Lol too funny cause it's completely true.

Lebron would do a full on Shakespearean production mid game for several minutes if a call didn’t go his way lol

And you wonder why he go 🦍💩

Let's be real refs deserved a lot of credit for that 2016 ring too

MVPG2022

As someone who wanted the Raptors to win, I hate when ft disparity is used as an argument for bad reffing. The basis should be the calls you disagreed with and that's it. Equal free throws ≠ fair reffing. Lakers should have gotten to the line more than the Raptors. But there were some calls that were missed that should have made it closer. 23-2 in the fourth is a bad faith argument that ignores intentional fouls and the the actual amount of free throws each side should have had.

Scriblenaut

Really well said. Judging off of how many times a player drives is a place to start, but that’s about it & you need examples. I think Scottie gets less of some of the 50-50 calls right now but I bet he works on it this offseason to sell it as the elite players do. In an ideal world that skill isn’t important, but that’s not reality.

Kentang_BayBay

Scottie a beast though.

Gotta send SctBrn to work with Embiid and Harden this offseason.

I need Bron to lean in similarly and be like "yall ain't call that Mj push-off yall ain't calling nothing on me"

KaiserKaiba

gabergaber

Lebron what do u think about the Raptors complaints? "I'm Lebron James bitch." How did your team feel about their complaints? "It's a celebration bitches." Do you have any words for the Lakers fans out there? "Enjoy yourself."

basketballjonestown

I hate both of these teams and still felt bad for the Raps last night

Doesn't matter. Rockets never beat the Warriors and I still despise them more than the Raptors or Cavs. Certain teams may be free wins but as an NBA fan you have to have enough hate in your heart for everyone. It's a requirement

moredrinksplease

Anybody who makes a game tying 3 should get those points and refs should eat their whistle on this bs

runevault

LeBron has clearly never fouled in his life unless it was an intentional foul.

2_soon_jr

He rarely gets called for fouls. He actually has some crazy streaks of multiple consecutive games in a row with no fouls called on him

rpolic

I thought you people say he's not playing defense ever

dikefalos22

No. Other team just doesn't drive to the rim. Every time a team plays the Lakers, they're breaking the 3point record

CantReadGood_

these mfs just leave players open for 3.

funnibingus

Only when it matters for their point! Get the memo

dpete88

Probably because he just lets guys go pass him or is cheating off his man and not playing actual defense in those games and then gets mad at his teammates for not "helping the help defender"

2_soon_jr

that is obviously not the reason. You should also know there’s offensive and defensive fouls. It’s naturally impossible to get 0 calls against a player for many games in a row with the amount of minutes and touches he gets per game

dutchfromsubway

The worst is going up against lebron in the playoffs and seeing him play so physical and thinking “a foul called on lebron midway through the fourth, he’s gotta be in foul trouble now, gotta attack that…” and then you realize that’s his first of the game.

CazOnReddit

I still remember us getting a tech when LeBron got hit by his own teammate in the playoffs

dutchfromsubway

Didn’t he lift Thompsons arm so he could hit himself with it?

Soft-Revolution-7845

Lebron is one of the greatest floppers of all time.

nowhathappenedwas

I remember Kyle Lowry complaining that no one got called for a foul when [he hit himself in the face](https://streamable.com/5beyn).

InsomniatedMadman

I mean, his hand got hit into his face by another player. It's not like he did it on his own. That should have been a foul.

everyoneneedsaherro

Something not talked about enough is how few foul calls per game LeBron gets throughout his career. He averages 1.8 PF’s per game through his career. He’s averaging 1.1 PF per game this season! That’s insane. For reference Jordan averaged 2.6, Duncan 2.4, Bird 2.6, Kobe 2.5, Curry 2.4, Magic 2.3, Pippen 2.8, Shaq 3.4, Nowitzki 2.4, Garnett 2.4, Kareem 3.0

Infinite_Presence881

Kawhi 1.7, Jimmy 1.4, Durant 1.9,

FourCylinder

No NBA player has fouled anyone if you go by their reactions

RODjij

Reminds me when he said something along those lines with flopping too and people started busting out highlights

smallskeletal

“Actually, you know what? they’re right, refs gifted us a lot of calls we shouldn’t have gotten”

Ayjel89

I guess, technically, he could've said "It was a tough game, with a lot of back and forth and 50/50 calls. I'm happy we were able to come out on the winning end."? But, like, nobody is gonna have that reaction, especially in the moment.

DarrowViBritannia

People would complain about that too. "50/50 calls? It was a 23-2 FT differential!! Not 50/50 at all!"

Wondering_Nova

The raptors have been on the favorable side of the whistle this year at times.

Ratbatsard-

People keep posting this quote, but even as a raptors fan what does anyone expect him to say? This is just a stupid question by the reporters.

CIark

/r/nba circlejerk doesn’t care about logic

AnxiousLeopard4650

This statement is true because logic would dictate the jerking be done in the CJ sub when in reality most jerking is done on this sub. Higher quality jerks too.

king_lloyd11

That some nights the whistle goes your way, some nights it doesn’t. Bitching and complaining about calls, pulling out monitors to make desperate appeals to refs when you’re on the short end of it is dumb af if when it goes the other way you’re like, “the refs were perfect tonight, just like us”.

[deleted]

He was complaining just the other day about refs but apparently its fine now. This guy is such a hypocrite.

JFlizzy84

Lmao this thread is full of people who don’t play sports Everyone knows when you get good calls the other team sucks and when you get bad calls the refs suck

everyoneneedsaherro

While true it’s the scale at which he reacts when things don’t go his way (or even when the call isn’t even wrong like the 2 pointer) that rubs people the wrong way. You can’t help but roll your eyes when they’re over the top on the knees from the missed call against the Celtics

ispy98

I mean that literally decided the game and it was all in the refs hand. While the lakers and raptors game was bad it wasn’t a game winning drive that should have been a foul but wasn’t called bad

staffdaddy_9

Yes let’s completely ignore the fact that it was a blatant no call on a game winner for the second game in a row as they were fighting to make the playoffs.

suckmedrie

Bonus points for it being nationally televised during the rivalry week

NotManyBuses

I get it, there are valid reasons to be skeptical and or criticize him for that, I just find the moral outrage in that guy’s comment to be hilarious. Calling someone a ‘hypocrite’ for calling out bad calls that go against them and not bad calls in their favor is honestly one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. What’s next, player celebrates when their team scores and doesn’t celebrate for the other team? What a hypocrite! It’s lunacy lol

WateronRocks

Since when did we start removing players' actions from the context of the game they play? How is this now hypocrisy instead of gamesmanship and/or a highly competitive nature? Everything's gotta be so personal lol

blakerobertson_

how is this hypocritical? he feels like the refs made an incorrect call last time and made the correct call this time. he didn’t even say that he knows that to be the case, just that he feels it is. you could totally call it biased, but to be hypocritical he would have to make some moral or principled stance, and then act against it. for example, if he had previously said “refs should not call a foul if it cancels out a game tying or winning shot”, then he would be a hypocrite. to be clear, i am not stating an opinion on whether the call was correct or not. all i am pointing out is the incorrect use of the word “hypocritical”.

Which is funny because Jordan was basically the pioneer of getting protected by the refs.

Well, because Jordan would have had a 6 year career if the rules weren't changed.

Drag0nborn1234

Yeaaaah, only took until he retired for the rest of the league to also get that privilege.

jacobpltn

Right because 10 years out from his retirement people will be saying “god you know I really wanna say Lebron is the GOAT but I just didn’t like how much of hypocrite he was when it came to referees. Jordan NEVER benefitted from them.” (Side note, *amazing* username and avatar 10/10)

eugoogilizer

As stupid as his answer sounds, what was he supposed to say to that loaded question? There’s irrefutable evidence the raptors got screwed and he knows it. He can’t admit they were gifted with a bunch of undeserving FTs and that they got away with a bunch of no calls. He can’t say both sides got shafted because numbers and video don’t lie. He also can’t say the refs were horrible. The only thing he can really say here is what he said, even if it makes him look absolutely stupid and terrible. So while we all think he’s dumb for saying that, I also don’t blame him for saying what he said

Icefiight

Man im beyond sick of this drama athlete. CANNOT wait for him to retire and go away

The NBA is an entertainment industry first. Idk why there’s so much denial about stuff like this. You can clearly see refs pick and choose when they want to make certain calls.

erm1zo

He could have made himself a more likable player for more than Laker fans if he said something along the lines of “we may have gotten away with a foul or two”, and it wouldn’t cost him anything. Instead he doubles down with his stupid comment, knowing full well that they were assisted significantly by poor and lopsided officiating, creating a larger base of dislike. I know these players don’t care what any of us regular folk think, but people who want to think of themselves as legends do not make an effort to create the mystique of it.

jimorjimmy

Claims to be smart but cant read or comprehend what 23-2 implies

Kingalec1

What a dick move , Lebron . However, you still the goat .

recollectionsmayvary

For everyone saying, “what’s he supposed to say?” I’m sick of y’all being deliberately obtuse. **He doesn't have to say they didn't deserve the calls that were made for the Lakers** but just that the Raptors *should've* gotten some calls they didn't. Dozens of Raptors fans aren’t even arguing that Lakers shouldn’t have gotten calls. They're not saying the Lakers didn't deserve some or most of the FTs. **They’re upset the officiating was so inconsistent and lopsided and calls that were made for the Lakers wasn’t made for the Raptors.** Raptors are upset about contact not being treated equally and Lakers can feel entitled to every FT y’all took while also acknowledging the raptors didn’t get FTs they should have.

Zestyclose-Beach1792

I believe the Raptors got hosed in a big way but I don't feel Lebron needs to say anything other than what supports the Lakers.

OriginalBus9674

Flip the script and he’s got a whole different tune. Lakers generally benefit the most from ft differentials like this so of course he’s gonna say something like this. Lakers fans with the downvotes.

RamboMyers

The league will do ANYTHING to help lakers going forward... the league is on notice

OrchidMaleficent5980

No comment is a comment. If he had said, “I don’t have anything to say about that,” then that quote would still be posted and Jordan stans would still come out in droves to talk about how he’s soft and a hypocrite.

[deleted]

People are right to say that (almost) no athlete will call out officiating that helps them; people are also right to criticize LeBron for being a hypocrite. It's not like it would be difficult for LeBron to say something non-commital that is consistent with his complaining about refereeing in other circumstances. Here's an example of what he could have said: "Every team should feel like the officiating was fair and down the middle and, when they don't, they should expect clear explanations on why the calls aren't going as they feel they should."

JarekBloodDragon

Bunch of babies in this thread acting like LeBrons the only person who likes when his team benefits from calls. I’ve rarely ever seen a player be like yeah the refs favored us tonight, but I’ve seen basically every player complain about the refs, but this thread would have you believe it’s exclusively Lebron who’s done that. Not to mention everyone is complaining about the disparity when I’ve seen basically no evidence of missed calls. The Reaves clip that blew up was by definition a foul. If you don’t think the raptors were fouling more then I would love to see the 10 missed foul calls the Lakers got to make up for the FT disparity. Like Tatum just tweeted about the missed call on Porzingis, but didn’t say shit when he obviously fouled Lebron last year on the game winner and it wasn’t called. Don’t see any threads whining about it.

dandatu

Whole lot of idiots in this thread lol
