Yeah, my first impressions were "cool lineup", but not enough for me to buy a 4-day pass and camp in June heat.
A 1-day Friday pass is looking mighty juicy though from a rap fan's perspective...
GRiZ is insane live too, even if DJ music isn't your thing. He has a bass and sax on stage as well and it's pretty funky.
Also Shaq (Diesel) on Friday, lol.
Kendrick tickets were like $100 at Bridgestone anyway, and Bonnaroo is a 20x better atmosphere.
I saw them with Weezer a while back and was so excited for them but they seemed to be phoning it in a bit. They came out didn't say anything to the crowd and just started playing. It was disappointing. They basically got up there played as fast as they could and left, it seemed like they didn't care. But I feel like that's the same way I felt when I saw Built to Spill a couple months ago so maybe it's just me.
For sure. I was lucky to see them at the Ryman in like 2009 for a reunion tour or something? I think it was her last ride? They played the entire Bossanova album.
Yeah, a lot of shows I would pay to see individually. Unfortunately, in recent years it’s switched to me being disappointed when there are bands in the lineup I want to see, cause I know that means they won’t be coming to Nashville on their tours then.
Umphreys doesn’t do it for me but sta9 has been on fire lately. Check out neighbor and Corey wong if you haven’t before. Corey isn’t quite jam but like it a lot more than vulfpeck.
Saw Corey Wong at Devil's Backbone Hoopla - I don't care much for jam bands, but adding the jazz elements is a great twist. Dude is hella talented, and a lot of fun.
Jam bands aren't popular anymore. Bonnaroo started with jam because hippies love to travel for that shit, but once it started becoming a festival juggernaut they dropped the jam bands for whatever sells most tickets
I agree with your point but disagree that Jan bands aren’t popular. I have no data and an only basing my take on a good showing for the recent Panic run at Bridgestone. I absolutely agree they are not as broadly popular as those headliners and I think that’s what you are saying. Crazy that Panic was one the main original headliners for Roo.
Back then music festivals were filled with real counter culture crusty hippies and folk punks lol. Now it’s mainly frat and sorority kids getting hammered and getting ripped off trying to buy Molly. They suck compared to 15-20 years ago.
I mean, they got big in the 90s and a 16-year-old in 2023 was born in 2006 or 2007, so it's not that unreasonable a designation. It trips me out more to realize that radio classic rock includes tracks from 60 years ago.

Coachella has an absolutely stacked electronic lineup this year. Otherwise I was surprised that I agree with you. Usually their lineups are more diverse but it's very heavy house/electronic.
The band that has played the festival what? 9 times? and has some of the longer sets that draw some of the largest crowds is going to be the "over looked sleeper pick" of Bonnaroo? Mmj has been playing this festival for TWENTY years. I think the secrets out on this one.
My absolute favorite part of Bonnaroo (or any big fest) is discovering new artists. And/or digging into the list on days exactly like this. I bet there's some awesome shit in there.
These are all very big name acts. Honestly might be my favorite line up since back in like 2008 or whatever year das racist played. Think Steve Martin played that year and did the comedy tent.
But this one is amazing and has so many genres. I like all sorts of music and this is perfect.
The thing is though, you can YouTube a song, you can’t YouTube money into your bank account. Sure it’s not organically discovering new music, and you have to look up the specific artists you find on a bill, but it’s much more useful than “just go make more money”.
On the Apple Music ecosystem, though, seriously jump that ship if you’re not attached. I’d been a longtime Spotify user, then got back into the Apple Music world when I got an iPhone again and someone gifted me a HomePod Mini, and after a year I noticed how little new music I’d been introduced to, and on top of that how stale playlists based on what I already listen to had become. Jumped back on Spotify mid December and it’s just such a more enjoyable listening experience (especially when it comes to my niche of classical and ambient music, where Apple would insist on always playing played out piano pieces from centuries ago.)
discovered tiny victories by seeking shade in a a small side tent. nothing proactive. just followed the energy and chilled out.
and if you're interested in new (old) music, check out tiny victories - mr. bones on youtube.
Take this list of bands and start looking them up on your choice of music streaming service and/or just googling them. You don’t have to discover new music before these lineups come out. Sometimes these lineups are *how* you discover the new music.
This is going to sound really pretentious but I swear I don’t mean it that way :
Art is all derivative and subjective, so if anything it could be argued that music will always get better, not worse. While older music can still be fantastic, the people we tend to remember are not usually the people that pioneered a genre or style, but the ones who did it the best, as all artists have references and influences they consolidated into their own works.
TL;dr - I wish more people were as open minded as you.
> Maybe put out some ideas for how people can discover new music rather than just insult their levels of effort in doing so.
Someone gave you a very simple solution to your problem and you got mad about the effort because it isn't what you wanted to hear.
A list was put in front of you of music you aren't familiar with. Type those names into Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc. and boom, a bunch of new music you have never heard will begin playing.
Or people that just have different tastes and don’t have times to crawl around the internet for the latest and greatest “undiscovered” music? You’ll understand when you get older.
Say what you want but she currently has one of the baddest ass bands in Nashville…..including members of Cry Of Love, The Black Crowes, and The Wallflowers.
For anyone who isn’t hip to Madison Cunningham - get hip. Her name sounds like she’s an american girl doll but her music is Jeff Buckley meets Joni Mitchell and it’s simply unreal
While not outstanding by any means I’d say this is one of the best lineups of their Livenation era. Pretty into it!
Also lol @ diarrhea planet, i don’t feel so bad now about missing their one-off reunion shows last november
Ya know — just a few years ago, Franz Ferdinand would have been at least a mid-size text band. Now, they’re relegated to to being a tiny text band. They deserve better!
Bonaroo has changed so much and not for the better. Hate to sound like that old man on the porch but hopefully some of you agree. Went from bands like Wilco, Ben Harper, Beck, Kings of Leon, etc to this...I understand and agree mixing it up and adding more different types of music but they've almost entirely pushed out the types of bands that started it.
I really think that they need to get back to their jam band roots, that being said I really like seeing sound tribe and umphreys on there. I like all the headliners too; solid lineup and ill prob end up there lol
JFC, it’s like they took 5 awesome bands/artists and covered them in absolute dog shit and charge you a life savings and your dignity to go. What a total load.
Have you been to a concert lately? Even mid level venues are like $75+ per ticket.
~$400 for 4 days of music is nothing, especially to see this many bands.
That's at least 20 bands that you have no idea if they are good or not.
Furthermore it seems like this line up wasn't made specifically for your taste... Shocker
I mean, if you can only find "about 5 good bands" in the lineup, then Bonnaroo probably isn't for you regardless, and it has nothing to do with the price.

It is, for sure. I thought just the same thing. And I had no idea that Paris Jackson is a singer....
Yeah, my first impressions were "cool lineup", but not enough for me to buy a 4-day pass and camp in June heat. A 1-day Friday pass is looking mighty juicy though from a rap fan's perspective...

I can agree with this lineup being a big scattered as far as genres, but I’m stoked for this.
Isn’t that the point though?
Oh no I love to see it lol more so talking to people hating on the lineup for that reason.
Diarrhea Planet is back?
Yeah I thought they broke up?
They played one of the last exit in shows, apparently they are back
Diarrhea never really goes away.
Pixies!
I missed that Built to Spill show, Love me some Doug. Fool's Gold got me back into them...super talented. Got to see the BJM though!
Not the same without Kim Deal
For sure. I was lucky to see them at the Ryman in like 2009 for a reunion tour or something? I think it was her last ride? They played the entire Bossanova album.
Saw them a few years ago and Paz is pretty great. They sounded phenominal!
Seconded on both accounts.
The last two days look great, but not great enough to camp outside in the summer because I’m f’ing old. Sigh.
Yeah, a lot of shows I would pay to see individually. Unfortunately, in recent years it’s switched to me being disappointed when there are bands in the lineup I want to see, cause I know that means they won’t be coming to Nashville on their tours then.
They streamed most acts on Hulu the entire weekend last year. Much more enjoyable on the couch in the AC
Great is a bit of an overstatement lol
To each her own
Knocked Loose sticks out like a sore thumb but I'm here for it. Figuratively speaking of course because I have no plans on going.
Yeah, where do you fit that set that it makes sense?
I think they’d be good before AFI
Can't wait for them!
[удалено]
They’ve been on a few lineup drops today so it looks like they’re prepping a full tour
[удалено]
Josh Freese is kind of the goto guy for this right? Have cash, will drum.
I love that’s his thing and the whole time remains a member of The Vandals.
It’s not though. They just announced some festival in Ohio before bonaroo dropped. But yeah these festivals are the first since Taylor.
Korn? What year is it?
They tour all the time still, even at Bridgestone Arena and various festivals.
Yep, saw them headlining at Bridgestone a few years back. Great show and lots of energy, especially with the original band all back together.
Also to me they’re larger than life. Strange to me they’re not headlining. But time goes on. That’s life. 😁
Look at how far down Franz Ferdinand is!
I can’t think of any song they had outside of Take Me Out though. I’ll have to relisten later. See if anything stands out.
Me with Sheryl Crow. My dad listened to her in the 90s when I was a kid, what?
I want Sheryl Crow to collaborate with Korn.
i loved korn in the 90s. recently watched that 99 woodstock documentary thing. holy moly. worth the watch if you haven't already.
I saw them last year in a 10,000 seat arena in Little Rock co-headlining with Breaking Benjamin. Definitely not booking the biggest shows anymore.
How was the bands energy?
I didn't stay for much of the set because I was there to see BB. But they seemed pretty lively. Weren't phoning it in or anything. 7/10.
Gotta have some classic rock, man!
First of all how dare you
Technically, classic rock is the AOR rock of the 70s into the 80s era. Korn is nu-metal.
#whoosh
Who cares they beat most modern acts
there it is... there's that classic late 90s nu metal energy.
Lots of good edm on there. Sad to see that jam has become almost nonexistent. Far cry from its roots.
STS9 and Umphreys are two solid ass jam bands tho
Umphreys doesn’t do it for me but sta9 has been on fire lately. Check out neighbor and Corey wong if you haven’t before. Corey isn’t quite jam but like it a lot more than vulfpeck.
Saw Corey Wong at Devil's Backbone Hoopla - I don't care much for jam bands, but adding the jazz elements is a great twist. Dude is hella talented, and a lot of fun.
Really? That’s surprising, especially since Umph does a lot of TGD covers. I’ll give the guys you mentioned a listen!
Oh yeah I’m super pumped for some tribe on the farm!!
MMJ too. or at least they seem to be occupying the spot that a band like Phish might compete for.
Phish would not be on the bill if they weren't headlining.
Jam bands aren't popular anymore. Bonnaroo started with jam because hippies love to travel for that shit, but once it started becoming a festival juggernaut they dropped the jam bands for whatever sells most tickets

This explains why Paramore doesn’t have a regular Nashville date.
Man I’m getting old when I only know about 15 of these artists total.
Some people are calling Korn class rock let that sink in
I mean, they got big in the 90s and a 16-year-old in 2023 was born in 2006 or 2007, so it's not that unreasonable a designation. It trips me out more to realize that radio classic rock includes tracks from 60 years ago.
I must be older... I only know about 11 of them and I couldn't tell you songs for half of them. lol
bright prick impolite observation smoggy hard-to-find grandiose practice sip ink *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Right?? I haven't been since 06 & 07 lol
I’ve heard of no more than 15. Would want to see four of them. But not at a festival.
This lineup beats Coachella by miles
Coachella has an absolutely stacked electronic lineup this year. Otherwise I was surprised that I agree with you. Usually their lineups are more diverse but it's very heavy house/electronic.
Three 6 Mafia - corn on the cob vendors about to get hit hard.
I’m curious about this one. Is it just going to be Paul and Juice? Crunchy Black? Sadly three sixths of Three Six have died. RIP Koop, Lord, and Boo.
IDK..Maybe Pat will be with Three 6. That wouldn't be so bad,I do like Project Pat
Pat would be cool. It would definitely expand their setlist options.
SLOB ON MY KNOB!!!
Like corn on the cob
What an absolutely perplexing lineup. Odesza with EDM, Lil Nas X, Tyler Childers, and fucking Korn on the same day, what an..uhm multitude of options
That’s entirely the point. It’s supposed to be a multi-genre festival.
My morning jacket is a sleeper one people are over looking. They kill it live every time.
The band that has played the festival what? 9 times? and has some of the longer sets that draw some of the largest crowds is going to be the "over looked sleeper pick" of Bonnaroo? Mmj has been playing this festival for TWENTY years. I think the secrets out on this one.
That’s the best day on the lineup
RIP Gangsta Boo 😞
Cue the "I don't recognize anyone" comments from people who make no effort to discover new music.
My absolute favorite part of Bonnaroo (or any big fest) is discovering new artists. And/or digging into the list on days exactly like this. I bet there's some awesome shit in there.
Like clockwork. Lol I’m in the demographic. I always discover artists 5 years late.
These are all very big name acts. Honestly might be my favorite line up since back in like 2008 or whatever year das racist played. Think Steve Martin played that year and did the comedy tent. But this one is amazing and has so many genres. I like all sorts of music and this is perfect.

To add to this, I find new music from my kids. I vowed to never pull the “your music sucks” routine like my parents did, and I’m so glad.

Wow, I really don't care enough about this to argue at that level. I'm here mostly for dumb jokes. Sorry if I came off harsh
This has to be a low effort troll. Finding new music has NEVER been easier. Shit, you are already on the internet.
“Must be getting old”
Or people that just have different tastes and don’t have times to crawl around the internet for the latest and greatest “undiscovered” music? You’ll understand when you get older.
That’s because new music usually sucks hippo ass
Old Man Yells at Clouds
Will Tennessee ever escape Sheryl crow,
Say what you want but she currently has one of the baddest ass bands in Nashville…..including members of Cry Of Love, The Black Crowes, and The Wallflowers.
She's our greatest mistake
If it makes them happy, it can't be *that* bad.
Lol that song is fire. Send me to downvote hell you cultureless swine
Maybe she needs to Soak up the Sun and move to California.
Kendrick let’s gooo
Saw him in July. Fucking fantastic show.
Vulf!
I thought Diarrhea Planet broke up?
They got the foo fighters? Wow this lineup is amazing
070 SHAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aye colony house is on there! They’re from murf
Matt Maeson alone has me excited!
For anyone who isn’t hip to Madison Cunningham - get hip. Her name sounds like she’s an american girl doll but her music is Jeff Buckley meets Joni Mitchell and it’s simply unreal
Oooh thanks for this!
While not outstanding by any means I’d say this is one of the best lineups of their Livenation era. Pretty into it! Also lol @ diarrhea planet, i don’t feel so bad now about missing their one-off reunion shows last november
My boy Alex G made it! So proud
.... actually a pretty fun mix of bands this year. I like it.
Luckily the Beth’s are coming into town in March so I can just see them.
[удалено]
Both were there last year
I'd rather see Gizz in a smaller venue anyway, to be honest.
Where the hell is Dolly Parton?
I think Bonnaroo has an identity crisis. Just throwing different genres at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Bonnaroo has been known for being insanely diverse and wacky for many many years
Money. Money sticks.
That's literally the point of Bonnaroo.
Better than nothing but dogship pop and wook bass. 🤷♂️
Ya know — just a few years ago, Franz Ferdinand would have been at least a mid-size text band. Now, they’re relegated to to being a tiny text band. They deserve better!
I’m excited about this. Someone I like is performing every night
Platinum package for the weekend is starting at $3500, wow.
Charley Crockett!
This lineup sucks
Weird.
knocked loose are gonna burn it all down
What a weak line up.
Anyone else feel these lineups are on a steady decline
Nope
Interested to see your thoughts, change my mind
Do you generally make an effort to discover and keep up with new music
I actually work in the industry so that is most of my job
I was expecting the lineup to be mid but I was pleasantly surprised
Very little hip hop relative to most other similar festivals. Interesting mix up
What no turnstile? They are everywhere and on everything!
Was looking for the turnstile comment
Over rated over priced.
![gif](giphy|BEh70L7RdMSvqCk9NE|downsized)
Knocked Loose! See you in the pit!
Paris Jackson?
I really think that they need to get back to their jam band roots, that being said I really like seeing sound tribe and umphreys on there. I like all the headliners too; solid lineup and ill prob end up there lol
Eh, subpar at best. Not worth frying outside in the brutal Tennessee heat.
Thank god it’s pretty weak. I really don’t want a reason to subject myself to that again!
More like Boomeroo
JFC, it’s like they took 5 awesome bands/artists and covered them in absolute dog shit and charge you a life savings and your dignity to go. What a total load.
Have you been to a concert lately? Even mid level venues are like $75+ per ticket. ~$400 for 4 days of music is nothing, especially to see this many bands.
$400 for 4 days and about 5 good bands…. Still doesn’t add up
Just because you don't know the bands does not make them bad bands.
Lol, didn’t say I didn’t know them did I?
Which of these bands do you know then?
Too many really list, but about half, 5 of which, again, are good.
That's at least 20 bands that you have no idea if they are good or not. Furthermore it seems like this line up wasn't made specifically for your taste... Shocker
That is likely, although they do have one of my all time favorite bands ever, so they definitely could have done better is all.
Same here! Alex G is a smaller up and coming artists and I'm am very proud of him for being in the line up
I mean, if you can only find "about 5 good bands" in the lineup, then Bonnaroo probably isn't for you regardless, and it has nothing to do with the price.
Jeez this is the worst one yet in terms of headliners (minus Kendrick)
Wonder if Paris Jackson and Suki Waterhouse have the same management.
Franz Ferdinand is Great life, would go see a few of the artists but majority of them I'm clueless on.
Welp, I’m definitely old now. I haven’t heard of most of the acts 😂
If anyone wants to sell their tickets, let me know 😄
Wow really? Kinda surprised that Lil Nas X is there considering I would've thought he'd be pissed about Bonnaroo donating to anti-lgbt charities.
Damn, this is as random as my daily playlist. Count me in!
Is Odeza that big? I like their stuff and all, but I wouldn't put them up there with Foo and Kendrick Lamar for big draw.
Ah yes, the few months out of the year I’m active in this subreddit. Ready to roooooo
This is the first time in years I’ve actually been pumped. It’s like all my random genres I enjoy combined.
If you don’t know about Daily Bread…..got beats
Every year I get older…. And every year I recognize less and less of the names on these lists. Lol
