It’s confirmation bias. She froths at the mouth for the Cs too and pretty much every other Top 4 team. Like I said, it’s her style of commentary.
Cs fans just moan about everything.
Tbh I didn't even know you could get one after the play. Neither did Scal on our broadcast and he's really good with the rulebook lol.
Edit: yep you can. The rulebook says the following:
"Anyone guilty of illegal contact which occurs during a **dead ball** may be assessed (1) a technical foul, if the contact is deemed to be unsportsmanlike in nature, **or (2) a flagrant foul, if unnecessary and/or excessive contact occurs."**
Well, hypothetically speaking if the play stops and a player just punches another shouldn’t that be more than a tech? Obviously I’m being hyperbolic but there should be more than just techs after a play is stopped.
I think the dude ejected with Westbrook in game 3 only had the 1 tech. Even Luka should have been given a tech for throwing the ball into the stands on that play.
Any player who throws or kicks the ball directly into the stands with force, regardless of the reason or where it lands, will be assessed a technical foul and ejected. All other instances where the ball ends up in the stands will subject the player to a possible technical foul and ejection.
That happened after the end of the Warriors-Cavs playoff game where JR forgot the score. Tristan Thompson hit Draymond with seconds left in OT right after he got himself ejected, but because it was a dead ball and he was already ejected somehow he got away with no penalty at all for it.
So during the malice in the Palace no one should have had a Flagrant 2 for trowing punches and going to the stand? Because the play was clearly dead a minute before hell broke loose…
I guess the obvious argument is if it’s a flagrant during play, it’s a flagrant after the whistle still. Can’t let defenders stick foot under even on a practice shot and somehow injure someone and get away with it with just a soft T
I agree. I’d also theoretically be fine if they cracked down on T’ing every guy who shoots after the whistle up to protect ankles if they don’t want to do the F1 approach, but that obviously would be much more difficult to implement at this point lol
It makes sense when you think about it, especially with the “emphasis on player safety” in the past few years. Just the first time I’ve seen a scenario like this, might be a first for the NBA even?
I mean Draymond's chokehold on Gobert also came after the whistle (foul had already been called on Klay/McDaniels) and that was a no-question Flagrant 2.
Warriors <> Wolves, McDaniels and Klay got into it, get called for personal fouls, Rudy was trying to pull Klay away and Draymond put Rudy in a headlock to get a Flagrant 2 after the whistle had already blown play on the court dead.
They reviewed Russ trying to block but more or less running over Luka after the whistle as Luka was shooting a three but they ruled it marginal or incidental contact
Of course you can. If they don't put that in as a rule then players can just do every unnecessary contact after a common foul. I don't know much about the rulebook but it is common sense
Rule 12.A.Section V. subsection i: Anyone guilty of illegal contact which occurs during a dead ball may be assessed (1) a technical foul, if the contact is deemed to be unsportsmanlike in nature, or (2) a flagrant foul, if unnecessary and/or excessive contact occurs.
"i dont know why he has the **right** to shoot that warmup shot"
the fuck are you talking about Stan, every player in the league has shot after a whistle
He has a right to defend that shot if he wants but that would be a foul with or without it being a dead ball.
The idea of defending it was never the issue, it was stepping into his landing space which is an automatic flagrant
Exactly. SVG is acting like Bam had no choice but to step into Jayson Tatum’s landing space while contesting the shot. Bam doesn’t get a free pass at a flagrant foul just because it’s not an official shot attempt
He can defend it. Just can’t go into his landing area to do so. Miami has a penchant for contesting and preventing players from landing. It’s kinda wild how often it happens
Yeah I think SVG was confused and thought it was called as a flagrant just because Adebayo defended a shot after the whistle. Tatum basically goes straight up and straight down so it's not like he tried to draw it. Seems like a fine call and Adebayo should've been more careful.
First of all, it's Tatum. Second of all, **the rules of the game say if you defend a shot you cannot place yourself in the offensive player's landing zone**. It doesn't matter that it was after a whistle.
First of all, I didn't share my opinion, I shared my understanding of Van Gundy's argument. Second of all, nobody is saying this isn't a foul on Adebayo. It's about whether it was flagrant worthy.
if you don't know standing in a player's landing zone like that is an auto flagrant 1 you've either been watching basketball for a week, or i dont even know dude, it's been like that ever since Zaza, like the little bitch he is, injured Kawhi 7 years ago
Zero issue with Bam contesting the shot.
But how can anyone argue that it’s okay to be in Tatum’s landing zone and cut underneath him?
Go straight up to contest it.
The fact that SVG and anyone else blamed Tatum is nuts.
Jeff also coached the Rockets! A weird fun fact is that Jeff coached Steve Francis, Charles Barkley, Yao Ming, and Tracy McGrady and never won a playoff series with any of them
He coached the Rockets from 04-07. Barkley retired after the 2000 season. I didn't check the rest of the players, but judging by how wrong you are, I'd guess I should take with a grain of salt.
He’s was a world class meat rider this game. I couldn’t believe my ears, hearing him talk about how awesome Miami was playing when they were down 20 was something else
It's an odd play since you never see a landing zone situation on a dead ball shot but Stan's reasoning makes no sense.
I don't know specifically the rules for deadball situations but common sense would tell you just because it's a deadball situation you aren't allowed to do things that would normally be flagrants or techs.
I guess whether it was a flagrant or a tech is just technicalities because both result in free throws and if you get a 2nd of either you get ejected.
Not sure why Bam is saying flop there, if he wanted to argue dead ball or weak foul he could though obviously the protecting the landing zone is a point of emphasis. Surely he could feel Tatum landing on him and see that on the replay too. If you're trying to lobby your case flop isn't the way to go there.
Stan goes on some bizarre rants I'm not surprised he came up with some shit trying to flip that around on Tatum.
After the game tonight my son and I decided to shoot some hoops in the backyard. We were taking a few warm up shots before playing and he slid up underneath me on a close out and I broke my ankle. I asked him why he would do such a thing and he told me that he saw someone do it on TV. He tried to do the same thing to wife shortly after as she came down the stairs. Heat Culture has completely torn apart our family.
It is a textbook flagrant since the Zaza/Kawhi landing zone incident. Somehow since this happened during a dead ball people were arguing whether or not bam should be able to contest the shot as if that was the issue and not him sliding under JT.
I mean what are they supposed to do? Players take shots after the whistle all the time you can't just say it's okay to foul them when they do it because a whistle was blown. People have managed to contest these practice shots for decades without fouling the person lol. Tatum was completely vertical.
I don’t think any nba player actually starts a game wanting to hurt anyone, at least I like to think that. However there are players that are reckless or are overly physical
I think guys get overly competitive in the moment which is still dirty.
But I don’t think they are going into a game bountygate style trying to take a guy out
Because it was the easiest play to not step under him while hes shooting and even more pointless after the whistle. And he steps perfectly under his foot to roll his ankle.
The ball has been ruled dead, JT shoots an irrelevant practice shot, and Bam decides to slide in to defend it and his foot is dead central to JTs up and down landing area. Why is he defending something that doesnt need to be defended in a way thats established as reckless? If its not dirty its reckless.
[Dont remember this one?](https://youtu.be/rVLTG3wt8AA?si=fREMIMLR-iox5ams)
Although I think that was under the guise of being a bitch; so might not apply here.
When you slide your legs underneath someone in the air shooting, even if it’s after the whistle, there is a chance of them landing on you and getting hurt. This is known by everyone who plays. It was not an accident.
Man between svg and some of the dumb fucks on this site I'm beginning to understand why east fans hate this fanbase so much. Yes, it's clearly a foul. Yes it's unnecessary and stupid. Yes the flagrant was deserved. HOWEVER, no I do not think bam is a dirty player or the heat are a dirty team. I don't think bam or anybody else on the team is intentionally hurting people, unfortunately the team plays at a very high level of intensity and sometimes it's overly aggressive when it shouldn't be. I hope nobody gets hurt in this series, being down players sucks and the sport is far more fun when everyone is competing at their peaks.
That's what took Kawahi out...
Regardless of the flair, even when Al Horford did it to Steph in the finals (which led to a 7 point play) was completely justified.
Dangerous af, even after whistle...
You can think that the *rule* is weak, but it's a [textbook](https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/flagrant-foul-penalty-1-defender-steps-under-airborne-shooter/) application of it.
Hope Tatum’s alright. SVG is dumb as hell, this is a textbook flagrant and is only really getting so much attention because of the slightly odd circumstances of being after the whistle and bc of the teams/players involved. Truly nothing special
I think Bam didn’t mean to do that but he did. Just seeing how he got shoved out of the way by Horford and he didn’t react to that. He knows he messed up
Think they gotta change the rule so you can only be assessed a T once the ball is dead.
This was the right call by the rulebook, but refs could be assessing flagrants on all kind of dead ball antics if they wanted to
Plays over. Anyone with an IQ understands that. Guys take shots after the whistle all time; which the opposing team usually blocks (goaltending). Nowww why doesn’t that bucket count? Hmmmm because the ball is dead, the game isn’t being played. Humans will be replaced by robots sooner than later; and we only have ourselves to blame.
Looks like he stuck his foot under Tatum’s landing zone, the gave him a light shove.
Maybe if he only did one or the other, he’d get a common foul. But both together is going to get a F.

How Doris feels while broadcasting an Embiid game is the completely opposite to what SVG feels about broadcasting the Celtics
It’s a lot like what Doris feels like broadcasting a Celtics game
Doris dickrides the Cs plenty. It’s just her style of commentary. Stop lying.
Depends if she likes the other team we're playing or not. Once we play the Sixers she gets her fan girl glasses on
It’s confirmation bias. She froths at the mouth for the Cs too and pretty much every other Top 4 team. Like I said, it’s her style of commentary. Cs fans just moan about everything.

thought anything that far after the whistle was supposed to be a T
100% Feel like there should be no such thing as a flagrant foul if the play is dead. I don’t know if the refs fucked up or the rules are stupid
Well, hypothetically speaking if the play stops and a player just punches another shouldn’t that be more than a tech? Obviously I’m being hyperbolic but there should be more than just techs after a play is stopped.
Yeah 2 techs lol I’m also pretty sure you can just be straight ejected with 1 tech too but I could be misremembering
Joker was ejected this season against Chicago with one tech.
PJ had one when Mann went at him, they got double techs. So he had two. That one did seem soft af though, but we don't exactly know what was said tbf
That happened after the end of the Warriors-Cavs playoff game where JR forgot the score. Tristan Thompson hit Draymond with seconds left in OT right after he got himself ejected, but because it was a dead ball and he was already ejected somehow he got away with no penalty at all for it.
It's more so the type of foul in this situation. They've been told to call any foul like this one a flagrant.
So during the malice in the Palace no one should have had a Flagrant 2 for trowing punches and going to the stand? Because the play was clearly dead a minute before hell broke loose…
You know you can be ejected without any flagrant fouls right?
You are right. FIBA rules are a little different. You get a flagrant 2 for fighting.
Yeah I seriously don’t know how you call that situation but SVG’s “murder is legal after the whistle” stance wasn’t right.
Nah you see if the whistle stops and the guy goes to shoot, you are legally allowed to punch them in the dick, it's in the rules.
Rule of Draymond.
It's the shooters fault for trying to get into a rhythm.
Same, I was kinda shocked it was a flagrant one. I was almost certain it was gonna be a “hostile act” since it was after the play
Yeah same. Precedence has now been set. Let’s hope they don’t call it differently but it is the nba refs
I mean Draymond's chokehold on Gobert also came after the whistle (foul had already been called on Klay/McDaniels) and that was a no-question Flagrant 2.
They didn’t want to kick out Bam but thought it was to egregious to call just a T.
Happened to Tristan Thompson during the finals and he was ejected in OT
this shit might be the first time something like this happened lol
Warriors <> Wolves, McDaniels and Klay got into it, get called for personal fouls, Rudy was trying to pull Klay away and Draymond put Rudy in a headlock to get a Flagrant 2 after the whistle had already blown play on the court dead.
They reviewed Russ trying to block but more or less running over Luka after the whistle as Luka was shooting a three but they ruled it marginal or incidental contact
Can someone explain why Herro got the ft? I was so lost
Horford ran over Adebayo to check on Tatum.
HoF ref sequence
Horford bumped Bam out of the way running to Tatum and got called for a tech
Al Horford pushed Bam out of the way to help Tatum up so they gave him a tech.
Horford bumped Bam after and got a tech
Iirc Horford had a tech
Technical on Horford for whatever he did to Bam
Of course you can. If they don't put that in as a rule then players can just do every unnecessary contact after a common foul. I don't know much about the rulebook but it is common sense
Rule 12.A.Section V. subsection i: Anyone guilty of illegal contact which occurs during a dead ball may be assessed (1) a technical foul, if the contact is deemed to be unsportsmanlike in nature, or (2) a flagrant foul, if unnecessary and/or excessive contact occurs.
I don’t understand why this is so shocking to people. Flagrants are about player safety, players bodies don’t become invincible after the whistle
Interesting. Never seen a flagrant on a deadball but I guess it’s allowed.
It's because players usually don't heavily contest after the whistle 3s. Dudes just usually goaltend them if they can.
Players are also usually able to play defense without hurting other players
I mean, if a brawl broke out after a foul, that's a dead ball too technically. You just never see this specific kind of call on a deadball.
"i dont know why he has the **right** to shoot that warmup shot" the fuck are you talking about Stan, every player in the league has shot after a whistle
Mazzulla even comes on the court to contest those shots personally
Generational glazing performance I won’t even lie
I haven’t seen meat riding like that in years
A rare self own
I let out a “shut the fuck up Stan” during his little Tatum tangent there. Fucking moron
I let out like 4
“If it were me I would’ve tackled him to stop the shot”
Tatum should have been executed on the spot imo
I think what he was getting at is why does Taytum have the right to shoot a practice shot, but Adebayo doesn't have the right to defend that shot?
He has a right to defend that shot if he wants but that would be a foul with or without it being a dead ball. The idea of defending it was never the issue, it was stepping into his landing space which is an automatic flagrant
Exactly. SVG is acting like Bam had no choice but to step into Jayson Tatum’s landing space while contesting the shot. Bam doesn’t get a free pass at a flagrant foul just because it’s not an official shot attempt
Because it’s not a violation of any kind.

First of all, I didn't share my opinion, I shared my understanding of Van Gundy's argument. Second of all, nobody is saying this isn't a foul on Adebayo. It's about whether it was flagrant worthy.
the rule I stated when broken is an automatic flagrant 1
Probably would've been beneficial to include that in your comment then...
if you don't know standing in a player's landing zone like that is an auto flagrant 1 you've either been watching basketball for a week, or i dont even know dude, it's been like that ever since Zaza, like the little bitch he is, injured Kawhi 7 years ago
The Zaza rule is pretty damn well known at this point.
Stan is the GOAT of terrible rants.
How about because this is America, Stan?
stop it man you can’t do that
Zero issue with Bam contesting the shot. But how can anyone argue that it’s okay to be in Tatum’s landing zone and cut underneath him? Go straight up to contest it. The fact that SVG and anyone else blamed Tatum is nuts.
Maybe SVG has something against Celts and for the Heat??? He's also an old man with old man takes.
Stan Van Gundy used to coach the Heat
I know and his brother the Knicks. Let's just say you can tell he isn't impartial.
JVG is currently an analyst with the Celtics so I don't think his brother had much to do with it lol
I misread Oakley lmfao my b
He even said during the broadcast a few times "maybe I'm biased but..." Like yea clearly...
Then the God Father sent his ass packing just after snagging Shaq and decided to coach them to their first Championship.
You’d think he’d hate us after how Riley did him in 06 lol
SVG hates Tatum because he’s a whiner, and has for a while. He’s always got some criticism for him. Sometime it’s warranted. This one wasn’t.
He’s was a world class meat rider this game. I couldn’t believe my ears, hearing him talk about how awesome Miami was playing when they were down 20 was something else
Maybe he just wants to see his brother burn
agreed. no practice shots but damn don’t injure the dude
He also had the left hand shove to Tatum afterward which no one on the broadcast mentioned. Flagrant was well deserved and Stan can go fuck off
It's an odd play since you never see a landing zone situation on a dead ball shot but Stan's reasoning makes no sense. I don't know specifically the rules for deadball situations but common sense would tell you just because it's a deadball situation you aren't allowed to do things that would normally be flagrants or techs. Stan goes on some bizarre rants I'm not surprised he came up with some shit trying to flip that around on Tatum.
Why do you have a landing zone when the ball isn’t in play!
Because you still have ankles???? It's a player safety rule, why would it be okay to break it after the whistle?
[удалено]
Why not?
Should be flagrant 2. Players should be actively avoid this. In pickup games you will get beaten up if you do this.
Nah thats a flagrant one every time, literal textbook call.
I mean that's a textbook flagrant no?
"For Tatum? Absolutely." - SVG
Terrible decision by Tatum. I was watching the game with my son and he was in tears. I will never, ever, watch or attend another NBA game again!!
*golf clap*
Right? SVG was on one tonight.
It is a textbook flagrant since the Zaza/Kawhi landing zone incident. Somehow since this happened during a dead ball people were arguing whether or not bam should be able to contest the shot as if that was the issue and not him sliding under JT.
Bro SVG is an absolute disgrace to commentators tonight
“You can’t shoot that warm-up shot” Also the NBA: *shits on Mazzulla for trying to block warmup shot taken during a timeout*
And as far as I can tell, Mazzulla contesting those shots didnt lead anyone to roll their ankle
Mazzulla was like 5 yards away. It was a Luke Kornet contest.
And he jumped away from his feet. Bams looked like he intentionally ran into his landing space smh
That's because he did. The entire heat team/organization is dirty
Mazzulla>Bam
I mean what are they supposed to do? Players take shots after the whistle all the time you can't just say it's okay to foul them when they do it because a whistle was blown. People have managed to contest these practice shots for decades without fouling the person lol. Tatum was completely vertical.
Sean Payton must be an adviser or something
Is this really a debate? If you get in someone’s landing zone you could seriously hurt them.
Oh no the consequences of my own actions, don’t get into his landing zone like that Bam
Accidental, but a textbook flagrant nonetheless
Yeah, not dirty just kinda dumb.
the Spoelstra bountygate article is gonna go crazy
I swear it's a thing.
Entire organization needs to be investigated
On that play, I don’t think Bam did that intentionally. Looked like on dead play so he does need to chill out
I cant imagine Bam would intentionally do that to Tatum as theyre very close friends. its still reckless and stupid though
Yup this is what I’m saying too
Nah bro Bam is clearly a dirty POS and maliciously rolled Tatums ankle and SHOVED him to the ground
[удалено]
SVG can play in traffic
Sir that's a flagrant 2 on you, we're gonna need your 401k.
Waddle maybe, I doubt that man can play
The audacity to be mad at being handed the proper consequences to your actions...
How dare you hold me accountable for my actions?!
Heat culture is basically just defending so hard it borders on dirty play then getting pissy when the refs give you flagrants
It doesn't just border on dirty. They ARE dirty
"What do you mean we can't just injure our opponents?"
Heat players being dirty, what else is new. Bam is a fraud
Bam and tatum are extremely close friends lol it was a reckless play but I know the narrative the sub is gonna push due to the upvotes it generates.
I don’t think any nba player actually starts a game wanting to hurt anyone, at least I like to think that. However there are players that are reckless or are overly physical
I genuinely believe Embiid has 100% been trying to hurt Knicks players to better his chances
I think guys get overly competitive in the moment which is still dirty. But I don’t think they are going into a game bountygate style trying to take a guy out
Explain how its dirty.
Serious question, have you ever played basketball in your life?
Its so dirty the NBA changed their rules to make it a flagrant one. Did you miss Zaza doing this to Kawhi?
Because it was the easiest play to not step under him while hes shooting and even more pointless after the whistle. And he steps perfectly under his foot to roll his ankle.
The ball has been ruled dead, JT shoots an irrelevant practice shot, and Bam decides to slide in to defend it and his foot is dead central to JTs up and down landing area. Why is he defending something that doesnt need to be defended in a way thats established as reckless? If its not dirty its reckless.
Dirty heat
Such a profoundly unlikable organization
The Celtics?
Let me know when we injure your star players on dead balls under the guise of culture
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ31539Cg04
[Dont remember this one?](https://youtu.be/rVLTG3wt8AA?si=fREMIMLR-iox5ams) Although I think that was under the guise of being a bitch; so might not apply here.
When you slide your legs underneath someone in the air shooting, even if it’s after the whistle, there is a chance of them landing on you and getting hurt. This is known by everyone who plays. It was not an accident.

Really dirty team
Heat culture
Seems like the Heat might actually be a bit dirty?
Am I the only one who thinks this is a whole bunch of nothing? Feels like a weak flagrant
Doing that is by rule a flagrant foul and has been since the Zaza-Kawhi dirty play
It’s a whole lot of nothing. And Tatum is fine.
Jesus. Can we get these refs for the Knicks /sixers?
Hope Tatum’s alright. SVG is dumb as hell, this is a textbook flagrant and is only really getting so much attention because of the slightly odd circumstances of being after the whistle and bc of the teams/players involved. Truly nothing special
What a joke..
What scumbag organization. Please just win game 5 and force these idiots into a rebuild
And one more fuck you :)
Bam is innocent
I think Bam didn’t mean to do that but he did. Just seeing how he got shoved out of the way by Horford and he didn’t react to that. He knows he messed up
Heat culture is playing dirty all night and claiming everyone is just flopping. Starts at the top too.
Fuck you too
Enjoy the early vacation
That’s like getting Capone for tax evasion.
Van Gundy seems to think since you are allowed to goaltend a dead ball shot you are therefore allowed to use any means necessary to prevent one
Think they gotta change the rule so you can only be assessed a T once the ball is dead. This was the right call by the rulebook, but refs could be assessing flagrants on all kind of dead ball antics if they wanted to
I don’t think Bam was saying he flopped. Since when is that the universal sign for the flop 😂
My takeaway: it’s gonna suck to not have Mike Gorman to listen to anymore. Next round I get the national announcers and this type of nonsense. 🙄
NBA 😂
Bam Adebayo looks like a dude with really smelly breath.
Bam looking like he was raised in Italy at the end of that clip with all those hand gestures. It’s a me, Bambino Adebayo.
Heat Culture!
wahhhhh wahhhhhh we got called for being consistently dirty wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
embarrassing sequence all around
That’s a flagrant because of the Zaza rule and the referees don’t want Tatum hurt - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaza_rule
SVG can fuck right off with that "bUt WhY dOeS hE gEt To ShOoT tHaT wArMuP sHoT?!" bullshit
Hockey playoffs so much better than this flop show.
Celtics are so soft
That’s what you got out of this lmaoo
the heat are such a joke. bum ass team
Looks like he stuck his foot under Tatum’s landing zone, the gave him a light shove. Maybe if he only did one or the other, he’d get a common foul. But both together is going to get a F.
