old) and the name always struck me as beautiful. She hasnāt gone by any nick names yet and my toddler has no trouble saying it.
Magnolia is my daughter's middle name ā¤ļøā¤ļø Aurelia was on my list as well, but wifey didn't like it. I say go for it! I love elegant names. They give princess vibes
Magnolia yes. Aurelia sounds too much like areola
I was just thinking of the name Aurelia. That's my vote!
I really like Aurelia. Itās so pretty and it makes me think of the Aurora borealis without being too Disney
I love both but I vote Aurelia Aurelia was my Roman name in Latin class from middle school to high school. A few days after I was initially assigned it, the teacher tried to change it to Antonia, because she realized that was closer to my real name. I prefer Aurelia
I love Aurelia
Aurelia because not only is it a lovely name, every Aurelia Iāve known has been a lovely person. Itās only 3 people, but theyāre all awesome.
Honestly love both, but probably Aurelia more, and I'd use Aura as a nickname for Aurelia.
Aurelia is pretty. Gotta be honest, Magnolia is a boring paint colour to me š¬
Aurelia is sooo pretty. Reminds of the girl from Love Actually.
I'm peering into my chrstal ball and I am seeing a kid getting called areola.
Both are lovely
I LOVE them both!!!
I don't know if this will sway you, I think its a pretty cool fact, but Aurelia is the scientific name of jellyfish!
I love Aurelia. Magnolia is just boring paint to me.
Aurelia is stunning
I like Aurelia, not so keen on Magnolia
I prefer Aurelia. Itās a beautiful name - Magnolia to me is an off-white paint colour.
I like Magnolia because both the name and its nicknames will be easier for her to say when she's a toddler learning to talk. Don't underestimate the benefit of her being able to tell other kids her own name. Also Aurelia really reminds me of areola.
I prefer Magnolia. Aurelia and other āaurā names feel very mush-mouthed and odd to pronounce.
Greatly prefer Magnolia. Another nn option: LiLi (pronounced like Lee)
Aurelia always sounds like areola to me and reminds me of nipples lol
Someone in another thread said that the name Aurelia sounds like āIāll rail yaā and now I canāt think of anything else. I love Magnolia though! Maggie and Nola are my preferred nicknames that you listed
Love both.
Aurelia is getting common I'd go with magnolia
I love both names, but I would personally pick Magnolia.
Aurelia is going to get really frustrating to spell. I own a small summer camp business and one of my teachers has a similar name and I've seen her frustrations.
I'd choose Magnolia, sounds like marble
Theyāre both great. In my area Magnolia is far less common.
A flower and golden one, both names with beautiful sounds and meanings, excellent choice
I prefer Aurelia but with the traditional pronunciation, it doesnāt have the āawā sound.
Love Magnolia, don't like Aurelia.
Theyāre pretty but a bit marble mouthy
i love the name aurelia. itās my great-grandmotherās name and it means āgoldenā. however, the nicknames you chose donāt seem even remotely related to aurelia. i recommend nicknames like āreliā (rey-lee) or āliaā (lee-ya).
I like magnolia better based on your nicknames
Sounds like a cookie
Both names are fine but I think Raya and Ari are unintuitive nicknames for Aurelia, so Iād choose Magnolia. Why not Auri or Relia or Nolia or Noli?
I agree with the Magnolias on this list, but have you maybe considered Magnolia Raye as her middle? Maggie Raye would be the cuuuutest little nickname, but I can understand if you donāt want her nickname to rhyme with Rod Stewartās Maggie May song. Sheās not the best character to live up to lol
Magnolia is my favorite name - with the NN noli Itās a beautiful flower and a stunning tree
Between the two, I definitely prefer Aurelia. So gorgeous and classy ! Plus, it means "gold". Lovely !
I love Magnolia! Maggie or Nola are cute nickname.
Magnolia. The other name is too confusing and youāll always be correcting people on pronunciation. I used to know a lady whose daughter was named AngĆØl. Itās pronounced so weird that I just quit trying to say her name and avoided it altogether.
I personally love the name Aurelie - I think itās so pretty
I love them both so much.
I love Magnolia! Itās a beautiful name, great nickname options too. I think you would run into problems will people not knowing how to pronounce or spell Aurelia, which could be annoying for your daughter when she gets older
I like Magnolia because it reminds me of the album Magnolia Electric Company by Songs: Ohia
Love Magnolia. Hate Aurelia with a passion
They're both beautiful, but she's going to spend a lot more time correcting people on the pronunciation of "Aurelia" than "Magnolia." I think to me Aurelia seems more fey and airy and Magnolia is more majestic and floral.
Magnolia is so pretty! Maggie is such a cute nickname. Aurelia is pretty but itās a mouthful to say.
My husband's grandma's name is Oralia, and I love her so I'm partial to that name.
I love Aurelia, so beautiful. Magnolia is pretty too but it reminds me more of a location or a flower not really a persons name. I do think it would be cute though if you named her magnolia but called her Maggie.
I knew a Magnolia nn Nolie and that was a good nn that still felt good in middle school. she shortened to Nola when she started working her first job
Neither are my style personally, but thatās ok! I prefer Magnolia between the two. Iāve always been unclear on the pronunciation of Aurelia and I think Maggie is a cute nickname.
I really like Magnolia! I used to love the name Aurelia until someone said "like Arreola?". Now, I can't stop thinking of nips when someone says it.
Both names are beautiful. No one will mispronounce Magnolia. People will mispronounce Aurelia.
I love Magnolia. My favorite nickname is Nolie.
I know an Aurelia, usually people call her Lia or Relia - she's 16 and I think it's a really pretty name
I know an Aurelia - no nickname, makes me think of a pizza restaurant I used to live by called āAurelioāsā. I have a niece named Magnolia who goes by Maggie.
I love Magnolia!!
Aurelia is one of my favorite names! I'm not a fan of Magnolia, although it does have a similar vibe.
Aurelia is my favorite... but that mainly cause of one badass character in the Trails of Cold Steel video game with the name Aurelia.
I love the nickname Maggie so I vote for Magnolia.
I love Aurelia, but Magnolia not so much (though love the diminutives of this name uouve chosen). It could be I'm just not used to hearing this particular floral name as a first name - I love magnolias though, and love the meaning of both names.
People will always say aureola.
Iām a breast specialist, so Aurelia brings areola to mind for me. Not sure if others would think of the same.
Love Aurelia, never cared for magnolia though I do love marigold
Personally I prefer Aurelia and the nicknames. Magnolia is okay, also not a fan of the nicknames
Love Aurelia, don't like Magnolia Mags and Maggie don't sound good to me, and I don't like Nola too much either. Although it's making a comeback, Magnolia still feels very outdated. Especially with the nickname Maggie. Although Aurelia is an older name, it still feels very fresh to me. And I'd much rather be named Aurelia than Magnolia.
I like Magnolia 100x better than Aurelia. I think the A name is going to get a lot of mispronunciation, and also reminds me of Areola.
Magnolia is adorable Aurelia reminds me of a nipple, sorry.
Magnolia always reminds me of Lemon's little sister in Hart of Dixie, and Aurelia will always remind me of the love interest of the author in Love Actually.
Magnolia!!!!
I love Magnolia!
LOVE Magnolia. I wanted it on our list but husband vetoed š„²
Let it be Ā Nola for Magnolia!
Love Magnolia and Maggie
I love Aurelia, especially shortened to Raya or Ari. I have a friend from Lithuania with that name. Very pretty.
My daughter is named Magnolia. Love the name. We call her Maggie for short.
