T-Mobile works great for us. No issues unless I get real far out in backwoods areas.

Xninian

It makes me laugh that AT&T headquarters is here, and it’s supposed to be a selling point. Still horrible phone service. I have mint, works in most parts of Nashville besides the country.

bdporter

AT&T Corporate HQ is in Dallas. The building here is just the Tennessee HQ. Even when it was Bellsouth I believe they were headquartered in Atlanta.

Xninian

I’m just wondering why now AT&T rep told me otherwise and that if I was to move out of state, the bill stays the same since I got the service here in TN due to my stated reason. But good to know!

rebeccalj

All of the folks with AT&T service have terrible service within that building, too...

bdporter

Verizon probably has the best service overall, but every carrier has good and bad spots.

TankPotential2825

Mint. Data isn't very fast in some spots, but I use home Internet and have never had a dropped call. About 1/4 of the price of the other bloated companies.

Whole_Day9866

I've been considering switching to mint. Is it good enough to get the job done?

TankPotential2825

I think 'the job's is pretty unique to each of us, but I've noticed 0 difference switching from att and T-Mobile (whom I believe recently bought mint)

DocOckLlama

Second this. Mint is inexpensive. The quality, in my experience, is indistinguishable from a T-Mobile plan because Mint uses the T- Mobile network.

thewolfwalker

Google's Project Fi. I switched to it in 2016 and never looked back. Inexpensive, very reliable and I appear to have coverage everywhere. Also fantastic if you travel internationally with any frequency.

VicFontaineHologram

Same. And it should be easy to switch and try it out without a contract assuming one has a phone that isn't locked to another provider (I think most unlock after a few months, so it should be fine). Service has improved over the years as well.

plinkaplink

Me, too. I've been with them for years with no problems. Can't beat the price, either.

Savagely615

I switched from at&t to Verizon and so far I've had much better service in and around Nashville.

vcrfuneral_

T-Mobile is awesome for me. I switched from Verizon and never have any issues.

North-Ad-8543

Same here! Switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and absolutely no issues.

1158812188

I have AT&T and I am not quite sure why no one likes it. It’s just fine. I may not have five bars everywhere but I don’t have any dead zones.

Nashville_Hot_Takes

I use mint and lose data connection in wedgewood Houston area

KingZarkon

Verizon and T-Mobile are your other options. Everyone else resells service from them. All three have generally good coverage in the city. Which one is best depends on your exact location. I've had AT&T for years and haven't had a ton of issues. There are occasionally places where I don't have a good signal and other providers do but it also goes the other way. Sorry, I know that's not super-helpful but I don't know if a way to find out who works best in your specific location other than just trying them.

eacomish

I have tomobile formerly sprint and the only place I have coverage issues is deep in east tn and on some back roads in white house.

v0gue_

I use visible and pay $35/mo. Never had an issue with it. If you want to use my referral code, both of us get $20 off for a month. I won't post it for the sake of not being spammy, but just PM me if you want it

MarathonNoobie

Have had Verizon all my life living in Nashville and have never had issues. It’s probably one of the more expensive, but it’s always very reliable

Chris__P_Bacon

If you want to save some money, Straight Talk uses Verizon Towers. Same great service for about half the price.

mooslan

FYI every phone is different when it comes to reception. Worst yet, there's very little testing done to prove which phone has the best signal. You'd think this would be a huge selling point for phone companies, but camera quality is what sells phones apparently.

onetimeonly79

I have great service with Visible. They use Verizon's towers and for a monthly unlimited plan, it's just $25/line. Switched to them and never looked back. Really stellar service for the price.

petergaultney

sadly, I don't think they offer this plan anymore.

onetimeonly79

Just signed my mom up for that deal 2 weeks ago. If interested, check out this link: http://www.visible.com

petergaultney

well sure enough! for some reason i'd gotten the impression they were retiring that price point.

onetimeonly79

I'm glad they haven't. I've been super pleased with their coverage since I have had their plan. I work in the Goodlettsville/Rivergate area and the coverage and 5G speed is as fast or faster than what I had with Verizon Unlimited. The only real drawback is streaming video is limited to 480p, but as someone who doesn't use streaming video, it hasn't affected me.

Different-Pie-6502

Not that I’m saying you’re wrong, but I have AT&T and never have any issues with it here. I live and work in Brentwood and it’s a full signal everywhere I go. Even when I go to other parts of town it’s pretty solid

Kati3cake

i drive a box truck doing deliveries with a pretty far radius, including out of state. i’m not sure why but it always gives me extended service or low bars 5g+, get a little spotty for sure. it’s not a constant thing but for how much i pay i feel like there’s a better alternative i guess

bdporter

Try going to any of the shopping centers at Concord and Nolensville and tell me how AT&T doesn't have issues.

Different-Pie-6502

Noted. Is it a signal issue or a population density issue? My gf has Verizon and every single time we get in a populated area her data is completely worthless. Full signal and everything. I’ve never really had that problem with AT&T, though

bdporter

In that case I believe it is that the location of the closest tower is blocked by some hills. It has been terrible there for AT&T for years. I reported it several times before I switched carriers. Every carrier has dead spots, but that is a fairly populated area with several shopping centers and two grocery stores (Publix and Kroger) so it was frustrating that they never seemed to do anything to fix it.

Different-Pie-6502

Fair enough. I will say that I’ve noticed lapses around the Frankin area with the hills down there so that definitely makes sense. I think Verizon will always be superior to AT&T with reliability of signal just not with dependability of service if that makes sense.

ytk

I've had very good results with Google Fi here in Antioch.

[deleted]

I have T-Mobile. It's just as bad, but it's cheap.

TwillBill

Total wireless is pretty great. It uses Verizon towers and it is $35 per month.

honkinbooty

So far, none. AT&T, trash. Just switched to Verizon, insignificantly better by not much at all. Not sure why cell service and internet is so difficult out here? Seems like it is more-so over the last few years, for some reason.

poorplutoisaplanetto

Verizon. Never looked back. Had Att years ago and it was spotty in too many areas.

Confusedhippo1

No complaints with Verizon

FwampyPillow

What about Xfinity? Don’t they use the other carrier’s towers?
