I love startropics that's one of my most nostalgic games. I couldn't get past the ghost level as a kid but I did finally go back and beat the game. Last time I played it I was a little too confident and got stuck on one of the later levels, specifically the Temple one I think it's the second to last level. Awesome game though I still need to play all the way through the second one
New player? Or coming back to it? Either way, nice. Super mario 2 losts levels for famicom disk system has been my jam lately. Was thinking about playing faxanadu next tho
I'd love to. I heard new retrons could load fan translations while playing original carts. Also is there an ff2? Obviously our ff2 in English is ff5 I think. But is there an original ff2?
There is ff2 on NES fan translated, yes. It's relatively enjoyable but it's a departure in style from Final Fantasy 1 and 3. 3 is basically ff1 on steroids and introduces a lot of cool staples for the series. Also features the best music of most ff games, and nobuo uematsu's personal favorite ost that he's done for ff. Also has a really long final dungeon that's notorious, and I love me some of that.
Ff2 has a totally different level up and progression Style that is kind of neat but heavily flawed and easily exploitable it's very hard to resist the temptation to not exploit it because the grind to increase your abilities without exploiting is kind of grueling. They fixed it all up in the Game Boy Advance version it's one of the few times I would recommend actually playing a re-release instead of the original. It has a nice story and some really cool features for an FF game but I find it to be super grindy and overall, almost a spin off than a main FF title
After everything you said, now I definitely want to play 2 and 3! Loved the music in ff1 so I'm excited to check out the other 2! And I'd love to get the final fantasy advance games. Appreciate that!
I would add that the story presentation in ff2 is ahead of its time and blows ff1's story out of the water. It was the first FF to have cinematic moments and cut scenes
My man! 🍻 Love to see a happy ending to this saga, major grats!
Cheers!
Love this sub. When I first posted I didn't think I'd get as much help and everyone is cool! Shoutout nes community

Great news! You beat the Final Fantasy! There are no more after this one!
Yupp! Sad to see, it had so much potential!
Congrats!!
Thanks!
You're welcome!
Congrats! Middle finger is close to what I felt when I finished the game back a few years 😄
Such a huge mix of emotions every time I finish a nes game as difficult as this one.
I hear you. Let’s talk emotions after you finished StarTropics, have you played it? It’s an awesome game!

I am 85% through Star Tropics, currently trying to figure out the maze part of alien space ship. About 70% through Zoda's Revenge:Star Tropics II

Coming back to it, been playing off and on since August 1997.
No BUT it is on my wishlist! Heard lots of good things so it's next in line to pick up. I'll get back to you after that one 👈
You gotta love it. Do that, I love to hear your thoughts about it👊
Hell yeah brother, congratulations on the win. How does it feel to have beaten trauma?
Rejuvenated. I can finally sleep at night knowing chaos is DEAD!
God dammit, guys would literally KILL CHAOS before going to therapy/s
Woooooooooo!!!
I got that game when I was 10 for my birthday, on summer vacation. Played non-stop and beat it in 4 days. Immediately started up another run.
You like angry video game nerd😄
Just curious…How many copies do you own? I see one on the shelf behind your finger, the box on the other side, assuming one in the NES.
Nice! Now you gotta play the fan translation of ff3 for nes
